A plus-size human nanny. A single-dad Alpha. A forbidden bond.
I took the billionaire’s nanny job to pay my bills—not to be pinned against the kitchen counter in a very unprofessional kiss. Worse? I just felt a thick, furry wolf tail brush against my thigh.
My boss, Roman Drakos, is a lethal mix of tailored suits and raw, animal hunger. He’s a grumpy CEO by day, but a Supreme Alpha by night. I was hired to take care of his little girl, but Roman isn’t playing house. And he looks at my curves like I’m his favorite meal. He doesn’t want an employee. He wants a Mate.
Grandma’s bills are paid, but my sanity is gone. Especially when his daughter looks at me and "Mommy!" And his dead wife’s sister is out for blood. But Roman? His claws currently grazing my lace panties... The Alpha King isn't planning on letting me go.
Let me start by saying that this will give you the payoffs you expect, so if you're looking for a fairly light-hearted read with all the classic tropes, you'll be fulfilled.
If you're like me, however, you might start to get annoyed fairly quickly.
Once the supernatural is revealed to the FMC, she veers toward Mary-Sue Land. That, combined with the rushed plot that could have ended around 80% (but wait! We have to include ALL the things) grates. Then there's the (seeming lack of) editing. (Curdled toes, anyone?)
I rarely rate under 4 stars but wanted to justify. It reads more like a Wattpad story at times. The FMC is also intensely hung up on her poor body image (Because lest we forget, all us plus size gals must be either fully digusted by our own bodies or 100% body positive, with no in between /sarcasm) to the point that you begin to wonder if the writer has ever even had chubby gal problems. Nearly all men besides the MMC and his friends harass the FMC in some way, and the FMC seems to lack awareness that (many) males insult women or harm them when rebuffed, regardless of a woman's size. And everything negative that happens is attributed to her weight to the point that it feels like the author also dislikes those on the fluffier side. Worry not though, the MMC will make sure that our FMC learns to love herself.
All that aside, it's not a bad read, just one that may push the wrong buttons at times.
The story is great and things that normally would make me dnf, felt like small inconveniences. That said, I couldn't in good faith give it above three stars. There are places where paragraphs repeat, dialogue that shows that the author removed something but didn't remove the other character's response to it. All it needs is some thoughtful editing.
This was such a nice read. It wasn’t heavy or emotionally draining, and I’d definitely class it as a great palate cleanser between darker books.
The romance between Claire, a human, and Roman, the Alpha Supreme, is very much a slow burn. The tension builds gradually, making the payoff all the sweeter when they finally give in to their feelings.
My favourite part of the book, though, was the relationship between Claire and June, Roman’s daughter. Their bond is instant, genuine, and absolutely beautiful to watch develop throughout the story.
Of course, their worlds are meant to stay separate. Humans aren’t supposed to know about shifters, and we all know secrets like that never stay hidden forever. And naturally, there’s always at least one she-wolf getting her knickers in a twist over the situation, so expect a little drama along the way.
The chemistry between Claire and Roman is both sweet and sizzling. When Roman finally stops fighting what he feels, he’s completely devoted, and I loved that there was never any unnecessary wavering or uncertainty between them once they accepted their feelings.
Claire has spent her life feeling self-conscious about her body, believing she’s never quite fit society’s expectations. Watching Roman make her feel beautiful, wanted, and worthy exactly as she is was one of my favourite aspects of the story.
Overall, this was a sweet, enjoyable paranormal romance with a lovable child character, a grumpy alpha who falls hard, and enough warmth to leave you smiling by the end. 🖤
This book is poorly written and apparently set in a world where most women are dumb feral lust beasts. In just the first two chapters:
1) the receptionists at a massive corporation make fat jokes to guests. Because that’s worth getting fired.
2) two seconds after meeting the FMC, the MMC’s three best friends declare that she’s Not Like Other Women, apparently because she cracks a joke rather than throw herself at them.
3) she gets hired for the nanny job for a billionaire despite having no education, no references, and hardly any job experience. Also, there are apparently no background checks or other screening. She wins because the staffing agency can apparently only find four candidates and all of the others suck. Maybe the MMC needs an agency capable of finding a candidate willing to keep their pants on in the presence of a handsome rich man. Like, maybe one that won’t send a candidate just because she’s the owner’s daughter’s best friend. Also, not that I don’t think there are plenty of qualified and professional hetero women out there, but apparently in this story nannies can only be hetero women.
If the first 15 pages represent the story quality, I don’t think the rest is worth reading.
I have been wanting to try a shifter romance and came across an ad for this book on social media. Since it contained one of my favorite tropes, single dad/nanny, I decided to give it a try.
Claire is a plus sized nanny who desperately needs a job to pay for heart surgery her beloved grandma needs. Her friend’s father helps get her a job as nanny to June, the daughter of billionaire Roman, who is secretly an alpha werewolf. From their first meeting sparks fly for Claire but Roman’s wolf senses mate while June also falls for her Laire. June flourishes under June’s care and the more time they are together their feelings grow.
Their love is forbidden and Roman must find a way to tell her and the pack. But enemies abound threatening not only their love but their lives.
It was a wonderful almost fairy tale like story. I loved the characters, their bonds and the way they fought for their love. It was a great quick read that I read in a few hours, I was so engrossed. I will definitely be continuing on in the series.
Nanny for the Grumpy Alpha by Rhea A. Voss is paranormal shifter, boss-employee, single dad, well-written romance that is read worthy. I loved my first time read from this author. I thought the story was well written with good pacing throughout. I also enjoyed the depth of the secondary characters and the main characters, Claire & Roman. The intrigue, in addition to the combination of the paranormal and romance, was also done well. I found Nanny for the Grumpy Alpha to be engaging and entertaining from start to finish.
I skipped two chapters because of the use of ketchup during sex, that's nasty.
Also, fatshaming just to point out the FMC is "curvy" is getting old. Judging by the cover art and descriptions in the book, the FMC is at tops a size 12/14. That's not even curvy! In the US, that's average. Im referring to the scene on page 4 where two receptionists decided to crack an exercise joke.
It happens again when we meet Vanessa- another random ass charecter who points out FMC's body weight. Vanessa just pops into the story randomly, her only job is to body shame Claire.
This was an average read, nothing really spectacular happened. -The guy was "grumpy" for like 2% of the book.. the beginning. -not really "forced proximity" because he had her move in to nanny his kid -Claire focused A LOT on her size, and the only time Roman said anything was how she "jiggled" (which I dont really find flattering) -the council meeting at the end was the only time anything "werewolf" was focused on -the romance was super sweet and believable, who wouldn't fall in love with someone that loves your kid so much -June was adorable
I love this book oh my God it was so good, it was written well, everything that I like about it was in the book I love the nanny books I love it there's so many authors out there that write the nanny books and they're amazing and this one tops it very very good I love it oh my God if I could I would continue to read their story forever but books have to end sometime it's definitely on my top list
At this point it should be clear what the major plot points,, but there's so many fragmented pieces, I've lost interest.
Actual werewolves? Or omegaverse? And no humans know about presence of werewolves or omegas? And what's the grandma have to do with everything; same question for Rhett & Reugn who exist but so lightly at galway point they are irritating & distracting.
Bummer. Looked cute. At halfway point, I'd expect the world the characters live in more established.
Loved this read! So glad I came across it. The single daddy and nanny trope never fails. Throw in werewolves and what more could you ask for! I always fall of the kids first and June is no exception. Love this little girl and the glimpse into the future in the epilouge. Roman and Claire are perfect for eachother. She's all sunshine and he's grumpy. Perfect combo. Loved all the side characters that made the story whole. Totally reccomend.
Not bad, not great. The storyline was well thought out and well executed. The characters were as well. It could have been an awesome book. My issue is the editing. Please, for the love of grammer; find a new editor. The errors are one thing, but the missing pieces make me nuts. Before you publish your books, please read them through. This will solve 99% of the problems. A good editor would have caught all of this.
A heartwarming 🥰 book of finding love after grief! 😢 Believing in yourself and found family!! 💕
Such an easy read! 📕 Fast paced with plot and characters who keep you reading!! … both the MMC 🐺 & FMC are equally strong 💪 minded and the perfect match! ❤️
I’m looking 👀 forward to devouring the rest of this series!! Xxx
This would have been a 4 star review but the grammatical errors took it down one. Definitely worth reading the bonus epilogue, it helps to wrap everything up. It was a different concept with the werewolves forbidden from mating with humans. Not usually a fan of the nanny stories but I did enjoy this one. Roman and Claire’s story is good and June “little moon” is the sweetest little girl.
This was a really good read, it definitely has potential to be a full 5 star review. Unfortunately, the only reason I dropped it to 3 stars was because of the amount of editing errors and plot/story flow issues that really need to be fixed. If those weren’t continuously messing with my flow of reading then it definitely would’ve been a 5 stars read.
This was my first book of Rhea A. Voss and it will not be my last! This story was so well written the pace and the ways things happened had been dying to know what was going to happen next. I loved how Claire and June bonded and how she showed Roman he didn’t have to work so hard and that little moon needed more of his attention.
A fun and heartwarming paranormal romance. What starts as a difficult working relationship slowly turns into a sweet and emotional romance. Fans of grumpy heroes, single dads, and shifter romances will likely enjoy this book. Overall, an entertaining and easy read that delivers romance, emotion, and a satisfying happy ending.
This was an enjoyable read with plenty of familiar tropes and characters I cared about. However, I felt the plot became rushed towards the end and some of the editing and repetitive themes pulled me out of the story at times. Despite that, I still enjoyed the overall experience and would read another book by this author.
This story was so good. I like how the FMC didn’t run away when she was confronted with the truth. She even helped a young lost wolf find his family as a test to be a Luna. I like how the MMc finally faces himself and was ready to fight the counsel for the FMC. I recommend to anyone 18+ due to mature content
A sassy grandma, adorable little moon, a few besties and the Supreme Alpha and his nanny. Claire is bright and compassionate. Roman is demanding, but also hopelessly devoted. It’s a different view of werewolves (if you don’t like that term, this is a hard pass) there’s no shifting here. It’s an easy, light hearted read.
I saw this as an advertisement on FB and downloaded it. The writing though felt off and at times didn’t make sense. I thought maybe it just wasn’t properly edited but it was more than that. It’s definitely giving AI vibes BUT I wasn’t able to confirm that so it’s just my opinion. DNF’ed… Would not recommend.
I love the body positivity in this book! I also love how the FMC drives the MMC crazy 🤪. I love how he falls for her even though he keeps telling himself that he shouldn’t. Proving that love conquers all!
Claire got more than what she bargained for when she signed up to be Roman’s nanny. The job turned out to be so much more. Roman wants her in every way. She is a human, he’s an alpha shifter. And these two got hot and heavy. This was a really great story. These two were awesome together.
I’ve read several shapeshifter books that are love stories between humans but this one crawled under my skin and settled in my heart. Maybe it’s due to the Alphas little baby girl that Claire is the nanny to but whatever this was a wonderful read.
This is a new author for me and I am pleased I read this one. It kept my interest and I liked getting to know the characters. Highly recommend giving this book a read. HEA, no cheating, no cliffhanger. Nice epilogue.
Billionaire single dad & nanny (yes, a favorite trope) as well as grump/sunshine (often true of single dad/nanny pairings), but with a twist as he's the Supreme Alpha (in a world where werewolves are still hidden) & she's human. Open door 🌶 🌶
Got a kick out of little June. Could hear her giggles and feel her fear when she was afraid. From the start she loved her” Laire”, storyline well written and liked how grandma Rose brought into the story. Surprised with never having Roman show his true Alpha.
I really enjoyed Claire and Roman's sweet mate story. It was entertaining and characters interesting. Definitely recommend this book. The main female character was strong willed and didn't let anything get in her way.
