The chase is over, but the real game is just starting.
"I spent months hiding what she is to me. Now I get to walk into that building, and everyone will know - Alexandra Morgan is mine. And if anyone has a problem with that, they can take it up with me." — Josephine 'Jo' Blake, Senior Account Manager & Unapologetic Menace
"She calls it devotion. HR calls it a disclosure form. I call it the most reckless, brilliant, terrifying decision I've ever made - and I'd sign the paperwork twice. Don't tell her I said that. She's insufferable enough already." — Alexandra 'Alex' Morgan, VP of Operations & No Longer In Denial
Jo Blake got the girl. But having Alexandra Morgan and keeping her are two different games - and the second one has rules Jo never learned to play by. Month by month, from a Christmas party where they can't touch to a summer where they refuse to let go, Catching Red follows Jo and Alex through the messy, but tender work of building a life together.
The sequel to the Amazon bestselling Chasing Red, Catching Red is a sizzling sapphic workplace romance that proves the only thing more dangerous than the pursuit is the surrender. Features colleagues with zero filter, meet-the-family as an extreme sport, and enough heat to trigger the office fire alarm. Guaranteed HEA. Contains mature themes.
Delightful read! Such a really nice conclusion to their (Jo & Alex) relationship. An inherent coupling and follow-up storyline from their journey of how they started to now how they have ended up. Love it and do highly recommend this book and series!
This is kind of a long epilogue as they tackle mundane things (work, family, etc.), nothing dramatic. I expected some twist where they pulled apart, but no, it's just a cute, sweet epilogue for a couple more pages, and I found it to be nice and actually enjoyed it. The thing with sudden lines and thoughts no human would ever think still haunts me from two other books, but it's not that bad.
I always want more when a book does a time jump epilogue. This is the first book I’ve ever read that filled in the gap. I absolutely loved it!! I wish more books would do this. I finally got the more I wanted from the characters. I want to be able to read these for the first time again!
When I finished reading Chasing Red, I was thrilled to see that Alex and Jo's story continues with Catching Red. As suggested by the title, the first book tells the story of the chase, the wanting, and the evolution of that want into something deeper.
This book, Catching Red, tells the next 6+ months of Alex and Jo's story... their deepening feelings for each and explores how their work and personal lives entwine. It is sweet, spicy, possessive, and obsessive in just the right way.
I especially enjoyed Jo's voice in her narrated chapters. She is a keen, intelligent observer, snarky, and still very much the dark wolf from the first book.
"Ms. Blake. The address hits me the way it always does - a little electric, a little devasting. In public, it's a wall. In private, it's foreplay."
"My chest aches with a tenderness that has no business existing alongside the possessive hunger I've been nursing all night."
"I love you she says... no preamble. No careful lead up. Just the raw, unvarnished truth, delivered with the same shattered openness as a woman who has run out of walls to hide behind."
"Every inch of you. Mine."
"I would follow this woman anywhere... The feeling of her body beneath mine is the closest thing to holy I have ever known."
My only criticism is that I feel like this book was too short. I feel Alex and Jo's story had more to give... or maybe it was just me wanting more. I read this in one setting. I could have used another 400 pages or so. I just wasn't ready to say goodbye to Alex and Jo.
If you like sapphic office romances, I highly recommend this 2 book series.
The whole series had exceptional writing. You could have an ongoing series of books about Alex and Jo and your readers would never be bored. People say, " I couldn't put it down." I hated to put it down to go to the bathroom, but needs must. The ending was perfect but I'm serious, there could be a wedding, (yes I'm spoiling it but the writing about those proposals were worth swooning over and I'm too old to swoon lol) they could move to London, the list of more stories are never ending when you have two great characters to build on.
Great continuation of the Jo - Alex story. Making room for each other in their lives, compromising and communicating key to their successful relationship. Being opened minded to understand your partner’s perspective. For example Alex’s willingness to sacrifice the condo she loved to have Jo feel comfortable. Great love story.
Besides the day to day relationship it was nice to see the compromise both were willing to make. Loved the story.
When I saw. That you had another story about this couple I re-read cheating red so that I wouldn't miss a thing By. Adding the the second book it allows for us to be immersed into the actual stepping out into daily life and what that entails. Thank you. Very enjoyable.
This was sweet, touching, hot, and generally amazing.
It's definitely one of the better follow up stories that I've encountered in recent memory, and I will absolutely read anything else that the author writes.
I strongly recommend it, but you definitely need to read Chasing Red first, but, well, I strongly recommend that as well. :)
Wow! This book is a fantastic conclusion to Chasing Red, I love the chemistry between Alex and Jo. Alix Marren has captured two brilliant main characters and has definitely kept the spice all the way through! I won’t give the story away but I would definitely recommend this new and talented author.
A wonderful conclusion of the series. These characters are so well written you can't help being pulled into their story. I've really enjoyed both books and look forward to more stories from this author.
Catching Red by Alix Marren was the perfect conclusion of Alex and Jo's story. After Chasing Red I was left wanting more so I was glad to see this pop up on my Kindle. You can really feel the love between the characters and I am here for it.
How on earth Alix Marren wrote this sweet story with such warmth without it being saccharin is beyond me. I loved it! Jo and Alex are characters we all would want in our lives.
Terrific ending to this series, I really enjoyed both books so much. The stories were engaging, the characters deep and intense. Looking forward to more books by this author.
sweet follow up read! I felt like we saw a different side to Jo and Alex than book one. Mich softer, open, and vulnerable. I LOVED the ending plus super cute epilogue :)
Big Fan! I loved the dynamic of Jo & Alex- they complimented each other so well and Jo’s personality just really was truly relatable and so down to earth. Can’t wait to see what Marren brings next.
