Elevator pitch- four years after Dmitri, Pakhan of the Brooklyn Bratva, and Sarah, an assistant at a shipping company, meet and do the bow-chicka-wow-wow, she’s got a three-year-old and no clue how to get hold of Dmitri. Until he’s the defendant in a murder trial at which Sarah is going to testify. When she is threatened, he takes Sarah and their daughter under his protection, in his house. Thoughts- we’ve got some nice forced proximity going on, and a secret baby for the main tropes. I liked the smooth way the author used both. Alexis, the little girl, is absolutely adorable. I also liked that Dmitri was protective, but not an inherently violent Pakhan; the violence is expedient and always for a purpose. Sarah had plausible reasons for not telling Dmitri that Alexis was his baby. And she was very intelligent. Cat’s Stats Heat- explicit Bechdel test- fail Safety? Y Triggers- graphic violence, kidnapping, child endangerment. Tropes- secret baby, forced proximity, he ain’t heavy- he’s my Bratva, family ties, courtroom drama, single mom, adorable moppet, one night stand.

This is a new author to me with a story that has been done too many times to count, but did have a bit of a "gotcha" due to the fact that Sarah was to testify at Dimitri's trial where he is accused of murdering her boss. The beginning of the book was very slow and had some issues. This story needed an editor. Sentence structure and just spelling was off throughout the entire book. The relevance to the Bratva which is the Russian version of the Italian Mafia goes back and forth throughout the story, one time calling it the Bratva and the next the Mafia. The Pakhan and the Brigadier are the two top characters in the Bratva. There is no one in the chain of command called a "spy". The Pakhan is the supreme leader with the Brigadier being the number two guy. I understand that this is not an issue for some readers, but I been reading this genre for a very long time and just expect the author to do their homework before writing about any genre, especially the criminal underworld where there is so much diversity amongst the different crime families in the world, aka Syndicate, the Costa Nostra, the Cartel, etc.
The writing wasn't terrible but while the beginning of the book was slow the ending was too fast with little time spent on Sarah's abduction and the why's and the wherefores' as well as the players roles.
This was definitely a lighter version of the criminal underworld which is fine. Dimitri is a Pakhan who seems a bit challenged throughout the story and a bit slow on the uptake, but overall a fair guy, even in the criminal world.
Sarah should have told Dimitri earlier in the book about his daughter, but all is well that ends well. I will visit this author once she has gotten more stories under her belt in this genre and see if she has grown as an author in this kind of plot and storyline.
This has been a simply wonderful read, great plot and story that will hold readers captivated After what had been a one-night stand where there had been no exchange of names the unthinkable had happened and now it seemed that they had both met again in a courtroom. Dmitri who is the Bratva Pakhan is on trial for murdering Sarah’s boss, she is the woman he had a one-night stand with over four years ago. Then Sarah has the added fact that Dmitri is not aware of and that is that she had given birth to his baby and when he discovered that he is a father her daughter and it also seems that she had also been a witness to this murder and is at some risk so has moved into Dmitri’s home. This was a simply wonderful story and I guarantee that readers will be hooked to the very end when they discover the outcome. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.

This was a wonderful read and quite the cute story. I know, Bratva and cute isn't what you'd think but this one hits it perfectly :) Of course, that doesn't mean it's missing any of the toughness and grit of a mafia romance, but the melting of Dmitri's heart by little Alexis was chef's kiss. He and Sarah had a one-nighter that gave her a little more than planned, only she had no way to find Dmitri. It's now four years later and these two come face to face at his trial for murdering her boss. Yikes! Thankfully, he was innocent, but him moving her and her daughter into his home for protection from the Italian mafia blew open their chemistry. Neither forgot the other over all these years and I loved following them to a fab and steamy HEA. Expect to get caught up in the action, drama, danger, cuteness and spicy romance when you dive into this fun read :D
Thus is a story about a woman who finds out her boyfriend is cheating so she kicks him out and while he is packing his stuff she goes down the road to a bar she's never been to before. After a guy tries to pick her up and doesn't take no for an answer another dark and mysterious guy offers to get rid of him for her. They endnof spending the night together and don't see each other again for 4 years. The next time they see each other is when she gets called as a witness for the prosecution after her boss gets murdered. But the defendant is her daughters father. Great story. Has a behind the scene look into the Bratva and the Italian mafia.

Fast forward four years, after a one night stand where no names are exchanged, Sarah and Dmitri find themselves on opposite sides of the courtroom. Dmitri, as Bratva Pakhan, is on trial for murdering Sarah's boss. This was a good story that kept my interest with just the right amount of steam, romance and not over the top with violence. However, as Sarah is a witness, it was a bit farfetched to believe she is permitted to move into Dmitri's house without witness tampering charges being brought up. I also felt Sarah was too quick to accept Dmitri's lifestyle.
They meet at a bar when he comes to her aid that leads to an intimate encounter. Their next meeting is when she is set to testify against him for the murder of her boss and their dangerous path begins. It is a fabrication and Sarah is caught in the middle because she knows him from four years ago and he is also the only one that can keep her safe from his enemies. This action-packed story is filled with twists and turns that had me on the edge of my seat, and all caught up in the characters.

'A mafia king who looks at me like he remembers exactly what I felt like beneath him. A man who doesn’t know he has a child—and doesn’t forgive betrayal or lies.'
The characters were very complex and compelling and complicated and perfectly steamy together. Plot was intriguing and intense and well paced. World building was excellent and solidly drawn. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend!

Sarah needs to protect herself and her daughter. She doesn't know if she can trust Dmitri. Even through she remembers the passion they shared, she's having a hard time reconciling it against what he's being accused of. Dimitri remembers Sarah and now that he's found her again doesn't want to let her go. Regardless of the circumstances. There's action, danger and adventure galore as well as hot and steamy romance, that I found highly entertaining. .

Dmitri is on trial for murder when he sees Sarah, the woman he had spent a passionate night with four years prior. As the story progresses, she is placed in danger, and he is the only one that can keep her safe. What an exciting read, filled with steamy moments and genuine bond built on their complex emotions. I absolutely enjoyed Dmitri's interactions with his child. This was an excellent read.

The books that I have read from this author are normally MC books. Sarah and her boyfriend just broke us, she decides to go to a bar where she mets Dmitri. He saves her from an unwanted attention. The attraction is there between them where they shared a night, and shared a little secret. This book was a page turner for me from Sarah to Dmitri, and Little Alexis.

The author has given us a heart pounding story that pulls us into the lives of Dmitri, Sarah and her daughter, Alexis. The story keeps us turning the pages with a one-night stand, connection, secrets, danger, action and steam.

Solid romance with all the feels. This story brought what is expected from this type of book, danger, passion, unintentional secret baby, traitors, and family. I fell in love with the characters. Watching how swiftly Demitri fell was everything.

Funny thing to say about a story about the Bratva. But this IS a cute, steamy page-turner that has some violence and very protective, possessive men as expected. Really good reading.

I enjoyed this. I liked the characters and enjoyed the story. I felt some bits at the end were left unresolved but wander if these will be picked up in a future novel. A great read.

This was a fantastic mafia, one night stand, second chance, secret baby romance. It’s full of danger, secrets and action. I enjoyed Dmitri and Sarah’s steamy page turning romance and Alexis was a bonus.
Give me a good Mafia story and this was a great read. Power, betrayal is a given but finding what really matters in life is love and family. Sarah and Dmitri didn't know that their one night stand would change everything.
