It has been a minute since I disliked a book this much, but here we are.
The continuity errors aside of which there were forty bajillion, has the author ever interacted in humanity before? Because I have questions.
But I actually don't want to ask them because upon reading multiple other reviews on the author's other books, they have been accused of AI. And given the fact that they have no problem using Virtual Voice narration, we can assume they have no problem using AI.
This means they can just pop these reviews into AI and learn what to fix for their next book. For example, past books which featured hockey players criticized the lack of understanding around the timing of games. I assume that AI was given this feedback and therefore timing wasn't really important, so totally left out.
That being said, I would like to just casually ask AI to ensure that the next book includes a monkey with a hyper fixation for ricotta cheese. Maybe a tutu.

This has to be written by AI if not I assume the author hit publish on the first draft. So many things wrong with this book. The dialogue felt sometimes like 2 different conversations where there was no active listening and the characters were replying to half of the things the others have said (example: "you have to choose between A and B." "But what if I can't have both?". Well no shit, Sherlock. She just told you you have to CHOOSE. And no, I'm not gonna put the exact quote cause I don't want to open the book to get it).
Then I get that Lou is an artist and she likes to paint but it feels like in every scene she has paint on her fingers, in her hair, even when they get back from a wedding where you supposedly get ready and clean so how come she still has paint on her finger?
And I cannot get past the fact that the grandmother keeps betting on horses even if it's the last money they have. Gambling addiction is just as serious as any other form of addiction but in this book it's portrayed as something quirky.

A darling read! The banter and qualities of the characters was so cute! I loved the MMC's structured life, it kind of reminded me of Adrian Monk from the TV show Monk.
My only issue was the continuity errors. For example, when they get home from the wedding, it is mentioned that Silas is wearing JEANS?!?! And I know for that his character would never wear jeans to a wedding and also the suit is discussed when Gator brings him a light blue shirt.

Adequate
Good short read. I would have ditched Silas from the second he left the hallways so she’s a better woman than me. Glad I kept reading though because he really did have a lot of character growth!

Maybe 3.5⭐...but the errors and continuity issues made things come to a dead stop the more they happened.🤦🏼♀️
To be honest the premise was great...but the execution was really lacking. The most glaring instance was their first smeggsy time after Lou gets pregnant. Setting is after a wedding...multiplew tions of green dress and Silas changing things up with a light blue shirt with his navy suit. They didn't have any interactions previous to this time...but this entire scene felt like it was prewritten and then dropped into the appropriate place..jeans coming off, and just glaring consistency issues.
And after that it got worse.
Timing of birth, Cup finals, all of it just messed up the feelings that come with a well earned HEA. She flew with Silas at 38 weeks pregnant from Boston to Minnesota someplace and didn't stay the night...what?? The Silas from this book would never have let her take those risks.
But, again, I kept on reading.
Other books of hers have caught my eye but I'll be passing because I shouldn't get this worked up after a short read!

I love my hockey romances! And this one has all the goods! Hockey family shananigans, ice time, family drama, lust, love and opposites that attract.
I love Riley Keenan’s books. She has such a great way of writing and pulling you into the story and holding you there until the end.
This is the story of Silas, the goalie for the NHL team the Rebellion, and Lou, a struggling artist who paints murals. He is all broody and quiet and self loathing and she is sunshine and rainbows and noise and color.
When a blizzard strands them at a bar they make their way back to Silas’ penthouse and have an amazing one night stand. But that one night has consequences that neither of them foresaw. And now with no last names and not other information Lou has to track down Silas to inform him of their impending variable.
I love these characters. I related to both at different times during the story and was completely engrossed in their journey both together and separate.
Mimi is a riot and I loved her injection of humor, and I really hope to see another book written about Gator, Silas’ bff. I found it ironic that he has a bff and she doesn’t, not in the traditional sense. Normally it’s the girl who has the bff who is all up in everyone’s business but that wasn’t the case here. Gator is ridiculous and funny and compliments Silas extremely well.
If you like hockey and hard fought love with hard headed men, then give this book a read!.

THE BEST BOOK I HAVE READ IN A WHILE

There were so many favorite phrases in this book 📖 It was hard to pick one. But I loved this one. 😍
"Okay. Okay. We discussed this. The diaper situation is manageable. Hold still. Hold still. That is — okay, that's attempt two. We're fine. This is fine." The wailing intensified. "Attempt three. We are approaching this from a different angle. Literally. A different angle." Silence. Then Rook's babbling resumed, apparently satisfied. "There," Silas said. "Three attempts. Your mother would have done it better, but I believe in the process."
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "If 'Book Hangover' was a medical diagnosis, I’d be in the ICU right now. This story hit every single emotional note with the precision of a world-class orchestra. It has that rare 'vacation magic' where you forget your own name for 300 pages and then wake up at the end feeling like a brand new person. A true 5-star experience is supposed to feel like a high-end holiday for your imagination, and this one delivered a first-class ticket. It has that sense of completion that is so hard to find where every thread is tied, every emotion is earned, and you’re left sitting in silence for twenty minutes after the final period just staring at the wall. It’s that 'magical vacation' vibe where you’re sad it’s over, but you’re so filled with the warmth of the journey that you can’t even be mad at the flight home.

Struggled to finish
Reading the blurb I was excited for this book and really thought I would enjoy it but unfortunately for me, it fell flat. May contain small spoilers.
The story starts out pretty quick without any backstory to the characters which is probably why I’m disappointed in the rest of the book. It drew me in and I couldn’t wait to keep reading on. However once you get through the first few chapters it slows way down and it was hard to like either of the characters.
Lou (why would you give her an 85 year old man’s name when she had a perfectly cute first name 🙄) is an artist who was hired to paint a mural and this is where she lost me, decided to get up on a rickety scaffolding to complete it knowing she was pregnant. She kept using the excuse of having to pay rent but the idea of getting a job that has a guaranteed paycheck and maybe even health insurance never crossed her mind? I know it was new and she was still figuring things out but I just wasn’t a fan of the way she handled things. I guess I’m just not into the whole damsel in distress and a man having to save you instead of saving yourself.
Silas honestly could have been written as a serial killer in another book.
Overall this just wasn’t my favorite book but as far as the writing goes it was well written and seemed to be edited well.

Silas is guarded, focused, and shows very little emotion. Lou is his complete opposite—but together, they’re combustible. When life turns them into live‑in partners, it becomes a joy to watch them slowly unravel for each other, with the added influence of Mimi and Gator.
Silas gradually lets his guard down, opening himself up to Lou and, eventually, to his family. He also learns how to better handle both life and hockey. Lou reads him beautifully, understanding what he needs even when he can’t say it himself. The author weaves all of this into a love story that’s emotional yet funny, spicy but grounded—one that feels real and deeply satisfying.

This story hit me in a way I was not expecting and it held my attention from start to finish. The things that hit me were the long term impact on them from things that had happened in both their childhoods, the things we tell ourselves just so we can survive everything and anything, and showing up when you have so many reasons not to. 1. It was eleven seconds. For that being such a focus, to then get it wrong and have her tell him ten, is a big deal.
2. Never thought I'd say this but, I love a Gator. There you have it. Also, I need his HEA which will also include Silas and Lou, of course.
3. Mimi is adorably dysfunctionally functional. It should not make sense. It does for her.

I understand the sentiment behind Lou including in her vows -- "Your apartment full of color is the first place that has ever felt like home." -- yet it's like a slap in the face to the home Mimi created for her after Diane (Lou's mom/Mimi's daughter) abandoned her when she was seven. It's, essentially, saying the place she was raised in never felt like home. That's unnecessary and I'd be hurt if I was Mimi.

This book was fine. It was a quick read, I finished it in a day. There were several errors (both grammatical and continuity errors) in the book though that became hard to ignore at a point. It was almost like this book never got a proper editing and wasn't really proofread for the flow of the story. Additionally, it got to the point where the book just felt repetitive and was drawing on and on. I think this book could have ended 75 pages earlier than it did. I got to the point where I had heard the same few lines at least four or five times just in the last 100 pages. Overall, this book dragged on more than it needed to and I found myself majorly skimming everything by the end because I just wanted to finish the book.

Silas and Lou meet in a bar during a blizzard and have a magical night together where they actually connect over their idiosyncrasies. He’s an OCD hockey player who is needs to control everything. She’s a down on her luck but talented artist who’s struggling to make rent for herself and her grandmother. Both abandoned by their parents in different ways. She ends up pregnant and he’s just awful to her. Everyone gives him shit about it and there’s a vaguely appropriate amount of grovelling. I think the emotional break throughs and communication were great. Got slightly repetitive towards the end.

“Matched set”
I loved this beautiful disaster of a couple. They both brought different childhood experiences and perspectives to their relationship. Their relationships with their parents very much influenced the story and I love that it was a forefront of the story on both sides. I love that while the story may be based on the premise of an unplanned pregnancy bringing them together it wasn’t the primary storyline. The way secondary and found family can be your true family is shown here as well! Highly recommend!

2.5 Stars. Overall, the book was fine. It was a quick read. I liked Lou (FMC) and Silas (MMC). The pregnancy was there but also wasn't.
The book had weird timelines and questionable details, such as travelling while 38 weeks pregnant (the doctor 'cleared' her for travelling??). Hockey knowledge was okay, but the author really played with the finer details—i.e., no mention of the team travelling for away games or the convenient long periods between games (during the regular season and the post-season run for the Cup) that allowed the story to unfold. Someone mentioned AI might have been used?
I'm not a sports fan but thanks to my spouse and child, I know far more about most sports than I really care to. I've DNF'd many books because the author clearly lacks basic knowledge about the sport they're writing about (far too many to list). The characters drove the storyline and they were so very appealing and likeable and complicated and perfectly steamy together. Plot was intriguing and exciting and well paced. World building was excellent and impressive. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.

This deserves 10 stars
This is my first book from this author and I am so happy I found it. This book was perfect. 10/5 stars. Funny, emotional, whitty, I seriously loved every page. I have never highlighted so many lines in a book before. So many things spoke to me it was like the author knew my struggles too. This is such a beautiful story and I cannot recommend you read it enough. I'm about to text all my reader friends to get a copy too!

Great
This was deeper and more emotional than I was expecting. It’s basically a story about pain and healing. Lou was wonderful but Silas just blew me away. The character’s journey felt so real. His mental health challenges and, if I’m not mistaken, neurodivergence, were handled so incredibly well. But the book wasn’t only deep and emotional, it was so funny! Mimi and Gator were the best. This is a new author to me but I look forward to reading more of their stuff.

I didn't like it, the robotic speech and demeanor of the hero was interesting at first but at some point I was tired of it.
Also it was annoying how each of the main characters when it was their perspective, they would say what the other was feeling based on facial expressions. It would have been fine if it was a few times but it felt like it happened every single chapter.

Chaos meeting order- i love these twp coming together bringing such different aspects, yet being so similar in so many ways, they just express it differently. This may be one of the first hockey romance books I've read that didnt have more teammate interactions (but man do I love Gator) but it didn't take away, it seemed appropriate given Silas' structure and resistance to any change from his structured life.

I have read several books by the author in the last couple of months and this was my favorite by far. I loved the way it was written. Both MC’s have serious issues to deal with. Silas is so neuro divergent and I enjoyed his though processes. Well written with interesting characters and really steamy steam.

Best book I've read in a while.
It has laugh-out-loud moments with some very steamy scenes, making it a thoroughly engaging read.
I didn't want to finish it, so I'm looking forward to exploring more of this author's work, hopefully something with Gator 🤞
I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an entertaining and passionate story.

another written by AI
Can we please get AI written novels off kindle? This was a waste of time. You can tell by the sentence structure, the way the characters speak to each other, the way the paragraphs and dialogue is set up. Don’t waste your time, read books written by someone that is a master of their craft, not AI.

A story of 2 loners and chance encounter
It’s a good palate cleanser, just take as it comes and enjoy the read.
The biggest hurdle for me is the lack of friendships and no strong sense of team camaraderie. Silas has Gator and Lou has her MiMi, but that’s it for support characters.

Good romance
Lou and Sylas meet in a bar during a snow storm. Both are attracted to each other and she spends the night with him. Three months later she learns she's expecting his baby. She meets him at the hockey arena to tell him she's having his baby and he accusing her of wanting money and says she's nobody! A really good hockey love story.

Sweet
Thoughtful quiet commentary on battling your demons.
Mental health struggles with ocd and some sort if neurospicy mmc.
It's super sweet though.
Draws you in, isn't all hockey gung ho, instead it's thoughtful, measured, slow.
There's only x2 intimacy scenes, they are great, well written, emotional, hot, but that's a low level of spice for a hockey book, just saying!

Lovely story.
This was a sweet story. The MMC and FMC have great banter and witty comebacks. The MCs both are dealing with unhealed trauma from their childhoods who are trying to overcome.

It just sucks you in it’s that good

grabs your heart
What a absolutely beautiful story from the first chapter to the last! I for one understand OCD and this story hits on a lot of the struggles that come with it. What a beautiful story made me laugh and smile through the whole story.
