I like most of this story.
A young girl who has stood in the background all her life. People telling her what to do. Till on the day of her engagement. When she find her boyfriend and cousin having sex in the library.
Everyone expects her still to go ahead with the wedding .
To their surprise she tells them she will now marry another member of the family. Who has been ignored by the family all his life.
For these two people it is the start of a new life . Which other people are not happy about.
Lot happening, I liked both the main characters. Glad the idiot boyfriend got his comeuppance.
But for me to much wrote about engineering.

It was okay
The idea behind the book was a good one. But I'll say this... The author made the book overly descriptive. It became very distracting, and took away from the story rather than adding to it. A example of this that bothered me the most was, an observation being made, followed by not in the way..., not in the way..., but in the way...
Nearly every page followed the same blueprint. Due to this, the book was winded, quiet, and formal. I found myself reading it at a surface level, never getting into it, and wanting it to be done.
The descriptions were often repeated, and I thought a few times I was reading the same passages more than once. Sometimes, the descriptions wouldn't match up. An example being that earlier in the book he was deft and sure while removing something, but then later on when the FMC was recalling it he was nervous and fumbled. Again, that kept me surface level.

The content of this book and quality of writing far outpace the purple prose of the title. The revenge thread was satisfying and the geekiness of both leads was a refreshing change. This author has the chops to write a story with fewer tropes and cliches, and I look forward to discovering that book.

3.5. Rated R. Contemporary Romance
Yes, it’s one of those cheating books. BUT this one is pretty good.
Two important billionaire families have to intermarry for the business. (Does that really happen?)
But the MFC walks in on her fiancé fucking another. Oh no!
Does he apologize? No
Does the family say she must, for the business? Yes
But she comes up with another choice…..the black sheep of the family. Who is a swoony awesome hero.
This was an enjoyable read. If you are into this genre, I would recommend.

I'm mad I bothered with this book at all, honestly. AI had to have been used.
I'm not one to throw around AI accusations, but it's glaringly obvious that this book was written using AI, if not wholly than at least the majority of it. Typos and misnaming characters once or twice that some people use as "evidence" to accuse authors of AI can easily be a people error, but the issues I've found in this book are more than that.
I've seen people say em dashes, listing things in threes, Oxford commas, and ellipses are all signs of AI, and people have hopped on that, but use alone isn't enough - they need to be used a LOT, which this author did. I have my tablet on the smallest font size and at several points I couldn't see a single paragraph on the entire screen that didn't have an em dash in it. I've listed more points below, with specifics of things that I believe are reason enough that this is AI work, which, honestly, is disappointing, because the storyline itself could've been so enjoyable.
There were a few inconsistencies that don't scream "AI wrote this!" like when Natalie saw Elijah for the first time since they were kids she used his last name, then a chapter later she's all "omg I don't even know his last name" which, even if she didn't know him before, how could she not? He's not a stranger. She grew up knowing who he was. That's like saying you don't know the last name of someone who's family by association instead of blood.
Then it was mentioned that Anna got fired from Caldwell Motors but oh wait just kidding no she's not, now that we need to access her emails she actually DOES work there again. The timeline inconsistencies were probably the most frustrating.
*Spoiler alert, since this next one is a major plot point and happens at like 80% in the book and is a so-called climax.*
The timeframe between the article about Elijah actually being Gregory's son and not his ward being released, Natalie going over to confront the Norrises about who leaked it, getting the company IT of Caldwell Motors to pull Anna's emails and finding evidence, drafting legal letters regarding breach of contract and NDAs, then to bring Anna in who of course says "you can't prove Chase told me, so I didn't actually break the NDA" and Natalie to go "Chase confirmed it 20 mins ago when I was at the Norrises" despite the impossibility of ALL that having all been done in 20 mins. Not to mention, the article was released at 7:14am and she went to the Norrises' shortly after, but the meeting to fire Anna was at 3pm sooo, no to that having only been 20 mins ago instead of 6 hours.
Then the fact that when they were discussing Elijah's mother's illness, they mentioned how they couldn't afford treatments. They lived in France, which has universal healthcare lol they wouldn't have had to pay for the treatments or any out of pocket costs she needed but sure.
Also, not a timeline thing but at the wedding, Elijah's dad walked him down the aisle and it was mentioned that it "wasn't the arm-in-arm escort of a traditional wedding party" which would make sense if it was the bride and her father but uh, I can't find info on Google about it being a tradition anywhere that the groom is walked down the aisle by his dad while linking arms lol.
Now, these are the things that screamed AI wrote a large majority, if not all, of this book:
- look at how long each book the author has released is and how frequently they're published. Like, what do you mean the books are mostly between 350-450 pages and released every 2-3 weeks? Nobody can write a book that fast, and even if they somehow can, nobody can proofread, edit, and publish them that quickly
- AI generated covers are just a slippery slope, and if someone uses AI for their covers, wouldn't be much of a leap to use it in their writing too
- I picked a random section in a chapter and counted every paragraph (not including one sentence sections, just paragraphs) and 15 out of 17 paragraphs in a row had em dashes.
- Most things that would be listed would be in groups of 3. Like whenever something said about scent, an observation, literally anything that could be compared or described, there'd always be 3 examples used. Like the em dashes, on their own or sprinkled throughout is one thing, especially since humans love our groups of 3, but it was used sooo much. Here's an actual quote to show they were practically back to back at some points: "...the details were unmistakable. The Paris flat. The paintings. The illness. The article mentioned the engagement swap. The launch party. The Caldwell alliance." Over the next 4 paragraphs, there were several more instances of the grouping of 3 items.
- it's written in third person POV so there's no specific POV each chapter which is fine, even if not my personal preference. However characters would have knowledge they shouldn't (i.e Anna's thinking about how Chase's face looked during a meeting she wasn't at, or Natalie referencing Chase being smacked by his mum smacked him in the library when it was only Chase and his parents)

Sigh
There were parts of this book that were fine, but there were big chunks that sounded like it was AI assisted. I don’t think it was just used for grammar and spelling checks either, it was like AI wrote huge sections of it.
It was a strange mix. There were times the characters had a lot of emotions, then times where they were robotic
If I had to guess, I’d say I think this author is a little more experienced at using AI than most. 🤷♀️
I will be so glad when books/authors are required to put in their books the % of AI used. There’s a huge difference in books that just use AI for spelling or grammar checks versus one who rewrites whole paragraphs or pages.
Anyway, since I thought a lot of this was AI, I just couldn’t quit nitpicking at everything. The villains were OTT and cartoon’ish, the plot just went round and round, and the smex was cringe. 🤷♀️

This one’s my favorite…
This has a cheater trope, obviously, where the groom to be cheated with the bride to be’s cousin. The FMC literally finds him, shall we say, engaged. She has ignored the red flags for eleven years and this time, she’s finally done. I can’t imagine a fiancé who would do this in the middle of the actual engagement party. I especially find her cousin to be extremely trashy for engaging in that behavior with him. She’s from the poor side of the family and thinks she can gain power by being the mistress, but of course she’s wrong.
The FMC runs outside and crashes into the MMC. he’s the illegitimate son of the fiancé’s grandfather. He’s 33, and the FMC is 25. They met 20 years ago when she was a child, but he remembers her because of her interactions with him. I loved the elephant animal crackers story.
They haven’t met since, but that’s the beginning of their relationship journey, and it’s really lovely.
KU read and highly recommended. This one is definitely a keeper.
Note that this is listed as Book 7 in the series. I can’t remember the name now, but there was supposed to be a different Book 6 that isn’t in the series list.

So I gave this book the benefit of the doubt.
there are 8 books to this series and I have also read book 1.
its obviously AI written - one of the better ones but whoever "Quinn Shepard" is she is benefitting from the proceeds of a stolen plot. The series is on Kindle Unlimited.
These 8 books have been churned out is a short space of time. It's impossible feat for a human author to write so fast.

Groom Swap, Book 7 of The Revenge Wives series, was about 25-year-old Natalie Caldwell, a powertrain engineer for the Caldwell Motors company, as well as the eldest daughter of the Caldwell Motors family, and 33-year-old Elijah Mercer, the CEO of Mercer Energy, and the adopted ward (and unofficial b*st*rd child) of the Norris Industries family.
When Natalie found 27-year-old Chase Norris having sex with her cousin at their engagement party, she wanted to call off the wedding. However, since it was a merger between their families, and he was supposedly the last Norris left, he told her she didn't have a choice. But then she confronted both families with his duplicity...and said she would marry his uncle, Elijah Mercer, instead.
Finally, a book where both of the main characters were well-off, intelligent, and had productive lives! It's a rarity to find such a storyline in a romance novel, but this one hit every mark dead on. Yes, the story had all of the usual tropes: angst, drama, betrayal, and the ever-present emotional rollercoaster. Even the push/pull and conflict were well written.
There was a lot of growth done, mainly by the FMC, but even the MMC had his moments. It was nice to read about a couple who communicated and, yes, fought, walked away, then fixed things before they went too far. That is also unusual in such a genre.
I gave this book a four-star rating because it honestly earned it.

3.5-4 stars. My first book by this author. Apparently part of a series, but it's clearly standalone, and it appears the books are linked by themes only, rather than characters. (Although I would read a book starring Edward, the brother of the FMC of this one). The book wasn’t really a ‘revenge’ romance so much as an overlooked woman finding herself and taking her place in the world. It was however quite satisfying to see the doubters’ and troublemakers’ jaws drop when Natalie stood up for herself.
The subtitle of this book is pretty lurid, and didn't bode well for the read, but I saw a rec for it on my feed and thought I'd try it. KU, so why not? And I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the writing and the plotting. The book is much better than I expected it to be. The long opening scene at the FMC Natalie's engagement party was completely engrossing, and I couldn't help but read on. As stated in the subtitle, Natalie catches her fiancé Chase cheating, in flagrante. Ouch! They've been an item since both were teens. Natalie believed they loved each other, but now her eyes have been opened. She is forced to be honest, and reflect on the numerous occasions when she made excuses to herself about Chase's dodgy or suspicious behaviours, because he kept telling her he loved her. Hmm.
Natalie is angry, and somehow a switch is flipped. The tipping point has been reached. (I'm not gonna take it 🎶) The quiet, retiring, well-behaved woman who is very good at not being noticed by the crowd, is replaced by someone who insists on telling it like it is. She dumps Chase, who can't believe the sweet, subservient fiancée he has taken for granted has been transformed into a woman who will stand up to him.
But the two high-powered families are linked by their businesses, and a broken engagement will create lots of damaging PR. So Natalie announces she will marry another member of Chase's family instead, his foster uncle Elijah, a kind of black sheep who is actually only a few years older than Chase. Elijah plays along, and the engagement becomes real.
The story follows Natalie's character growth, along with the deepening romance between the two MCs. Natalie is a clever engineer who has been hiding her light under a bushel. Working for the family business in a male-dominated field (the car industry), she has been overlooked at work because most think she's only there because of her family connections. And she’s a woman to boot. There are some satisfying scenes and moments when Natalie shows what she’s really made of, and her co-workers (as well as her family) finally sit up and take notice.
The romance was decent. Elijah (also an engineer) and Natalie have a lot in common, and their connection was believable, even though it started in such an unusual way. When Elijah’s secrets are made public, Natalie (and the author) dealt with it in a reasonable way, and the end of the book was quite satisfying. The narcissistic Chase was left with nothing, while Elijah and Natalie had clearly found their soul mates in each other.
It’s not a perfect book. Although I generally liked the author’s deliberate style of writing, which tended to list details of scenes and moments, it did become a little tiresome at times. The engineering stuff was a little overdone sometimes too, especially in one love scene where it was used to create (to me) inappropriate metaphors. Yeah, no.
There were a couple of scenes that stretched credulity a little, although the author did explain how/why it might have happened. It was convincing enough for me to say, OK, I’ll just run with it then. There was also a moment when Natalie’s brother Edward overreacted to learning that Natalie and Elijah were sleeping together. Hello, they’re engaged? I couldn’t see the problem, and Edward’s reaction just seemed silly and out of character.
But overall, I liked this read. I whipped through the book in fact, and I will definitely try some of the others in the series, even though they too have slightly lurid subtitles. They’re on KU, so nothing lost if I try ‘em 😊

Elijah plays along, and the engagement becomes real.
The story follows Natalie's character growth, along with the deepening romance between the two MCs. Natalie is a clever engineer who has been hiding her light under a bushel. Working for the family business in a male-dominated field (the car industry), she has been overlooked at work because most think she's only there because of her family connections. And she’s a woman to boot. There are some satisfying scenes and moments when Natalie shows what she’s really made of, and her co-workers (as well as her family) finally sit up and take notice.
The romance was decent. Elijah (also an engineer) and Natalie have a lot in common, and their connection was believable, even though it started in such an unusual way. When Elijah’s secrets are made public, Natalie (and the author) dealt with it in a reasonable way, and the end of the book was quite satisfying. The narcissistic Chase was left with nothing, while Elijah and Natalie had clearly found their soul mates in each other.
It’s not a perfect book. Although I generally liked the author’s deliberate style of writing, which tended to list details of scenes and moments, it did become a little tiresome at times. The engineering stuff was a little overdone sometimes too, especially in one love scene where it was used to create (to me) inappropriate metaphors. Yeah, no.
There were a couple of scenes that stretched credulity a little, although the author did explain how/why it might have happened. It was convincing enough for me to say, OK, I’ll just run with it then. There was also a moment when Natalie’s brother Edward overreacted to learning that Natalie and Elijah were sleeping together. Hello, they’re engaged? I couldn’t see the problem, and Edward’s reaction just seemed silly and out of character.
But overall, I liked this read. I whipped through the book in fact, and I will definitely try some of the others in the series, even though they too have slightly lurid subtitles. They’re on KU, so nothing lost if I try ‘em 😊

Absolutely Satisfying!!!

Natalie is a thermal engineer, and also a daughter of a VERY affluent family. She has always known she’d marry Chase, the high school quarterback, and son of her family’s partner. On the day of their engagement party Natalie finds Chase having sex with Anna, her cousin. Chase calmly tells her to redo her makeup and go back to the party. Natalie, who has spent her life being invisible to her family, and the world, tells him NO! Good girl!!!
Natalie confronts Chase’s family and her own, telling them the engagement is off. Both families tell her she cannot cancel the “partnership” between the Caldwells and Norris’s. She tells them, fine, I’ll marry a different Norris, I’ll marry Elijah, the adopted ward of the Norris family, Chase’s uncle (oohhh soooo satisfying!). Chase’s family disagree, but Edward, Natalie’s brother reminds them all that Elijah has a battery company that is worth more than the Norris empire three times over. Natalie’s father, and Elijah’s grandfather agree to swapping out the grooms.
Chase still doesn’t believe all this is real. He continues to tell his family, and Natalie, that she’s throwing a tantrum, and she’ll be back…like she always has been back, everytime. The silent, quiet, unassuming girl that everyone thinks they know. But Natalie is not that girl anymore. She begins to stand up for herself at work, and in her personal life. Elijah is steadily by her side. He begins to pick her up for dinner, and they realize that they both have been invisible up until now.
They quietly fall in love…it’s lovely! But Anna Holt, the heinous cousin is an insidious presence! When Chase gets drunk after being dressed down by his father, he spills the secret of his family…Elijah is not a ward, he’s the “bastard” child of his grandfather. His grandfather had an affair with Elijah’s Parisian mother thirty three years ago, and quietly just left them to return to his family and company. When Elijah’s mom died he brought Elijah to America and made him his ward.

Natalie of course tells him to get lost and then marries her love, Elijah!!

This book is a gem! I’m so glad I picked it up. I enjoyed it so much that I’m going to read all the books in the “revenge series.” It has been a long time since I’ve read a book where the FMC gets satisfying revenge on the evil, heinous male(s) in her life! Authors these days just don’t dish out revenge well. But Quinn delivers!!! Natalie blooms under Elijah’s quiet care! And Elijah is SEEN for the first time in his life. I would’ve given this book 5 stars if 1) it was longer - I honestly wanted more, it was that good and 2) something worse happened to Chase - yup I’m evil, I want complete and utter ruination (lol). This book was like a script from the K-drama serials you come across everywhere online now! It wasn’t long, but it was very satisfying!!! Well done, Quinn, very well done! Cheers to you!

INTERESTING … GOOD IN ITS OWN WAY
While the story plot is a classic, common one, the writing style is a bit stiff.
Still, I found it enjoyable. Seeing someone like Chase forced into a position to recognize how things really are, yet still never really seeing, was satisfying. He got his just desserts. But in the end, he still didn’t realize he deserved what he got. That he brought it on himself. He was too much of a narcissist. The classic rich boy who thought he could do whatever he wanted and still land on his feet, because he always had. No one had ever made him accountable until Natalie.
Watching Natalie’s growth, she developed a spine and a sense of self-worth. She had support from Elijah who really saw her. She really saw him. Two people that nobody bothered to see for most of their lives. Finally her brother Edward saw her, her father started to. Her sister Lily always had.
For Elijah, his father Gregory, finally stepping up to acknowledge him as his son. His hand had been forced, but in the end he did what he should’ve done from the beginning.
I understand to some degree Eleanor’s feelings as the betrayed wife. Gregory fathered a child with another woman during their marriage. However, punishing the child is never the answer. The child, Elijah, was innocent in the whole situation. What she did to Elijah was cruel, cold and heartless.
Lots of interesting side characters, Anna, the other engineers. Edward, Lily, Victoria, William, Phillip, etc…
Victoria was a piece of work also. Attempting to control the narrative, trying to force Natalie back with her son Chase. On some level, I believe she understood that her son wasn’t capable of any real love or depth. Chase had been pampered, spoiled, and told he was so much more than he actually was. She bore some culpability for that. I guess Victoria was typical of women who marry into that type of money and prestige? Typical of women who sacrifice a real relationship with genuine love and respect so they can have the lifestyle money brings along with the status the name comes with.
Anyway, it’s worth reading. And has a decent HEA, although I would like an epilogue further into the future showing when Elijah and Natalie have a child together.

So it is 3rd person POV, which is not my favorite but what I disliked about this was that there were characters that got a POV but it didn’t denote that it was a different pov. It just became a different pov.
With 3rd person pov a story already feels like it’s omnipresent - but there’s no way Natalie knew Victoria slapped Chase. Chase wouldn’t have told anyone and it was just him and his parents.
I don’t know why at 33, people were shocked to find out the “ward” was his child from an affair.
At one point it says “the things they’ve done to each other” besides existing Elijah didn’t do anything to Gregory.
It’s annoying that we never got Phillip’s pov if we’re gonna get everyone else’s. I’m annoyed that we wasted so much time with Gregory’s wife that we never saw but that loomed over everything. Gregory really needed to grow a pair.
I’m not sure how Natalie was protecting Elijah but it was a good story.
Another omnipresent issue, Chase said Anna was fired and working a new job but then Anna was still with Caldwell and able to use those connections then Natalie fired her.
They also said Elijah fixed the Fiat when that was Gregory.

Natalie was the equivalent of a human doormat for her family and her arranged fiance for years. At least eleven, to be precise. How does that happen? Your guess is as good as mine. But, the ways of the doormat are forever altered on the evening of her engagement party to Chase. But not because she suddenly looks around and realizes she should stop turning the other cheek. No. She finds her jerk of a fiance porking her cousin Anna in a dressing room.
That's right. Dear Chase is a proverbial poop stain of a human being. And it's not his first time cheating. He's bold enough to suggest she get over it. And Natalie does the unexpected. She informs her father and brother as well as Chase's family that she will not marry him. The merger between their families (and companies) requires a wedding certificate. So. Natalie says she will marry Elijah, a member of Chase's family.
The book itself is full of believable engineering and math jargon. I'm no engineer of course, but it felt real. Beyond that, you have Natalie's personal growth as well as the relationship between her and Elijah. What starts off as mutual respect quickly blossoms into something neither expected.
Honestly, I didn't have many expectations when I picked up this book. But, color me surprised. 5 stars.

Overall story has potential, but the words are overcomplicated.
'The words landed on Chase like debris. He stood in his father's office — the office he'd assumed he would inherit, the chair he'd assumed he would fill — and absorbed a truth that had been approaching for weeks and had finally arrived: he was not the center of this story. He had never been the center. He was a peripheral character in a narrative that had outgrown him, and the woman he'd dismissed for eleven years was the one driving it.' - I kid you not the ENTIRE book reads this way. Overall, the story & plot were good. But it was overwhelmed with words, like being on an aircraft, the large commercial flight ones, not the small ones where there's no first class; and ever row is mostly filled with babies. Not the babies that sleep through anything, the ones that never stop crying, and every wail is a piercing pitch. Lol do you catching what I'm throwing here? People don't talk like that and I definitely don't enjoy reading it. Not one to throw AI around carelessly, but if it wasn't used here then I apologize to the writer. Because it's all very robotic without much depth.

A Revenge Story Where the New Romance is Warmth
Usually when you read a revenge story the book is heavy on the revenge and light on the new romance. Groom Swap surprised me in offering a satisfying revenge, but also a delightful new romance for the heroine. Part of the difference is that there was a full backstory for the hero, and as a reader you cheered for his good fortune as much as hers.
Their relationship was one of mutual respect and understanding that then turned into physical desire. Always throughout everything there was the genuine feeling of warmth towards each other that you rarely feel in a romance, and I felt it made this story stand out for me.
But don’t worry, the villains of the story get their comeuppance, though again I found it to be in a classier form than many of this genre. And there were very few slapping scenes, much to my relief. (If someone could please explain why those are so frequent in books like this I’d love to know.)

Great Read- relatable female character
This was an excellent read that kept me engaged from beginning to end. The plot twists were perfectly timed!
What stood out most was the main character’s journey. She begins in a vulnerable, uncertain place, but as the story unfolds, she transforms into a strong, intelligent, and capable woman. Her character’s growth feels authentic, not forced, and you can’t help but root for her every step of the way.
The writing is engaging, the pacing is spot-on, and the twists add just the right amount of suspense without feeling overdone. If you enjoy stories with clever storytelling and powerful female leads who evolve in meaningful ways, this book is absolutely worth reading.

Great Read for a Lazy Day
I couldn't put it down, and I couldn't stop rooting for our couple! I wish I could give it 4.5 ⭐'s! I feel like the word "structural" was over used & maybe the author should look out for distracting repetition going forward. I also felt that their 1st conflict was predictable, but I still enjoyed the story. There are a few spots that need editing, because the wrong name is used or an inconsistent fact (Anna being fired twice) slipped through, but again it doesn't take away much from the story.
Great romance, great reparations of familial relationships, great healing & building up self worth/confidence and great revenge! I'd recommend this to read.

Natalie and Elijah are standout characters, both bringing an engineering, nerdy outlook on life that I didn’t fully understand at times, yet I was still completely riveted by their storyline. In this trope, it’s common for the female lead’s emotional struggles to become repetitive and drawn out, but here they are addressed efficiently without slowing the narrative.
And Elijah—honestly, I love him. He’s the ultimate guy you want: grounded, intelligent, and quietly compelling.

You know the moment in the book when a character proven everyone's is wrong, earn those respect with a silent support of other main character, and then came moment where she proves again that she can reciprocate those support.... it's just (chef kiss)
The power balance here, you won't find a damsel in distress, that needs Prince Charming saving all times. I find myself never skimming pages. My petty heart is satisfied, my romantic heart is singing, and my horny brain didn't complain. There's that!

arranged marriage to the wrong man
Eleven years of making herself smaller lead to her finding her strength and that she didn’t need a man to build her up. She could do it herself. I love the recurring theme of being seen. After shrinking herself for so long she started to find her voice.
She did find a man though. Who watched her and knew when she was uncomfortable. Knew when she needed a moment. Knew when she needed encouragement to shine her best. Love his quiet love and her trading up.

I liked the story overall , it was very informative if you were a person who was interested in thermal engineering. I just wasn’t a fan of the writing style. I really dislike when authors use the sentence structure “it wasn’t this, it wasn’t the but it was something?” Once or twice to use the descriptive narrative I could let slide but it was consistently throughout. It comes down to the narrator being lazy and unimaginative. I will read the next book because it too sounds interesting hopefully the writing picks up.

Wow!

It was wonderfully written; with heart, with humor and with a slow love for two characters that were invisible. Quinn Shepard has written a story that was engaging and I couldn’t put it down. Grammatically well-written but reads like AI
I started reading this book because I liked the premise. However a few chapters in, I couldn’t shake the feeling of the writing being stilted and strangely impersonal. So I went to the reviews to read what others had to say and one person wrote that the book “was okay if you like AI slop”. And in my head, I said, “yes, that’s it!” It reads completely like AI. It’s saying the right things but in a very canned way. I don’t know if it is AI or if the author just leaned heavily on AI to write it but either way, it’s disappointing.
I started reading this book because I liked the premise. However a few chapters in, I couldn’t shake the feeling of the writing being stilted and strangely impersonal. So I went to the reviews to read what others had to say and one person wrote that the book “was okay if you like AI slop”. And in my head, I said, “yes, that’s it!” It reads completely like AI. It’s saying the right things but in a very canned way. I don’t know if it is AI or if the author just leaned heavily on AI to write it but either way, it’s disappointing.

This had the feel of one of those free or pay per chapter drama stories, but it is on Kindle Unlimited. I liked the summary, but I went in with low expectations because these types of stories usually have plot holes or messy writing.
This one surprised me in a good way. The story flowed well, the character development was actually there, and I really liked how the FMC handled everything. I also liked how the family handled the situation, which added a lot to the story instead of just being background drama.
There is a lot of drama, but it is the entertaining kind. If you like those cheesy, dramatic romance stories with lots of twists and emotional moments, this is definitely a must read.

Self discovery!
This story has far more dimension than a revenge story. Elijah and Natalie have been invisible within their own families. Elijah left at eighteen to make his own way while Natalie strived to meet her family's arranged marriage set when she was in high school.
Breaking expectations and making choices caused Natalie many anxious times as she learns to assert herself with Elijah cheering her on.
Worth reading again and looking forward to more from this author.
