He lost his job for her. Now she IS his job.She told him to leave. He changed her locks instead.
Roxy Gallagher survives on double shifts, bad tips, and the stubborn refusal to let this city break her. She doesn't need saving. She doesn't need a man. She definitely doesn't need the massive, silent, tattooed bouncer who stands by the door of The Rusty Nail every night and watches her like she's the only thing in the room worth looking at.
Gideon Locke doesn't talk. Hasn't spoken a word in years. He communicates through actions—a replaced deadbolt, a fixed pipe, a man's face driven into a wall when hands land where they shouldn't.
When a customer crosses the line with Roxy, Gideon crosses every line there is. He loses his job. Gains a criminal record. And decides that since he sacrificed everything to protect her, she now belongs to him.
He follows her home. Breaks into her apartment. Leaves a note on her kitchen
YOU OWE ME.
What begins as a terrifying invasion becomes something Roxy can't explain—and can't resist. Gideon doesn't ask. He provides. He fixes every broken thing in her life with the same hands that broke a man's bones for touching her. He installs locks she didn't request, cooks meals she didn't order, and stands between her and a world that has been taking pieces of her since she was seventeen.
He is possessive. Obsessive. Unhinged.
And for the first time in her life, Roxy sleeps through the night.
But Gideon's violence drew the wrong attention. Dangerous men are coming for them both. And the silent protector who built a fortress to keep her safe is about to prove that the most terrifying thing in the dark isn't what's hunting you—
It's what's hunting for you.
This novel contains mature themes including stalking, home invasion, graphic on-page violence, explicit intimate scenes, morally complex situations, and an antihero who does not apologize for what he is. Intended for readers 18+. Reader discretion is strongly advised.
I think my only issue is I wish his background of knowing how to deal with certain stuff was told more. It is very wordy and maybe because Gideon is mute, but sometimes description can get to wordy.
