Gareth Ian Davies was born and raised in the south of London , during which time he wrote many terrible things and dreamed of becoming a novelist. Instead, he earned a degree in Physics from the University of Bristol and didn’t quite know what to do with it. After moving to the American Midwest he flirted with a career in nuclear engineering before taking the somewhat safer path as a software architect.
He spent the next three decades writing code and technical documentation, before finally realizing his dream by publishing his first novel. Gareth lives in St. Louis with his wife, her sadly declining fish population, two cats, and a cockatiel.
xavier and his whole found family crew have my entire heart. the world building is insane but somehow the pacing never drags like you just get thrown right into the chaos with no time to catch your breath. the tension between the fae and humans is soooo good and the political stuff actually makes sense instead of being confusing af
i was screaming at the book at like 2am because the banter between the siblings was too perfect and then the emotions just hit meeeee. I wanted to hug every single character, especially xavier, sharol, and ruian.
BUT THE CLIFFHANGER?! PLZZZZZZZ😭😭😭 why would you do that to me? I am literally waiting for book 2 like it is going to be released tomorrow.
if you want a revolution, magic and a story that will make you feel everything all at once, you neeeeeed to read this.
5 stars for sure. send help (and book 2) immediately. 🖤✨

ᖇEᐯIEᗯ: I'm not always a fan of politics, but the injustice towards folk people really struck a nerve and enraged me. This did not feel like it was 292 pages long. Action and chaos hit from the first chapter, and the multiple POVs keep you immersed in the world-building and character development. Gareth really packed a lot into this one! Drama, tension, some banter between siblings, and murder in broad daylight, to name just a few. The bridge scene had me on the edge of my seat, sweating. Explosions. Magic. A sprinkle of forbidden love. The revolution is well underway & that cliffhanger ending has me waiting for more.
Pɾαʅιƙ Oɳҽ Rαʋҽɳ: "It is fascinating that creating beauty such as this produces more, and purer truesilver than menial tasks. Naturally, it pleases me also. I can sometimes forget that I live in the midst of the largest human city in Novomond, and believe myself roaming the pristine forests of my ancestors.”

Gareth, thank you for the opportunity to take a peak into this story and your story creation.
There are no spoilers in this review. This is a story you need to experience yourself.
I will start as follows! Thank you for including when the story takes place. There are so many stories that lack information on when the story is set, and I find myself struggling to place myself in the story. You did this wonderfully.
The action was there from the beginning. You are taken through intense discussions and experiences early on, but it does not lax as the story continues.
The pace is excellent. Gareth does not waste time on building the world and explaining what is happening. The character arcs are exactly the amount you need to know for the characters you are encountering on book 1. You learn to love and hate these characters from the moment you meet them.
The evolution and growth you live through with the characters are palpable and enjoyable. The sibling banter is just on point.
The fact that you took pieces of contemporary history and past history is amazing as it adds to the lore and the story behind it.
Now to the bad part..........The CLIFFHANGER! AAAAAAHHH. Now I have to wait for book 2 and this is going to be my demise. Haha
Thank you so much for the amazing story of the Chaos Walkers, and I can not wait until I meet these characters again in the next story. Your Two Snake Fan. 😉
Y'all. Within two chapters, if that, I was ready to throw down for Jek One Raven. Then my feelings just compounded along the way. There were so many times I was screaming at the book or reading with my mouth open in shock or full on sob crying. I felt all of the emotions possible throughout the book and by the end I didn't know if I could take anymore. I honestly want to wrap my arms around Xavier and Sharol and Ruian. My heart still hurts.
This book just came out, literally, and I cannot wait for book two. I have so many questions about how the characters will deal with so many things.
This book is absolutely amazing!!! Gareth just knows how to suck you into his stories and keep you hooked, wanting more. The characters are so good, some you cant help but love and others you will hate with a burning passion. The twists and turns from this adventure will have you screaming from the chaos. I can't wait for book 2!!
Another amazing read from Gareth! This book pulled me in from the start. Twist and turns around every corner. The world he has created is like no other I have read before and I loved everything about it. I can't wait to see what comes next!
This book is really really good! I was into it right from the beginning until the cliffhanger ending. Loved the world that the story takes place in and learning about the families that the story is told through, that being the human West family, the LightFolk One Raven family, and the DarkFolk ti-Lan'ot family.
