Liss Montoya is an author of Contemporary Romance with Latine/Hispanic characters sprinkled throughout her heartfelt and spicy stories. Liss was born and raised in Colombia, South America and moved to the United States in her early twenties to pursue a PhD degree. She later became a biology teacher and currently works in the early childhood development field. When she’s not working or writing, you can find her playing personal assistant to her kids, catching up on tv shows with her husband, or reading saucy books. Liss Montoya lives in Maryland, United States, with her husband, their two kids, and their dog Luna.
One of my favorite things in this book, is how Miles is not threatened by his “boss”, her success and her money! He falls hard and fast for her, and is the best support for her when she lets him. The found family in Azalea Creek is amazing, and I wish it was a real place, because I love traveling there. The Spanish culture representation is so on point! Love the emotions and chemistry mix with this couple! This is the perfect summer read with a side of banter you didn’t know you need it.
I definitely enjoyed revisiting the characters from Azalea creek. Miles and Penny work well together. My biggest issue with the book is cover showing her pregnant and the blurb saying surprise pregnancy, when that isn’t a plot point until later in the book. I’m also surprised Merlin’s book is next instead of River.
Tempting Miles is a sweet read! Full of spice, this romance picked up steam quick, and didn’t let up! What starts as a one time fling becomes more, and boy are Penny and Miles cute! Miles comes from a huge family, his family dynamics add a lot of levity, and I love when there is a full cast of characters, and these are so well written.
Not only is there romance, and family, but there is some intrigue as well, Penny’s plot was really interesting, and added some fun color to the story. The conclusion is satisfying, I got everything I was wanting. Thank you to the author for providing an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
This is a small town , workplace romance with a blue collar MMC , millionaire FMC , surprise pregnancy and a runaway bride. Now of course we have some spice in this book and let me just tell you it kicks off in chapter one!🤭 Miles is someone that doesn’t do relationships but from the moment he met Penny he was falling hard for her. Penny is such a strong and independent FMC. Shes used to taking care of business by herself and one major thing I loved about this book is that she is 35! 😍 I absolutely loved reading about an FMC that is closer in age and even though she is used to doing things on her own I loved how Miles was there helping her out instead so she didn’t have to worry about a thing.🥹 The dynamic between both characters worked out so well.
Now one thing I do want to say is that the surprise pregnancy trope and runaway bride did play a part alittle further in the storyline . I originally thought it was going to happen earlier in the book but overall I enjoyed this read💜.
I really liked this. This is a romance with spice, some tense moments, and overall just a fun time. It was easy for me to become invested in the main characters, and I remembered some of the side characters from other books by this author so that was a plus. This is part of an interconnected series/world. Definitely recommend checking it out!

Miles & Penny are finally here, and although their story was different from what I expected, I really enjoyed reading about them because Liss Montoya gave me an unexpected love that you can feel in every character in this book, not just the main couple. I also loved that she gave me characters to hate, unexpected plot twists, and glimpses of the Azalea Creek characters I love.
Penny is a very authentic character that I really enjoyed getting to know. First of all, I love that she's the billionaire, the project leader, an independent woman who is still vulnerable and has a charming personality. I also love that Liss shows me a bit more of her (Colombian) culture through this character, through her conversations with Xander and Gio, and that she gives me this important woman who is proud of that part of her heritage. Another thing I absolutely loved was her potential marriage to Easton and how this part of the story unfolds throughout the book, making me suspicious of this character, hating him, and enjoying the ending of this part of the book even more.
Miles stole my heart from the very first moment: I loved his personality, the way his monologues show how interested and in love he is with Penny from the beginning, how he fights his feelings, and how he has always lived his life avoiding deep connections to avoid suffering losses, and how his actions always demonstrate his big heart. I also loved that Liss gave me moments between Miles and River, showing me how important the older MacAlister is to our mmc, the complexity of his feelings toward all the responsibilities his brother carries, and how River is always there for him.
I really liked how Liss Montoya started Penny and Miles's story (although I would have liked to see more of that first encounter) because it shows the strong chemistry and connection this couple has. Furthermore, I loved reading about their dynamic at work, the way Miles calls Penny "boss," how he always tries to support her, take care of her, and be there for her whenever she needs him. But what I loved most was reading about the security Penelope feels with him because he sees her for who she truly is. This couple gave me beautiful, heartwarming moments; however, I felt that towards the end of the book things moved too quickly, and the part of their storyline I was most looking forward to got caught up in that rush.
Tempting Miles completely stole my heart. I went into this expecting a fun small-town romance and ended up completely obsessed with Miles and Penny. Their chemistry was instant, their banter was fantastic, and their emotional journey had me invested from beginning to end.
Miles was everything I love in a romance hero. After watching the devastating impact heartbreak had on his mother, he convinced himself that relationships simply weren't worth the risk. But from the moment Penny entered his life, every wall he built around his heart started to crack. Watching him fall completely and unapologetically in love was one of my favorite parts of the book. He was patient, supportive, protective, and absolutely determined when it came to Penny.
Penny was just as wonderful. I loved that she was a successful, independent thirty-five-year-old heroine who had built an incredible life for herself. She's strong, intelligent, and used to handling everything on her own, which made it so rewarding to watch her slowly allow someone else to help carry the weight. Even when she struggled, her fears and hesitations felt realistic and understandable.
The banter between these two was top-tier. Every conversation was filled with tension, humor, and chemistry. I loved how naturally their connection evolved from a one-night stand into something neither of them could walk away from. Whether they were working together, teasing each other, or quietly showing up for one another, every interaction felt genuine.
One thing I especially appreciated was how much heart this story had. While the surprise pregnancy and runaway bride tropes arrive later than I expected, they fit naturally into the story and created some incredibly emotional moments. The book also tackles difficult situations with care and realism, adding depth to an already compelling romance.
The small-town atmosphere was charming, and I loved the family dynamics throughout the story. The twin sisters were always entertaining whenever they appeared, and the community added warmth and personality to every chapter.
Liss Montoya delivered the perfect blend of humor, heart, angst, and romance. Tempting Miles is filled with swoony moments, emotional depth, incredible chemistry, and a hero who falls hard. If you love workplace romance, surprise pregnancy, strong heroines, and heroes who would do absolutely anything for the woman they love, this book belongs on your TBR.
I loved every single page and never wanted it to end!
I am so grateful to Liss Montoya for this ARC for which I am leaving an honest review.
I have been waiting for book 2 in the Azalea Creek series and I am so happy it’s finally here. Liss Montoya has written another amazing story that I couldn’t put down. Tempting Miles provides humor, romance, and a bit of drama; all balanced perfectly. Our MCs are 100% independent and content in their life. Both know they don’t need anyone to fill a gap in their lives, but learn that needing and wanting are two different things. As they grow closer and closer, Liss provides readers with a heartwarming story of two people learning to let others in and that wanting to do life with someone doesn’t take away from the life you’ve built for yourself.
Miles is the MMC who avoids commitment due to past pain he’s gone through. As a hopeless romantic, I love this trope. My heart swells when this type of MMC finds the FMC who breaks down every wall and shows him that commitment isn’t scary when it’s with the right person. When he meets our FMC, this is exactly what happens. While I completely understand why he closes himself off to anything serious, I loved watching him open up and allow someone in. As their fling turns into something more, Miles proves over and over again he is someone that can be counted on and doesn’t run when things get hard.
Penny is strong, independent, and also someone who isn’t looking for anything beyond a one night stand and fun. When she meets Miles, the chemistry is undeniable, and as the night progresses, so does their desire for one another. Yet this time, Penny’s fun night has turned into more than she is ready to deal with. As she learns to let someone help her and that she doesn’t have to do everything on her own, someone from the past arrives; threatening to ruin everything she and Miles have built.
As we learn more and more about our MCs, the story goes from lighthearted romance to an emotional book with complex layers. I have always loved how Liss writes her MMCs. They are loyal to their women, but know when to step back and let the women lead. By doing this her FMCs are given the chance to fully sort through their feelings and realize how much the MMC brings to their lives. Liss is an author that breaks barriers within her writing, while both highlighting the beauty of her culture and going against stereotypes found within this same culture. An author well worth reading!
As always, review any author notes before reading.
What to Expect: 💜Small Town Romance 🚧Workplace Romance 💜Surprise Pregnancy 🚧Runaway Bride FMC 💜Blue Collar FMC 🚧Millionaire Romance 💜Forced Proximity
I went into this expecting a sweet small-town romance and came out with a book hangover. Miles and Penny had me absolutely obsessed from start to finish. Their chemistry was instant, but what I loved most was how their connection grew beyond attraction into something so much deeper.
Miles was EVERYTHING. This man spent years avoiding commitment because of the pain he’d witnessed growing up, yet the second Penny entered his life, you could feel every wall he built starting to crack. Watching him fall completely and unapologetically in love was one of my favorite parts of the book. He was patient, determined, and so incredibly swoony. The way he refused to give up on Penny had me melting.
And Penny? I adored her. She’s successful, intelligent, independent, and fiercely protective of her heart. Her fears felt real and relatable, which made her journey even more emotional. I wanted to shake her a few times, hug her a few times, and cheer for her the entire way through.
The banter between these two was top tier. Every conversation sparkled with tension, humor, and that undeniable attraction that kept me turning pages way too late into the night. Their one-night stand turning into something neither of them could walk away from was executed perfectly.
Then came the emotional punches. Just when I thought I knew where the story was headed, the twists and revelations had me stressed, emotional, and completely invested. The engagement bombshell? My jaw was on the floor. And don’t even get me started on the pregnancy reveal. My emotions were all over the place in the best possible way.
Liss Montoya delivered the perfect blend of heart, heat, humor, and small-town charm. The romance felt genuine, the characters felt real, and the emotional payoff was absolutely worth every second of angst.
If you love commitment-phobic heroes who fall hard, strong heroines, small-town romance, emotional depth, incredible chemistry, and a love story that fights for its happily ever after, Tempting Miles needs to be on your TBR immediately.
I loved every single page and never wanted it to end.
Sweet, steamy small-town romance that delivers exactly what you'd expect.
Miles has long been known as the blue-collar playboy of the family, and his newest construction project - building the town's ice rink - gives him a fresh purpose. Determined to avoid love and the vulnerability that comes with it, he doesn't expect to become distracted by his finance and project manager, Penny. Penny, a Colombian millionaire and friend of Miles' sisters, is focused, capable, and all business - until she gives in to her attraction and tempts Miles into a one-night stand.
Of course, one night quickly turns into something more. The chemistry between Miles and Penny is strong, and their relationship is filled with banter, forced proximity, and plenty of sexual tension. The open-door scenes bring spice, though some of the nickname usage felt more cringy than endearing.
The strongest part of the story was actually the secondary plotline. Penny reconnects with an old friend who presents her with an unexpected marriage proposition, introducing secrets, deception, family obligations, and a more antagonistic element that adds some needed conflict beyond the romance. It provided a nice change of pace and kept me invested when the main relationship followed a familiar path.
Unfortunately, the romance itself is incredibly predictable. The failed one-night stand, growing feelings, third-act breakup, and surprise pregnancy all unfold exactly as expected. While there's comfort in that familiarity, there weren't many surprises along the way.
What elevated the story for me were the emotional scenes surrounding pregnancy and childbirth. The portrayal of NICU babies, the fear and uncertainty parents experience, and the realistic discussion of how motherhood changes a woman's body felt raw, authentic, and emotionally powerful. Those moments carried a depth that the romance itself sometimes lacked.
Overall, Tempting Miles is an enjoyable but formulaic romance with likable characters, spice, and some genuinely moving emotional moments. Fans of small-town romances and recurring-series characters will likely enjoy it, even if the overall plot doesn't break new ground.
If you are looking for a workplace romance with a runaway bride and surprise pregnancy, then this is the book for you; I know it sounds like an odd mix of tropes, but trust me on this, you will love it. Tempting Miles is book 2 in the Azalea Creek series by Liss Montoya; this is an interconnected standalone, and you don't need to read the books in order. Firstly, I would like to thank Liss Montoya for giving me this ARC. Importantly, this book may contain triggering content, so please check the trigger warnings before reading.
These tropes might make you think How can this all play out, and it is an odd mix, trust me on this, the book won't disappoint. The storyline was done so well, it had me hooked, and I am so glad I was off work when I started reading this because I don't think I could put this book down. The plot was mainly a character driven story with some plot to it. I do have to say I loved the twin sisters when they were together in any scene, I knew that they were planning something. I do have to say this book dealt with some very scary moments very well. I loved how it showed the struggle when dealing with things that are out of your control. I felt I gave a more real side to these characters and their story, as things sometimes might not go the way you plan and how it affects people.
Penny and Miles' relationship was done so well, you could see from the start how much they were into each other, but hid their feelings. The banter at the start was so good, especially loved how Miles would call 'Boss' even when they were not working. There were so many times when they would do or say things for each other, such as getting coffee for each other. These two are the perfect example of how a relationship should be; they would support each other even in tough times. There were so many things I loved about these two, and I overall love the book and hope you pick it up on release day.
ARC Review 🗺️ Tempting Miles 💜 Book 2 in the Azalea Creek Series Written By: @lissmontoyawrites
⭐ Overall: 4/5 📖 Plot: 4/5 👥 Character Development: 4/5 ⏩ Pace: 4.5/5 🌎 World Building: 4/5 🌶️ Spice: 2/5
First—thank you @lissmontoyawrites and @happilybookedpr for the ARC ahead of its release date! 🗺️💜
Not having read Unraveling Rain (Book 1), I wasn't lost at all. The family and friend dynamics were introduced naturally throughout the story, making it easy to jump right into the world of Azalea Creek.
The banter between Penny and Miles was one of my favorite parts of this book. Their verbal sparring was sharp, playful, and full of chemistry. What begins as a no-strings-attached fling slowly evolves into something much deeper as they're forced to spend more time together working on the town's ice rink. Watching them peel back each other's layers and discover the people beneath the surface was both sweet and satisfying.
I especially loved that the millionaire role belonged to the FMC. Penny is successful, intelligent, and completely self-made, and it was refreshing to see a hero like Miles who wasn't intimidated by her success. Instead, he admired her ambition and supported her without letting money define their relationship.
Miles' close-knit family served as the perfect contrast to Penny's experiences, and those differences added depth to both characters. Their feelings for each other were obvious long before either of them was willing to admit it, which made all of their stubbornness equal parts frustrating and adorable.
The surprise pregnancy storyline felt surprisingly natural within the progression of their relationship and helped solidify what had been growing between them all along.
Overall, this was a sweet, fast-paced read filled with great banter, lovable characters, small-town charm, and just enough spice to keep things interesting. If you enjoy strong FMCs, reformed playboy MMCs, and romances where the emotional connection grows alongside the attraction, you'll want to add this one to your TBR.

Can I just say that this book was a wild ride. I honestly did not know what was coming next, it kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time! 1000000% would recommend this book if you want a sweet, workplace romance with a heap load of drama and a bucket full of spice 🔥 when it's obvious to everyone but the main characters that they should just get together already 👀
Trigger Warnings: Please check before diving into this book if any of the trigger warnings aren't for you. Also this book contains explicit on page spice so if that's not your thing, this book probably isn't for you. If spice is your thing, get comfortable because it is HOT 🔥🔥
Miles is such a sweetheart, he's a hard working man whose good with his hands, in more ways than one 😏 and is such a green flag MMC 🫶 Penny is an independent, business woman who despite having a successful career and the money that comes with it, never thought she was missing out on one thing, the love of a man who treats her like she is his world. This couple are so cute, the banter between them is hilarious and they made me feel pretty much every emotion on the spectrum, suffering through some hardships before earning that well deserved HEA.
Honerable mention for the families! Oh my god I just love a big family that rallies around eachother and is always in each others business 👀 Mami and Granny made me crack up loads! But absolutely love that two families came together and just the outpouring of love and support they showed for the MCs was beautiful ❤️
More often than not life put us through painful situations that make us feel helpless, life experiences that shape us and let us replete of fear of losing someone we loved, those moments change the way we feel live our life, we start living in a state of constant grief and we stop letting people in.
For some people the pain is so inimaginable that they rather keep pushing people out that entertain the idea of start loving them just to lose them in the future, that’s the way Miles used to live until he met someone that make him realized that life is meant to be live and that we can’t take any day for granted.
Watching Penny and Miles fall in love every day was one of my favorite things of this book, what started as casual slowly became two people realizing that they had feelings for each other enough for them to start building a life together, to realize that they rather spent the rest of their life loving each other instead of worrying and wasting time with the fear of losing each other.
Sometimes we have to take a leap of faith and trust the person we are falling for and have the certainty that they are going to love us unconditionally the same way you are loving them.
I loved how close Miles and Penny were with their families, so much that Penny was willing to sacrifice her own happiness for her father.
Love is hope, love is to go through the worst moments in life together, is support, is choose each other every day, is create memories together, love is trust and faith.

Small Town Millionaire FMC Blue Collar MMC Surprise Pregnancy Runaway Bride
First, I want to thank Liss for trusting me with an advanced copy of this story.
Let's start with the story itself. This is the second book in the Azalea Creek series, so be sure to read the first one before diving into this one!
Penny is an amazing woman—a millionaire financial advisor who is intelligent, devoted to her family, passionate about her career, and incredibly strong-minded. Miles is hardworking, dedicated to his family, and knows exactly what he wants.
Penny, who is older than Miles, ends up working with him on a construction project to build an ice rink for one of his family members. Throughout the project, the two experience undeniable tension, both reluctant to admit their attraction while remaining focused on completing the job to the highest standards.
As construction progresses, their relationship evolves from a one-night stand to being forced to live together, then to navigating a surprise pregnancy, and ultimately falling in love. Watching their journey unfold had me laughing out loud and completely unable to put the book down—I finished it in a single 2.5-hour sitting! It also delivered some truly heart-wrenching emotions, especially surrounding the birth of their child and the postpartum experiences that followed.
I highly recommend this book. It offers a unique take on the runaway bride trope while delivering comedy, romance, banter, and raw emotion. Penny and Miles's story also brought me back to my own emotions after the birth of my daughter. While Penny's experiences were different from mine, the feelings she went through felt incredibly relatable. I appreciated seeing those emotions represented on the page and being reminded that others have experienced similar struggles and feelings.
This was a heartfelt, emotional, and captivating read that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Tempting Miles is the second book in the Azalea Creek series and can be read as a standalone. This is Miles’ story with Penny who works for his brother-in law Gio.
𝑪𝒉𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝑵𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒔: Miles MacAllister & Penny Levine 𝑺𝒆𝒕𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈: Azalea Creek
Miles and Penny both have the mindset of not wanting anything serious. Miles what happens when you lose the love of your life and he never wants to go through that. Miles and Penny hook up at Rain’s wedding. Then they have to return to working together on building a hockey rink. Penny is his boss and things are a little awkward between them. But one snowy night forces them together and things begin to heat up.
The spiiice between them is HOTTT. These two have so much chemistry between them. While their attraction may have been instant between them, their relationship really grew throughout the story. What I enjoyed the most, was that you could really see the change in Miles and how serious his feelings became. Penny was such a strong baddie! Very independent and not afraid to say what she wants. Unfortunately for her, a friend comes to town and tries to mess things up for her. Will they be able to overcome the obstacle in their way? Will they keep denying their feelings are real?
As always, Liss delivers this story with so many heart warming moments, insanely hot spice, cultural moments and food, and characters that will absolutely feel like they become family.
Thank you, Liss Montoya, for the ARC (available June 12).
This was a fast paced, spicy, and heartwarming read!
Penny and Miles are family friends who are working together to build an ice rink in the small town of Azalea Creek, NC. After agreeing to a one night stand, they find themselves unable to resist the pull the feel toward one another, despite wanting no strings attached.
Penny and Miles are both hardworking people. They also feel strong connections to their families and friends and would do anything for the ones they love. I loved that Penny is Miles’ boss because it’s a dynamic that I don’t often come across in books. Despite her holding most of the power, Miles definitely holds his own in many ways, so they balanced each other really well!
The side characters were great, especially with how they were basically one big family. Their loyalty to each other is so heartwarming 🥹 I’m definitely going to have to go back and read the first book so I can find out what happens in Rain and Xander’s story!!
I loved that we got some Colombian characters in this as well! I enjoy reading about different cultures and characters who are different from myself!
There is a big emphasis on pregnancy and babies in this book. I’ve shared my personal struggles with loss, so at times it was a bit hard for me to read, especially at the end, but I still enjoyed it! It had plenty of humor and fun, loving moments to focus on!
Who would have thought that the “class clown” brother Miles would actually find his person? Miles and Penny have been around each other for a while now, but she was Gio’s personal assistant, and he was Ruin’s brother. But at Rain and Xander’s wedding, and a little “one night” fling, the two realize that they actually have way more chemistry than they were willing to admit. Miles had two super cheesy, and super cute nicknames for her (I’m a sucker for nicknames) and even when she was no longer his boss, those nicknames never went away, and I loved it. Like a little nod to who they were when their little nothing serious, for funsies only, love affair started. When she had to hide something from him, and he ultimately found out, he came in ready to swing to save her (and I full heartedly believe he would have if given the chance). For two people who were hell bent on nothing serious, no kids, no marriage, none of it, they sure did a great job changing each others minds. And boy oh boy, did Millie’s welcome into the world break my heart for the two of them. The stress that they went through in the hopes that everything would be okay being a NICU baby, putting everything in hands of the medical staff. Getting their story later than was planned I think allowed for them to really sit in their story and really tell Liss who they are and how they want their story told, and I think she did great with it. And good lort, no one can say Miles doesn’t love his woman iykyk lol!
Liss Montoya has done it again! Miles and Penny's story was such a special one and definitely not what I was expecting (in the best way possible). Through the glimpses we've seen of Miles, it's easy to stereotype him as a reckless, playboy who doesn't take anything seriously; what I was not expecting to see in this book was a great depth to his character (which I should've expected because this is an MMC written by Liss Montoya that we're talking about). Miles was so much more; he was extremely observant and devoted and loving despite his and Penny's refusal to call what was going on between them actual feelings. His bond with Penny was so refreshing in that they were complete equals and had a beautiful push and pull dynamic. When he would catch her off guard with one of his charming one-liners, she would give it right back, and I really liked that about them. They were such a power couple! Also, it's always amazing to see both of the twins and their respective partners! They have such a gentle, fun, loving bond, and it makes me want to reread Unraveling Rain and Lodged ASAP. The friendships in this book (and in the Azalea Creek universe as a whole) are so special to me; I love their group chats and how close-knit they all are with each other. Overall, I had such a great time reading this book, I ended up flying through it because I couldn't put it down! Thank you to Liss for providing me with an arc copy of this book and for allowing me to be a part of her content team!! :)
I was soooo happy to be back in Azalea Creek with these characters. It felt like being reunited with old friends and Liss didn’t fail to give us a deliciously, romantic story.
This had a lot more difficult topics in it than I expected and I really appreciated how it was handled by the author. Writing about birth trauma, premature delivery and just the overarching not being immediately over the moon happy about being pregnant are things that are real and raw and it was handled in a way that felt relatable and tasteful.
I really enjoyed Miles & Penny as characters. They both wanted, or didn’t want, the same things in life, but quickly realized they just didn’t want it with the people they were with. These two were HAWT for each other and boy was it enjoyable to read.
My only criticism would be that.. I don’t mind a surprise pregnancy trope. I appreciate it to an extent because it’s real and happens. I just wish it would have happened earlier in the book. I wanted more of their time with their daughter and wished we got to see more pregnancy and new baby stage rather than it all being squished into the end.
Overall, i really enjoyed this and would def recommend. The vibes: -Forced Proximity -Age Gap -Small Town Romance -Surprise Pregnancy -Millionaire FMC -Workplace Romance -Runaway Bride
Buckle up, we have a cute workplace / small town romance!!
We are back at Azalea Creeks and this time Miles is driving the show!! Tempting Miles is a story full of cute, sweet moments but featuring a lot of spice between Penny and Miles. Penny is a close family friend, a millionaire who knows how to invest. She is working closely with Miles as they work on a construction project together. They give into their chemistry for ONE NIGHT, only to find out that it was never going to be enough. Between stole glances and unavoidable chemistry, these two start a friends with benefits relationship while they complete their project.
Penny also has a secret she is hiding from Miles, she is about to be married! I loved everything that happens once Miles discovers this! These two had the perfect amount of banter, tension, humor and spice. They were working together and helping each other grow, a true partnership was built!
Overall, I completely loved all the family dynamics and both of the characters’ story lines. Miles showed Penny that even if she is fully capable of doing everything herself, she doesn’t have to! Their relationship made so much sense and they were perfect for each other!
If you are after a cute but spicy read, I recommend this book as your next read!

Firstly, thank you so much for allowing me to ARC read this in exchange for my honest opinion. I’m always grateful for the opportunity to discover new books and authors, and I’m so glad I got the chance to read this one!
Secondly, I absolutely loved this story. It was such a fun, heartwarming read that kept me smiling from beginning to end. While the age gap wasn’t as large as some of the age-gap romances I typically read, it still worked incredibly well for the story and added just the right amount of tension and charm to their relationship.
Miles and Penny were absolutely fantastic together. From the moment they were on the page together, their chemistry was undeniable. I loved how naturally they fit together and how their personalities complemented each other so well. Their relationship felt genuine, and it was easy to root for them every step of the way.
One of my favorite parts was their banter. The back-and-forth between them was so entertaining and felt effortless. Whether they were teasing each other, flirting, or just having a conversation, their interactions kept me engaged and often had me smiling. The dialogue felt natural and helped build a relationship that was both believable and incredibly enjoyable to read.
I also really loved the families in this book. They added so much personality, humor, and warmth to the story. Family dynamics can make or break a romance for me, and in this case, they absolutely enhanced it. The interactions were amusing, heartfelt, and helped create such a cozy, welcoming atmosphere throughout the book. It made the world feel lived-in and gave the story an extra layer of charm.
The overall vibe of this book was just wonderful. It had romance, humor, great chemistry, lovable characters, and those feel-good moments that make you not want to put the book down.
This was my first book by this author, and I can confidently say it won’t be my last. I’ve officially found another author to add to my favorites list, and I can’t wait to dive into more of their books. If they’re anything like this one, I know I’m going to love every minute of them. 💕📚✨
Heartwarming Small-Town Romance with Family, Growth, and Love
Tempting Miles is such a lovely story! It has so many fun tropes: small-town romance, workplace romance, a blue-collar MMC, a millionaire FMC, an age-gap romance (she’s older), and a surprise pregnancy.
Penny and Miles are two people who do not believe in relationships, marriage, or having children. Despite that, they keep finding their way back to each other and secretly hooking up. It takes a major life event for both of them to finally confront what they truly mean to each other.
One of my favorite things about this book was Miles’ relationship with his family. It was beautifully written and showed just how much they love him and always have his back. Their support added so much warmth to the story.
Penny’s family is the true definition of “there is love at home.” Her parents love and support her unconditionally, and all they want is for her to be happy. I loved seeing that throughout the book.
This is a 4-star read, and I definitely recommend it.
Thank you to the author and Happily Booked PR for the ARC.
The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
Penny & Miles. She's the woman in charge and isn't interested in the whole forever thing. He's the contractor of close friends who she is overseeing at their latest project. He's is also uninterested in forever. But life catches up to us all and it caught up to them too. The journey was fun, stressful, and satisfying.
This book is everything I wanted in the second book of Azalea Creek (they are interconnected but can be read as standalones). We get to see all our favorite characters from the first book with updates, and we get to know Penny & Miles as they get to know each other VERY well. The town of Azalea Creek is full of all the family and nosy neighbors you expect in a small town romance and we also get Penny's parents and her "best friend," Easton. I'll let you interpret those quotation marks for yourself.
Penny and Miles are the perfect example of push and pull. It works so well for them and for the story. I love Liss Montoya's characters and her stories. Green flag strong MCs, strong, independent and lovable FMCs (well the MCs are lovable too) are the hallmarks of Liss' books. But don't let the sweetness fool you - they are spicy as well!
What to expect: *workplace romance *surprise pregnancy *runaway bride *small town romance *found family
*I received a complimentary eARC and my review is voluntary. Thank you to the author and Happily Booked PR.
Thank you Liss Montoya and Happily Booked PR for this ARC of Tempting Miles‼️This book didn’t tempt me, it HAD me‼️
This was my second book by Liss and I’m just in awe and a fan for life! Girl you write such beautiful, swoony, spectacular, wonderful stories that just hook you and reel you in! (For me all in one go 😝)
Miles and Penny were such and epic love story 🥹The way these two never wanted to find love or be in love and end up falling head over heals was special 💜 That moment when they confess it all to each other after Mile’s whisks Penny away from her (forced) wedding day (one that she was tricked into), it was game over and they were done pretending they were just “hooking up” that they had both fell, and fell HARD‼️
It was so fun not only vibing with the banter with Miles and Penny, but we got MORE of the MacAllister clan 🫶
I can’t wait to get my grabby hands on more of this family with River and Merlin ❤️
Tropes: 🦺Small Town 💵Workplace Romance 🦺Blue Collar MMC 💵Millionaire FMC 🦺Age Gap (She’s Older) 💵Surprise Pregnancy 🦺Runaway Bride
Tempting Miles had all the ingredients I usually love in a boss x employee romance. There’s sharp banter, explosive chemistry, and that delicious “we really shouldn’t, but we absolutely will” energy. Miles and Penny start with a no‑strings ONS, but the tension between them is basically its own character. Their banter is pure foreplay, and every scene crackles with that enemies‑ish push‑pull.
But even with all that heat, this wasn’t my favorite Liss Montoya book. I struggled to fully connect with Penny, especially with the forced marriage/blackmail subplot hanging over her choices. And while Miles says he wants no strings, it’s obvious he’s already gone for her, which made some of his early behavior feel a little mismatched with what he was actually feeling.
The pregnancy twist adds this emotional weight that you are craving by the end, and the romance definitely delivers on spice and tension. Overall, it’s fun, fast, and steamy, but a but too predictable to what I’ve loved in Montoya’s other books.
Tempting Miles is book 2 in the Azalea Creek series, but can be read as a standalone without feeling lost.
I really enjoyed getting back to the quiet town of Azalea Creek, with all the charm of a small town, and all the heat of a sweet romance. The contrast between the blue collar MMC and CEO FMC was funny to read, and it gave a nice twist to the story.
While the romance was a bit predictable but still enjoyable, I found myself drawn to the subplot, family drama, the secrets, the conflict of a secondary suitor. It gave the plot a couple of twists that kept things interesting. Also, the surprise pregnancy and all that came with it elevated the story on the emotional side, deepening the romance to something more realistic.
For a surprise pregnancy book, I expected that part of the story to come out earlier, but still, this was a nice read, full of feel good moments, and perfect for those readers looking for a romance that was never in doubt, but a story that still presents some unexpected twists.
This one was incredibly sweet! We get a total badass FMC who happens to be a millionaire and the boss, paired with an MMC who isn't intimidated by her success in the slightest. Instead, he absolutely adores her and supports her every step of the way.
Their banter made this story so easy to fall into. Every conversation felt natural, and their chemistry flowed effortlessly off the page. It helped build a strong emotional connection between them, and I found myself fully invested in their journey from beginning to end.
The spice starts early in this one, so it's no surprise that a surprise pregnancy enters the picture. If that's not your favorite trope, don't worry. It doesn't take center stage right away, which allows the romance to develop naturally before that beautiful surprise changes their lives.
If you enjoy small-town romances, workplace dynamics, a reverse age gap, found family, and Spanish cultural representation, then let Miles tempt you into picking up this book!
Loved Miles & Penny! The chemistry from the beginning was 🔥. Miles and Penny had a one night stand and eventually end up working together on a project. I love how Miles calls her Boss & isn't intimidated by a successful woman!! Miles is just there to worship her & make sure Penny is well taken care of.. a man after my own heart! Penny, I love her confidence. I love how she opened up and created friendship with the Azalea Creek girlies. Love when the spanish culture gets mixed in there as always! This series is a very cute read and Liss always creates the most swoony MMCs!
Fav quotes:
Penny: Day by day, little by little, Miles became my favorite thing. Every single thing he did for me was beyond anyone has ever done before
Miles: “I only have eyes for you, Penny Levine.” The truth comes out rough. “My life’s been fc&$ng hell since you left.” I shake my head slightly. “I don’t even know when this changed. All I know is you somehow buried yourself so deep in my heart, I can’t imagine my life without you anymore.”
First off I would like to thank Liss for the opportunity to read and review this book.
Penny & Miles Y'all this book was honestly so cute. I absolutely adore Penny & Miles so much. I love how independent, strong and the & go-getter attitude Penny has. I love that she knows what she wants and goes after it & how confident she is with herself. I love how funny, hard working and determined Miles is, I love that he knew what he wanted his life to be like and embrace it, but also wasn't afraid of the changes it took. I love how he fell first & hard for Penny. He was down bad for her and I love a man obsessed with his woman.
5/5 Recommend this book. Y'all this was such a beautiful story about two people who finally stop dancing around each other and just went for it, just to end up in love and happy 🫶🏼. While at the end it does touch on some sensitive topic revolving around birth, it was handled with the care it deserved.
