Yep...that just happened. WTF?!? So good...review to come!
**ARC provided by the author in exchange for my honest review.**
“No matter how mad I was at him, or how betrayed I felt, I still loved him. He had changed my whole world this past year. He made me feel alive again. Whole. Complete. He made me feel love again when I thought it’d be gone forever.”
It’s amazing how much life can change in a year. Molly has finished school, gotten her dream job (and no, not because she’s sleeping with the boss) working at Riverside and has managed to fly under the radar in her love affair with Drake. Things with them are as hot as ever and after getting through the challenges in their first year, Drake is ready to take the next step…one step closer to having Molly and Stella in his life forever.
What Molly doesn’t know though, just might ruin them. Drake has a secret; a little bombshell of his own that he has kept hidden for way too long…
If that isn’t bad enough, new threats keep popping up in Molly and Drake’s life together. Someone is after Molly and when clues point to her past; Drake uses his every resource to keep her safe…but sometimes money isn’t enough.
“I hate the fact that your past is colliding with our future. You don’t deserve this, Molly. You are too good to deserve any of this.”
Mmmmmmmmmm…..that’s all I can say about this book. It was lick the spoon and then the bowl good! Kitchen Scandals lives up to its name, and it was amazing. I don’t even think I tasted it because I was so hungry for what happens next and it was over way too soon! (Just like the best meals are). I don’t want to give too much away because I want everyone to savor this, and all the twisted details. I read the entire thing in one sitting and cannot wait for the last book…get your booty back in the kitchen, Brooke! I can’t wait for dessert!
Kitchen Affairs was good. Kitchen Scandals is soooo much better! :-) I seriously did not put this down today. I was shocked throughout the book. This is one of those reads that keeps you on the edge of your seat - what the hell is going to happen next?!?! LOL Love it! I want to sit here and tell you all the things I was shocked about especially the MAJOR one - but it would totally ruin it. Seriously this book is great, and I cannot wait for the final book in the trilogy.
Received an ARC from the author for an honest review. And here it is....... Well I am happy to say that the story just keeps getting better.... I really did enjoy this installment and I can NOT wait to get the last book. I am so excited to see what is in store next for Molly and Drake. I could barely contain myself as I read the book (I just wanted to skip ahead to see if my guesses were correct) Some were and some were not. I will not spoil the book since I feel EVERYONE who has read the first should give this one a try. I am very impressed with the improvements that were made for this book. The Author yet again surprised me and got me to become attached to the next stage in their life. I just couldn't put the book down. I felt like I had to find out what was going to happen and I had to find out right this minute. I thoroughly enjoyed the suspense that was sprinkled in this book. A perfect mix of romance, sex, and suspense with just the right amount to keep you begging for the answers. Thank you so much for allowing me to read it and give you my honest thoughts. Over all again you blew me away with the characters.
2 Chicks and a Blog was provided an ARC copy by the author for an honest review.
Let me just say - BROOKE CUMBERLAND KILLED IT AGAIN!!!
Kitchen Scandals is the 2nd book in the Riverside Novels, followed by Kitchen Affairs.
These 2 chicks totally LOVED this book! It had everything needed to kill it in our eyes. If we thought that Kitchen Affairs had the perfect balance of angst, romance, plot and character explanation, we had no clue!! Kitchen Scandals had all of that BUT SO MUCH MORE.
Drake is moving his way up my "Favorite Book Boyfriend" list. He is smooth, kind and FULL of sex appeal. Molly's character is explained so much more in this book and it rocked my socks. Stella is even more adorable and such a witty young lady. If I had a daughter, she would be just like Stella. And Michael, the best of the best friends of all time!!
A brief overview provided by 2 Chicks and a Blog:
Drake and Molly can only be happy in their relationship for so long before drama finds them. After only a year together, the highs and lows keep on coming. With Molly still dealing with the death of her daughters father, Liam, Drake has an unexpected surprise of his own. Can Molly live with this little surprise?
Someone has it in for our happy couple. Crazy messages, breaking and entering and blasts from the past kick it up a notch.
Can Drake and Molly get over all the hurdles in their relationship to make it work and get the happily ever after they both are secretly dreaming of?
This book will take you on a TOTAL mind trip. You think it's going to go 1 way and goes a total other. I never seen this coming. Impatiently waiting for the 3rd book in this series.
These 2 chicks proudly give this book 5 out of 5 stars and CANNOT WAIT!!
This baby needs to go on your must read list. Book comes out on July 1st! Check it out on Goodreads.
EXCERPT FROM KITCHEN SCANDALS:
"First, I would kiss and lick every surface of your body starting with those plush lips of yours. Then, I would move down your neck, up your ear, and down your shoulder. I would caress your arms with my hands while kissing down your chest, and wrap my tongue around each nipple. After your breasts were thoroughly mouth-fucked, I'd move down your torso and once I reached your belly button, I'd slip my hands down your pants and make your orgasm so hard, you'd forget your name." - Drake

5 Amazing-Fist-Bump Stars
I'm part of Brooke's street team and some other ladies and me read last night the book together -it was pure bliss!!! We all were sitting on the edge and betting on who is messing with our lovelies Molly and Drake. Because this is an ARC review I can't put any spoilers/quotes in it but I'll put some nice teaser photos on my blog review ;)
It was pure torture; Brooke was pulling off everything she could and therefore this book blew my mind. The beginning was a bit slow but I still enjoyed it because it contained lots of make-out sessions of Molly and Drake. In Kitchen Scandals you will find the main characters Molly, Drake, Michael and Stella-bug as well as Travis. Brooke introduced some new characters that will lead to hidden secrets -those very secrets try to tore Drake and Molly apart.But will they succeed? While reading, my mind constantly tried to figure out who is behind all this mess and nope, trust me you won't figure it out till your almost at the end- all I can say is that I was VERY shocked. Never did that see coming!!
This book is full, and I mean really FULL of surprises!! Some are heartwarming and others plain pain in the butt. I laughed, cried, and sweared that I even had to make myself a cup of coffee at 10pm! The book is filled with drama, suspense ( a lot of it), passion, and humore. As usual, Brooke's steamy scenes were pure joy to read and I fell even more in love with Drake - he's THE man!
The girls and I enjoyed the book tremdendously and I can't wait to read the third book. But I also advise to read Kitchen Affairs before because you defintively need the background knowledge to avoid confusion. I totally recommend this series and am excited to read more of Brooke Cumberland's books. It was amazeballs <--insider *snickers*
Have you read kitchen affairs? ,,,, no? Then you need to ,,,, yes? Then let me tell you if you loved kitchen affairs your gonna be doing somersaults over this little treasure :) ,,, holy hell this is one hell of a great book ,,,, man did I enjoy it :)
So this book is a continuation of kitchen affairs so I highly recommend that you read it before moving on to this one :)
Drake is a hot piece of ass ,,, Molly has not had it easy so far in life and trust me this book will give you so much more to think about when it comes to Molly ,,, she is one hell of a strong character ,,, determined to make the best of her life and give her all to her daughter ,,, it doesn't matter what life throws at her she WILL NOT be knocked down and show weakness she will remain strong ,,, even when she hurts so so bad
We find out a few things from both Drake and Molly's pasts in this book ,,,, as you work your way through the book it will kind of be like solving a puzzle ,,, picking each piece and slotting it in next to it's neighbouring pieces right until you have the whole thing put together ,,,
We have an ex,,, and some secrets ,,, a whole lot of drama and angst ,,, there are some parts which will make you think carefully about what's going on and you may even think you have worked it out ,,, but you may be surprised ;) I was certain I knew where this book was headed only to find it switch paths :) ,,, you will be kept turning the pages over and over till you get to the end ,,,,, and then your going to be so pleased to know that book three is out really soon :)
The characters in this series are great and although Drake is from a wealthy family you don't feel like money is being rammed down your throat
Oh my I need to get reading the next book ,,,,,,, FANTASTIC ,,, highly recommend
~~~~I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review~~~
Brooke Cumberland has done it again! Kitchen Scandals dives deeper into the relationship of Drake and Molly. One of the reasons WHY I love to read her books is because she just doesn't let the characters fall in love with each other. She makes the characters fight for what they want, She puts challenges in the way. Some of the challenges I can relate to, so I was drawn more into the story that ever before. One of the things that I could relate to is Stella. I too have a 5 year old daughter, and she is a very picky eater. She only eats noodle and butter, fruit, and when I ask her what she wants for breakfast, lunch or dinner she responds with Pancakes.
Brooke puts lots of love into this book. She tugs at our heartstrings, makes us cry, laugh--no seriously, I literally laughed out loud in a couple of parts in the book! She makes us think about the ones we love, the ones we lost, and the ones that loved and then lost. If you haven't started reading this series yet, you need too! You need to be drawn into the restaurant/the drama/and the love that pours out from this book! Brooke has a loyal reader right here! What she writes is gold!!
I was given a copy in exchange for my honest review.
OMG! I was blown away with the twists and turns of this book. I truly didn't see some of them coming. Drake's little secret was not a surprise to me. HELLO! Could he be any more of a schmuck? Good gracious. I am all for a few secrets, but this one was huge.
I didn't fault Molly for her childhood secret. There are some demons that don't need to see the light of day.
I am not going to spoil the main plot twist cause it blindsided me and I want all of you to get the same feel. I am stoked for the next book and can't see wait to see where Brooke takes us.
Stayed up way too late reading this but I couldn't help myself, yeah it was that good! My mind is doing a yo yo twirling motion, trying wrap it's thoughts around all that was packed into this book. I don't want to giveaway spoilers, this will be releasing soon! I will say that Drake is sizzling Hot! That man, yeah I wouldn't mind having him hanging around my kitchen. Can't wait to read the next book in this series!
Wow! If you're looking for a book that is filled with non-stop drama that will have you biting your nails and sitting at the edge of your seat, Kitchen Scandals is the book for you. I became emotionally invested in the characters from the Kitchen Affairs that all I wanted was for Drake and Molly to have their happy ever after. I was so engrossed in the story; I could not put the book down.
The sexual chemistry between Molly and Drake continue, with their relationship growing into more of an intense level. I think it’s really cute that Drake set an anniversary date for them and Molly didn’t even know about it. This is the first anniversary he’s ever had so he is making it a special one. I would definitely not mind having mind-blowing sex all night then having to wake up to a half- naked hottie making me breakfast. “Molly, you already have the key to my heart, but now I want you to have this key – the key that brings you home.” ~ Drake I’ve fallen more in love with Drake in this book. He is still the dominating, jealous, arrogant businessman we know, but his love for Molly is very clear. He is always putting her needs first and making sure she has the very best. Drake has treated Stella like she is his very own, earning him the title “Daddy Drake.” Drake also knows that Michael has always been a part of Molly and Stella’s life that Drake has welcomed him to live with them as well.
Molly is a chef at The Riverside, where Nikkos is taking her under his wing and also the restaurant Drake manages. Nikkos and Molly have great work chemistry together, it seems natural for them to be working side by side. Nikkos periodically says some sexual comments at Molly and touches her every now and then giving Molly a very weird vibe, but she brushes it off every time. Drake catches Nikkos with his hands on Molly and threatens him if he touches her again, but not even his threat stops him from continuing the inappropriate comments and gestures.
Shortly after Molly and the gang move in with Drake, mysterious notes appear in their house, including their bedroom. This totally freaks the both of them out since their penthouse is locked and secured. Whoever has done this has complete access and is very quick and quiet about putting the notes out. This happens several times, putting both Molly and Drake on edge. They have their suspicions, but their leads come up empty. Drake suddenly leaves town without telling Molly. She is worried that he is keeping something from her and that he is drifting away. Drake has kept a secret from Molly. He is terrified of losing her once his secret is out, which is why he has not told her about it until all the facts are straight. He has a son and he went out of town because he finally tracked down the mother. She has fled the country with their son because she didn’t want him being exposed to the media and the small fame Drake has. Will this secret ruin what Molly and Drake have? Will Drake be able to come clean about his long lost child or continue to keep him a secret?
When Molly finds out, she naturally feels hurt and betrayed that Drake would keep something so big from her, especially since he has known since the beginning of their relationship. It makes her question if he has been lying about anything else or possibly if their entire relationship is a lie. When Drake finally comes clean about everything, she stands by him as he gets to know his son. The unfortunate thing about this whole thing is Molly having to deal with Violet, his son’s mother. She is a slimey, jealous bit** who will do anything to get Drake back and breaking them up is one of her top priorities. She is trying to weasel her way back into Drake’s life and is using their son to get to him. Every time she came up in the book, I was thinking of not so nice things that could happen to her; she just needed to let them be. Drake was trying really hard to get to know his son, Liam (notice the irony in his name since that is the name of Molly’s fiancé and Stella’s dad who died), while being friendly with Violet so she doesn’t run off again. Will Molly be able to deal with whatever games Violet has to offer? Will Drake be able to resist temptation and stay true to Molly? With the notes still appearing and now Violet, how much more can Molly handle?
Drake is not the only one with secrets. Molly has secrets of her own that she has been keeping to herself since she was a child. It’s a secret she plans to never remember, but one that still haunts her. With everything going on, she must reveal her secret to Drake. She doesn’t want anyone to feel sorry for her, especially Drake. But after further investigating, the person responsible for the notes seem to point back to Denny, an old friend of her dad’s. Drake feels that the best way for Molly and Stella to be safe is if they stay low for a bit. But secluding them could be the biggest mistake he ever made. The person they least expect, the one that is supposed to be Molly’s friend, is one step ahead of them and is ready to make his move to end this game for good. He has always wanted Molly, but knew Drake was in the picture. He’s had a taste and wants her for good; he will do anything to make her his even if that includes getting rid of Drake.
Will Drake be able to get to Molly in time and save her from the crazy madman? Will Drake and Molly’s love for each other be enough to help them get through everything they are dealt? Will they finally get their happy ending?
My heart broke several times throughout the book, for all the characters. Molly has been through so much in her life and to have to deal with Drake’s secret, the notes and Nikkos all at once threatens to break her. I admire Molly for supporting Drake when it comes to his son. Although she hated Violet, she played nice so Drake could have his time with Liam. Drake is put in a very tough position; having to please Violet, without hurting Molly. Even with everything going on, Drake always tries to put Molly first. Stella is such a sweetheart and will be straightforward about everything. There are times when she has conflicted feelings about Drake, but yet still wanting to know more about her real father. Even though Liam passed away when Stella was a baby, Molly still makes a point to tell Stella all about him. Michael has been the one constant in Molly and Stella’s life and is the best friend everyone wants to have.
This book seriously is a rollercoaster of emotions. This story has more drama thrown at you than in the first book. It will definitely keep you on your toes and will not bore you at all. The story will capture you and stay with you till the very end, and will have you wanting more. It does leaving you hanging in the end a bit, making you wonder WTF is going to happen next! Great job Brooke, I can’t wait for the next one!
This is the second installment in the Riverside Trilogy. I was anticipating this release to find out how the story was going to go. However, I am having a hard time deciding how to rate this installment. For those who have read my previous review on the first book, you will note that I liked the story but felt somethings were lacking. So, I was excited to read the second book to see how the story came along. In the beginning we take a trip down memory lane,this time from Drake's POV. We relive the moment he saw her, the moment they first met. Basically, all the key moments from the beginning of the first book. Then the book jumps in to Drake and Molly,where we left off, only they are now living together in the pent house. They have moved things to the next level. Molly is starting her new position at the resturaunt and life is perfect. Or so they believe. Someone is leaving weird things around the pent house. Drake is keeping a secret that could mess up the good thing they have going. That secret has a plan of it's own. Some people aren't who we think they are. We see Molly and Drake struggle to keep their relationship together and strong. With all the ins and outs of life happening, big changes are in the works. We discover that there is more madness then we knew. Someone dangerous is after Molly and Drake puts his life on the line. Will Molly and Drake finally find their happy ending? Not quite or maybe lets just say the story isn't over and we have to wait for book three to have the final say in this story. Okay, Okay! So, I will admit I fell into the story about halfway through. I became captivated by the story and was taken away. It took me awhile until I got to that point though. In the beginning, the story felt rushed and choppy. It was as if trying to fill you in on everything but in fast forward, and then would slow down for some sexy time. I felt like the scenes that went into detail were only the sex scenes, and well, there were a few of those. Almost to many, I kind-of felt uncomfortable with it. However, once we got past that point in the book, things started getting better and the flow flowed. The characters came alive and the action became real time. And this is where I come to my indecisiveness on the rating of the book. In the beginning it was a 2 for me,(eek..I know)but as the book progressed the style changed and I felt it was a 4. I want to give it a solid 4 but with the beginning plaguing me, I'm going to go in the middle. 3 to 3.5 stars for the second installment. (See I still can't make-up my mind) This book and the previous one are right on the edge for me, I'm so torn with it. I encourage you all to read this one as I do with all the ones that leave me in the middle.
I was lucky enough to be sent an ARC to review for the author. I bought Kitchen Affairs (Book One) and read it straight through in one night. So of course I was just jumping at the opportunity to see where Drake and Molly's story was going to go. Of course I was NOT disappointed. Every twist and turn in the story line made me want to keep reading and by the time I knew it I was in a blissful book hangover and on the last page. Molly and Drake are intense, their chemistry leaves nothing and I mean nothing to be desired... I swear I thought my kindle would ignite at times. Drake has secrets, and he is terrified that it will cost him the one thing he needs... Molly. Molly has her own things in her past that she hasn't shared and when the past collides with their impending future it makes for some VERY tense moments. I was not surprised that the series just keeps getting better and better, but I will say that I won't give away any spoilers. The story line is just too GENIUS that if I were to give too much away I would have to kick my own butt! YOU ARE JUST GOING TO HAVE TO READ IT!
I will say that I was sitting in my chair holding my kindle and mouthing WTF over and over again several times in the book. I would try to guess where things were heading and then BAM! She would blow my mind again and again. It was totally MINDBLOWING, and captivating. You can't help but root for the characters and fall in love with them. Especially little Stella who is a Diva, a princess, and then ready to punch you in the throat if need be. One of the best child characters in a book that I have read so far. In the first book was just Molly's point of view so you were left feeling a little out of reach when it came to understanding Drake and his motives...along with his feelings. In this book however...you get a split view of not only Molly's POV but Drake's as well and the way they mesh together was great. You had several scenes overlapping at points so that you could really feel both sides and relate to the characters. As for my detailed thoughts on specifics on the story line all I can say is if you don't read it you are missing out. I was crazy in love with the story in the beginning but the more into it you get the more you are rooting them on and dying to know what is going to happen. I said this before Brooke Cumberland is a genius at the cliffhanger and suspense. I am itching to get my hands on the next book in the series, because when she wants you to fall out of your chair and be stunned into silence she does it!
Talk about a brilliantly woven web...Brooke outdid herself with the follow up to Kitchen Affairs!
Kitchen Scandals was hot, fun and completely caught me off guard. I love that Drake and Molly fight so hard for their love and the trust they have in one another is so beautiful. They were thrown their fair share of off the charts craziness in this book and I loved it! While the book continues where Affairs left off, it fast forwards quickly in the first few chapters. The main character dynamics are still strong and I absolutely love Michael (the gay best friend that everyone wants to have) and Stella (the completely adorable 5-year old princess daughter of Molly) as secondary characters they totally keep the story lighthearted and fresh. Who doesn't love eating cake batter and frosting off of large spoons while sitting on the kitchen counter...or Michael getting a princess makeover from Stella?!?
Several people don't want them together and the web starts to build. Nico the chef is enamored completely with Molly and isn't afraid to show it, which has Drake on high alert. People from both of their pasts show up and completely throw the story into a tailspin of chaos, suspense and heart palpitations...I even had a major ugly crying moment! I am not a spoiler reviewer, so I can't really got into tons of details of who, what or where if I want to stay true to my word. I will say that you need to read this series and trust me when I tell you it is a ride like no other! While the books ends with a happy heart, there is a bit of a cliffhanger...nothing that will cause you to go off the deep end, but it will make you wish it was December and not July!!! I am anxious for Kitchen Promises...
Kudos on another fabulous book Brooke...I was honored to receive and ARC copy from you! It was a true pleasure and thank you for humoring me with messages while I was reading...it only added to my experience! It felt good to vent about a certain character when I wanted to shove a high heel up their "bleep"...
I received an ARC of this book by the author for an honest review. Here is my review that can be found on my blog stephaniesbookreports.blogspot.com
If you have not read Kitchen Affairs, you will need to read that book prior to Kitchen Scandals. Molly is so sweet and she's had a rough go of it...her husband died when their daughter was two months old and she's raised her with the help of her gay best friend until she meets Drake. Molly is a student in his Chef program and he finds she has captured him before he's ever spoken to her.
Their love story is really sweet, but in everything good, there's evil. There are trials every relationship must go through, but it seems Molly and Drake have more than their fair share of issues. In Kitchen Scandals there are several events that these two come up against that most relationships would cease to exist if they were up against the same trials.
Author Brooke Cumberland has written an amazing story of love. She has added some unrequited loves as well to the story. And of course there are the unexpected instances that threaten to tear Molly and Drake apart. There was one point in the story I didn't know if they would survive or if everything they believed in would be thrown away.
Remember, relationships are hard. You add a child and another male adult (gay in this case) to the relationship PLUS extras that are tearing at your trust and belief in each other it has to be real true love to survive those trials.
About 50% of the way through the book I had to stop and message the author on Facebook and tell her I was not happy with the secondary characters of the book. I was thoroughly ticked off! Her response... "Looking forward to you finishing so I can get your reaction :-)" When I got to the end...I shouted her name at her on Facebook. LOL She asked if she was in trouble. Darn skippy! I did not expect her to end the book in that fashion. All I can say is....you should read this series! For real...get them. So good!
I have to give Kitchen Scandals 5 stars for the emotions alone!
Kitchen Scandals picks up where Kitchen Affairs left off. We get more of Drakes POV in this book. What makes him tick, how he thinks and acts towards Molly and Stella.
I thought Kitchen Affairs was a roller coaster of a book, well Scandals had so many dips on this ride I was like what in the world is going on??? More of Molly's past comes up and when Drake finds out he freaks.
Stella graduated and has a position at the Riverside hotel/restaurant. That comes along with a new guy who has fallen in love with her. I mean how many guys can she get to throw themselves at her feet?
Things between Drake and Molly have progressed so much so that Molly moves in with Drake. I mean OMG if you were madly in love with him wouldn't you want to live with him? As they settle down and try to be a family things start to show up out of no where. Molly panics because someone has gotten into the apartment. It doesn't happen just 1 times. I happens multiple times. Someone from Drake's past come's back to town and this person drops a ton of bricks on Molly. Her first reaction is to run. She has to think of Stella.
There is so much drama in this book that I didn't know if Molly was going to stick with Drake or not. Things from her past come up, Drake wasn't sure how to handle it. Then with the drama of finding out who is leaving messages in their apartment, and her chef job, I would of broke already. Molly stuck it out she had to because she loves Drake and she wants Stella to have a life that was simple and loving.
As things started to unfold I couldn't believe what I was reading. I never would of thought the person who was responsible for leaving the letters and roses in Molly and Drakes apartment would do that. I mean that person was so nice, loving and was there for Molly. With all this going on and someone put in the hospital this book ends on a happy note. Not going to give to much away but both Drake and Molly have a surprise for each other. Oh you have to read this book to get it all.
It has taken me a few days to get up to writing this book. I mean some parts really turned my mind around. I Love brooke’s writing, she just has a way with it that draws you so deep into the story that you are right there with the characters. I really thought I knew where this one was going after book one. I Loved that book and it ended in a way that I had my own ideas about this one. WELL obviously Brooke had other ideas and oh how glad I am that I was so very wrong. This book was SO GOOD! Full capitals good. It had great plot twists and I felt that we really got to know the characters more in this book. Secrets were definitely revealed.
We start back up with Molly works at the restaurant and Life is Good. The beginning eases you back in, and this is a good thing so don’t think it stays that way. Not in the least. It may start off slowly but thats only to brace you for whats ahead. Some new faces pop up in this book as well as old so keep a lookout because these faces come with hidden agendas, and not the nice kind. There are people that have it out for our lovely Molly and her ever dashing Drake, but their love is strong, hopefully strong enough. With Stalking, messages, and the danger ahead of them its a dangerous ride.
I never saw the ending coming. Not in a million pages. It totally threw me. I way thought I had it figured out. I was all “Oh yeha, I got it! Its So&So!!”, Nope. Its not. Your wrong. You will be blown away. So prepare yourself. I am now currently waiting on book 3 and hopefully the more of you that buy these books the quicker brooke can write book 3 Get me? Less promoting on her part means more writing, so lets promote, review, and send the love for the Riverside books!
Oh P.S. we are TOTALLY not let down in the Hot and Heavy department *Teehee “Let Down”* This book bring us right back into the exploding chemistry between Molly and Drake. Just You Wait And See
Just when I thought things couldn't get anymore hotter in the Kitchen. Molly and Drake have proved me wrong. It gets way hotter and more scandalous in Kitchen Scandals. I enjoyed this book even more then the first. Just when I think I have it figured out boom, I'm thrown for a loop. I enjoyed this book for so many reasons. First off Stella who is Molly's daughter just steals my heart. She is so smart and witty for a six year old. She adds a fresh humor to the story. Then there's Drake he's rich, protective, generous, loving, and darn right sexy. With that said it has the perfect recipe for a great book that you can't put down.
Kitchen Scandals picks up about a year after Kitchen Affairs started. Things are going wonderful for Molly and Drake. So great that they move in with one another. A big step for the both of them. Then things start getting weird. It looks like someone is trying to send a message to both Drake and Molly. One that puts a strain on their happy relationship. When secrets are revealed and betrayals are witnessed, it just might not be enough. How much can their love take before enough is enough?
There is a lot happening through the book. You won't want to miss one scandalous minute. I am pretty good at figuring out books. I have to say I was a bit thrown with this one. So many possibilities for an ending but so many twists and turns you will have to keep up. Things are less then boring for Molly and Drake in this book. You will definitely get some great moments from these two. Their chemistry certainly has gotten hotter. They just can't get enough of each other. They really are great together as a couple, and also as a family.
You will be rooting for these two most definitely. It is thrilling, mysterious, and such a romantic read. I would recommend this series to any hopeless romantic. It is so worth a good read.
Let me start by saying...Brooke you have done it AGAIN!!! I thought I loved Kitchen Affairs (the 1st book in the Riverside Trilogy)..but this one took the cake!! Normally, book trilogies are like movie trilogies, the second one never outdoes the first one. That is so not true in this case!!
Between the boys, the dogs, and the beautiful weather it took me a lot longer than expected to get to reading this book. But the wait was so worth it! Between the romance and the plot, I could not put this book down. Once I started reading it, I just couldn't stop. Even to eat!! My boys were screaming about being hungry and I'm like, "Just let me finish this chapter!"
Oh yummy...Drake. I absolutely love him. He definitely ranks up there on my "Favorite Book Boyfriend" list. He is so smooth, charming, and the sex appeal just rolls off of him. Lum, Lum, Lum. It was Drake who couldn't let me put the book down. I would end a chapter and God forbid if his name was mentioned anywhere on the next page because it was over!
I liked that Brooke gave more insight into Molly in this book. I always love that characters are explained because without that, how can you like their character?
There are so many fantastic parts in this book I couldn't even go into my favorite. This book will send you through a warp in your mind as things begin to unravel in the lives of Drake and Molly. This book got without a doubt 5 stars. To earn a 5 star means not only could I not put the book down, but I thought about nothing else when I wasn't able to read it. I cannot wait for book #3. The wait is already killing me!!
Don't forget to add this to your Goodreads TBR. I am telling you that you are missing out if you do not read this book. I don't give many books 5 stars but trust me when I say, you better get on it!
Kitchen Affairs was good. The story was sweet and romantic. The heroine Molly and her sweet little girl Stella were two great characters. Molly is an intern at a hotel restaurant that Drake runs. Molly is a loving, independent, at times though she can get a little down on herself. Molly fell in love with her high school sweetheart, Liam and got pregnant with Stella. Only to lose Liam to an accident. Molly is determined to be a chef. She took her best friend, Michael, with her daughter to Chicago to go to Culinary School. Molly and Drake fall in love. The story has twists and turns, and kind of ends on a little bit of a cliff, then it goes into the second book Kitchen Scandals
It is a year later, and Molly’s life has changed drastically. She landed her dream job in the kitchen where she interned- working at Riverside. Things with them are still really hot, and after getting through the challenges in their first year, Drake is ready to take the next step- they move in together. What Molly doesn’t know though, Drake has a secret. New threats keep popping up in Molly and Drake’s life together. Someone is after Molly and Drake is trying to keep her safe- but money can’t always buy safety. Kitchen Scandals lives up to its name, and it was good as well. Then comes the culmination of the series- Kitchen Promises.
The story begins shortly after book 2. Molly's still struggling with her ordeal from Kitchen Scandals I can’t give too much away, but there is drama as always when it comes to Molly and Drake. There is a lot of suspense as always too. Molly has a decision to make that will affect not only her but everyone she loves. Despite all the crazy going on, Drake and Molly are as hot as ever.
These characters were great and well developed. If you are looking for an interesting series, pick up the trilogy today.
I adored Molly & Drake and was so ready to jump back into thing with them. Brooke has created a great book once again!
Moly and Drake have progressed in their relationship, butthings still aren't jhunky dorey for them, they still have a few obstacles to tackle. I am so glad the book tied to the first without depending on it or repeating intself too much. I read a LOT so I need enough to jog my memory, but I don't want to re-read the book and Scandals was perfectly done.
I don't want to spoil anything - but holy shockers!!!!! If you don't want to be the littlest bit spoiled stop reading this and go buy the book now!
Violet! What a b#tch! I wanted to strangle her for keeping Liam (rip my heart out with the name btw) way from Drake for so long. I litterally swooned and melted when Drake and Liam met and interacted so cute together. I felt so bad for Liam the way his mother used him as a manipulation tool. When she drugged Drake - I FLIPPED a lid.
Travis. HOLY Cow! I think I had a cow. I kind of felt like it MAY be coming between him being the "man in the room" and then when he called and she answered the phone I was like oh no - she didn't listen - BAD Molly Bad! But even still - that whole part in the cabin I was biting my nails, stomach clenched and reading as quickly as possible.
The teasers (The New Baby, Denny, and Stanley) for Book 3 have me already anxiously awaiting it's release!
Brooke Cumberland has done it again and with more spice and thrills than before. The incredibly lovable Molly is back with her happy family of Stella and Michael and who could forget her incredibly hunky beau, Drake!!! And she is once again tripping her way through life attracting unwanted attention and fighting for the man she loves.
Once again Brooke did an amazing job with getting me involved with the characters I already had a relationship with. She wrote this installment in a switching point of view that added so much more depth to the story and to Molly and Drake. It was great to see the story from both perspectives and really made me like Drake for more than a pretty face and hot body.
The suspense and drama was kicked up a notch making this even more of a page turner than Kitchen Affairs. And did I mention that the relationship between Molly and Drake is hot enough to light your kindle on fire? Make sure you have a cold drink while you are reading this story! Brooke has definitely created a story that reinforces the belief of the hopeless romantic in me that true love real does conquer all.
What just happened?! Just when I thought I knew what was going on I was thrown for a loop. I don't think I have ever had so many predictions go wrong, but in a good way. I love that Brooke keeps me on the edge of my seat with her books. This is yet another one I couldn't put down. 5 hrs and I was done...I just had to know what happened and now I am left waiting for book 3. Kitchen Scandals picks up with Molly now working in the Riverside kitchen. Her chemistry with Drake is undeniable. Even with all the trials and events that occur she knows he is her anchor and there is nothing that can tear them apart or is there? Their relationship is put to the test a few times and I don't think we have seen the end of it yet. Drake does show more of his possessive side and sometimes I thought he might be pushing it but it was all for her safety. He will do whatever it takes to keep his new family safe and show Molly that he is in this forever. I absolutely LOVED Michael in this book. He shows up a bit more and I crack up every time. I do think he needs to have his own book (hint hint Brooke Cumberland). This is another must read! This book is filled with more drama, hot and steamy scenes and of course romance. You don't want to miss out.
The title says it all, Kitchen Scandals is super scandalous! There are so many twists & turns going on making this one action packed story from beginning to end. Everybody's got secrets in this one and you will be left guessing right up until the last page. And just when you think you have it all figured out everything changes! Ms. Cumberland has definitely kicked up the heat & intensity in her 2nd novel, while still maintaining the believability (<--its a word, google it) factor of her characters and storyline that I fell in love with in Kitchen Affairs. I can't even comment on all the drama without giving something away so all I'm going to say is jump on this series ASAP!
My only complaint, which is why I rated 4 instead of 5 stars, is the massive amount of typos and use of the wrong words. It actually happened frequently enough to interrupt my reading. So I had to knock off a star since it took away from the flow of the story (for me). But I did read an ARC so these typos may not exist in the published version. Otherwise I would definitely recommend this series and look forward to the final installment in the Riverside Trilogy.
~~~~~~Brooke, seriously!? What?? *Mind blown* So much love for this series and author! :)~~~~~~
Read this in record time! I just couldn't put this book down.
Brooke throws secret after secret! I wasn't expecting so much suspense from this book.
The amount of conflict was overwhelming. However, that's not necessarily a bad thing. Although it does seem like a lot being thrown at you, it's still somehow believable. I'm sure there are people out there that live interesting and action-filled lives like those two! I just felt so bad for Drake and Molly because I desperately want them to live happily ever after already. :)
I absolutely loved how suspenseful this book was. It was so unexpected and done so well. It had me on the edge of my seat, dying to know what was going to happen next. There's a mixture of romance, suspense, drama, etc. It surpasses the genre it's categorized in. Kitchen Scandals has a bit of everything to keep the reader entertained and intrigued.
I'm anxiously awaiting the final book in this amazing trilogy!
Kitchen Affairs started out on an odd note for me, but that was all cleared up almost immediately in this book! So glad I came back for a second helping of The Riverside Trilogy! There's a lot more of Drake's POV, Molly has even more secrets up her sleeves, and wow, where did the spontaneous death-threats start to come from?
It was one thing right after another with barely any breathing room which ensured I finished the whole thing in one helping! There was a moment when I thought that I had it all figured out, but yeah, no. I literally couldn't believe the big reveal in this one. It takes a lot to surprise me, too, so that says something.
There's a little something for everyone in this book since it's got family dynamics, trust issues, secrets from the past, lies that lead to shocking truths being exposed, and, as always, a little spice that comes only behind closed doors.
This was a solid 4 star read for me. I'd recommend it to anyone interested in a bit of mystery with their romance.
Crazmazing!!!! I LOVED LOVED this book. Just like Kitchen Affairs I got sucked in and did not want to put my Kindle down. You get more feeling and connection from Drake and Molly. The love and chemistry they show is hot and makes you fall in love with them even more. They each have secrets that can destroy or strengthen them. You get to know them more and see more into their lives, good or bad. The twists that this story takes leaves you holding your breath saying WHAT?!?!?! several times. You think you know what's going to happen but you are oh so wrong. It's mindblowing!
This is a book that has everything you could want all packed into one intense package. I literally laughed out loud several times through out the book. Brooke has done an amazing job at leaving us wanting more. I am patiently, okay maybe not so much, waiting for the next thing to happen. *ARC given by author for review*
Oh my goodness. Let me start off by saying I saw everyone talking about this book for awhile now. I never read the first book so I wasn’t sure if I wanted to read either of the two. Then I read Spark, and I knew I had to read more from this author. I ended up reading both books in two days. I loved this book! There were times I wanted to just scream… and I did. My kids were looking at me like if I lost my mind. This book was so unpredictable, I like not knowing what was in the next chapter to come. Poor Molly, she just can’t catch a break. I also would like my own Michael, who wouldn’t want a gay best friend. When I got to the end of the book I was like ok ok here is the happy ending that I love and then WHAM!!! What the French toast! Now we wait….. ugh hopefully not too long. I loved the cover of this book (not that it I judge) but hot damn her makeup is bitch! Love it!
This is another hit in this series. These characters are in for another bumpy ride in this book all of your favorite characters are back. Molly and Drake seem to go through one drama after another. You would think that these characters have had enough in the first book. I don't want to give away to much but I adore how even when things look really bleak they fight for their love they don't just throw in the towel. There are some really cute things that happen in this book that will keep you reading even when it looks its bleakest. Michael is a big help again through all of this story but where would Molly be with out her best friend through it all. I can not wait to read the conclusion to this book I am rooting for a happy ending for all the characters including Michael. I would recommend this book to anyone
WOW if the first in this series wasn't enough to get me hooked for life, then this book was. I need the third book to be out like yesterday. LOL I am an avid reader, I completed both books in the Riverside Trilogy within a day. I loved Molly's relationships with each character. Stella is a hoot! Kids do say the craziest things. There was a lot of build up with the story plot to Little Liam, and then everything seemed to magically get better but I have a sneaky suspension that it is just the calm before the storm. I can't wait to see how Molly explains, informs, and celebrates her finds that were at the end of the book (no spoilers from me). Mrs. Cumberland, kudos to you and your wonderful writing talents. I will definitely be a reader for life! :)
I received an ARC from the author, and I am more than happy to write a review because this book was fantastic!
I usually find it hard to top the first book in a series, but Brooke has outdone herself. Kitchen Scandals took so many twists and turns, and just when I thought I had everything figured out, I was thrown through another loop that I never saw coming.
The chemistry between Drake and Molly is undeniable, but it is even more palpable in this book. Secrets are revealed and the strength of their relationship is put to the test, as Drake and Molly continue to work towards their happy ending.
I highly recommend this book, and I am already anticipating Kitchen Promises!
