Schools are supposed to be safe, right? Well, not when someone is murdered on campus.
The plot follows Radhika (Radhi), a teacher at North Star: An elite school for the highly influential, where she is also trying to secure admission for her niece.
The school's calm waters are stirred during the preparation of their annual drama festival when the English teacher, Ms. Venus, writes a play which subtly hints at the corruption involving a well-connected politician. One,who has ties with the school authorities.
A disagreement boils between the undeterred teacher and the authorities when the former refuses to take down the dialogues of the play. Shortly after which Ms. Venus is found dead in her chair in school premises with probable cause hinting at a heart attack; and to make matters worse: a student goes missing.
It soon becomes clear Ms. Venus was murdered. As she was honest and righteous it seemed she rubbed few people the wrong way; the suspect list grows rapidly. Radhi, who is also a fiction writer, suspects foul play and teams up with Inspector Shinde to uncover the truth.
This is a gripping whodunit that very cleverly hides the truth under the wraps until the very end. " Though it's Book 3 in the Temple Hill series, it works perfectly as a standalone.
Also, on a side-note: I love how books offer a glimpse into the author; the subtle nods to Monk, Nicobar, and The Swimmers were fantastic touches that built an instant connection.
It's the small details that make the biggest impact.
If you're looking for a fresh murder mystery to solve, definitely pick this one up!

It was hard finishing this book, it could have been a 100 pages or less. My recommendation, read the first 50 pages and proceed to page 240 to find out who the killer is.
