I thought things were strange already, but it got even weirder when golden, robotic women kidnapped us. They're strong, swift, shiny, and made from pure 24 karat gold. These chicks could bench-press a dump truck. Things are looking less mythical by the moment. If this is all true, and I really am a Greek goddess, it means I have to figure out how to fight the biggest, baddest monster ever. Walking into an epic battle of the gods is not a priority, but it seems I don't have a choice. Suckage.
I should have taken ninja classes, because I'm totally screwed.

Presenting a totally impartial review of RISE OF THE OLYMPIANS 2! Yeah, I know Belle, and hellz yes, she's an awesome writer! I'd like to think I had something to do with that, but the girl has her own mojo & knows how to use it. So, I got to read this book as it was being written, which is a totally different experience than reading the finished product when it's all done and pretty. So, let me start at the beginning:
Book 1 was awesome and then we get to the end and I WANTED MORE. And I had no idea what she was going to do next. So when Belle sent me the first chapter, I was like, bring it!
Dude - two words - gold women.
That was epic! The golden maidens are hardly ever talked about and I really enjoyed her take and modernization of Hephestuts's iron girls. They could cook, clean, do dishes--and then when the car breaks down they can FLY me across town. BOO YEAH!
To add more awesomesauce, there seemed to be a little of this going on:
And since the characters are mostly guys at this point, it's really funny.
I liked the part with the, 3...2...1...AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! That made me laugh out loud. And Jay's reaction to the gold chicks. Uh...
HAHAHA.
The sibling relationship between these two is dysfunctional healthy and totally hysterical. Jay is the straight man and Lilah is a little more of a free spirit with enough snark to give Tony Stark a run for his money.
So after the attack the book clips along at a good pace (I won't give anything away). Lots of action and then we meet the most beautiful woman there ever was...and I started to get a creepy feeling.
I couldn't tell if they were in danger and was like RUN! She's got a bat! Dude, I was squealing.
YES! GAME ON!
Then Belle throws in a curve ball. Everything from this goddess's mad cooking skills to her demeanor was unexpected.
And I'm sure The Arrangement: The Ferro Family fans noticed their names - Avery and Henry? Yeah, she did that on purpose.
This read flies, so if you have a reluctant reader or a kid that LOVES reading -- they'll BOTH like it.
As a mom it's difficult to find books for my son that engage him and have a cool story. This does both. And the length is great for early readers and the humor and Greek mythology elements are there to keep adults entertained, too.
My overall impression... AWESOME!

This book is crazy awesome!!!! Belle is following beautifully in her mothers foot steps, welcome the princess of cliffhangers. This book continues the story of Lilah and her crazy rainbow hair and temperature changing necklace. Welcome in two golden women robots and two more Olympians to the mix and things are really starting to get interesting. Once I stared reading I just could not stop!!!!!!! This is so not just for teens this book is for everyone. I can not wait for number 3!!!!!

Another quick suspenseful read! Second edition in the Rise of the Olympians series. We have added new characters to the story and begun a journey. Except, which goddess is Lilah? Is she even a goddess? We are still searching for her identity. Another cliffhanger so be prepared!! Expecting more great additions as this progresses!
