Cash Mooney knows how to play the game. From rodeoing to women, there isn’t much he can’t win over. Until Ollie. The fiery little she-devil is impervious to his charms, playing the game he all but invented just as well as him…if not better.
Ollie Ravenwood doesn’t do relationships. In fact, she has one golden do not fall in love with her. Which should be super simple for a playboy like Cash “Big Daddy” Mooney. Neither one of them are the settling down type and prefer the freedom to do and see who they want as they please.
Except when Ollie finds herself accepting Cash’s help to compete in a breakaway roping competition at the end of the year, the heartbreaker and the casanova find themselves in a new, dangerous territory that’s equally as exhilarating as it is terrifying.
But Ollie is like a flighty horse, ready to run at the first sign of feeling fenced in, and Cash may not be able to convince her to stay. Like the broncs he rides, Ollie has the power to trample his heart and leave it in a cloud of dust, or be the best, wildest ride of his life.
My heart is still reeling after finishing this intense, addictive read.
It follows Cash, a cocky bronc rider who loves the rodeo, and Ollie, a guarded biker who lives for freedom. Watching these two commitment-phobes battle their intense, undeniable chemistry while trying to protect their fragile hearts was both frustrating and deeply rewarding. Their journey from defensive, witty banter to vulnerable connection felt so authentic, and it made every moment of their slow-burn romance hit that much harder.
What really brought this to life was the sharp, biting chemistry between them. They constantly trade hilarious insults and spicy innuendos, creating a push-and-pull dynamic that is impossible to look away from. Beyond the main couple, the found family element is fantastic, as the side characters added so much warmth and chaos to the world. I grew to love everyone in this town, and I am genuinely invested in seeing how all of these relationships continue to grow in the next installment.
While it felt a tiny bit long at times, the payoff is absolutely worth the investment. I was fully immersed in their world, laughing at their antics one minute and tearing up the next. This is a total must-read for anyone who loves high-stakes tension and well-earned character development, but definitely be prepared for that ending.
I am already dying for the second part because I need to know how these two eventually find their way to each other.

Huge thank you to Shelby Storme and Luna Literary for the ARC! 😍 All my bookish thoughts are completely my own. ✨
"Let Me Burn" by Shelby Storme is quite the book! It will take you on an emotional roller coaster, that's for sure. Cash Mooney (MMC) is the ultimate playboy f-boy. He is a player extraordinaire; he loves himself, he loves his mama, and he loves the rodeo. He is *not* a one-woman man and never has been... until Ollie (FMC) revved into town on her motorcycle. Ollie doesn't stay in one place for very long. She keeps it moving with only surface-level attachments and never, EVER does relationships. She has one rule: no one is allowed to fall in love with her, no friends, no lovers, nothing. When Ollie meets Cash, he is, at the time, romantically attached to a nice, sweet, prissy woman who is way too pure for him. He breaks it off with her so he can try something out with Ollie, who is a foul-mouthed, tattooed siren who haunts his dreams. Over the course of the book, they have a back-and-forth, or a will-they-won't-they about whether their relationship will become more than physical since they each have so many sky-high walls up. They are clearly very physically attracted to one another, but can it ever be more between them when one of them has one foot out the door already? One of my favorite parts about this book is the growth exhibited by both Cash and Ollie. It takes them *a long time* to get there, but when they do, it feels well worth the wait. The banter between them is also delicious and biting and witty and funny, which made this book easy to read and easy to get submerged in from the start. The found family aspect is STRONG in this story. The whole "cowboy Cash" thing was super annoying at first, but just like Ol, it grew on me eventually until it became undeniably freaking *hilarious.* Maverick also had me laughing throughout the book! I hope we get books about several of these side characters because I think they would also make for entertaining reads. I did think this book might be a touch too long, but that's probably just a me thing. I have a feeling this one is going to have a ton of fans. Be aware that this book ends on a cliffhanger and has a part two!
Thank you to Shelby Storme and Luna Literary for the complimentary ARC of this book. All opinions are my own. I was not compensated for this review.
Speechless, again I had my review all planned out. I love Ollie and Cash's story. The banter is top tier, multiple times I was laughing out loud and not just with them but with Bad and whole crew. I loved how the family runs maybe because it reminds me of my crazy family. Ollie being a leaf in the wind always ready to pick up and go, finding these people and falling in love with them ugh tug on the heart strings. The bar scene had me dying it was great and one of my favorites. But then that ending my brain is now all messed up. Book 2 where are you!
HOW is this real life?! I got to beta read for @authorshelbystorme 🥹 The woman who made me fall in love with cowboy romances with All I See Is You — a book I will forever rave about.
And now I’ve read Let Me Burn early?! What a dream 💕
Let Me Burn is the first in a brand new series and WOW — what a way to start. I laughed at the cowboy banter and by the final chapters I was in tears. Shelby truly knows how to write a swoony, emotional cowboy romance.
Ollie has never really had a place to call home. She’s guarded, a little icy, and refuses to let herself be loved… until she meets Cash — basically her male equivalent 💖
And can we talk about Hux & Quinn?! 😍 I loved seeing them as main characters too. Their relationship with Ollie was everything. They truly made her part of the family.
The Mooney family as a whole? Elite. The love, the loyalty, the banter (top tier 👏), and Mama V — who low-key terrifies me but I adored her scenes with Ollie 😂
No spoilers, but trust me — this is a MUST READ when it releases. Thank you from the bottom of my heart @authorshelbystorme for trusting me with this opportunity 💕 Now… book two please? 😉
Also, I enjoyed buddy reading this with my bestie @one_girl_and_her_book!! We love a buddy read anyway but to be able to both do a beta read for books that we love, what an opportunity 💞
This is what the cowboy romance world has been missing.
Shelby Storme absolutely knocked this one out of the park. Let Me Burn was everything I wanted and more. From the very first chapter, I was hooked, and by the end I was completely in love with Cash, Ollie, and this story.
The banter? Absolute perfection. Every conversation felt natural, witty, and had me grinning from ear to ear. Cash and Ollie challenge each other in the best way, and their chemistry is undeniable. Their push-and-pull made every page impossible to put down.
Shelby’s writing shines in this book. She has a way of balancing laugh-out-loud moments with scenes that hit you right in the heart. The story is fun, full of laughter, but it’s also hard, real, raw, and beautifully emotional. Every emotion felt earned, and every moment mattered.
The rodeo atmosphere, the cowboy lifestyle, the friendships, the romance—it all came together so seamlessly. This wasn’t just a love story; it was a story about healing, trust, and finding the person who makes you want to take the biggest risk of all.
Cash Mooney has officially earned a spot on my favorite cowboy list, and I already know I’ll be thinking about these characters long after finishing the last page.
If you’re a cowboy romance lover, stop what you’re doing and read Let Me Burn. Shelby Storme has set the bar incredibly high, and I honestly think this is exactly what the cowboy romance world has been waiting for.
An easy five stars. I loved every single second of
I loved this book & was hooked from the second chapter where we were introduced to our badass FMC, Ollie. With her firey attitude and ‘don’t fall in love with me’ demeanour, we see her start a new life in a new town. She is the hot bartender at an event where she meets our golden retriever MMC, Bronc rider, Cash Fucking Mooney( big daddy!).
Ollie ends up working on a ranch and keeps running into Cash, as they work together their chemistry is undeniable. I love their push & Pull banter. 😘🤌🏼
I loved reading about these two and getting to know their story. From their spicy scenes to Cash’s hardships & Ollie overcoming her past; this book had me kicking my feet, smiling at my kindle, shedding a few tears and getting fully immersed into this story.
If you’re looking for a small town/cowboy romance with the following tropes: Golden retriever / black cat Found family Friends w/ benefits He falls first Playboy bronc rider Heartbreaker drifter
Then you will adore this book!
There is a huge cliffhanger and Ollie & Cash are getting a second book!! 🙂↕️🙂↕️🙂↕️🙂↕️
Thankyou lunar literary management for the ARC & Shelby storme for a wonderful story.
Y’all, I am firmly convinced that Shelby puts pure crack in her books!! The raw authentic emotions, the connections made, the woven masterpiece of each story is something Roman Empires are made of.
It’s finally Cash’s book and y’all he DOES.NOT.Disappoint. I thought I was ready. I wasn’t. I don’t want to give anything away because truly this book needs to be experienced. Wholly. From cover to cover. These two burn in such a way that leaves me speechless. They are something so very very special!
Fire and gasoline… the perfect name for this duet. Cash has definitely met his match! You’re sucked into Cash’s big personality, and Ollie’s bada** I’m here for a short time drifter heart. There are twists and turns, highs and lows that make hold your breath afraid to release it. I cannot get enough of these cowboys, their strong FMC’s and the worlds of Mercenary Ranch & Broken Creek Ranch. Experiencing them together is everything I hoped for and more.
My heart may not recover from that cliffhanger!
If you love cowboy romance, nitty gritty emotions, found family you want to join, and page turning moments these cowboys are for you!!
Hats off Shelby hats off! I don’t know how you do it but man am I here for every word!
Thank you to the author for this ARC copy in exchange for an honest review. 💫 I'm a sucker for a cowboy romance!! This one hooked me from the beginning. The banter and laugh out loud moments are too good!! The chemistry between the mmc and fmc were top notch! I'm glad there was mostly a hea. But the ending?! I was not expecting that cliffhanger. I can't wait till book 2.
Let Me Burn was my first book by Shelby Storme, and I realllllly enjoyed it! I will forever love the cowboys. 🤠
I’m such a sucker for good banter and that’s exactly what Ollie and Cash have. The back and forth between them literally starts from the very first time they meet, and so needless to say, I was hooked right away. I really enjoyed the push and pull between them and watching their relationship develop throughout the story. I felt like they had an instant connection and their chemistry just kept me wanting more and more.
I also really loved the found family aspect and getting to watch the different side relationships develop throughout the book. I loved that we were able to see Hux and Ollie’s friendship develop, along with all of the others. They all added so much to the story and made it all the more enjoyable.
And that ending, it was such a surprise! I was actually shocked.. and now I need book 2 immediately!
Big Daddy showed up and showed out!! I devoured this book! I was laughing, swooning and even crying! Shelby really pulled me in with this one and I refused to let go. I’m so invested in not only this couple but this whole little world she has built! Cash is such a smooth charmer! Ollie girl is as sassy as they come. I love watching their story unfold! I cannot wait for the second part of the duet!
Thank you to Shelby and Luna Lit for the advanced copy of this book!
🤎Home Was Never the Plan... Until They Found Each Other🤎 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | 🌶️🌶️
Let Me Burn completely swept me into its world from the very first chapter. Shelby Storme delivers a cowboy romance that's funny, heartfelt, emotional, and impossible to put down. Between the razor-sharp banter, unforgettable found family, authentic rodeo atmosphere, and two beautifully flawed characters learning to trust each other, I found myself completely invested in Cash and Ollie's journey. This is the kind of story that makes you laugh one minute and tugs at your heart the next, all while reminding you that sometimes the scariest risk is letting someone truly love you.
Cash Mooney was everything I hoped for in a cowboy hero and more. On the surface, he's the confident bronc rider with a reputation for never settling down, but beneath all that swagger is a man with an enormous heart and a quiet desire to find someone who chooses him completely. His humor, confidence, and quick wit made him endlessly entertaining, but it was the thoughtful little things he did for Ollie that truly won me over. Whether he was making her laugh, encouraging her to chase her goals, or learning something new simply because it mattered to her, Cash consistently showed that love is found in the smallest acts of care.
Ollie was equally unforgettable. She's fiercely independent, unapologetically herself, and never hesitates to stand her ground. After spending her life believing she was better off alone, watching her slowly discover what it feels like to belong was one of my favorite parts of the story. The ranch family welcomed her without hesitation, and seeing someone who had spent years protecting herself finally allow people into her life made her emotional journey incredibly rewarding.
Cash and Ollie were magnetic together. Their chemistry was immediate, but it was their banter that completely stole the show. Every conversation was packed with playful sarcasm, witty comebacks, and undeniable tension that made it impossible not to smile. As their walls slowly came down, the emotional moments landed just as powerfully as the funny ones, creating a romance that felt authentic every step of the way. Their relationship wasn't just about attraction. It was about learning to trust, to stay, and to believe that love doesn't have to end in heartbreak.
The supporting cast made this story even stronger. The sense of family, both biological and found, gave the ranch so much warmth, and every side character felt like someone I'd happily read more about. Shelby Storme also captured the rodeo lifestyle beautifully, making the setting feel like an essential part of the story rather than simply a backdrop. And that ending... I genuinely didn't see it coming. The cliffhanger was absolutely brutal, and I immediately needed book two.
Let Me Burn is everything I love about cowboy romance. It's witty, emotional, heartfelt, and filled with characters who feel wonderfully real. Shelby Storme has created a world I never wanted to leave, and Cash Mooney has more than earned a place on my list of favorite cowboy heroes. I cannot wait to see how this unforgettable duet concludes.
Thank you to Shelby Storme and Luna Literary for the gifted advanced reader copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Book one in the fire and gasoline duet A brokem creek ranch & mencenary ranch novel. Rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ****arc review thankyou Shelby Stormie & Luna Litracy for the opportunity to read and review*****
New author for me I havent read a book by Shelby Storm before and im going to be truthfull it did take me a few chapters to really get into the book and im not quiet sure why. But once i did i enjoyed the story but i do have have a but its was just a little to long for my personal liking and i needed a little more spice. Id give this 🌶🌶🌶.5 The characters were fabulous I loved Cash despite his cocky playboy exterior, he is sweet, charming, and deeply affectionate. He brings a bright, upbeat sunshine golden retriever vibe that directly counters Ollie's dark "black cat" energy. Cash thinks he wants to keep things casual with the she devil until he realizes he is willing to risk having his heart completely stomped on, just for a chance to keep a "flighty horse" like Ollie from running away. Wow Ollie what a character, a feisty "she-devil" with a take-no-crap attitude. Who's mouth can be just as crude as Cashs's. She never hesitates to verbally slap back at anyone who crosses her. She’s guarded, prickly, and doesn't play well with others. She serves as the perfect sharp contrast to her love interest Cash’s bright "golden retriever" energy, shes his perfect match. And unlike the women/buck bunnies Cash is used to she is completely unimpressed by his cocky rodeo-playboy persona. She plays the casual hookup game just as ruthlessly as he does never having a stable family or relationship prefering complete freedom, moving through life as a serial runner and drifter seeing love as a weakness and inforcing the dont fall in love with me rule with whoever she is hooking up with.
Ollie and Cash's story is full of hilarious banter, sharp wit & biting sarcasm, Ollie is immune to his slick pick-up lines, when ever Cash shamelessly throws out innuendos Ollie refuses to give him an inch she shuts him down with her razor sharp slap backs. Their pysical connection is explosive, sizzling, and deeply addictive but also charged with romantic tension and underlying emotional yearning due to Ollies dont fall in love with me defence mechanism.
I also liked the Found family that Ollie gets especially with Maverick and Cashs Dad 'Bad' providing much need support and advice. I laughed out loud, cheered our Ollie girl on and boy did I cry the last few chapters which I wasnt expecting and erm excuse me cliff hanger now that I wasnt expecting at all so know I'm off to apply to be an Arc reader for book 2 as I need to fnd out wha happens 😳 I wont cope if I dont know the answer.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Honestly don’t even know where to begin, this book broke me, and I chomping at the bit for book 2 already.
This my was first book by Shelby Storme and she did not disappoint, will definitely be reading more from her. The way she writes, paints such a clear picture and enough details to make you feel like you’re there, without being to much.
I did not expect like this book as much as I did, to the point I struggled to put it down, definitely was not expecting the way in which it ended. Throughout, I felt for Ollie, being a loner and drifter not having anyone to rely on her whole life, then finding the group of people on a whim that soon started to call her family, would be mentally hard to come to terms with. Then add into that a HOT AS F*!k cowboy who learns to bake for you, damn…. Learning a whole new lifestyle and being an absolute natural at a hard AF horse event, as a beginner smashing it. She is an inspiration to others who grew up with little to nothing like her.
Cash puts on the perfect BDE playboy persona, but as the story progresses his sweet and caring side comes out. His pump-up CD was HILARIOUS! Loved everything about Cash, made me swoon as much as laugh, probably my favourite book cowboy to date. His high energy and not taking anything to seriously makes his fun-loving character, making swoon worthy moments like learning to bake even though he cant cook.
The FMC and MMC are such a like it makes their story so enjoyable, was I outwardly laughing several times to the point of tears. However, I broke on Christmas day when she thought she wasn’t worthy enough she had to leave, then more so when he was able to make her stay. Stupidly thought that was their cliff and they would get their HEA from there.
The cliff hanger the book ends on made me cry so hard and quietly scream (kids were sleeping), was extremely frustrated to the point I couldn’t even think of starting the next book. Which is almost unheard of.
I cannot wait for book 2 and hope Shelby doesn’t make us wait to long for me.
Let me burn Ollie and cash I absolutely love their story. This book had so much banter. I could not stop laughing. Cash is a rodeo star/cowboy with a mouth that won’t stop and then ego the size of Texas. Cash is handsome, kind, sweet, a little full of himself, determined, loyal to a fault man who hasn’t quite found his person until he meets a certain strong, headed woman. Ollie is an independent lone wolf trying to find her way in the world. Ollie is a smart, guarded, tough, beautiful, stubborn, and determined woman. She hasn’t had the best luck in life. She had a rough go at it. She’s not one for settling down, but when she meets a certain persistent cowboy her world gets turned upside down. These two are somewhat opposite, but almost the same, which makes this book even that much better. Although both of them have never been one to settle down or want to, they seem to realize they’re not settling with each other but just having fun. With cash being a rodeo star and cowboy on his ranch he hasn’t found his person, his real someone. Ollie is doesn’t stay in the same place/ town for to long so she doesn’t get attached or lets her heart feel loss she hasn’t found someone or something worth staying for. These two avoid what we all can see coming. They are meant to be, two peas in a pod, he’s worth staying for and she’s worth fighting for. I loved Cash’s family in the way they all had so much banter. It was so hilarious. don’t read this book at night because you’ll be laughing out loud. It was so good. I couldn’t put this book down. I did read this as a standalone. There are other books before in the series, but with that being said it was easy to fallow along. ⭐️/5 stars for sure. 🌶️/ 2 it was steaming. Oh and yes before I forget to mention, the last chapter of this book was a cliffhanger and I’m badly wanting to know what in the world is going to happen next…….
Let Me Burn is the first book in the Fire and Gasoline Duet. It is a friends with benefits, found family, cowboy romance with a playboy MMC and a heartbreaker MMC. The story is told in first person, dual pov.
Cash is a playboy bronc rider. Ollie is a loner and serial runner. When these two meet it's kismet, but they'll fight against their forever tooth and nail.
Ollie is such a terrific FMC. I loved her take no crap attitude and the way she doesn't hesitate to verbally slap back at anyone slapping at her. Ollie has a huge fear of commitment. She has this urge to run from any real relationship out of fear of being hurt. She never had a family, and I loved that she finds that on the ranch, she absolutely deserved to have that in her life.
I adored Cash's generally upbeat personality and his full of himself mentality, as well as his quick wit. He has such an awesome and supportive family and I loved that for him. Cash has his own reasons to be fearful of love, but truly does want someone special in his life.
This was such a great read. The chemistry between Cash and Ollie, and the emotional moments of the story, were palpable. The banter and wit between the characters, and the family aspect of the story were probably my favorite parts of the book. I will say, the ending is unexpected and left off with a brutal cliffhanger, which only made me need book two more.
I absolutely loved this book. The writing, plot, pace, and flow of the story were awesome and led to a seamless and enjoyable read. The characters, main and secondary, were all incredible. The storyline, storytelling, character development, relationship development, and world building were also amazingly done. I simply could not get enough of Cash and Ollie's story and cannot wait for the second half of their duet.
Thank you so very much to Shelby Storme for the ARC; all thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are 100% my own.
🖤Cowboy Romance 🔥Golden Retriever x Black Cat 🖤He falls first 🔥Drifter FMC 🖤Bronc Rider MMC 🔥Found Family 🖤Past Hurt 🔥Friends with Benefits 🖤“Don’t fall in love with me” 🔥Banter as Foreplay 🖤Mustache Rides 🔥Filthy Mouthed Cowboy 🖤Bossy, foul mouthed FMC
This was my first Shelby Storme book and it definitely won’t be my last! I loved Cash and Ollie! I love a fiery FMC who can put a man in his place with a smirk on her face! Cash.. Big Daddy Mooney.. whew this man is every bit the cocky, confident cowboy.
I LOVED their banter!! Witty and snarky banter is the best foreplay and Shelby gave it to us in spades!! I was devouring it! Ollie is a bit hit it and quit it, run the before they get attached type of gal. She’s never known love and bounced around group home to group home growing up until finally aging out. That really shaped how she is now. She’s also a baddie who can do just about any job and drives a motorcycle. I have a huge woman crush 😆 Cash has is own issues and a past that also keeps him from being tied down. I would say their romance is a slow burn but once they both give in it’s hot as sin.
They both have issues with feelings and processing them. Ollie is determined to keep people at arms length but Cash finally breaks through her walls.
𝘚𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘥. 𝘙𝘦𝘤𝘬𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴. 𝘍𝘳𝘦𝘦.
Oh and the fact he had Mav teach him to make her favorite food?!! Like what?! This man!! Swoon!! They were so much alike yet different! They really compliment each other.
There is plenty of angst and drama through the plot and side characters that added to the story. That cliffhanger?! Wow! I need the next book asap! I thoroughly enjoyed this and highly recommend!
I actually don’t even want to talk about it but atlas I will. First of all Mrs. Shelby Storme is an amazing author and this series is by far one of my favorites but this one hurt the most.
Like what was the ending? And how are these characters not real? They feel like they’re my best friends! I yearn to have a family and relationship like these characters. By far one of my favorite found families ever. My favorite couple was in fact Momma Vi and Bad Mooney and it’s funny because they don’t even have a book! Bad just reminds me of my dad so he has a special place in my heart.
Now let’s get to the nitty gritty. My heart is broken and shattered into a million pieces. Ollie reminds me so much of myself with being scared of love and always wanting to run away! There’s a quote in this books and it goes a little like this….
“I don’t think I’m capable of love, Cash. I don’t think I—” Her chest heaved and a new set of tears rolled down her cheeks. “I don’t think I’m even worthy of it.”
I’ve never cried so much (other than the ending of this diabolical book) reading a book. Ollie deserves so much love and she finally found it not only with Cash but with Hux, Quinn, Walker, the Mooneys and the hands and I can’t wait to see how her story continues (if I don’t get a second book I’m suing)
Now for Cash. We love Cash everyone does and I glad I got to see him fall in love with Ollie and experience real true love outside of just hookups. Everyone deserves love and so does our boy. He doing such cute and love able things for our girl like making her croissants, teaching her how to rope and ect. He was so perfect! I can’t wait to see how this continues! (If I don’t get a second book I’m suing)
This book was a dang good time. The FMC (Ollie) and MMC (Cash) are both scared of love due to events in their pasts, but when Ollie lands in Cash’s town at a friend’s ranch, they are like moths to a flame. The attraction is immediate and the flirting is delicious. Both have cocky confidence and give as good as they get. Their interactions are so much fun. I really enjoyed the way their relationship evolves over the course of the book. While the attraction is there from the get go, beyond the fantastic flirting, things develop a little slower.
Cash’s cocky golden retriever energy is irresistible. He’s the cocky that flashes you a golden boy smile as he drops an innuendo filled one liner that’s makes you roll your eyes, but secretly you love it and it gives you butterflies. Whereas Ollie is a little bit of black cat energy who’s been drifter her whole life after she aged out of foster care. She’s only known how to run when people get too close. The question is, can Cash let down his walls to breakdown Ollie’s.
Along with the fantastic MCs, this story includes awesome found family, some of which is Cash’s actual family. Cash has a tight circle of fellow ranchers and rodeo competitors that Ollie finds herself a part of. Her aversion to love extends to other relationships too, so it’s fun to watch her change as these relationships deepen the longer she stays in town.
Overall, I thought it was decently paced for 350 pages. It has a little spice and it made sense for the story when it happened. Definitely a story that hit all the right notes for me.
I was gifted an ARC from the author and Luna Literary Management, but my opinions are my own.
First off, huge apologies for being a little late with this ARC review, but wow—what an incredible introduction to rodeo romance! Having spent many nights trucking across Pennsylvania to go to rodeos and not making it back home until 3:00 AM, reading this brought back so much fun nostalgia for me. It was such an easy, engaging, and genuinely fun read from start to finish, complete with just the right amount of spice to keep things interesting. The characters completely won me over. Ollie Ravenwood is all sass with massive walls built up around her, and my heart truly went out to her as she slowly found the kind of found family she’d never had before in the secondary characters. And then there's Cash Mooney! The bucking bronc-riding MMC oozes pure confidence, but watching him fall so hard for Ollie and turn into a total golden retriever for her was absolute perfection—it’s one of my absolute favorite tropes, and Shelby Storme executed it flawlessly. Plus, their banter was completely on point and had me chuckling out loud more than a few times. Now, we HAVE to talk about that ending because OMG, THE ENDINGGGGG! What a diabolical cliffhanger! It completely threw me for a loop since I wasn't expecting one at all. Going in, I assumed this duet would follow a different couple in the next installment, but Ollie and Cash’s story is clearly far from over, and now I am desperately waiting to see what happens next. Overall, I’m giving Let Me Burn 4 out of 5 stars. While it wasn't necessarily groundbreaking, it was wildly enjoyable, wonderfully nostalgic, and an absolute blast to read. If you’re looking for a great rodeo romance with amazing banter, heart, and heat, I definitely recommend giving this one a read—just be prepared to immediately need the next book!
OMG I loved Let Me Burn so much!! Cash and Ollie absolutely owned my heart and I was hooked from the very first chapter. Shelby Storm gave me everything I wanted and then some.
First of all, OLLIE. What a queen. She was such a badass FMC and I adored her. Fierce, stubborn, independent, and completely unapologetic about who she was. She could hold her own and gave Cash as good as she got. Their banter was top tier and had me grinning like an idiot.
And Cash “Big Daddy” Mooney… excuse me while I swoon. I loved this man way more than I expected. He might have had a reputation, but underneath all that charm and confidence was a guy who completely fell and never stood a chance against Ollie. Watching him go from playboy to hopelessly gone for his girl was EVERYTHING.
These two together were absolute chaos in the best way possible. Neither wanted love, neither wanted to settle down, and they fought those feelings every step of the way. Which of course made me love them even more. The chemistry was insane, the tension was delicious, and I was rooting for them so hard.
I laughed, I swooned, I got emotional, and I seriously could not put this book down. The rodeo setting just added another layer of fun and excitement, and I loved seeing Cash help Ollie chase her dreams. Their relationship felt wild, messy, passionate, and so perfect for them.
Honestly, Ollie and Cash were one hell of a ride and I loved every second of it. Shelby Storm absolutely knocked it out of the park with this one. If you love stubborn characters, incredible banter, cowboys, and two commitment-phobes falling hard, this book is a must read. I’m obsessed!! 🤠❤️🔥
Ollie is a drifter. She doesn’t stay in one place for too long. Doesn’t like to get attached. Doesn’t do emotions. Her mum was a drug addict who passed when she was young and she went to live with her grandpa until he passed. Then she bounced from group home to group home in foster care until she aged out. She speaks her mind. She drifts to a small town and is offered a bartending job for one night. The owners then offer her a job as a ranch hand. She hasn’t ridden a horse since she was as 5 but she’s always up for a challenge so she says yes. While working on the ranch she’s shown what a real family looks like. Blood or not. She struggles with this as she feels like she doesn’t deserve to be loved or cared for. She becomes attached to a cowboy who is just like her, but in male form. She has one rule, don’t fall in love with her.
Cash is a cowboy. The whole deal. Boots, hat and a golden belt buckle to seal the deal. Infuriatingly handsome with a stupid cocky smile that does dangerous things to a person. He knows his way around a horse and offers to teach Ollie how to ride and rope. He knows how to tame the flighty horses but can he tame Ollie and get her to stick around?
This book was a hoot from page one! Ollies funny, sarcastic, has great banter and a mouth that doesn’t quit. Cash is the same. A playboy. He doesn’t want to settle down and neither does she. They’re the perfect match! But can I just say, it’s rude to end a book like that without the next one released! What a cliff hanger! Excited for book 2!
I received this book as an ARC and am leaving an honest review.
Okay… yep. I LOVED this book. The banter in this book is honestly next level. I was kicking my feet, grinning like an idiot, and laughing out loud the whole way through. Every interaction between these two had me completely hooked. Ollie is exactly the kind of FMC I adore. She’s fiery, fiercely protective of her heart, quick-witted, independent, and takes absolutely no crap from anyone. I was rooting for her from the very first page. And our MMC? Don’t let the jokester, playboy exterior fool you. He’s so much deeper than he first appears. His humour, confidence, and endless banter had me swooning, but watching both their walls slowly come down was one of my favourite parts of the story. Neither of them believes in love. They’re both convinced they’re happier keeping things casual and protecting their hearts. But together? They’re absolute perfection. Their chemistry is effortless, and I couldn’t get enough of them. I genuinely couldn’t put this book down. The banter, the romance, the side characters, the found family, the setting… I loved every single second. It’s one of those books where I don’t want to spoil anything because discovering it all for yourself is part of the magic.
And THAT ENDING?! Excuse me?! What do you mean it ends there?! I need book two immediately because I have so many questions and I am absolutely not okay after that ending.
This book was funny, heartfelt, addictive, ridiculously entertaining, and completely unputdownable. Safe to say I’ll be reading a lot more from Shelby Storme because if this book is anything to go by, she’s gained a lifelong reader.
I was not prepared for Let Me Burn... and now I'm impatiently waiting for book two because THAT ENDING?! 😭 Cash and Ollie are two people who have mastered the art of running. Cash is the rodeo's biggest flirt, completely against commitment, and convinced he's happiest keeping things casual. Ollie lives life on her own terms, never staying anywhere long enough to let anyone get close. Falling in love isn't part of either of their plans... which, of course, is exactly why it happens. I loved that this wasn't an instant happily ever after. These two fight their feelings every step of the way, and watching those walls slowly crack made every emotional moment hit so much harder. And the banter? Top tier. Cash and Ollie constantly challenged each other, flirted through sarcasm, and somehow had me laughing one minute before completely breaking my heart the next. One of my favorite parts was the found family. The side characters added so much personality to the story that I already need everyone to get their own book. They made the world feel lived in, chaotic, and so much fun. Just know... Shelby Storme absolutely leaves you hanging, so be prepared to need book two the second you finish the final chapter. ✨ what to expect: 🤠 cowboy romance 🏍️ tattooed biker fmc 🤍 commitment-phobes 🤠 emotional slow burn 🏍️ found family 🤍 witty banter 🤠 rodeo romance 🏍️ cliffhanger ending If you love romances where both characters have sky-high walls, the chemistry is off the charts, and the emotional payoff makes the wait worth it, you'll want this one on your TBR.
Thank you, Shelby Storme and Luna, Literary for the ability to read this ARC for my honest review.
Overall, I gave it 4.5 stars (rounded to 5 for this review). Let Me Burn was such a fun surprise and easily a great cowboy romance.
Cash and Ollie are both convinced they're not the settling-down type, and watching two people who are equally stubborn, independent, and terrified of getting too close made for some fantastic banter and chemistry. Now I will say some of the "big daddy" references throughout the book became a bit annoying for me as well as it seemed to pop up in almost every conversation between the two throughout the book.
What I loved about the book was the dual perspectives from Ollie and Cash about the other and themselves. They had to learn to navigate life and each other as well as the additional friends and family involved. Knock down their own walls and build some trust within each other. The additional characters (please write more on these in future books or their own stories), the dynamics of family and found family was a great addition to the story. There were so many that I wish we had learned more about and I'm sure we will eventually. (How about an origin story with Bad and Violet please?)
Just know going into this read, there is a cliffhanger at the end so I hope we get book 2 soon! Overall, I really enjoyed this book and look forward to the next.
This book...literally brought tears to my eyes at one point. I had a hard time warming up to it in the beginning, it took me a few chapters to really get into the storyline. Once I really truly met and considered the FMC Ollie I was sold. I don't think I have ever highlighted so many quotes or portions of a book that I resonated with. There was some spice here, these were some bad a$$ MCs and you know how things like that roll. Still the emotional portions of this romance are what kept me reading page after page.
Drifter FMC Ollie meets her match when she begins her orbit around the Bad Boy Cowboy star MMC Cash. She is most definitely in his world and there is no way she could forget it. His friends, family, and wooooo Miss Violet (his mama). Ollie needs to sort herself and her past to see if she can find a place that makes her want to stop running.
This is part 1 of a duet and I am besides myself at this cliff-hanger (no spoilers). Just know I will be the first one waiting to dive into part 2. Goodness gracious Shelby what are you doing to us?!?!
🐎 Golden Retriever x Black Cat 🐎 Playboy MMC 🐎 Drifter FMC 🐎 Found Family 🐎 He Falls First 🐎 Friends W/ Benefits
*I RECEIVED THIS ARC FOR AN HONEST REVIEW* Thank you Shelby and Luna Literary for sending me this ARC.
HOT DAMN is right ya’ll! All I have to say is….”I want a cowboy!!”. Oh, please dear lord find me a Cash…after that whole playboy thing, of course.
I am considered a thriller reader. Romance is a new thing for me. This book could turn me. I’m a sucker for anything cowboy related. (Yellowstone, hello. 👋🏼 😍) That part I knew I would like. What I wasn’t expecting to love was the FMC. Ollie is a drifter, a loner, a firecracker, and a girl who has never had anyone to rely on or trust. She finds a group of people that she eventually gets to call family. Love that for her. Love is not in the cards for her. How can you fall in love if you don’t know how to trust anyone? After going through life this way, why would she ever love a playboy like Cash? But then he goes and does things like learns how to bake for her?! It may have taken a looooong time for her to get there, but one of the best parts is watching her grow and change as a person to allow herself to love someone.
This book makes you laugh, cry, swoon, and feel all the feels. There is a second book, and I cannot wait to read it! (Kind of have to if you know what I mean. 😉)

4.25/5⭐
✨ My Thoughts ✨ This cowboy romance was such a fun ride. The banter was seriously my favorite. I loved the found family so much. I felt like this story flowed really well. Our MMC was so good. He is a true golden retriever. I was constantly smiling when reading his POV. Our FMC has a lot of walls up. I honestly don't blame her. I loved reading about her finding a group of people she can finally call family. I knew this book ended with a cliffhanger but I wasn't expecting what was going to happen. I wanted to throw my Kindle (in the best and nicest way possible). I need book 2 so badly. I am counting down the days. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants a cowboy romance.
Let Me Burn is part one Of The Fire and Gasoline Duet. This book is also part of A Broken Creek Ranch and Mercenary Ranch Novels. You don't have to read any previous novels to read this one. But I recommend them because they are also much fun. This book is recommended for 18+. As always please check TW before reading. This book is out and on KU.
✨ I want to thank Shelby and her team for the e-arc. These are my own true thoughts. ✨
This was my first Shelby Storms book, but it definitely won’t be my last!
I absolutely loved the banter between the main characters. Their chemistry felt natural, and the back-and-forth kept me smiling the entire time. One of my favorite things about this book was the character development. Watching them both grow and change throughout the story felt authentic and earned, never rushed or forced like it sometimes can in romance.
The side characters were just as entertaining, and now I’m determined to track down their books because I need more of this world.
The only thing that caught me off guard was the ending. I wish I’d known going in that this was a cliffhanger because I was absolutely not prepared! I turned the last page expecting a little more… and instead I was left desperately needing the next book immediately.
If you’re looking for a romance with fantastic banter, believable character growth, and a cast you’ll want to spend more time with, I definitely recommend Let Me Burn.
Thank you to the author for the opportunity to read this ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is a review of an advanced copy from the author and luna literary management.
This is book one of a duet so you know the ultimate happy ending will be in book 2, however I seemed to forget this when reading this book and was not prepared for the ending..
I love Ollie, she is full of fire, sass and some brilliant one liners.
Cash, is a sweetheart, full of swagger, charm and great banter.
They both have emotional baggage, they both don't believe in love. They both spark off each other with some great dialogue.
The story between Ollie and Cash is a bit of a slow burn. You can see the connection, the spark and the banter and you are willing them both to get together, but you also have this fear that something will go wrong or that Ollie will leave.. it really keeps you guessing.
In addition to the romance you have this great found family story that is made so perfect with the side characters. I loved Hux and Quinn and Cash's family.
And just when you think all is coming together.... you have that ending!! Why? why did it have to end like that?
It will keep you reading and now waiting for the next installment.
