Darkness Awaits You somehow managed to make everything from Book 1 feel even more unsettling. The tension in this book is constant—every time Ella thinks she’s regaining control, something shifts and reminds you that she’s never really safe. The paranoia and psychological manipulation were done so well that I started questioning every character right alongside her.
What really stood out to me was how realistic the obsession felt. Mark isn’t written like some over-the-top villain. He’s calm, patient, and terrifying because he genuinely believes he’s justified. The “he’s always watching” atmosphere made this impossible to put down.
And that ending?? Absolutely brutal in the best way. I immediately need Book 3.
