In the year 2050, the problematic buildup of greenhouse gases has been solved, and yet global temperatures continue to rise. As oceans grow warmer and the polar icecaps melt at an alarming rate, marine mammals begin behaving most peculiarly.
Thomas Freeman, a conspiracy author and UFO enthusiast, knows the only explanation can be terraforming. Soon his theory is confirmed as aliens arrive to colonize Central America. Thomas joins forces with climatologist Stephen McNair, marine biologist Sally Xie, and SETI physicist Darren Mitchell to uncover the truth before it’s too late.
As the intent of the invaders becomes clear, Colonel Benjamin Jamison is called upon to lead a military force to stop them. An impressive show of firepower comes up short as the technology of the aliens proves too much. All hope appears lost until the human comrades inadvertently discover one thing that the aliens cannot defend themselves against—and the earth has millions of them.
Neal Wooten grew up on a pig farm on Sand Mountain in the northeast corner of Alabama before being dragged kicking and screaming to the snow-infested plains of the American Midwest. He now resides in Milwaukee with his wife and three dogs.

This review is from: Pit Bulls vs Aliens (Kindle Edition)
A fun, tongue-in-cheek story of an alien invasion and a world saved by pit bulls. A quick read not to be taken too seriously. Some will undoubtedly complain about the exploitation of the dogs, but as a long time dog owner and lover, I know from experience that dogs enjoy doing what it is in their nature to do. Hunting dogs enjoy hunting, working dogs enjoy working. If herding dogs don't have cattle or sheep they will sometimes try to herd other things including children. I downloaded this book via Kindle Unlimited.
Oh. Global warming? Secret alien terraforming or should that be alienforming?
Pit Bulls vs Aliens by Neal Wooten is a book I thought was great ! It is not made to take serious, just a fun, crazy book where Pit Bulls rule as they should. They have had such a bad rap they need to be heroes for once! Yeah Pits! It is a short read with good characters, good plot, (although strange), and a great snappy ending! ;)
It received my nomination based upon an interesting plot line -- seemingly unstoppable aliens overtaking the Earth! The first 90% of the story was interesting and I enjoyed it very much. The final 10% of the book however, was just silly in how the Earth was saved. While the outcome is predictable, I thought it would have been a tad more creative.
So a bunch of particularly mean aliens send mind- control waves down from their approaching ships, to the Earth’s oceans, causing the dolphins and whales to resurrect their repressed building skills and create a huge underwater wall off the coast of Africa. This is not to keep the neighbouring barracuda off their turf as you might suspect, but to divert the Gulf Stream; cause global warming and make life all balmy for our sun-loving alien friends – errr – enemies.
It could happen – right? *Insert sound of crickets chirping*
Not satisfied with upsetting the demeanour of our formerly congenial marine life, these interstellar interlopers start setting up home in Middle America! OH NO! There goes my cruise to Acapulco! Panic not! We have a secret weapon; a four-legged one – with teeth and a bad rep. Yes, where nuclear weapons fail, humble doggies prevail! After unleashing them on the intruders however, I fear all of Cesar Millan’s good work might be undone.
It could happen- right? *More cricket chirping sounds*
Makes me wonder why the aliens didn’t just send mind-control waves in our direction and make us all jump into the ocean instead of bothering sending in the troops. Okay, so maybe we can forgive the author because he’d had a particularly bad batch of Spaghetti Marinara the night before writing this. On the other hand, it would make a splendid B Grade movie - right up there with Sharknado.
I gave it two stars because I suspended all disbelief when I read it, and the story was mercifully short.
Okay, I knew it was going to be ridiculous when I downloaded it. It looked too ridiculous NOT to download. But...it wasn't entertaining enough to earn craptacularity points.
Writing was amateurish. Cliche'd plot elements; simple, monotonous sentence structure; clumsy characterizations. (I'm not saying I could have done better. But I am not a writer.) On the other hand, the grammar and word usage were generally correct, which puts this book above a lot of other cheap Kindle downloads.
You know from the beginning that pit bulls will somehow save the day, so there goes suspense.
The way in which the pit bulls saved the day, I am not convinced it had to be pit bulls specifically. And it's not all that plausible (within the suspension of belief required to pick up a book with this title to begin with, of course) for the pit bull who started it all to have been on hand to begin with. Or is it more normal than I think it is for officers to take family pets on missions?
Anyway, if you are pittie-obsessed you might like this book. It certainly takes the prize for number of positive pit bull portrayals in a single book.
The perfect demographic for this book is people who love science fiction, pit bulls, and action-packed quick reads. In fact, the perfect place to read this book is in bed with a couple of furry friends at one's side. Don't have pets? This book will convince you to go adopt one at a local shelter.
I think the book could have worked better with a smaller number of characters. This could have helped readers get to know the characters better.
I liked that the story moved rapidly and can easily see this being made into a movie. My casting choices would be: an aged Will Smith as Colonel Jamison, Elijah Wood as Darren, Ming-Na Wen as Sally, Dwayne Johnson wearing an epic wig as Thomas, Jeff Goldblum as Dr. McNair (because who can resist the Independence Day connection), and Tia Torres as Glenda (a character who was probably based on her in the first place).
Once I started reading this book, I didn't put it down until it was finished. This was such a fantastic read, with a serious plot and some humor thrown in for good measure. A great story with characters who are interesting and intelligent. Good setup for the aliens and the invasion. Very believable. Having known a couple of pit bulls and been treated to their affection, it was awesome that pit bulls are the ones who save the planet.
This is a fun read. Great characters and a story line that's never boring. Good clean writing that is suitable for both young and old. Don't bother to read it if y ou're looking for gory violence and sex. Do read if you want to be entertained. Neil Wooten has a great imagination and knows how to tell a story. I will be looking for other books he has written.
Pairing aliens and pit bulls in a story was an interesting concept, to say the least. However, I found it difficult to take the story seriously. It was like a B-rated movie. I think it will be most enjoyable for dog lovers, especially pit bull owners.
Okay, it is kind of goofy, and will never be considered great literature, but it was an enjoyable interlude between the more serious stuff I usually read.
When I first saw the book's title, I thought it was another comedy. Not so, the author did a fantastic job threading now lit bulls save the world. We will most likely see more from the authors in the future. Once I got into the book, I couldn't wait to find out what happened next.
In a world where people who believe in aliens are laughed at and pit bulls are public enemy number one, everyday events become more bizarre. Dolphins attack and kill scuba divers. The earth is heating up. Food supplies diminish. Is it competition or survival of the fittest?
Physicist Darren Mitchell, thanks to the hearing of his pit bull, discovers a weak signal at the SETI complex near the southern border of Mexico. This signal, soon dubbed the Mitchell signal, has been around for a while, years in fact, but it is increasing in strength. Suddenly, the pieces come together for a handful of scientists and whack jobs. Aliens are terraforming the Earth. Trouble is no one in charge wants to believe them. Who will save the Earth?
Wooten’s story was an intriguing, engaging read. He created an authentic world peopled with real characters and unusual problems. His Earth invasion seemed quite credible, though I sincerely hope it stays fictional.
Probably would have been a favorite of mine as a fifth grader but not for adults these days past graduate school. I would give it a 1 star for quality of writing and there were a few clever sentences sprinkled about, but the chutzpah required to publish this raises it to 2 stars. I did like the part when the aliens had difficulty scraping dog poop off their shoes and also when same aliens were massacred like Romans at Cannae. Should be marketed as a young adult book where it would be great. What boy doesn't like dogs, lots of weaponry & dead bug eyed aliens?
If this title doesn't grab your attention, I don't know what will! I wasn't sure what to expect with this book, but I've read several other fantastic Kindle Scout books, so thought I'd check this one out. I'm so glad I gave it a shot. It's fast-paced and just pure fun. Since pit bulls often only receive negative publicity, it's wonderful to see a book where they get to be the heroes. It's a unique premise that makes for a thoroughly enjoyable read.
Warming the climate for their comfort, the aliens have determined it is time to invade earth. It seems nothing can stop the advance of their invasion. They are larger, stronger and their advance technology makes it impossible keep the aliens from taking over. Pit dogs make up a lot of the story. I won't tell you the plot, but l would recommend this book as a good action story that dog lovers and science fiction buffs would enjoy.
This was a great story. It had a unique plot, and interesting characters. However...This story was written horriby, and terribly cliched. I cannot really decide whether the corny, overused lines made it worth the while. I was torn between splitting my sides in laughter, and curling up in the fetal position to cry my eyes out. I loved and despised this book.
Science fiction generally isn't my genre, but the wonderfully entertaining romp Neal Wooten's Pit Bulls vs Aliens led me on has made a convert out of me. It was the title that first captured my interest, but what came after proved to be a engaging and entertaining read. I'm very happy I didn't pass this one by.
Fun book - I loved the premise and the interview with the TV host was well-executed. This is a book where you know what you're getting going into it and based on the premise, it fully delivers. Could make for a great B-movie adaptation.
This book had a good premise to it. I don't know why I could not get interested in it, even though it is about topics I enjoy - pit bulls for one, and global warming for another. This is one I hope you will judge for yourself. If it interests you, go for it!
What a wonderful, fanciful bit of fantasy. Completely entertaining. Of course, the title gave a huge hint as to what was coming, but getting there was where the intrigue was the most enjoyable. Pit bulls saving the world from what turned out to be a bunch of wimpy, huge, albino-white and ugly invaders. Unbelievable? I wonder!
