Fake dating a gorgeous, grumpy billionaire was meant to save my job, not make me lose my heart….

I’m days away from losing my job as a journalist when my editor offers me one last chance to save my career. When the opportunity to go undercover and investigate the richest man in Whisper Cove comes along, I take it.

What I don’t expect is that the infuriatingly hot stranger who stole my cupcake at my favorite bakery is the elusive billionaire, Hunter Waverly. When he catches me snooping in the library moments before a family heirloom goes missing, I become suspect number one.

His solution: play the role of his girlfriend, or he will call the cops. I agree for three reasons:

1. I need to clear my name.

2. I need his story.

3. Pretending to date him is actually fun. Who doesn’t want to fake-kiss a hot billionaire?

But fake kisses soon turn into late-night caresses under the stars. When Hunter reveals a secret that could destroy his family business, I’m left conflicted. Now I have a choice to make. Break the story that could save my career or protect the man I’m falling for.

This book completely pulled me in from the start and did not let go. The Wedding Scoop of the Year had its own twists and turns that kept things fresh and exciting for a romance—I loved every second of it.

Hunter and Gina’s banter was absolutely top notch. Their chemistry jumped off the pages, and every interaction between them had me hooked. But what really made this story stand out was the way their relationship grew. Watching them open up, break down walls, and ultimately help heal each other was something truly special.

JS Cooper delivered a romance that felt both fun and emotional, with characters you can’t help but root for. This one will definitely stick with me.

This was definitely a rom com type read!

It’s chaotic in way that works, the characters banter is hilarious at times, the story is fun, twisty and definitely makes you want to read it. Most of the characters are great, the ones we don’t like well they are meant to be ones we don’t like so definitely made me not like them the perfect amount.

Enjoyed the story plot it was a mystery and well thought out you didn’t see some things coming. I do like not figuring out everything easily so a good oh wow is great.

Enjoyed the chemistry and push pull between the mfc and mmc, was great their little spy missions, fake relationship, pretending not to be attracted to each other. And my fav was the best friend she was perfect, supportive, fun and I cannot wait to see where her book will go.

Overall I enjoyed it, would recommend it, just a little writing tidy up and it’s perfect.

✨️ 📚 ARC 📖 REVIEW ✨️

In true J.S. fashion, this book blew me away! It has been a little bit since i have read her, but all I can say is I wish I would have made sure more of her books are in my rotation! They will be from now on!

Gina and Hunter are the perfect example of opposites attract! Gina is full of sass and chaos! Hunter is grumpy and keeps to himself! They are consistently pushed together, and then the tension is being pushed into something they both didn't expect!

I loved that there were several side charactewrs and the roles that they played in the storyline! I'm excited to see what roles they will have within the series!

Thank you 🫶🏻 to ✨️ J.S. Cooper ✨️ for the complimentary 📚 ARC 📚. ✨️ All opinions are my own, honest, and voluntary✨️.

“You matter more to me than a Strawberry Special cupcake from Cristy’s. “Well… maybe not,” she says, and takes a quick bite.”

If you are in need of a good laugh, The Wedding Scoop of the Year will have you cackling in no time. Oh the shenanigans of these characters.

If you are in the mood for a fake dating, forced proximity, grumpy/sunshine billionaire romance with eccentric characters, The Wedding Scoop of the Year is calling your name.

From the first page to the last page Hunter and Gina’s story kept me intrigued and entertained. Prepare yourself for non stop laughter.

As much as I did enjoy The Wedding Scoop of the Year the main characters seemed juvenile. Gina, was worried about her job but did not take it seriously, she put more effort into her “situationships”. Hunter on the other hand is selective.

Gina is a reporter for the Whisper Cove Newspaper and is tasked with an impossible assignment. She takes on a second job as a ghostwriter for The Waverly’s. Which requires her to move into their mansion. As luck would have it Gina stumbles upon the mystery man who stole her Strawberry Special cupcake. After, learning his true identity things between Hunter and Gina progress rapidly. The relationship between these two characters seemed surface level but their chemistry sizzled.

The storyline in my opinion was there but veered off into several different paths and at times was hard to follow. The subplots did not necessarily add anything to the story. The twist at the end was a little surprising but honestly I expected nothing less from these characters.

The Wedding Scoop of the Year is a fast paced romcom that is sure to lift your mood.

Thanks so much to the author for this ARC opportunity!
This was a fun, light, and perfect read if you’re in the mood for an easy, entertaining romance. It has all the elements that make this kind of story addictive: forced proximity, fake dating, a bit of mystery, and an opposites-attract dynamic.
Gina and Hunter have a playful chemistry that keeps things engaging throughout. Gina’s chaotic, slightly messy energy contrasts well with Hunter’s grumpy, closed-off personality, and their interactions bring a lot of humor and charm to the story.
The setting at the fancy mansion, with its unique characters, creates a fun and a bit whimsical atmosphere, especially with the undercover twist and the ghostwriting story intertwined.
It’s the kind of book that’s easy to get through and enjoyable while you’re reading, especially if you love billionaire romances with a touch of chaos.

Every time a new JS Cooper book comes out I always have the urge to read it because I love the plots and I think I’ll like the story, or maybe I just believe in new chances. However, every time I decide to give another of her books a try, I always end up disappointed but I still pick up her books. I always think it will be different. This one was no different. I’m starting to think that she likes writing about ditzy heroines which doesn’t resonate with me at all. I felt like I was reading a book about a teenager even though Gina was 25. There was no maturity with her at all and she didn’t really take her job seriously even though she was worried about it. All she cared about was what she should do about her non boyfriend or as she called it, a “situationship,” and what the hot guy she kept bumping into was about even though she swears she doesn’t like him and called him things like an asshole or that he was rude. Off the bat, I knew he was going to be the hero and will be coming back into the story from time to time and that he would eventually be a bigger part of the story and have more significance but his appearance was also very strange and coincidental. It was enough to know that he would eventually be who Gina ultimately ends up falling for but to get there it was very cryptic and secretive. However, if you’ve read as much romance as I have you can already see where things are going to go and the bomb they drop about him wasn’t surprising to me at all because I saw that coming a long time ago. JS Cooper tries hard to keep us in the dark about Hunter but I knew where she was going with him. I’m not saying this is a bad thing, just that it wasn’t a surprise. When Hunter is more in the picture, the mystery about him still swirls and while you know what he is to the Waverly’s, you don’t know why he’s there. You just know he’s holding a big secret and something happened to him that got him to come back to the small town. It was a struggle for me to get into this book and when you finally figure out who this man is that she keeps bumping into it did get better. He even shows up when Gina appoints Emma, her best friend, to spy on her ex and pretends to be in the FBI while waiting in line as Emma gave her the run down. I didn’t like this part at all. The pettiness bothered me. It was all just so weird and added nothing to the plot or story except make me question why I picked this up in the first place. Then to make matters worse, most of the book was in her point of view so it felt like I had to endure her shenanigans the whole time. The book gets even better when she gets a placed into the home of the richest family in the town that everyone wants to know the scoop on. When you find out that this family is the Waverly’s and she is asked to write an expose about the family and their legacy, there was still minimal information which didn’t help with my interest. The strangeness continued when Gina found herself in the midst of a book club that had Mrs. Waverly running it and a lot of interesting characters that joined in with it. It spiraled into more weirdness when she meets another woman who claims she’s psychic and had these poets come to her with predictions and words of wisdom. In general though, after meeting the members of the book club, Mr and Mrs Waverly were also a bit strange themselves. They felt almost robotic and had a very Stepford like mentality. I didn’t know what I was reading. It’s like they treated her like family, but as an outsider too. They trusted her and welcomed her but kept her at arm’s length. It didn’t make sense to me. Then, Mr Waverly, or I guess Preston as he liked to be called didn’t show her to her room, and assumed she knew where things were around the house and immediately asked for her to make him a sandwich which didn’t make sense because she was the guest. They didn’t treat her like one, and instead it was like she was part of the staff. For example, she was there to write the expose, but also do household things like make Mr Waverly a sandwich or cook dinner for an event. It was just baffling to me why JS Cooper went in this direction because I would think that yes, she’s there to work but not cook dinner or tend to Mr Wavely. I didn’t understand this because it’s like they got Gina in the house but nothing was really revealed or answered. It still stayed cryptic and hush hush. I didn’t know the direction the book was going to go in at this point and it seemed like the Waverly’s kept delaying writing the expose and talking to Gina so it was confusing why they were acting like that. Once Hunter and Gina officially meet and under more personal circumstances the bantering becomes flirty and his attraction for her starts to show. Instead of them pushing each other’s buttons, it becomes more tender and sexual between them. This seemed a little sudden to me because how could they go from arguing with each other to basically at each other and ripping clothes off? It didn’t seem like Hunter really liked her, but then again the first half you get only Gina’s point of view. I guess JS Cooper wanted to hold off his thoughts until the second half when you find out he has this deep connection to her and this comfort as well as intense attraction and pull of his heartstrings towards her. It was surprising how much he liked her and the fact that he was willing to share everything with her. I think he clearly fell first which is crazy, because see, this is what happens when you don’t include the man’s point of view, you just guess and I got different vibes from him. He didn’t strike me as particularly emotional or someone who wanted to be with her, let alone sleep with her. He felt closed off and the type of man who didn’t want to address his feelings. In the end he was all that, but Gina reawakened his emotions and got him wanting to explore the sexual chemistry between them. In the end, the book was a bit strange, weird and an ok read. I didn’t like how Gina was portrayed and the book itself felt a bit like a jumbled mess. Gina was all over the place, ditzy and unsure of herself. Meanwhile, Hunter was too cautious and wasn’t sure about anybody’s intentions. The only reason I’m even giving this a 3 is because JS Cooper did a decent job in keeping my interest because there was different things going on and some mystery to this book I wanted to unwrap. It was like trying to put the pieces together of celebrities I love when things aren’t adding up or they seem overly private. You just can’t help but want to know. Then the spice was there and it felt passionate and emotional. Hunter either wanted to make love to her or just go for it and skip the slow parts. Emma’s book is next and I guess I’ll read it. I can’t help my curiosity, plus we’re talking about a town that pretty much only has billionaires so I can definitely see something there. I just hope JS Cooper doesn’t make Emma ditzy or unsure of herself.

This is book one in The Whisper Cove Billionaire series and it is Gina and Hunter’s story and what a great start to a new series and definitely a must read. Gina is a reporter for the Whisper Cove Guardian and now they wanted her to do a article on one of the wealthiest people who live in Whisper Cove which isn’t going to be a easy task but she needs to do this otherwise she could lose her job and career and then a job falls into her lap but it comes with many different challenges and complications that she definitely didn’t see coming. Hunter is a wealthy billionaire and in Whisper Cove to hide out after everything that he has been through and doesn’t want to talk about. When Gina comes to work at the estate he is suspicious of her as he had met her before and thought she was a little bit crazy but it doesn’t stop him being attracted to her and also liking her as well. When Gina and Hunter meet again at the estate she thinks that he is the gardener until he is introduced to her and that is when everything starts to make sense but how can she be attracted to him when she needs his story to be able to keep her job. The more time that Gina and Hunter spend together lines start to get crossed and Gina is surprised when he asks her to be his fake girlfriend especially as she is hiding a big secret that if revealed could tear everything apart and what happens when fake starts to feel very real which now complicated things even more especially as when they eventually give in to how they feel and they are totally explosive together and can’t keep there hands off each other but how will it all end. Wow I absolutely loved Gina and Hunter’s back and forth bickering and banter between them which had you laughing so much because they are such goofy and funny characters in their own way. I read this book in one sitting as I couldn’t put it down and I can’t wait to read the next book in this funny and addictive read.

This is the first book in Whisper Cove Billionaire Series and what a fabulous start to the new series it is! We have journalist Gina who has been threatened with losing her job unless she can get a story on one of the richest families in Whisper Cove. She ends up getting a perfect job through her Grandfather's golfing buddy. The Waverly's want her to ghostwrite write a book of their love story for their upcoming anniversary, however her editor wants a story on Hunter Waverly who has kept himself out of the press for the last year and there are rumours that he might be getting engaged soon. Mr Waverly has insisted that she has to live in the Mansion while writing the love story she has to work out how to manage working on the ghostwriting and still working at the newspaper! One day she sees Hunter mowing the lawn, without his shirt, she is admiring his body when he turns and she realises it is the annoying man from the coffee shop that bought the last one of her favourite cup cakes. She sees him a few times over the next couple of days and cannot believe her luck that they both ended up working for the same family, until one night she finds out that Hunter is actually the Grandson with a secret! He catches Gina snooping in the library moments before a family heirloom goes missing, she become the number one suspect, he uses this to convince her to be his fake girlfriend. The chemistry and steam between them is definitely not a fake relationship vibe. The story is filled with lots of hilarious laugh out loud moments, mystery, banter, steamy moments and love.

Cupcakes, chaos, and a grumpy billionaire who has no business being that charming… this story pulled me in right from the first bite.

Gina’s life is already hanging by a thread when a certain arrogant stranger steals her cupcake and her patience in one go. What starts as irritation quickly spirals into something far more complicated when she finds herself tangled in a mansion full of secrets, a missing necklace, and a man who is equal parts infuriating and impossible to ignore. From the start, Gina’s quirky, slightly chaotic energy had me hooked, and her bond with Emma added such a warm, grounding layer to the story.

The banter between Gina and Hunter was easily one of my favorite parts. It had that sharp, playful edge that makes a rom com truly shine, and I found myself smiling and giggling through so many of their moments. Beneath the lighthearted tone, there were glimpses of something deeper, especially as their push and pull dynamic slowly unraveled.

That said, the romance felt a little rushed at times. The spark was there from the beginning, but I wished we got to sit with their moments a bit longer and really feel that emotional build. The story seemed to pick up pace around the second half, when things finally started falling into place. I also would have loved more depth in certain relationships, especially between Gina and her sister, and a bit more focus instead of multiple subplots competing for attention.

Even with those small gaps, I genuinely enjoyed the ride. The twists kept things interesting, the chemistry delivered, and that proposal? It felt like everything came full circle in the most satisfying way. And now I’m definitely curious to see where Emma’s story goes next.

J.S Cooper has done it again. This story is hilarious, fun, loving, caring great page turner.
This story is about Hunter and Gina. Gina works in newspaper company in the small town she lives in looking for a story.
Gina's on her last leg trying to find a interesting story so she don't get fired from her job. Her grandfather friend found her a client the Waverly's but they want her to write their love story as a ghost writer.
Hunter is the Waverly's grandson He's grumpy He's a handsome billionaire who just wanted to be himself . Hunter once to be an ordinary guy without somebody liking him for his money. Hunter and Gina has bump head constantly. When Gina came to lived at the Waverly's Mansion she found out that the same guy she constantly bump heads with took her last cupcake was the gardener that she thought was the gardener but was actually the Waverly's grandson. With a special heirloom that was missing in the Waverly's house and Hunter found Gina snooping in their library. Hunter suspect her as being the thief .
The only way Hunter won't call the cops and put her in jail is if she pretend to be his girlfriend.

But during the time that Hunter and Gina got to know each other the more Gina start falling for him.

He Took Her Cupcake. She Took Over His Life.😅

A grumpy billionaire steals her cupcake… and then carries her out of the café like a caveman?!
Yeah…this book had me hooked right from the blurb!

The Wedding Scoop of the Year is pure chaotic, laugh out loud rom-com magic and I ate it up.

Gina is messy, relatable and just trying to get her life together when everything keeps going wrong. Enter Hunter, grumpy, arrogant , the ridiculously hot billionaire…who is NOT ready for the hurricane that is Gina.
The banter? Sharp, hilarious and constant.
The chemistry? Off the charts !
The fake dating? DONE. SO. WELL.
Watching Hunter go from suspicious and controlled to completely obsessed with Gina? Fabulous!
And it’s not just fun and flirty, there’s heart too.
Between the undercover secrets, missing diamond necklace and career vs love tension, this story delivers both swoon and substance.
Also… quirky mansion, eccentric side characters and chaotic energy throughout? YES PLEASE.

Huge praise to the author J. S. Cooper for creating such an addictive, feel-good romance. The pacing is perfect, the dialogue sparkles and the characters feel so real you won’t want to leave them behind.
If you love:

I found this to be another winner in J.S. Cooper’s rom-com books. I loved Hunter as the MMC and Gina, as the FMc, was such a delight to get to know. Before Gina even takes the job as a ghostwriter for Hunter’s grandparent’s love story, she has two separate run-ins with Hunter and neither on was pleasant. In the second one, although hilarious, he ends up buying and eating the last Strawberry Special cupcake that Gina had her heart set on. Imagine her surprise, when she gets to the mansion and sees the gorgeous gardener or who she thinks is the gardener. It turns out he’s actually the Waverly’s grandson. Could she possibly be able to get the story Holly wants her to write and save her job at the newspaper, while ghostwriting for the Waverly’s and making some serious money? We shall see as we continue to read this laugh out loud story. This story isn’t all laughs though. Gina has a sister, Tina, that appears to have everything Gina doesn’t. It’s all an act, but you’ll have to read to see what I mean. I loved Gina’s best friend Emma. She does some crazy things to help Gina, showing what a great friend she is. I can’t wait to read her story, when it becomes available. I’m not going to say anything else, so do yourself a favor and go and get your copy of this beautifully told story.

This one had such a fun, feel good vibe from the beginning. It really captures that classic rom com energy where the characters clash, spark, and somehow keep getting pulled back together. Gina won me over right away. She is stressed, unlucky, trying her best, and honestly so relatable. And Hunter is pure grump in the most entertaining way. Every time they interacted, I was grinning.

Their first run in at the coffee shop set the tone perfectly. A bit chaotic, a bit embarrassing, and full of tension they both pretend not to feel. From there, their back and forth only gets funnier and more addictive.

The fake dating setup worked so well. What starts as a necessary deal quickly turns into something neither of them expected. The chemistry is strong throughout, and the shift from annoyance to real feelings felt natural and satisfying.

I also liked that there is more happening under the surface. Secrets, pressure, family issues, Gina’s personal struggles. It adds a little extra pull and keeps you curious about how everything will unfold.

It does take a little while to settle in, but once it does, it becomes such an easy page turner. The reveals toward the end were really good and tied things together nicely.

Overall, it is funny, sweet, dramatic in a good way, and perfect if you love grumpy hero energy, chaotic heroine energy, fake dating, and lots of chemistry.

🧁 The Wedding Scoop of the Year — ARC Review 🧁

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A grumpy billionaire who steals her cupcake and then makes her his fake girlfriend? Yeah I was sold!

This book is pure chaotic rom-com energy and it just works. Everything feels slightly unhinged in the best way with secrets, misunderstandings, a bit of snooping, a missing heirloom. There’s always something happening.

Gina? A mess. But a relatable one. She’s trying to save her career while juggling lies that are very close to blowing up in her face.
Hunter? Classic grumpy billionaire: controlled, suspicious, and absolutely not ready for the chaos that is Gina.

Their dynamic? Elite. Constant banter, tension, button-pushing, the kind where they pretend not to be attracted to each other but literally no one is fooled. The fake dating trope? Done so well here. The more they play the part, the messier and better it gets.

But what I really liked is that underneath all the chaos, there’s something softer. Both of them are carrying things they don’t say out loud, and watching them slowly lower their walls felt really satisfying.

Also the mystery layer? Such a good addition. It keeps the story moving and adds that little “oh wait…” moment when you don’t see something coming.

And the side characters? So fun. (The best friend especially, I need her story ASAP!) Definitely makes me want to keep going with the series.

Thanks so much to @jscooperauthor for this ARC !

This was such a fun and addictive read with just the right mix of romance, tension, and intrigue. The premise immediately hooked me—a grumpy billionaire posing as a gardener and an undercover reporter desperate to save her career? Say less.

Gina was easy to root for from the start. She’s messy, a little down on her luck, but determined in a way that makes you want her to win. And the hero? Peak grumpy energy. The coffee shop meet-cute (or… cupcake theft 😅) set the tone perfectly for their dynamic—banter-filled, slightly antagonistic, and undeniably charged.

The fake dating trope was executed really well here. The forced proximity and “prove your innocence” setup created so many moments of tension, and I loved how quickly their reluctant partnership turned into something much more complicated. The chemistry? So good. The shift from irritation to attraction felt natural, with just enough slow burn to keep me invested.

I also appreciated the layer of mystery woven throughout the romance. The secrets and underlying agenda added stakes beyond just the relationship, and it kept me turning pages to see how everything would unravel.

This was a super enjoyable read with great banter, a swoony grump, and plenty of drama to keep things interesting. If you love fake dating, billionaire romance, and a little investigative twist, this one is definitely worth picking up!

I had the pleasure of receiving this as an e-ARC and voluntarily will be giving my honest review. This was a roller coater of emotions in a good way!! The banter between Hunter and Gina had me crying laughing. Just loved their chemistry together! This was such a fun read totally enjoyed it!!

“Fake dating a gorgeous, grumpy billionaire was meant to save my job, not make me lose my heart….

Break the story that could save my career or protect the man I’m falling for.”

This is the first book in Whisper Cove Billionaire. Gina's best friend from childhood Emma, who is also employed by the newspaper which is owned by her family is facing loss of employment as well. To keep her job Gina is forced to work undercover to find out all about the richest man in Whisper Cove none other than Hunter Waverly! What a scoop for the newspaper to have a top headline all about the very private Hunter. Until she runs into a guy and they run into each other a few times and does not like him especially the last Strawberry Cupcake that is her all time favorite. She ends up getting a perfect job through her Grandfather's golfing buddy. The Waverly's want her to write a book of their love story but be a ghost writer. She thinks this is a perfect job because they have a secret about their grandson that know one knows. She gets to live in the Mansion with the Waverly's while writing the love story book plus finding out the secret that can help save her job. Until she see's Hunter mowing the lawn, she thinks he is just another worker like her until one night she finds out that Hunter is actually the Grandson with some secret no one knows. When he catches me snooping in the library moments before a family heirloom goes missing, she become the number one suspect. The story is filled with laughter, mystery, steamy moments.

This is very clearly a rom-com right from the start. The story jumps straight into Gina’s quirky, chaotic life, and her personality really sets the tone. It was cute, funny, and just a little wild.

I’ll admit, the beginning was a bit hard for me to get into. It took until around the 35% mark for things to really click, but once it did, the story steadily picked up and kept me more engaged.

There’s a lot going on throughout the book. There are secrets, twists, and unanswered questions that keep you reading because you need to know what’s actually happening behind the scenes. That sense of curiosity definitely kept me invested.

And Gina and Hunter’s chemistry is undeniable. They’re fun, flirty, and I found myself looking forward to every scene they shared. They really bring the heart to the story.

The slow burn does take its time, but the reveals along the way, and especially toward the end, make it worth it. I genuinely couldn’t predict everything that was unfolding, which made it even more enjoyable when it all came together.

Overall, this is a slower-paced rom-com with excellent writing that rewards your patience with a satisfying and twist-filled ending.

4.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

He’s a grumpy billionaire pretending to be a gardener. She’s the undercover reporter trying to get his story. What begins with a meet-cute gone wrong, ends in a love story, neither of them ever saw coming.

The Wedding Scoop of the Year was a fun and intriguing rom-com read with just the right mix of romance, intrigue, mystery and tension. It is pure chaos with all the emotions. Sharp, hilarious banter? Off the charts chemistry? An obsessed MMC? And a sweet but messy FMC?

A theft that happens right under their noses, creates the perfect scenario for forced proximity, an excuse to “fake date” the billionaire and a “prove your innocence” set-up that keeps Gina close to Hunter, while he figures her out. The chemistry between these two builds quickly, with just enough slow burn to keep you glued to the page. I loved the career x love tension that builds up between these characters - leaving you wondering how and WHEN is everything is going to fall apart and right itself again!!

I loved seeing both Gina & Hunter’s development through the story. Gina is kind-hearted, quirky and the best friend type you want in your life. She brought so much life and laughter into Hunter’s life with her crazy antics and I loved seeing how that opened him up again!!. Hunter, the grumpy, mysterious billionaire, was somewhat of a shock to me. His background surprised me but made me love him even more. He brings all the intensity, passion and love that Gina needed in her life.

𝗣𝗶𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀: A grumpy billionaire posing as a gardener and a journalist undercover make for a fun pair in this hilarious rom-com. Gina may be chaotic, but her endearing nature is sweet. Despite her good intentions, she tends to attract trouble. That trouble being Hunter. Hunter might give off grumpy vibes, but he is actually a man reinventing himself and trying to live life to the fullest without regrets, especially avoiding fake people who only see him for his wealth.

𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗚𝗶𝗻𝗮, she is on the verge of losing her job when her boss offers her the chance to dig up some dirt on the richest man in Whisper Cove, that being Hunter Waverly. But Gina already knows him - he’s actually the grumpy guy who took the last cupcake, and now she’s falling for him. This only means risking her job and heart in the process.

Both characters were highly amusing, and I loved watching their dynamic and mutual understanding unfold. The story is filled with laughter, mystery, steamy moments, and a plot that kept me engaged throughout. If you're a fan of fake dating and unexpected connections, this is a great read! Big thanks to the author for this reading copy.

✨Gifted ARC✨
What a wild ride this book ended up being!

THOUGHTS 💭
🗞️ Great for fans of Lucy Score’s Riley Thorn series or Ivy Smoak’s The Society series, this book featured a wacky cast of characters and a frenetic energy.
📖 Gina and Hunter antagonized and disliked each other from the first chapter, but still fell for each other, despite the stolen cupcakes and secrets.
🗞️ I love a supportive best friend in my books and Emma was wonderful; I’m glad she’s getting her own story next.
📖 Gina will do anything to save the newspaper (and her job as a reporter), including moving into the elusive, uber-wealthy Waverly family home for a story; things did not go as she expected!
🗞️ The first half of this book was really about setting the scene and getting to know our FMC. About halfway through the book, we finally got Hunter’s point of view, and I was happy to fully dive into the story.
📖 It’s hard for me to watch characters do things that we, as the reader, KNOW aren’t going to end well!
🗞️ There were a few unexpected twists and turns in this book; it ended up having some mystery vibes, which I didn’t expect going in.

Overall, I didn’t absolutely fall in love with these characters and their story, but I still enjoyed this read.

Thanks so much to J.S. Cooper for the ARC of this read!

Gina works for a newspaper in a small town. She is on the verge of losing her job if she can not get a good story to publish. Her boss is always telling her she needs something better. Until she runs into a guy and they run into each other a few times and does not like him especially the last Strawberry Cupcake that is her all time favorite. She ends up getting a perfect job through her Grandpas golfing friend. Hunter does not know she is a reporter. They end up hanging out alot to find out what happened with his Grandmother's missing necklace. They are both keeping a secret that they both feel they need to tell each other before they get more into their relationship. Hunter tells Gina his secret and she is completely shocked. She now has to choose between her job or Hunter. Someone tells Hunter was Gina is actually doing in the mansion and wants her out. She needs to find a way to move on and not think about Hunter anymore. Who will run after who to forgive them.

This is a perfect Rom-Com

ARC Review: J.S. Cooper
The Wedding Scoop of the Year (Book #1) - ⭐️⭐️⭐️.75 / 🌶

This is the first book in the series. This book is a mixture of cute, funny, and sweet moments.

This book follows Gina, a sweet and beautiful journalist, who's newspaper company has been doing really bad. She needs a big story to keep her job, whilst looking for love. Hunter, the hot and sexy guy, is the CEO of his wealthy families company. Their meet cute story is so funny and cute and started when Hunter stole Gina's cupcake lol.

Some of the tropes for this book are below:

🧡 Enemies-to-Lovers
🧡 Grumpy X Sunshine
🧡 Hidden Secrets
🧡 Forced Proximity

I really enjoyed this book, its so sweet and the banter between each of the characters is cute. The chemistry was there from the get go. The book was a bit slow for me in the beginning, but once the pace picked up, I really got stuck into it. The book ends so beautiful and sweet.

This book is definitely for the rom-com lovers out there.

Thank you J.S. Cooper for giving me this amazing opportunity to read this ARC and to give my honest review, I just loved it.

This was my first time reading this author, and the story was messy at the beginning — but in a way that works. You get to meet all the characters and start uncovering their secrets, and the past and present slowly come together. It kept me curious and wanting to know more.

As I kept reading, more secrets came out, and discovering them little by little made the characters even more interesting. Everything started to connect in surprising ways, and it was exciting figuring it out.

The steamy scenes are full of passion and heat. They made my heart race and left me completely invested in the characters. The tension between them was electric, and every intimate moment had me hooked — I wanted more, and it felt thrilling and alive the whole way through.

The story also balances emotional, dramatic moments with chaos and fun. The intensity, surprises, and unpredictable twists make the story feel alive. Secrets, character dynamics, romance, and fun all collide in a way that kept me reading nonstop. It’s messy, passionate, exciting, and addictive — exactly what I needed.

When Love Takes Over Your Heart -
Gina and Hunter’s relationship didn’t start on a positive note, but fate kept bring them back together in different situations, where they spent time together and the dynamics of their relationship changed. Unfortunately, secrets and misunderstanding without seeking clarification cause Hunter and Gina to breakup, but generational experiences brings about the clarity and truth needed to rekindle their relationship, so they could get back on track towards the happy life they were building together.

This is a slow build romance story that took me on a crazy rollercoaster ride where a past love story unravels, as it connects with a present love connection built on a shaky foundation, but loyalty, true love and ultimately trusting in each other was the most important part of their lives. I was glued to the pages from the beginning and didn’t stop reading until I reached the end. I highly recommend this book.

I received an advanced review copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

This book was soo cute. I had the honor of reading this as an ARC and I absolutely loved every bit of this book. I am so sorry that my review is so late being posted, I have had a bunch of stuff going on in my personal life that I have not been handling well. But I am finally getting caught up on everything.

This book had me hooked from the get go! Gina is a little messy and her life is a slight disaster with her sketchy boyfriend. Her and a friend start scoping out said boyfriend because he mentioned something about going to a jewelry store and she finds herself in the line at her favorite bakery. Of course with the way her life has been going, the man who she ran into before is right behind her in line. And the way they instantly banter is precious. She notices that there is only one more of her favorite cupcake and what happens? Hunter, the man behind her takes it! Fake dating is all fun and games until one person, or both, actually fall for the other. This book had NO reason being as cute as it was! I can’t wait for more from J.S. Cooper!

The Wedding Scoop of the Year by J.S. Cooper is a super cute rom-com about Gina, a news reporter on the verge of losing her job, and Hunter, the elusive billionaire grandson of the Waverly Family. Gina takes a job as a ghost writer for the Waverly family in the hopes of getting an exclusive scoop for a news article that will not only save her career but potentially the paper.

The interactions between Gina and Hunter made the story for me, I loved reading each of their interactions and was giggling and kicking my feet when they finally gave into the pull they felt for the other. Their meet-cute was hilarious and imperfect but that just made their relationship so much more. They each were able to be themselves with the other.

The whole time I was reading I kept yelling at Gina to tell Hunter about the article and everything she was keeping a secret, especially once you learn about why Hunter disappeared for a year from the public eye. There is a third-act breakup, but it’s a romance novel so you know they find their way back to each other it’s just a matter of how. And this one is so cute!

I enjoyed the mystery aspect of the story too, and was able to piece it together before the big reveal. Even with that it was still enjoyable to read.

If you like enemies to lovers, forced proximity, fake relationship, and a love for cupcakes I definitely recommend this one.

The Wedding Scoop is a sweet book.
I loved when Gina tried to pull off being an FBI agent and how Hunter wasn’t buying it for a minute. I thought it was hilarious when she thought he was the gardener.
I didn’t really pay much attention to Amethyst, I just thought it was odd the she was hanging around until I understood who she really was.
4. I wish Holly, Tina, and the Jennys were all tossed In the ocean or at least have a knock down drag out fight among them or have Patrick give one them something 🙂
I thought Gina was a bit of a mess at first and she was all over the place. Hunter was really hurt and Gina should have told him the truth early on, but then it all had to fall in place. I thought Gina was too forgiving toward Tina. After Tina’s tirade I would have said au revoir to her and told her she could find her own ride home. But then Gina is a nicer person than I am.
Thanks to J.S. Cooper for the advance copy
