(SHORT STORY, part of Grains of Sand) Another in my "what do animals think" series. I saw a documentary about a species of birds somewhere in the world that hatch hundreds at a time, migrate on the ground, then take flight. I saw this when I was about seven. I wrote a two-paragraph "story" about it, the longest work I'd ever produced. Sometimes, the things I wrote as a little kid provide the best inspiration for new stories. No, this is not a biologically accurate depiction of any system I am aware of on this planet. It's a story. It's a unique perspective on evolution and a religious commentary on the animal world.
