Growing increasingly tired of her job as PA to the suave, handsome, but ever-frustrating billionaire CEO Dawson Alexander, Zoe plans to quit in explosive fashion, and fulfill her dream of traveling the world. When her plan to blackmail her erstwhile boss goes awry, however, Zoe finds herself bound, held captive at the unpredictable mercy of the sadistic billionaire, determined to teach her a lesson!
Before she knows it, Zoe finds herself playing a dangerous game; caught in an illicit and steamy affair with one of the world's most eligible bachelors, her horizons are broadened and her sexual world opened up to new agonies and ecstasies she never thought possible, but how long can they maintain their volatile, high-octane relationship?
If You Dare is an extremely salacious, steamy erotic novel from best-selling author Evelyn Troy. It is NOT for anyone under the age of eighteen, or for the faint of heart!
Immature writing. Annoying MC. Things escalated too fast without any chemistry. Who the fuck says "how do you like them apples" in a book. How tf did that shit happen ?

Let me just say this before you read this review. I have no problem with BDSM relationship or reading about them, when they are done accurately and tastefully.
What's it all about? Zoe is over being pushed around by her now ex, and or course her boss. With the plan of blackmail to make sure that her boss pays her some sort of severance, but it doesn’t quite work of for Zoe. Dawson has plans of his own. This novel portrays BDSM.
The Best Parts: I didn’t like a lot about this book; the one thing I did like though was the true display of BDSM in the sex club scenes. The few sex scenes in the club we probably the best part to the book as well as the plane scene. They weren’t forced, and the characters seemed to come well together. They weren’t trying to find themselves in the scene. Also the writing for the scene was only then and there. Some of the other scenes throughout the book jumped mid paragraph to another persons POV, even though it’s third person.
The Worst Parts: This story feels like glorified rape. The first sexual encounter Dawson handcuffs her to a radiator without her permission and goes at it with her. The second time when they create a safe word, but Zoe screams ‘No’ multiple times and he tells her blatantly that she doesn’t mean that. Last time I checked even in a sub/dom relationship, no still meant no. Dawson informs Zoe that she is in fact a submissive, but what gets me going is that once he does this she loses herself completely. She is looking to him to tell her more about herself, “Dawson had informed her that she was a sub, but was she also a bisexual?” No man should ever tell you who you are as a person. The last portion to the book threw me for a whirl wind because the characters changed instantly. Zoe got her sanity back, and Dawson was apologizing for the way he has his way with her. It just gave me more of a headache.
Final thoughts ... I have read many BDSM novels, as well have studied a lot on BDSM, but this novel did nothing to enhance my love. If anything it made me cringe more then get hot and heavy. This novel was free on kindle and I got it because the stars were high on it, and the author is one that I have heard of before, but it felt like this novel was the first she ever wrote. The story wasn’t developed and felt all over the place.
The hook up was unbelievable. She hates her boss, storms in to resign, and next minute she's blindfolded, restrained, and following his every order. Yeah, right.
The power exchange and numerous references to her inner voice was too similar to an certain trilogy, I hated, for me to find any enjoyment in this story.
Freebie downloaded 2015, shoulda left it on my to-be-read shelf.
Hottest thing I've read in years! Wow. It got better and better with each page. Well paced and well written too. Might be too much for some but for me it was an enormous, much needed turn-on. Many thanks Evelyn for some lovely moments in the pages of your book.

Horribly written barely any story line. The characters were very blah. I understand wanting to write a spicy book but at least make it somewhat believable.
Zoe is fed up with her job as a PA, and she decides she wants to travel the world. In order to do that, she quits in dramatic fashion, demanding severance from her boss and even going so far as to try to blackmail him. But Dawson Alexander isn’t used to being treated like that, and he decides to show Zoe exactly what he’s been doing behind closed doors with all of the women she’s seen come and go.
Dawson opens Zoe’s eyes to a new world of sexual desires, but Zoe needs to decide if she can continue the steamy relationship or if she should move on with her original plan.
If You Dare is a BDSM story and not for the faint of heart. Although it is certainly steamy, there are a lot of things not done right. I’m not an expert on BDSM, but here are my problems with If You Dare:
• At no time does Dawson discuss limits with Zoe. After she bursts into his office and quits, he just starts to play with her without giving her any indication of what he’s going to do. He doesn’t give her a safe word during their first interaction. • Although he does give her a safe word during their second interaction, she actually has to use it. Again, there is no discussion of limits. • The third time they are together, Dawson takes her to a play party without having told her beforehand where they’re going or what to expect. And then he just lets her loose to do whatever. He doesn’t indicate what behavior would be acceptable or unacceptable to him, leaving her wondering at every turn if he has a problem with what she’s doing. • There is never a time in the story where anyone discusses protection, contraception, or diseases. Zoe hooks up with random “new friends” at the play party without having discussed any of this.
I wasn’t in love with the author’s writing style. There was constant use of phrases like “if she was watching she would have seen …” This is totally unnecessary when writing in third person. I also didn’t like that technically Zoe was still working for Dawson while they carried on this relationship, and we come to find out he was using it as a trial period to see if she could handle a more important job. I don’t see how her performance in sexual activities had anything to do with her job performance. That was a total turn-off for me.
The smut factor was high in this book, so if that’s what you’re looking for in a story you might enjoy it. If You Dare didn’t do it for me though. I need a more realistic story to go along with the smut.
Not a romance. Didn't get the impression that the "hero" and "heroine" even really liked each other.
Then I'm supposed to believe that the heroine is okay with being tied up or handcuffed by a man she seems not to like just because he is attractive and then okay with having encounters with strangers at a whim??? WTF!!!
No definitely not romantic. May if the was told from both parties pov and I could have been in his head more to see what he was thinking, but alas that was not the case.
This was a 3.5 star read for me. I liked the characters, but found the storyline very unbelievable, I don't mind the books I read being unbelievable but this was way out there. I like to escape reality by reading but the first time these two got together set my mind against them for the rest of the book. The sex scenes are written well and are incredibly hot.
What a jerk Dawson is and self centered. Zoe is fed up. But being the idiot and control freak he is his method with Zoe will surprise both. He will see she is something to behold
Authors keep pushing books out in this BDSM category as quickly as they can, giving no real thought to anything about what they are writing. Sure, maybe you can write some decent sex scenes, but there is MORE than this involved in a story.
Oh, let me count my initial reactions to this book:
1) Yet another female protagonist that hates her job and her life and has been shit on by men --wow how original. Add to this her reaction to feeling like her life is crap is to go get exceptionally drunk then stumble into her boss' office to tell him that she's going to quit. Again, no originality. Not effective character building.
2) Yet another BDSM loving billionaire who is actually what I'd call a "dick" if I met him in real life. But we're supposed to like him? Why? Because he throws money around to try to keep Zoe out of his life after he screws her in his office --keep in mind, she's sloppy drunk when she walks into the situation yet somehow the authors says she "sobers up" quickly. Please!
3) No intro to BDSM. The boss just decides to take control, put clips on her, etc. She doesn't question anything. Shows no agency. At one point she begs him to take something off of her -- as if she can't reach down and do it herself. Ugh. All too unrealistic.
4) Her severance package is laughable. I get it, he's a billionaire. You don't have to throw that in my face as a reader. I understand the cliche archetype perfectly well.
5) He says he never wants to see her again. Predictably, that's exactly where she goes back to.
6) No real character interaction. The author just needs to get them into a room so they can remove their clothing again. No real plot to drive that other than Zoe is "feeling bad" about the way the first encounter went down. (And here I am wondering why Mr. Wonderful would sleep with her if she was so drunk she could barely stand up when she came in... oh right... she 'sobered up'.)
7) More sex. Sure, it will get you hot. But there's no story to back anything up. Just to people getting it on. Call me old fashioned, but I'd like a bit of a set up before stories go from 0 to 100 in a matter of a few pages.
8) Bananas. Bananas?
9) Remind author to look up synonyms for slut...
10) Why does Zoe let this guy take control? She wants more sex. That's the only reason I have.
Etc. Etc. Etc......
As you can see, there are plenty of reasons not to enjoy this book. It was free with the hopes that I would buy the next book in the series. No need. I know exactly how this story is going to end from page one. It is exactly like all the other stories out there right now. Forget everything about writing an actual story and just focus on sex -- sorry, that's not a good way to create a realistic story that I care about.
Hey guys! This is a review on the book “If You Dare” Evelyn Troy. I received this book as a freebie from Amazon Kindle. This is the first in the series but it is super short. I finished this book in about three hours although, it could have been shorter if I didn’t need to put it down so often. I can’t guarantee that ever part of the book will be mentioned.
This book is about 24-year old Zoe who works for billionaire CEO Dawson. She’s his secretary and she’s fed up with that job. BDSM is present in this book.
We are promised a novel but it feels more like a short story. It only has eight chapters and spans about two weeks. Since the book was so short, there wasn’t much detail present. This book is literally focused on the sex aspect and while there is nothing wrong with that, if the author expects us to believe in any drama present in this book, she has to give more details than sex. Especially since technically they never have vaginal-to-penis sex until the very last sex scene.
I gave this book a two out of five stars. It wasn’t terrible but it wasn’t the best book. I am definitely not interested in reading the second book unless it is also free.
I feel a little bit like I am straddling the fence with this book. (Not in a kinky way!)
I am always amazed at how an author describes the main characters reactions. This author describes things the opposite way to how I would react, hence making them somewhat unbelievable. How did she know she was safe? It's basically a rape scenario that she completely accepts at the start!
Also, side-note: reading this in work felt a but inappropriate at times.
At first I felt the author was a bit disconnected with the description of the lesbian interactions and sexual play. The encounters with Dawson were always heated. The female encounters were lacking a little for me personally. The soft supple skin of a female breast is to be described well!!
I did also feel however, that the surroundings could have been described better.
By the time I had read 80% of the book, I realised that some of it was acceptably written sex but not BDSM.
I really enjoyed this story. It’s so hot and really intense! Though I didn’t understand why Dawson never until the end.
I liked the writing style and the story around the kinky stuff. It was never boring and despite all those hot scenes, it didn’t feel like just reading porn. I found it rather hot when Zoe went to the function never joined her and didn’t really talk to her, which felt weird.
I loved the ending. It was a little bit predictable but sweet nonetheless.
I will most likely buy the next book. I hope it’s as good as this one or even better. Hopefully longer! =)
Zoe's boss Dawson is a dominant. She wants to move up in the company as she feels she does more than expected and is worth something to the company. Zoe shows up at the office after hours and Dawson and Zoe get it on. The story unfolds and Zoe ends up getting what she wants. I felt this story could've had more. Of course it's no Fifty Shades of Grey and Christian Grey, but seriously. I felt some of the words were to upfront should we say. Every time I read them I cringed. The words could have been better chosen. They are somewhat derogatory I thought. It was a good 2 hour fast paced read, but this could have had more. The storyline was pretty good though and different.
At first I was mad at this story. The two characters bond was building in a weird way. Than the character decides to get up and leave. You feel this weird shock, but the end wraps it up well. Overview. Zoe is a personal assistant. She goes to work and goes home. Same boring thing over and over. She decides to quit her job, but her boss was too busy to see her that day. So she leaves work and gets drunk and close by bar. She feels brave enough to confront her boss, but her boss turn the tables on her. Her boss, Dawson, notices some sub issues with zoe and decides to put her to the test. But soon he finds himself under her spell while some sees him in different lights. Kristy dean
Relating to Zoe was easy being a female with some work experiences where I trained a number of young men to take positions over me and felt so much in a dead end job working for some ass. Her solution was way out there and Dawson's reaction was somewhat of a surprise. He was watchful and careful of her when he was punishing her and let her explore new aspects of her sexuality, which she needed. I loved the ending, although it did open up the possibility for another book about these two without being a cliffhanger. Yeah! Dawson understood the part of Zoe's personality he triggered with 'If You Dare' challenges.
It's a naughty little number for sure. If you are looking for a quick thrill then this is the book for you, it had it all s-e-x, dominance, office fun, and all things kinky. It doesn't really have much of a story to it, being that you don't get any intimate details on the characters but that was to be expected with a short read. But I all I found it, sweet, sassy, a little funny and a whole lot sexy!
This book also is about BDSM so this fits with our current challenge theme. This girl, Zoe is a submissive but is a strong minded girl. Just because you are a submissive or just enjoy the scene does not mean you could not be a Dominant in other parts of your life. I really liked that. Some of the BDSM scenes were painful for me (paper clips and bulldog clips are now a scary items if I ever see them again) but I enjoyed the scenes, very very erotic. I would highly recommend this book.
Quick read about exploring your sexual desires that you didn't know you had. Enjoyed this quick read Zoe stood up for herself at a job she felt like she was ill suited for. Glorified coffee girl.
Her boss Dawson a closet Dom pulls her into a sexcapade she never knew she wanted.
I enjoy books that seem like they could play out in a real life setting and I just couldn't see this book taking place. I just feel that the sequence of events could never happen in the real world. Ending felt rushed.
I'm also not a fan of where the woman is called "slut", to me that's not a sexy word.
Short but good book, I would say ''other'' version of 50SoG, but it doesn't make it worse. Different view, different characters. For me all story was a little too fast and ended as soon as started. I am looking forward to read other parts, but for now I prefer spend money on other books. This book is good for some holiday night reading. I liked it.
1. PREDICTABLE! I could literally give the book to somebody, tell them to read five pages, tell me what happens in two and I correctly guess the next three. These cliche books are driving me crazy.
2. Didn't we already read this? It sounds vaguely familiar. Fifty shades of gray familiar?
Overall, lazy storyline.
