Cool concept. Unrefined writing

It’s a neat concept for a book even if it does wear its inspirations in the open. I really wanted to love it but I would say that the ambition outstripped the skill on this one.

The characters and dialog are amateurish and there is no earned development for anyone. Each character starts out as one flat personality and then it flips to another, equally flat personality without any real development.

A similar problem exists with the world building. It’s shallow at best and feels like a lot of it got cut out without being replaced. It leaves the world feeling more like a set than a true world.

My final point, and one I think all KU authors need to remember is that it’s not a failure to hire an editor. Multiple instances of incorrect word choice, poorly structured sentences and typos are found throughout the book. The most egregious though is the name switching. At one point early on the protagonist Ren is, for a single sentence, called David. Later during the fight against the “bully” Ray, there are 3 paragraphs of combat where he is referred to as Jay. It’s okay to let other people read your book before you hit publish. If you paid someone to edit this, get your money back.

All in all, I look forward to the next one because I see a ton of potential but it’s a far cry from ready for prime time.

Pass

I would think this was AI written because it is so bad except the author forgets the names of characters several times and the absolutely stupid use of the word afterburner. The repeated use of the word afterburner actually got me angry. Not one afterburner was shown in the book, the author simply doesn't know what an afterburner is.

Just a note, this is not litrpg. Showing a table 3 times in 600 some pages does not make your book litrpg.

I found this book to be only average. I never felt any connection to the MC, or any of the LI's introduced during it.

The MC is a teenaged boy living on the remains of Earth after a machine invasion destroyed most human life on the planet. He wakes up after some sort of battle where "Blade Angel" recruits from a ship that I guess orbits Earth show up to try things out. The last thing the MC remembers before they show up was his mother knocking him out and leaving him in a cave of sorts. Since his mother taught him to loathe Blade Angels, the first meeting goes poorly. Then the "Derelicts", or the machine creatures, show up and attack his enclave of Earthbound humans. The Blade Angel recruits help some, and he's eventually taken to their ship.

The main LI for this book hates "enclavers" like the boy due to her own mother's brainwashing that they are unworthy and should be abandoned. Outside of having big boobs, there isn't anything about her that the MC should be twisting himself up over to like despite his teachings. But he does, because of the magic power of big boobs, apparently. Their relationship takes a lot of unnecessary twists and turns due to their bigoted raising, and because they are both immature and have zero dating experience. Honestly, most of their interactions could best be described as "cringe".

The overarching plot of the book was it's only strong point, though with how long it was, it drug out quite a bit. I probably wouldn't have read book 2, but I was away from home when it ended, and I already had the 2nd book downloaded, so I moved on with it.

Just Amazing!

Wow, I loved this book. Regardless of the genre, this book is sooo good. The story is utterly unlike anything else I read. It breathes some new life into this genre. It is expertly written and edited. The characters and world building are done so incredibly well and there is plenty of space for expanding on it for a nice long series. The action scenes and dialogue and romance are also written very realistically. I’ve also read the other series by this author and that one is also just as well written. I highly recommend anything by this author.

Ohh should be fun

Great book period a few minor inconsistencies. But overall a fun read. Annoyingly, a bit of a soft hanger ending. But hopefully the second book will be out sooner and it Won't be an issue. Very interesting setup for the story. An earth broken by a machine swarm. Survivor pockets on the surface and a hidden station in orbit to defend. It also seems that the story slowly becomes litrpg but mostly with machine cores. Eventually, it also seems like a harem book Is in the making, it certainly has a little bit of spice, but it doesn't take away from a good story.

Pretty good except for the lie detector bot

I liked the story universe, the overall plot, and the characters, but the existence of the lie detection bot breaks the story for me. It was funny at first, but if there is a lie detector just hanging around, how can you frame anyone? And all the main characters have mommy issues, with no daddies in the picture at all. Suspension of belief just breaks after one too many incidents. I suggest a bit of a rewrite. Maybe also explain why radio to the colonies is not available. I am waiting for the next book.

Fantastic start to a new series

I just finished this Authors other two book and this one is just as good if not better. Fantastic characters and a crazy story, I'm not super familiar with Nier Automata or the other titles this a based on so I'm sure I'm missing some call backs but it didn't even mater. I loved this book and I look forward to the next one.

New author, I thought it was a great story!

I don’t usually start a series until there are at least three books written but this sounded so interesting that I had to read a little of it. Well, two days later and I was done with the whole thing. One of the better kindle unlimited books that I have read in a long time. It was good enough that I didn’t want to stop.

Fun read! Enjoyable story and good romance

This was a fun story with a lot of action but still room for a really sweet romance.
I'll definitely read book 2 and look into some of the author's other work!
