This is the second book in the Barking Orders series and is told from Roxy the cattle dog’s POV, which made the story such a fun and unique read. It was entertaining from start to finish, with plenty of humour that had me laughing along the way. This is a must read for animal lovers.

This is the second book in the series as Roxy continues her missions. The humor is great. The writing really captures life from the dogs point of view. I recommend this to any dog lover who enjoys a good, relatable laugh.

A continuing tender and humorous look at life from a dog’s view. Suggestions on dealing with humans’ peculiarities. Being useful when humans are in distress (after losing a girlfriend or coming home from a work trip for instance). Milking a mild injury for all the tummy rubs and goodies possible. Having the humility to learn from other dogs and score more treats. Still sweet and still barking mad!

Roxy is back with more enlightenment for human about her never-ending job to keep her human household running smoothly. Roxy is an Australian Cattle Dog who takes her job seriously. Her job is never done, requiring constant vigilance. Each short chapter contains Roxy's sharp observations and her method of dealing with the humans to ward off the chaos that occurs when they think for themselves. The 36 short chapters are here to address human training, progress, and issues and, if you do well, there could be a tail wag and a treat!
The first chapter deals with the morning ritual of waking children. The human parent's gentle, quiet knock is ineffective, as expected, so Roxy uses her professional bark, getting a groan in response. So the full face lick is employed... definitely worked... and Roxy moves on to the next human to be activated. This one mumbles "5 more minutes", but Roxy never negotiates and soon has everyone downstairs and hustling out the door with their backpacks.
Roxy cares about the reader as well, answering all the questions you might have as you learn about your "brilliant" dog who has put so much time into training you. The chapters are short to keep our attention span. But each one is a gem of wisdom that will make our lives far more comfortable... for the dog.

Overview: Roxy wants us to know just who is in charge in her house. It isn't the humans, at least not according to Roxy. How does she run a tight ship? Let's find out.
Likes: If you are a dog person, then you've seen dogs like this one. They are using the more intelligent dogs, those that straddle what I like to think of the 'intimidator' and 'enforcer' class. These are not to be confused with the 'alarms', those fit more of the Dixie Doorbells, small dogs who like to yell at everyone.
Roxy is rather funny, but she takes her job seriously.
Favorite Scene: Let me preface this by saying that cattle dogs have a bad habit of holding grudges. And Roxy had a grudge with the Roomba. There was also the scene where Roxy sprained her foot, so her owner tried to stimulate her mind. He got her a maze bowl. Cattle dogs are one of the smartest dogs you will get. A dog that can learn over 300 different commands and words, will easily outthink the maze bowl. Any of your rather intelligent guarding dogs or working dogs, will be bored with simplistic mind games.
Conclusion: This was a fun book. If you are a dog lover, or if you have a cattle dog, then this book is for you. Enjoy the read.

Barking Orders is pure chaos in the best possible way. Roxy isn’t just a dog, she’s a tiny overconfident military commander trapped inside a cattle dog’s body, and every chapter turns ordinary household moments into full-scale operations, investigations, and international incidents. The humor lands constantly because the narration is so committed to Roxy’s logic. Snowplows become invading monsters, Roombas become criminal rivals, ski lifts are “flying furniture,” and a simple mailbox trip feels like a dangerous expedition. What makes the book work so well is the consistency of Roxy’s personality dramatic, loyal, stubborn, deeply intelligent in her own way, and absolutely convinced she runs the household. The writing is light, fast, cinematic, and genuinely laugh-out-loud funny without ever feeling forced. Underneath all the comedy, there’s also a surprisingly warm emotional layer about family, routines, loyalty, comfort, and the bond between humans and dogs. It’s the kind of book that dog owners will recognize instantly because every ridiculous situation somehow feels true. Charming, addictive, wholesome, and hilarious from beginning to end.

This is the second book in the Barking Orders series I’ve read, and Roxy remains one of the funniest, most delightfully opinionated narrators out there. Barking Orders: More funny adventures of a very opinionated cattle dog picks up right where the first left off—Roxy is back, fully in command, and her humans are still scrambling to keep up with her “system.”
Each chapter feels like a perfectly crafted field report from a dog who takes her responsibilities very seriously, whether she’s enforcing morning routines with military precision, investigating a missing kibble upgrade, or waging her ongoing war against the Roomba. The snowplow standoffs, suspicious squirrels, and tactical snack missions had me laughing out loud.
Roxy’s sharp observations and absolute confidence make every page a joy. If you’ve ever suspected your pet is secretly in charge, this series is a must-read.

I liked this book even more than the first! Every dog owner will find something relatable on almost every page. From the silent communication between dogs and their humans, to the universal hatred of boots, to the very real "dog parent guilt" that comes when a beloved pet gets hurt, the book captures the experience of sharing your life with a dog perfectly.
One of my favorite things about this book is reading Roxy the cattle dogs's thoughts. She clearly has a lot of wisdom to share, and she does so with (professional) humor, charm, and the perspective of a very good girl. Her voice brings warmth and personality to the story, making it both entertaining and heartfelt.
Overall, this is a delightful read that dog lovers will appreciate even more than the first installment. It's funny, relatable, and full of canine wisdom.

This was the second book in this little set detailing how Roxy, the cattle dog, maintained control of her domain. Her humans definitely tried her patience at times but ultimately, she (mostly) prevailed.
Both books in this series are so cute! I love that it appeared to be written by Roxy herself in the form of a diary of sorts and often she became quite exasperated which was hilarious. Not only is she presented as the author and in her ‘voice’ but it stayed consistent and didn’t accidentally switch back and forth between Roxy and the REAL author and that gave it a silly sort of credibility. Several times as I read I’d crack up, relating something Roxy did to my own goofy little pups and that just made it that much more fun to read… and they’re not even cattle dogs! No matter the breed, dog owners of every sort are gonna find similarities to their fur babies so grab it today! 4.25 stars.

This is even better than the first part. I absolutely loved Roxy's take on house management and all the people involved. I do have to say I was absolutely heartbroken when the girlfriend left the stage, naturally mainly for the son, but also hugely for Roxy. We don't realise how much our human relationships affect our furry friends (not pets, never pets).
One thing is for sure, it's a must-read for all the dog owners and those who are yet to make up their mind regarding the four legged creature in their home. It's hilarious. I read fragments aloud to my husband and he not only listened, but actually enjoyed Roxy's adventures. Highly recommended and waiting for the next part.

I had fun following every moment, especially the way the narrator’s sharp observations turn ordinary situations into playful chaos. The tone stays warm and humorous throughout, with small details that make the dog’s personality shine in every scene. The stories move with an easy rhythm and offer a mix of mischief, affection and clever canine logic that feels both charming and familiar. It is the kind of book that lifts your mood and leaves you smiling.

Family life from the dog’s POV
Barking orders" is a fun, clever book of family life ... but resented from the point of view of Roxy, the family's "personality-plus." Australian Cattle dog.
Roxy's interactions with the family's three children, especially helping them wake up for school in the early morning were particularly. enjiyable. Good, clean fun for the whole family, especially kids in that uncomfortable "in-beteen" age, i.e. too old for picture books and not quite mature enough yet for James Patterson.

This is the second book in a series. The story is told by Roxy, a feisty female style Dog. Roxy has a strict set of rules that identify behavioral norms for her family. She has to battlle challenges from various family members, neighborhood squirrels, falling leaves, snowfall, and ice. She even took on a snowplow.

I smiled & laughed as much while reading this book as I did the first book. This is a funny diary from a dogs point of view & I could picture my dog thinking like this cuz like Roxy, he is also the Supreme Overlord of Walks, Snacks & Moral Superiority. Very entertaining book of short chapters told from the Viewpoint of a cattle dog. There are so many laughable moments in entertaining stories that keep you reading more and more. Following the main character through their adventures is a good time. Good read.
