For her, love wasn’t supposed to end like this. It wasn’t supposed to leave behind silence, unanswered questions, and a heaviness she can’t outrun. But as she tries to piece herself back together, she’s forced to confront the some damage doesn’t disappear… it changes you.
And sometimes, the hardest part isn’t letting go,
it’s learning who you are after.
The Shape of Damage is a deeply emotional story about love, loss, and the quiet, complicated process of becoming whole again.
This book broke my heart more than once. Seeri is going through a rough time and when she finds refuge and love with Eric, she feels happiness coming back to her life.
This is a very good book for YA. It grabs you from the beginning and shows you what young people go through with dealing trauma. It is not my normal read but I found it to be very interesting.
Young Adult coming of age romance. This book takes you through the grief, heartbreak, love and healing of a young female and her journey to early adulthood. Great read!
I was completely touched by the book. It was so raw and emotional. I couldn't even imagine losing both of my parents like that, but my parents are gone, but not horricly like her parents went. And she had to try to navigate the rest of her life at such a young age. LOVED this story
Not my typical read, but figured I'd give it a go. I was unprepared for the emotions wrung out of me. This one had me all in my feelings. I tiptoed upstairs to silently kiss each teen on the forehead before I could go to sleep for the night. A really great read.
The Shape of Damage completely pulled me in and didn’t let go. Megan Geyer writes with such emotional depth and honesty—it feels intimate, almost like you’re living inside the character’s thoughts. The way the story unfolds is both heartbreaking and beautiful, capturing the complexity of pain and healing in such a real way.
This is the kind of book that leaves you thinking long after the last page. It’s not just a story—it’s an experience.
This book is beautifully written and deeply moving. It captures the kind of heartbreak that isn’t loud or dramatic, but slow and lingering. The way the author explores identity after loss felt so real and human. It’s not just about grief it’s about rebuilding yourself when everything you thought was certain is gone.
I feel for her. Seeri’s grief feels so real and heavy, and the way she tries to hold herself together after losing everything is heartbreaking. I loved that the story didn’t try to make healing look easy or perfect. It felt honest, messy, emotional, and very human. If you like YA books that make you feel deeply connected to the character, this one will definitely hit you.
This isn't my normal read, but I could not put it down! It didn't end the way I thought it was going to, but I'm so glad. It ended way better. I haven't dealt with the same things as Seeri, but I was a teenager once with the thought that "he would be my happy ending". She handled everything she's been given so well. This was such a good read!

A good read filled with raw emotions from what happens to the main character. I am not one to leave spoilers but you can feel what the character is going through as she goes through it. The author did a great job, first read by this author and glad I did.
Well written story of a young woman dealing with the trauma of loss, falling in love with someone she thought was her destiny only to have her world turned upside down.
A breathtakingly honest look at loss and survival. Megan Geyer has a gift for crafting complex, deeply relatable characters that you can't help but root for. The pacing was perfect, the emotional stakes were high, and the execution was flawless. Would recommend to all!
Another book that I totally devoured and couldn't stop reading. I cried for her and them, and I loved her story and her relationship. I've told the author repeatedly how much I love this book. 20/10
