Vow or Never was a cute, second chance romance. I’m happy that Everly and Reese found their “happily everly after” ❤️ I didn’t really like that the whole book was about planning the wedding between Everly and Carter, while the relationship between her and Reese was growing. I am happy though that there was *no* cheating that actually happened. Just it felt icky at times that we are watching Everly and Reese flirt a lot and obviously get close while she’s still engaged to Carter. Also, I wish there was more of a resolution for Mrs. Jacob’s meddling.

I wasn’t a huge fan of multiple POVs in a single chapter. Especially when it went from just the main characters to also including secondary character POVs. It felt very disjointed because of that.

I’d have to say this book gets 3.5 stars from me ❤️ I am very grateful that the author, Danielle Dexter, send me an ARC of this book!

If you love contemporary romances that are packed with high-stakes tension, complex choices, and the absolute chaos of a life plan completely unraveling, Vow or Never by Daniele Dexter is going to totally consume you.

The setup hooks you from the very first page: Everly shares a single, intense, no-strings night with a guy named Reese, only for him to vanish the next morning. Fast forward eighteen months, and she is trying to do everything right; she is engaged to a stable, incredibly sweet man named Carter and is deep in the middle of wedding planning. But her orderly life is completely thrown into a tailspin when she arrives at her first vendor appointment and finds out that Reese, the exact same guy from her unforgettable one-night stand, is part of the wedding team. Even worse? His specific job is to help write her wedding vows to another man.

The emotional push-and-pull between Everly and Reese is intense. Reese has that perfect blend of a confident exterior hiding a genuinely soft center, and the unresolved "what-if" tension between them makes every shared look and conversation feel loaded.

What makes this book stand out is how it handles a potentially messy situation with maturity. Carter is not written as a villain or a token bad boyfriend just to make Reese look better; he is dependable and genuinely loves Everly. Watching her navigate those complicated feelings as she tries to figure out the difference between a safe love and the right love feels incredibly real and grounded. To keep things from getting too heavy, the banter from the supporting characters, especially the hilariously chaotic Kenny and Everly's loyal best friend, Morgan, brings a fantastic amount of humor and lighthearted energy to the story.

The multi-POV shifts can occasionally feel a little clunky, but the addictive pacing and the emotional payoff at the end more than make up for it. It is a sweet, beautifully complicated story about what happens when love shows up at the absolute worst possible moment.

Tropes to expect:
• 🥂 One-Night Stand to Second Chance
• 🤫 Forced Proximity & Wedding Chaos
• 🏛️ "Right Person, Wrong Time" Vibes
• 🗣️ Multi-POV Banter
• 💚 Green Flag Fiancé vs. Tattooed Vow-Writer

Huge, thank you to Danielle Dexter for providing me with my ARC of this book! These opinions are my own

So I was lucky enough to receive a copy of Vow orNever by Danielle Dexter as an early copy and I absolutely loved it. This is my second book by her and she did not disappoint. I definitely will be reading more from her she never disappoints!

Vow Or Never is about Everly and Reese who meet one night at this literary bar bookstore. Everly was stood up by her date and so she was just planning to have a drink and go home until she makes eye contact with Reese across the bar. They end up drinking and getting a feel for each other and they decide to go home together for a one night stand. Everly says she doesn’t want there to be an e change of phone numbers last names or anything like that. After they managed to sleep together, they stay up talking through the night until they fall asleep. Reese wakes up for Everly does and decides that he is going to just takeoff before things messy and people get hurt and then he starts debating with himself whether he really wants to leave or not. Then he thinks about leaving a note but then changes his mind about that as well at last minute and thinks it’s just best that they leave it at that one night stand. When Everly wakes up, she’s expecting Reese to be there after the conversation that they had she thought she made it clear that she wanted him to stay. So sadly, Everly has to move on with her life, which is where she reaches back out to Carter, which was the person that stood her up that same night and they ended up getting engaged the following year. Little does Everly know she will run into Reese again very soon and he will be writing her wedding vows to Carter, her future husband.

Okay… I did not expect to fall this hard for this book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vow or Never is EVERYTHING I want in a romcom—funny, chaotic, emotional, and the kind of chemistry that has you kicking your feet and whisper-yelling at your Kindle at 2am.

The premise alone hooked me (one-night mistake ➝ now he’s part of the wedding team?? say less), but what really got me was the tension. Like… the kind where every interaction feels loaded, and you’re just WAITING for something to snap.

Reese??? I’m unwell.
Confident, a little cocky, but also unexpectedly soft in the moments that matter?? Sir. Please.

And Everly is exactly the kind of heroine I love—put together on the outside, slightly spiraling on the inside, and trying so hard to keep everything (and everyone) under control… including him.

The banter is sharp.
The pacing is addictive.
The emotional payoff??? Worth it.

Also—this book gets something so right: sometimes love doesn’t show up the way you planned it. Sometimes it shows up inconveniently, messily, and completely at the wrong time… and still ends up being exactly what you needed.

If you love:
- one-night mistake
- forced proximity
-wedding chaos
-tension that borders on illegal

READ THIS.

Immediately.

I’m already obsessed and need more from this world like yesterday.

This was a cute second-chance romance that I really wanted to fully love, but it ended up being more of a mixed read for me 💛
Everly and Reese’s story had such a strong emotional core, and I did enjoy seeing their connection slowly resurface. The chemistry and banter between them were genuinely fun, and there were moments that made me smile (and a few swoony ones too 😭✨). Reese especially had some really heartfelt lines that stood out.
However, the engagement-to-another-person setup while Everly reconnects with Reese didn’t fully work for me. Even without cheating, the situation sometimes felt uncomfortable, especially with how close she and Reese were getting while she was still planning a wedding with Carter.
I also struggled a bit with the multiple POV structure. The shifts between main and secondary characters within chapters felt a little disjointed at times and pulled me out of the story instead of enhancing it.
There were definitely enjoyable parts—fun side characters, sweet romance beats, and a light, easy tone—but overall the execution felt a bit uneven in pacing and structure for me.
✨ what to expect ✨
💍 Second-chance romance
💔 Engagement-to-ex conflict
💬 Banter & emotional moments
👀 Multiple POV (including side characters)
💛 Lighthearted contemporary vibe
📖 Found family / side character presence
Overall: a cute read with some sweet moments, but the structure and pacing didn’t fully work for me 🤍

"Every love story starts with a yes. Not everyone ends there..."

This was a cute, slightly messy take on love. It explores what love is, what it isn’t, and what happens when timing doesn’t cooperate.

After Reese disappears following what Everly thought was an unforgettable one-night stand, she moves on, as most people would.
She meets Carter Jacobs, the safe and stable choice. He would quite literally move heaven and earth for her. On paper, he’s everything.

Then, Reese walks back in. Not just anywhere, but into her wedding planning process. Of course he does. From there, the story dives into forced proximity, unresolved feelings, and a lot of emotional back-and-forth. Both Everly and Reese must confront what that one night actually meant and whether it was ever just that.

"Love is unconditional, so if he makes you happy, all I can do is be happy for you too."

This story reminded me of The Wedding Planner, one of my favorite movies, but with a bit more emotional depth added. The “what if” tension between Everly and Reese was somewhat predictable. Still, if you’re a reader who enjoys soft, emotional romance as I do, you will love it anyway.

Overall, I enjoyed the journey this story took me on.

Thank you, Danielle Dexter, for providing me with this arc in exchange for my honest review

First off - thank you Danielle Dexter for the ARC - I am so thrilled to have read Everly’s and Reese’s story!!

Overall, it’s a cute read. And you should add it to your TBR for some lighthearted palate cleansing cuteness.

The banter made me laugh out loud and smile. Kenny was such a fun character, I absolutely adored him!! All of the characters provided a wonderful balance to the overall story, including the overbearing future mother-in-law. The overall story was good and I genuinely loved the main characters. The words that Reese uses in everything he writes about Everly, from the vows to the manuscript to the note he never left after their amazing night, is every woman’s dream. *Swoon*

With all those things said, the change from single POV per chapter to multiple POVs in a single chapter made it confusing at times. Especially when it bounced back and forth and added additional characters POVs. I love multiple POV books but this felt clunky. Especially when the mid-chapter POV changes didn’t line up.

At times the book felt intentionally slowed down to incorporate as much detail as possible, and then rushed to get through the detail which contributed to some confusion. Which took me out of the story and loving it more.

Phenomenal! Infinity stars!!!! Words can not explain how much I loved this book. I couldn’t book this book down. My Mind body and soul refused to put it down!!! A one night stand that was supposed to mean nothing but meant everything. He kept the note that never made it to her, that he was never suppose to write. And she kept his tie. 18 months later he’s planner her wedding… this book was too good for its own good. I loved the way it went back and forth in each chapter of the characters pov and it wasn’t just one sided. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve read a book with dual pov and wish I could see the one scene from the other’s point of view. It was simply perfect. I do hope Carter finds his HEA and maybe a book for Morgan because I feel like that one would be a fun one. I don’t want this to be the end of Everly and Reese. I need more even if it’s just little appearances in someone else’s book. I just loved them… it was a nail biting , sitting in the edge of my seat, holding my breath and couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to read what happens next. Seriously you need to read this book!

Hi lovely readers!

I wanted to leave a little note here—not just as the author, but as someone who lived inside this story for a long time.

Vow or Never is, at its heart, about messy beginnings—the kind that don’t look like love at first, the kind that feel inconvenient, complicated… even a little reckless.

Everly is someone who thrives on control. Plans, timelines, perfect outcomes.
Reese is… not that.

And I think what makes their story special isn’t just the chemistry (though let’s be honest… it’s there!), but the way they challenge each other to step outside the versions of themselves they thought they had to be.

This book is for anyone who has ever:
- Made a decision they didn’t expect to matter
- Met someone at the wrong time… or the wrong way
- Tried to stay in control while everything unraveled anyway
- Realized love doesn’t always arrive the way you planned

If you lean into the chaos a little… I think you’ll feel exactly what they’re feeling.
Thank you for giving these characters a chance and for being part of their story. It truly means everything to me.

XOXO

I liked this story! Everly and Reese met and had a one night stand, but could never get each other out of their minds. (I loved his happily Everly after joke) When they meet again, only for Evelyn to be engaged to someone else, their attraction is hard to ignore. I loved the banter between the two MCs. They had so much chemistry together! I also loved the dual povs, so we could really see the care and feelings they truly had for each other. The first dance scene was so sweet, and yet so sad.

The biggest issue I had was how much they flirted and longed for each other while Everly was still engaged. Thank goodness they never cheated because I wouldn’t have finished it. I felt so bad for Carter, who I really liked. I’m hoping he gets his own book after this! But I did love how this romcom style writing focused on feelings and emotions more than actual romance. This was a 3.5 star book to me, but I really enjoyed the author’s writing style. I would definitely read more books by them!

⭐️⭐️⭐️☆☆

Vow or Never was an easy read, but for me it felt way too predictable from the beginning. The whole storyline gave major Sweet Home Alabama vibes: small-town history, old flames, unresolved feelings, and the inevitable emotional pull back to “the one that got away.” If you like that kind of trope-heavy romance, you’ll probably enjoy it more than I did.

What kept me from rating it higher was how unrealistic some of the emotional reactions felt. We’re supposed to believe a man loses the woman he loves to another guy and just… handles it with minimal anger or resentment? That didn’t feel authentic to me at all. The emotional conflict felt watered down when it could’ve added real depth to the story.

The chemistry was there, and it was still entertaining enough to finish, but nothing surprised me. Overall, not terrible it was just very safe, very predictable, and missing the messy realism that would’ve made the relationships feel believable.

Second chance, miscommunication
I really struggled with how to summarize and rate this book. It seems like it would be a Romance book, but it is not. It is written as a classic 90s/2000s Rom-Com though. It has all the same elements as those types of movies. I didn't find that it played like a movie in my head though, it definitely still seemed more like a book. Some parts and characters were extremely frustrating (even the ones that were on the FMC/MMCs teams) and other characters I found myself rooting for, even knowing that they aren't one of the two main characters. There was a lot of references within the book about this book that were interesting to see the obvious parallels that the author put in there.
If youre a fan of romantic comedies (little to no actual romance/physical affection), grand gestures, reconciliation, and everyone finding their Happily Ever(ly) After, then this is the book for you.

I absolutely loved this story and it had a unique feature that I haven't (personally) seen outside of why choose...4 person POV, primarily 2 person. While most of the story was told from Everly and Reese's POV, there were also parts of the story seen from their friends and fiancées POV and it gave much appreciated insight into the story and how it plays out.
I love that so many things came back to books and reading. It was fun, enjoyable, and completely relatable!

The tension between Everly and Reese was 🔥
While fighting their attraction to each other and ignoring their shared history, they attempt to plan Everly's wedding together, as he is part of the wedding planners' team.

Everly never knew her one night stand would come back to haunt her. What will happen when 18 months later she sees him again and he is part of her wedding planning team?

Vow or Never by Danielle Dexter was a heartfelt contemporary romance that left me kicking my feet an giggling as I read. In this novel, we get to meet our lovely FMC Everly Hart and her fiancé Carter Jacobs as they attempt to plan the perfect magazine worthy wedding. Along the way, during a wedding planning meeting, Everly is surprised to see Reese Myers, our aloof MMC who does not believe in love. One of the things I really enjoyed about this book is how Danielle was able to write such an engaging story that made the characters feel authentic and relatable. Overall, Vow or Never was an emotionally satisfying read that offered a compelling mix of tension and romance that kept hooked!

I received an ARC copy from the author herself. Thank you so much for giving me a chance to read and voluntarily review this novel!

Vow or Never

⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you Danielle Dexter for the eARC!

This was such a cute quick read. Following Everly and Reese on their second chance, love at first sight romance. I really enjoyed this story. Especially the bookish remarks throughout. My favorite quote has got to have been

"I was DNF’d before my date even got past my cover (my online dating picture, that is)."

I was cackling and loving the bookish language throughout the novel. The premise of the book being a one night stand that was supposed to mean nothing turning into a complicated, messy, emotionally charged whirlwind as they reconnect as vow writer and bride to be as surprising and entertaining. It was a severe slow burn romance and I tend to love more spice, darkness and chaos in my 5 star reads. This one was just a bit too predictable but equally entertaining and cute.

I received an ARC copy of Vow or Never by Danielle Dexter and would like to thank the author for it. This is my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it.

The story follows Everly Hart, who is engaged and planning her wedding to the “perfect” fiancé, until she unexpectedly comes face to face with Reese—the man from her one-night stand 18 months ago. Now he’s back in her life and involved in her wedding plans, which brings up old feelings and a lot of emotional tension.

I really liked the chemistry between the characters and the emotional push-and-pull throughout the story. The forced proximity and wedding setting made everything feel more intense and engaging.

Overall, it was an emotional and addictive romance that kept me hooked. I’d definitely read more from Danielle Dexter.

When your life turns upside down because the one that got away turns up at the wrong time…Everly is about to say “I do” to a seemingly perfect man, except she can’t get her one night stand out of her head. Things get complicated when Reese turns out to be the one that will help them write their vows. The tension was so thick—they both had respect and restraint needed to carefully navigate their strong chemistry and feelings lingering from the first night they connected…I’m so glad that Everly and Reese figured things out before truly hurting others involved. Such a unique take on “the right one, wrong time” trope, showcasing how that love is complicated and messy but strong too.

A chance meeting at a bar, sparks fly and turn into a night of passion. Reese never believed in love so when he meets Everly at a bar and she suggests they go back to her place no strings no names no expectations he agrees. But when morning comes he wants to stay but walks away . A year and a half later she’s getting married and he’s hired to write hers and her fiancé vows. Neither of them has forgotten that night and as the wedding day approaches will she walk down the aisle or will she risk it all on a chance at Happily Everly After . This book had me enthralled from the first page to the last. If you believe that everyone deserves that one person and you should never settle for less then you want to read Vow or Never.

Everly, who has a passionate one-night stand with a man named Reese, only for him to disappear the next morning. Eighteen months later, she’s happily engaged to the kind and dependable Carter, but her world is turned upside down when Reese unexpectedly becomes part of her wedding as the Vow writer. Reese has to help Everly write vows for another man. As old feelings stir up, Everly is forced to confront the difference between choosing the safe, comfortable Carter and the undeniable connection she still feels with Reese. Filled with emotional tension, humor and chaos, the story explores how love can arrive at the worst possible time and asks whether the right love is always the easiest choice.

I truly enjoyed reading this book. It served as a delightful palate cleanser. If you are seeking a charming and swift read, I believe this would be an excellent choice for you.

She’s about to say “I do.” He’s about to ruin everything.
Eighteen months ago, Everly Hart had a one-night stand with the hottest guy she’s ever been with. ( Reese) 😉
I hope everyone gets a Happily Ever After just not the MIL.
Morgan is definitely a best friend you want by your side. Loyal. Honest.

I received this as an ARC

Everly and Reese met at a bar. 18 months after their one-night stand they meet again and he is being hired to write her wedding vows. I looked this up - apparently people actually do this.

I enjoyed their chemistry and I liked Everly but she has no sense of self-worth and lets her fiancés mother dictate everything.

The spice is a single scene at the beginning, which is then referenced over and over again. And even so, it’s pretty mild. Like 1/5. Overall I felt the book was too long and drawn out which is why I would give it 3.5/5 stars. We know they’re going to end up together, why do we have to wait until the morning of the wedding?

If you love insta-love this might be the book for you! This is a light, second chance, forced proximity romance. It's first person, multi-pov and has 1 spicy scene in the beginning (which sticks with Everly and Reese throughout the book). I enjoyed the plot but didn't feel very connected to the characters. It could make a good palette cleanser read! I appreciate that all the characters seemed to respect each other (I actually preferred Carter for most of the book). And while Everly loves Carter, she isn't IN love with him.

I received this as an ARC.

I absolutely loved this one. It was so well written and I couldn't put it down. It was really enjoyable and I kept wanting to go back to it when I had to put it down.
Everly was such a sweet character and I really enjoyed reading her point of view.
Reese's character growth was enjoyable to follow. I like how he had the hard exterior and was soft on the inside.
You could see how well Everly and Reese fit together. I enjoyed the tension. I quite enjoyed the ending and their relationship.
I usually don't enjoy the miscommunication trope but this one was definitely an exception for me. It was well worth the read.

They definitely got their Happily Everly After!

This book was absolutely adorable! I love the full circle moment at the ending. Our main character meets the love of her life and doesn’t realize it until it’s almost too late. I’m very very happy with her being able to realize she was going to mess her life up and having the ability to change that. She was settling for a man that constantly canceled and put her on the back burner and expected her to cancel her life for him. I’m glad she finally realized that she was important too and she deserved to find happiness. Overall this was a very cute read and I flew through it!

I have been afraid of romance books because they all started to sound the same, but let me tell you how refreshing this read was!
Chance encounter, missed opportunity, awkward reconnect, forced proximity, love triangle, and a happy ending for EVERYONE?! (Hopefully not for MIL)
I could honestly use a whole book about Reese and Everly with a bonus of having more Morgan and Kenny!
Danielle hit it out of the park with this novel and I truly can’t wait to read another from her!

This one was a fun read.
Great banter, a villianous monster-in-law and all the yearning.

My three favourite things about this book:

- The Last Chapter coffee house and bar. I need this to exist in real life and be my local. I would live there.

- Reese listening to our girl Everly. Truly hearing her. And making sure there were white peonies everywhere.

- Kenny and his intense love of wedding desserts. He needs his own book and a big HEA.

This novel was very well written and I loved every minute of this book and am relieved to hear that it’s book one and another will follow. I’m still trying to come back to reality after just finishing this book. It was so romantic and sweet and I find myself yearning for that kind of love. I am anticipating the next book to see where the story goes!!!!
