After Hours by Evelyn Leigh is a spicy anthology featuring five interconnected Black romances set inside an exclusive kink club where consent, communication, and exploration take center stage.
Each story offers a different dynamic and emotional journey, from self-discovery and praise kink to second chances at pleasure and relationships that challenge personal boundaries. What I appreciated most was how every romance felt distinct while still contributing to the atmosphere and allure of Lilith's Lounge.
The setting itself almost feels like a character, creating the perfect backdrop for stories that are both sensual and character-driven. Leigh balances heat with heart, giving readers characters worth rooting for alongside plenty of tension and chemistry.
My personal favorites were Aim to Please and Invitation Only, but every story brought something unique to the collection.
If you enjoy Black romance, interconnected anthologies, and stories that celebrate desire, trust, and self-discovery, After Hours is definitely worth picking up.

Evelyn gives you 5 short stories all centered around the infamous Kink Club, Lilith’s Lounge. In these 5 stories, we get to take a peek into 5 different sexy AF couples, all exploring their own individual wants and desires.

This book had me HOT!!!! The representation was excellent, the dynamics were handled with respect, safety and care, and now I want to be a member of this club! Like where do I sign up??? If you’re looking for a cute black rom-com, this isn’t it. But if you’re looking for some spice and wanting to expand your horizons, this is absolutely the book for you!!

Someone play Oooh by Kehlani real loud! That’s all I was thinking bout while being Taken thru dere in each story.
The validation of each character’s sexuality and kink exploration made me feel so seen especially as a bisexual woman
who hasn’t had the chance to be involved with women or female presenting individuals yet it felt so reassuring. I think that also seeing black people being loved on no strings attached warmed my heart

I've never read a romance anthology before. I think I'm a bit addicted to long stories so I wasn't sure what to expect with this but going in I knew two things for sure:

1. Evelyn Leigh throws her whole authussy into everything she writes.
2. Evelyn Leigh has never led me astray lol.

When I read Free Roam in February, I was hoping Evelyn Leigh would give me more of these characters, and this anthology definitely wasn't what I expected, but I absolutely LOVED it! I love the diversity of the stories; the characters made me fall in love with them immediately, and I enjoyed this book and the sensuality of each novel even more.

Free Roam Raquel & Vik 4.5⭐

Rae & Vik have a beautiful, sizzling chemistry that left me wanting more of them because they're amazing together! I LOVED Vik's personality and the confidence her character exudes, I enjoyed reading her approaching Rae at the club, and the way she flirted with her made me love her even more.

I really enjoyed Evelyn's introduction to Rae, how she made me love her so quickly and fall for her shy personality because it made me appreciate the different side she showed when she was with Vik even more.

Aim to Please Madame Xyla & Cassius 4⭐

I need to start by saying that I LOVED the little nods in this story to other characters by the author. I loved that Cassius's job gives him the need to feel dominated in order to be in control and the reasons for his nervousness about seeing Madame X after so long. She's a queen, and I love that she's the dominant one in this dynamic, I also enjoyed the context that Evelyn gave me for this character and how understanding she is with Cassius.

Handle with Care Emerald & Rodney 5⭐

This was my favorite of all the short stories: and I think it has a lot to do with the fact that it's the longest of them all so Evelyn gave me a much clearer picture of who the characters are, of their attraction to each other, and a tension that, while not explicitly shown on the pages of this story, is definitely felt thanks to how well it's written.

I LOVED Rodney from beginning to end. He's my favorite character in the book because he's the most seductive, sensual, and charming, I love his obsession with Emerald, how he takes the opportunity to get close to her, and especially how he gives her a safe space to explore and find the pleasure she seeks.

Emerald was amazing! I loved learning a bit about her past at the club and how, despite seeming shy and reserved at first, she also has a daring and brave side that leads her to flirt with Rodney in the most fun ways.

This was my second favorite story! I loved the context behind Amir & Savvy's marriage because it's clear they're perfect for each other and madly in love, I LOVE the way they celebrate their anniversaries too, how free they are with each other, and how clear it is that they're always each other's safe haven. I also enjoyed how sensual these two are and how well they connect with Nova. It's definitely one of the stories I'd like to read more of.

Esta fue mi favorita de todas las historias cortas: y creo que tiene mucho que ver con que es la más extensa de todas así que Evelyn me dio una imagen mucho más clara de quienes son los personajes, de su atracción por el otro y una tensión que, si bien no se ve en las páginas de esta historia, si se siente gracias a lo bien escrita que está.

After Hours by Evelyn Leigh was exactly what I needed. Every story gave me something different, but what they all had in common was chemistry, spice, and characters that had me wishing these stories were longer.

Free Roam introduced me to Rae and Vik, and whew, Vik had game! I absolutely loved her confidence and the way she pursued Rae. Rae's shy personality immediately won me over, and watching a different side of her emerge whenever she was with Vik made me love them even more as a couple. Their chemistry was effortless, and I definitely needed more pages with these two.

Aim to Please gave me Cassius and Madame Xyla, and I loved how different their dynamic felt. First of all, Madame Xyla is THAT woman. I loved seeing a dominant female lead, and I appreciated how much depth Evelyn gave both characters in such a short amount of time. Cassius's need for control mixed with his desire to surrender made for a really interesting story. Also, the little nods to other characters had me smiling.

Now let's get to my favorite story: Handle with Care. Emerald and Rodney own a piece of my heart. Rodney was hands down my favorite character in this entire anthology. That man was smooth, attentive, patient, and completely obsessed with Emerald. Sign me up immediately. I loved how he created a safe space for her while still encouraging her to explore her desires. Emerald was just as amazing. She seemed quiet at first, but there was a bold and playful side to her that came out around Rodney, and I loved every second of it. The chemistry, the tension, the connection... everything about them worked for me. I could easily read a full novel about these two.

Invitation Only was my second favorite story. Amir, Savvy, and Nova had me completely invested. I loved seeing the foundation of Amir and Savvy's marriage because it was obvious how deeply they loved and trusted one another. The way they welcomed Nova into their dynamic felt natural, emotional, and incredibly sexy. What stood out most was the care, communication, and trust between all three of them. Their connection never felt forced, and I found myself rooting for all of them from beginning to end.

Overall, Evelyn Leigh delivered a collection of stories filled with memorable characters, incredible chemistry, and enough spice to keep me thoroughly entertained. My only complaint is that I wanted more time with every couple. If you enjoy steamy romance, strong character dynamics, and stories that leave you wanting more, After Hours is definitely worth picking up.

After Hours by Evelyn Leigh is an emotionally rich, intensely sexy anthology that explores intimacy, identity, vulnerability, and desire through interconnected stories set inside the exclusive Black-owned kink club, Lilith’s Lounge.

What I appreciated most about this collection was how intentional the representation felt. Evelyn Leigh writes bisexual Black characters with so much care and authenticity. Each story offered a different perspective on bisexuality, self-discovery, relationships, and emotional safety without making any character feel reduced to a stereotype. As a bisexual Black woman myself, I felt genuinely seen and validated throughout this entire anthology.

One of the standout aspects of this book is how openly it addresses the anxiety and self-doubt that can come with navigating bisexuality. There are conversations around feeling “not queer enough,” being judged based on appearance, and struggling to fully take up space within your identity. Those moments hit hard because they felt real. The characters were allowed to be soft, confident, uncertain, dominant, anxious, curious, and deeply desired all at once.

I also loved how consent, communication, and trust remained central to every interaction. Even in the spicier moments, the emotional connection and respect between characters always came first, which made the stories feel even more intimate and meaningful.

Beyond the romance and kink exploration, After Hours is really about freedom. Freedom to explore. Freedom to want more. Freedom to be loved loudly and without shame.

Evelyn Leigh created a space where Black bisexual characters are centered, affirmed, and allowed to experience pleasure and connection in all forms. That alone made this anthology incredibly special to me.

If you enjoy emotionally grounded spicy romance with strong character work, affirming queer representation, and stories that balance heat with heart, After Hours deserves a spot on your TBR.

My goodness. I am always sat for smut, and I mean give me allllll the scenes. But wow. Evelyn truly blew it out of the ballpark with this one. Each and every short story here allowed for so much interpretation in the end. It allowed for freedom in all sense of the word.

Evelyn Leigh delivers every time!! I was extremely excited to get my hands on this anthology, and I did read it all in almost one sitting. Evelyn always puts so much love and care and thoughtfulness into her writing, and her stories always manage to linger with the reader after they finish them.

Here are some of my thoughts about each story:

Free Roam: Rae and Vik are my angels!! I did read this back in December when it was part of the sapphic anthology Evelyn was a part of, and I loved it just as much now as I did then!!! I will always love a story about someone exploring their sexuality, so this was very lovely.

Aim to Please: So, when I saw that Xyla was dominant and Cassius was submissive, I was READY!! I feel like we don’t see this dynamic often in romance (at least not that I’ve seen, but I will be fixing that), so I LOVED this story.

Handle with Care: I love a man obsessed, and Rodney was absolutely enamored by Emerald. He was patient and respected her boundaries (I know that’s the bare minimum), and I ate it up!!

Invitation Only: Definitely my favorite story of all of them. Savannah, Nova, and Amir aare so hot and sexy and lovely, and I kept having to pause reading to squeal about them. I would read a full length novel about any of these characters, but especially these three.

Hands on: So, as I’m reading the ARC, I actually haven’t read this story yet. I won’t have access to it until the book is published, so I will return to give my thoughts after I read it. Just know that I’m veryyyy excited, especially after seeing Desmond lingering around in the background of the other stories.

I really loved how Evelyn left these stories open-ended! I also really loved finding the connections to Evelyn’s other books throughout these stories, and it made me all the more excited for her next book!!

My word Evelyn is filthy, flirting and funny.
I ain’t never in my life considered picking up an anthology but this one here changed the game.
Most times I need more meat to my story but each quick hit gave me exactly what I needed. I even had to stretch the book out not to overdose.

Free Roam- Vik could talk me out my draws. Oooweee that woman is smooth

Aim to Please- made men crave more and put the biggest smile on my face because those characters felt familiar in an unexpected way

Handle with Care- showed Evelyn’s humorous side but wasn’t a thing funny between Rodney and Emerald. That man took his lessons very seriously and she was the star pupil.

Invitation Only- is undoubtedly the hottest story in the book and saved for last for a reason. I feel like I was in that theater watching because that’s how vivid it was. My word. Savannah and Amir passed the ate with their 8th year anniversary. All pun intended!

Every story pulls you deeper into this kink club world, introducing different couples, different dynamics, different desires… and WOW. Evelyn Leigh knows exactly how to make the chemistry feel alive. The tension? Insane. The visuals? So vivid it felt like a movie playing in my head the entire time.

And listen… after reading “Freeform” back in December, I already knew Evelyn could WRITE spice. But this anthology? She took it to another level. Every story was deliciously steamy, seductive, and impossible to stop reading.

Welcome back to Lilith's Lounge! Buckle up because it's about to go down!
After Hours is a collection of 5 short stories that delivers on every single level. It's impossible to choose my favorite story, so please don't ask. On the surface, it is a wild ride. It will have you FERAL. It's spicy & delicious! And it will leave you absolutely salivating (drooling possibly) for more! HA!

It's so much deeper than that, though. Evelyn's intentionality in how she approaches and presents k!nk is very evident. Not only has she written deeply human & relatable characters, but she's actively destigmatizing the taboo that is associated with k!nk exploration. The environment Lila & Desmond have cultivated at Lilith's Lounge allows people to freely and safely explore their deepest desires. There is a focus on healthy communication, education, boundaries, and consent. Every character seeks out the club for different reasons, but they all crave the same thing- to be safe. The dynamics between all of the characters are perfectly balanced.

As for the writing itself? Her prose is beautiful and melodic. Evelyn has a masterful way with words. She creates vivid descriptions that are so smooth and intoxicating. But then she expertly times the banter and has you laughing out loud or clutching your pearls. A magician, I say! And I LOVED the open endings on each story. A traditional HEA would feel rushed and I love being left to imagine the possibilities. Who knows? Maybe Evelyn will feed us bonus stories in the future. Lord knows I'm still hungry!

came into after hours? bisexual. left it somehow even more bisexual.

i loved the art in the book, it really helped me prepare for each new story. and the stories were SO GOOD. i truly flew through them, way too excited to get to know so many new evelyn characters.

some highlights for me:

LOVED seeing some femdom action! there's something wrong with me, so i love an anxious man. which means i love cass and never wanted his story to end.

HE HASN'T COME IN 16 DAYS BECAUSE HE DIDN'T HAVE HER PERMISSION!!!

HE CRAWLS FOR HER?!?!?!

okay, you get the point.

and then the BI AF EIFFLE TOWER!! so good, chefs kiss, will think about it for years.

Who loves to read short stories?    Let's Add spicy and a K!nk club setting   I'm so in!! This anthology of stories had me wishing there was a Lilith's Lounge in my town! What do you mean I can't have a k!nk club where I'm given a 6 different colored bracelet to explore a multi floor club!! Life is so unfair!I enjoyed following each character, couple and story in exploring and embracing their fantasies. What color bracelet would you like?

Okay okay okay! Ms Evelyn Leigh really showed up and showed out with this baddie! All the stories were so fun and very very hot, and there is truly not a bad one in the bunch. Free Roam and Handle With Care were my two favorites of the collection, and while I was bummed Hands On wasn’t included in the ARC (gimme that bald babe Des puhlease!), I’m excited to read it upon release!

Thank you to Evelyn for giving the people what they not only WANTED but NEEDED by making this ARC available to anyone for a day, and shoutout to my bestie who made sure I saw the link while I was at work and didn’t miss out.

AHHH, this is for all the bi baddies!! I love it 💕💕 It has all kinds of bi rep, showing that you can end up with whoever you want and you are still bi. I decided to break down my review into each short story.

Free Roam:
I read this one when it was published in another anthology, and it is still so good! Here's my previous review, which still stands: I need more of Evelyn Leigh's sapphic writing!! This novella was short, sweet and veryyyy spicy 🔥🔥 I loved the chemistry between Rae and Vic. I also love a good kink club hehe

Aim to Please:
An anxious sub MMC and confident dom FMC?? I love this dynamic so so much 🫠🫠 I mean she had him crawling and everything, what's not to love??

Handle With Care:
A little brattiness never hurt anyone hehe I loved this short and watching Emerald be more confident in herself as she explored her interests.

Invitation Only:
This was a spicyyyy MFF! I loved the relationship between Savvy and Amir, and when Nova was added to the mix, the chemistry was explosive. I learned a lot from this short by reading a lot of new things 👀👀

Overall:
Everything was so spicy and so good! I really liked how we got to explore more of Lilith's Lounge because I loved the little introduction I got in the previous anthology. There were a lot of kinks explored, and I can't wait to read what else Evelyn Leigh has in store for us next!

Spicy, Delicious, Fun!

A beautiful collection of spicy short stories!

Each one brings an element of sensuality and depth that makes the reader feel immersed in the characters. You get a series of 4 short stories that explore various kinks—from D&S to voyeurism. The dynamics range from polyam, sapphic, and others. All around, a good ole time!

This anthology personifies the nature and intentions of exploration—emotional intimacy that fills your cup up. Every moment had dynamic elements yet masterfully centered within the club.

Truly a fun read, and I’m forever thankful for the opportunity to ARC read!

I'm not usually one to read Anthologies, but this was exactly what I needed to save me from the reading slump I foresaw for myself. This book was so fun, so deliciously spicy and so so good. Now Miss Evelyn Leigh--I'm going to need you to do a masterclass on spicy writing for other authors because honestly, even though the whole book was a spicy anthology, it never felt overwhelming or boring. It kept me engaged the entire time and it had very relatable characters, which honestly really mattered to me. I loved this book so so much, one of the easiest, most deserved 5 stars ever!

After Hours is for the grown folks! Whew. I love every short story but Handle With Care? Mhmmmmm 🙂‍↕️ Six Stars. No notes.

The exploration of sexuality especially with Black folks as characters is so needed. Society does not want us to have autonomy over our sexuality and body. They oversexualize and turn and shame sexual beings! It puts us in a box of what we think we should be and scared to try anything else. It cause of a lot anxiety of something that you are allowed to be apart of and in control of!

Long story short, sometimes you just need to read about folks being nasty 🙂

Evelyn Leigh returns with a sexy collection of short stories, exploring themes of vulnerability, control, and exploration. Each couple or group connects you to Lillith’s Lounge, where your darkest and wildest desires came come true. But what stands out is how each story, though different on the surface, connect with each other with people who find comfort, assurance, or connection with each other.

I have loved Evelyn’s work from the get-go with Elevator Pitch, and this feels like a warm return to the worlds she’s created for us to thrive in!

OH MY GOD, I loved after hours by Evelyn. She's such a great writer and this is a masterpiece. Everyone needs to stop what they are doing and read after hours by Evelyn Leigh. It's kinky, black, and full with spice but it also has some context to each of the short stories. I loved reading each of them, and getting to know each character. I LOVE IT ALL

I think it also shows you that people aren't just one thing and they don't have to be. They can and are allowed to not fit the one thing they are tied to.

As a not so visible bi Asian person, reading AFTER HOURS: A Spicy Black Romance Anthology was not only incredibly sexy, but healing. FREE ROAM took my breath away, and HANDS ON was my favorite; Desmond is my favorite!!!

After Hours is an intimate, thought-provoking collection on romantic, queer, erotic representation across the board, and a reflection into desire and safe exploration. I think many of us could use a place like Lilith’s Lounge. Thank you so much, Evelyn, for an Advanced Reader’s Copy.

I was lucky to get an ARC of this book and finally got into it. I ended up getting the full book because I had to read Desmond's story.

This is such a sexy and spicy anthology.

I haven't read an anthology in a while and this one did not disappoint.

There are definitely a few stories I would love to see continued specifically Rodney and Desmond's.

I think the spiciest of them all was Savvy, Amir and Nova 🥵🥵

This is a new to me author but I definitely plan to get into more of her work.
