A modern Noah's Ark story. The Miller, an old aircraft carrier, serves as a refuge for thousands of survivors — a militarized microcosm drifting for decades after the war that nearly destroyed humanity, and after the flood that wiped out humanity's last remaining community. The Miller rescues passengers from a cruise ship in a scene reminiscent of The Raft of the Medusa.
In this dystopian reality, an Amazonian girl fights and struggles for the good of the little humanity that remains. She must defeat the Dawson mutiny.
Will they find land? Will this Noah's Ark deliver its human cargo to the promised land? The question stays suspended right up to the end.
I won't spoil the ending, but I'll let you discover the secret of the Aurora Satellite for yourself. This is a well-crafted, solid story that keeps you on your toes. It's also highly visual and could easily become a big-screen blockbuster.
A promising debut novel — we're looking forward to many more.
A great debut book from this author. I love how unique the storyline was and completely fell into the world she created. A HUGE amount of world building went into this, and it was done superbly.
The beautiful descriptions of the "Miller" were so vivid. The idea of people lost at sea desperately seeking land is something I would never want to imagine in real life! The community was well described as was how hard it is to coexist with so many others within such a confined space. I was constantly cursing out the troublemakers whenever they appeared on page. They left me FURIOUS. Every character jumped off the page and felt extremely believable.
If you are looking for a book that is smart, well-written, and full of action, then read this story!
I'm looking forward to reading what comes next from this author.
