A once-in-a-lifetime love. A second chance to get it right.
Shaw Lacey is a man of routines: long days on the family farm, quiet nights in his tucked-away cabin. But news that his former fiancée has returned to Holly Holler disrupts his predictable life, stirring up long-buried feelings. He’s determined to avoid her at all costs, but in a small town where memories linger in every corner, it’s impossible to ignore the woman who once owned his heart.
Eighteen years ago, a sudden scandal drove Millie Donovan from her hometown and the boy who promised her forever. When she returns to settle her estranged mother’s affairs, she plans to keep her stay brief and her heart guarded. But an unexpected revelation pulls Shaw back into her life, forcing her to confront the man whose heart she broke.
As they cultivate a tentative truce, Shaw and Millie discover that the roots of a first love grow deep. The spark between them still burns bright, but are they brave enough to let their love bloom once more?
An emotional small-town romance brimming with forgiveness, love, and second chances, Count on Forever is the third book in the Lacey Bros series.
Brandy Pelletier spends her days as a reading specialist and her nights and weekends reading anything she can get her hands on. She’s wanted to become a published author ever since second grade, when her original story “How the Giraffe Got Its Long Neck” was published in her school district’s annual writing anthology.
When she’s not blasting Taylor Swift or attempting to tackle her ridiculously long TBR, she can be found collecting book boyfriends and dreaming of living in a witch cottage with her miniature schnauzer, Pippa.
I loved being back in Holly Hollier with the Lacey brothers! I truly enjoyed this second chance, small town romance. I think Shaw and Millie might be my favorite couple. If you haven’t read this series, add it to your TBR. It is a definite must read.
4⭐️ 1.5-2🌶️ ARC REVIEW: 📖 COUNT ON FOREVER 📖 by Brandy Pelletier ✨ This is book 3 in the Lacey Bros series but can be read as a standalone. Shaw and Millie always were meant to be. They used to wish on the stars from the bed of his truck. In the years she’s been gone, she would lie awake looking at the stars when she was sad. Now that she’s back, can Shaw forgive her for breaking his heart? They have that once-in-a-lifetime kind of love - two people that only are whole together. You know that feeling that home is where your person is? That’s Shaw and Millie. He is so devoted to her and thankful she’s back in his life, with a second chance to love her. The writing is beautiful and emotional - it explores grief, healing, love, mistakes, forgiveness, and second chances. It’s also hopeful, with a twist I didn’t see coming. Not to mention Shaw gives us forearm porn, slutty glasses 🤓, and is a panty thief. 🥵🤭🤌🏻 I’m excited to read book 4 - Trixie + Cam’s story.
"A lifetime of sunsets are ours, baby." “You promise?" “This time, honeybee, you can count on forever."
Shaw Lacey has been in love with Millie Donovan since he was 13. At 19 they were engaged but scandal and tragedy tore them apart. Now she’s back in their small Arkansas hometown after 18 years away. He never stopped loving her but he plans to avoid her while she’s in town to settle her estranged mother’s estate. Memories of their time together haunt him but he insists a reunion is not going to happen.
He’s so vulnerable and raw because if she leaves again he will be devastated. But what if she stays? He’s worried he will give his heart to her again - he won’t be ‘enough’ - and she will leave him. He knows her better than anyone. She wants more but she will accept friendship if that’s all he is willing to give. He put up walls and closed himself off. Assumed a life of solitude was the answer. But he decides to stop protecting himself, and he forgives Millie (and himself). They are home to each other. 🥹
❤️ Squeeze hand ✋ 3 times = love you ❤️ He always called her ‘honeybee’ 🐝 ❤️ A gentleman = she 💦 ❤️ Porch swing fun 🤭
Favorite quotes: The night Millie walked out of my life, she took the light with her. And it's been dark ever since.
After 6,650 days, I finally, finally kiss Millie Donovan again. And it is transcendent.
"Rumor has it a resident placed it there for a long-lost love. A way to leave the light on for her, so to speak. In the hopes that maybe one day music would bring her home to him."
He darts a look across the cab, and Jesus Christ, those glasses are gonna end me. Here lies Millie Donovan. Cause of death? Shaw Lacey in dark-framed glasses.
"Dance with me, honeybee."
I've missed a lifetime of moments with her. And the grief of that threatens to drown me.
“Are we going to talk?" Another slow shake of his head. “What are we going to do, then?” "Take off your dress."
“I want you. I want to f-ck you. I want to keep you." “Y-yes. Yes to all of that." "I mean it, Millie. If you're coming to my bed, don't plan on leaving it." “Take me to your bed."
“I don't think a heart can hold more love than mine does for you. It's bursting with it. Every beat of it is for you."

Thank you to Brandy for letting me read/review. All opinions are my own.
Count on Forever completely stole my heart. Brandy Pelletier has a gift for writing stories that feel incredibly real, emotional, and hopeful all at once, and Shaw and Millie's story may be one of my favorites yet.
Eighteen years ago, Millie Donovan left Holly Holler and the love of her life behind after a devastating scandal turned her world upside down. Now she's back to settle her mother's affairs, determined to keep her stay brief and her heart protected. Unfortunately for both of them, avoiding Shaw Lacey isn't exactly possible in a small town filled with memories.
Shaw absolutely wrecked me in the best way. I've loved him from the beginning of the series, but this book revealed an entirely new side of him. Beneath the gruff exterior is a man who never truly stopped loving Millie. He spent years carrying the heartbreak of losing his first love, and watching him slowly open his heart again was both beautiful and emotional. Shaw is the kind of hero who shows up when it matters, holds your hand through the hard days, bakes cinnamon rolls when you need comfort, and never lets go of the people he loves.
Millie completely won me over as well. Returning to the town she fled nearly two decades earlier took incredible courage. She's strong, resilient, and deeply compassionate, but beneath that strength is a woman still carrying old wounds and fears. Watching her confront her past, find healing, and finally allow herself to be loved was one of the most rewarding parts of the story.
One of my favorite elements was the use of flashbacks. Seeing Shaw and Millie's childhood friendship, first love, and the moments that shaped them made their reconnection even more meaningful. Their love story wasn't just something they remembered—it was woven into every page. The flashbacks beautifully showed why these two never truly moved on and why their connection remained so powerful after all those years.
The chemistry between them was undeniable, but what I loved most was how realistic their second chance felt. Neither character simply brushed aside the hurt of the past. They took their time, worked through their pain, and learned to trust each other again. Their journey felt authentic, emotional, and completely earned.
The Lacey family and the town of Holly Holler continue to be some of my favorite parts of this series. The family dynamics, community support, and welcoming atmosphere add so much warmth to the story. Every secondary character felt important, and I loved seeing familiar faces while getting excited for future books.
Count on Forever is a beautiful story about forgiveness, healing, family, and a love that never truly disappeared. It made me laugh, made me emotional, and left me with the biggest smile on my face. If you love second-chance romances, childhood sweethearts, small-town communities, and heroes who never stop loving their person, this book belongs on your TBR.
And fair warning: Shaw Lacey is going to set the bar impossibly high. ❤️
I am so grateful to Brandy Pelletier for this ARC for which I am leaving an honest review.
As a beta I've been waiting. For a month to basically shout about how much I adore this book.
In true Brandy is my favourite author fashion I've read the beta version three times (no goodreads I'm not marking all of them that feels like cheating the reading challenge.) And then I got the Arc. I got to see it in book format and I'm still absolutely in love with it.
I've definitely loved Shaw from the beginning and I was not expecting Mr. Romantic to sneak up and make me love him even more. Between then and now Shaw Lacey has been and always will be a yearner.
I think Millie is one of the strongest and most courageous characters. To come back to a place she ran from, to not know what kinda of situation she was walking into. That takes a kind of bravery that I definitely don't possess.
The Lacey Lore in this books is so good that you see glimpse of what kind of relationships the boys have.
I also think that Count on Forever, and really all of Brandy's books deserve physical store shelf time. They are pretty much on par with B.K Borison, Elle Kennedy, Elsie Silver books.
Character are so well thought out and feel so real like you'd expect one to be your friend already and text you about their day, settings never leave you confused on where they are and what's going on, time line flows comfortably it doesn't feel rushed or like things jump around way to fast. The spice level is that perfect mix of being open door spicy but not overly spicy that makes you uncomfortable. It feels real and organic.
I've always likened Brandy's books to being a movie just in books form. (The best kind of books right?!) And COF stays true to that. Reading it again for now the fourth time I could see every scene so clearly in my head.
I can't wait to read what's next on the docket for Brandy. Just like I can't wait for the general public to be able to read Count On Forever and also fall in love with Shaw and Millie.
I am such a sucker for a second-chance romance, and Count on Forever was one of the best that I've ever read. Shaw and Millie were supposed to be forever. Instead, one decision changed everything, and they spent almost twenty years living separate lives while never really getting over each other. When Millie returns to Holly Holler, all the feelings, hurt, and unanswered questions they've been carrying around come right back.
Let me just start off by saying these two still loved each other so freaking much, even after all those years. Shaw may have convinced himself he was angry, but underneath all of that was a man who never really moved on. I completely ate up all the yearning in this book and I loved that their relationship wasn't fixed within a few pages. There was hurt to work through, trust to rebuild, and a lot of things that needed to be said. They eventually became a safe space for each other again and it was so beautiful.
Shaw completely destroyed me. We've gotten glimpses of him in the other Lacey Bros books, but nothing prepared me for how much I'd love him. He's quiet, stubborn, dependable, and loves with his whole heart. Every time his softer side slipped through, I completely melted. The Lacey family continues to be one of my favorite fictional families, and Holly Holler is the kind of place I want to move to just so I could be part of it all.
This was such a sweet story about forgiveness, healing, and finding your way back to the person who always felt like home. If you love childhood sweethearts, second chances, small-town romance, and a whole lot of yearning, definitely add this one to your TBR!
I received an advance reader copy of this book and am delighted to share my review.
Eighteen years ago, Millie Donovan left her hometown of Holly Holler behind. Now, after the loss of her mother, she must return to take care of her parents’ house—a trip she’s not exactly looking forward to. When Shaw Lacey hears that Millie is back in town, he’s determined to keep his distance. After all, she’s the woman he has loved for most of his life, and her he still hasn't healed from her departure.
Millie arrives with the plan to handle her responsibilities and leave - without a set place to go, she's moved many times through the years. However, as she realizes there is more to take care of than she expected, she takes a job at the Hoot. Inevitably, she begins crossing paths with Shaw, and it soon becomes clear that some unfinished business still remains between them.
The connection between Shaw and Millie runs deep, and their shared history is far too significant to ignore. As circumstances continue to bring them together, it becomes harder for either of them to keep running from the past and Shaw is always there to catch her.
One of my favorite aspects was the dual timeline that alternates between young Millie and Shaw and their present-day selves. Watching their relationship develop in the past while seeing how their experiences shaped who they became added so much depth to the story. The flashbacks made their romance even more meaningful. Despite the years apart and their attempts to move on, it becomes increasingly clear that they were always meant to find their way back to each other.
This was a heartfelt second-chance romance filled with emotional depth.
Count On Forever is the third (#3) book in the LACEY BROS series.
After his childhood sweetheart, his once in a lifetime love, his fiancée, Millie Donovan, ran away following a devastating scandal, Shaw Lacey leads a predictable, closed off existence, determined to keep his heart safe.
When he discovers that Millie is back in their small town, eighteen years after breaking his heart, he is determined to avoid her. But long held memories are determined to break him down and the couple make a tentative truce.
Can love and forgiveness bring them back together?….
———————————— This was my first read by Brandy Pelletier and I enjoyed it so much I immediately purchased the first two books in the series.
Shaw and Millie have an undeniable connection and the chemistry is there from the beginning.
Count On Forever is a well paced, interesting, easy read, obviously with some upsetting moments but on the whole it is an uplifting second chance, delightful romance with a touch of humour in there.
There are quite explicit spicy scenes in fitting with the progression of there reconnection.
I really loved all the secondary characters too, especially the Lacey family.
I read an ebook version of this delightful book, with around 340 pages, an interesting cover and great editing.
With thanks to Brandy Pelletier for an early read of this book which releases on June 12th. All comments are my own honest, unbiased opinion.
🐝 Second Chance Romance 🐝 Small Town Romance 🐝 Spicy 🔥🔥🔥 🐝 He Never Stopped Loving Her
I’m so honored to ARC my second Brandy book and all of the following opinions are mine, no deals or anything just honesty 💕
3 hours and 40 minutes to read 5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Post reading:
I love Shaw and Millie so much, the flashbacks to their childhood storylines, the love that is clearly still between them, the unraveling of the past to explain their current and their future, and just the community that they’re in from family to random members of the town!
Brandy is an expert at writing stories that will make you emotional but happy, her characters can almost come off the page right into your life with how real they feel, I honestly can say I have loved all five Brandy books I have read and I know I will love all future Brandy books.
Get you a man who loves like Shaw Lacey, who holds your hand on the rough days, who will hug you when you cry, who will bake you the most delicious cinnamon rolls (I need that recipe asap), and who will drop everything to get to you.
Millie Donovan, a girl with heartbreak, grit, and love flowing through her veins, a girl who knows she’s loved but feels helpless against stereotypes, a woman who has grown significantly but still has that little girl within her who’s afraid of what the others might say. A woman who when she heals from the hurt realizes that all she’s ever wanted and needed is in that small town.
I can’t wait for everyone to be able to read this masterpiece once it comes out on June 12th, I highly recommend reading The Check Down & Down for the Count beforehand as those are books 1 & 2 in the Lacey Bros series!
This is open door so if that’s not for you I fully understand, just want to give the quickest of heads ups!
The epilogue is everything and I can’t wait for Cam and Trixie’s book!
Again I’m so honored to have been an ARC recipient of this book and forever will stand on the side of loving Brandy’s work!
Some of my fave quotes (non spoiler)

“Honestly, such pretty eyes are kinda wasted on a boy” ——— idk how they do it but guys almost always have gorgeous eyes with the PRETTIEST eyelashes around???? Like how! (Personally as a Christian girlie, I know it’s the Lord but still… with the lack of upkeep with most guys… HOW)

“All right, whippersnappers.”

“Yes. You’re a fudging fudger.”
Pre reading — I’m so excited to get into Shaw and Millie’s story, the little bit I’ve heard from my sister (basically just that it’s amazing and she can’t wait to talk to me about everything -she beta’d and was a big tease lol) I just know it’s going to be amazing. Brandy has consistently written fantastic books and I don’t expect this to be any different! If anything, she’s getting better the more she writes!
Thank you Brandy Pelletier for the early copy of this book.
I have been curious and waiting for Shaw and Millie's story since I first read The Check Down, and it did not disappoint!
They were childhood sweethearts, engaged, and happily in love - until something went terribly wrong, and Millie left town, only returning 18 years later after her mother's passing. The plan was simple: take care of business, sell her mom's house, avoid her ex-fiancé, and leave town to continue looking for her forever place. From his part, Shaw did his best to avoid the woman who had broken his heart, but destiny - and his meddling family - weren't in on the plan. The more Shaw saw and interacted with Millie, the more his heart warmed toward her, and it was such a beautiful thing to see. The chemistry between them was off the charts, and their love truly was one in a lifetime. I love how emotional their story was, and how forgiving they were of their past mistakes while still carrying around hurt and being imperfect.
Shaw was an amazing character, but Millie has my whole heart. She is so true to herself, so brave and willing to do hard things, even when she doesn't need to. It was easy, knowing her throughout the book, to see why she made the decision to leave so many years before, and it was incredible to see her letting herself be accepted and loved by the Laceys.
This book made me feel and really, what more can we ask of a romance? Loved it very, very much!
🐝 Small town romance 🐝 Second chance 🐝 Found family 🐝 “It’s always been you”-vibe 🐝 No 3rd act breakup, but a surprise
Millie Donovan fled the small town of Holly Holler in the middle of the night. Leaving behind the love of her life, Shaw Lacey. The boy who started out as her friend when they were kids, then boyfriend and now fiancée. Or ex-fiancée. The boy whose family feels more like your family than your own. Because what do you do when you feel like your life is crumbling and you fear it’ll affect your fiancée and his family negatively to be associated with you? You leave and throw your phone away. Anything to keep the Lacey family name safe from the town gossip and rumours. But now, 18 years later, a call has changed everything and Millie is forced back to her childhood home and the town with so many memories. And her ex-fiancée.
Wow. This is my first book by Brandy and I’m blown away. The writing is SO GOOD! The story captured me from the first page and I had a hard time putting the book down to go do things my grown-up life requires of me(ugh). The characters, the storyline and their chemistry was off the charts! I absolutely loved it and I’ll definitely be reading the two books prior to this, and wait impatiently for the next one! 📕📚
Thank you to the author for letting me be an ARC reader on this book. This is my honest review!
Count on Forever is a heartwarming and captivating romance that beautifully explores the themes of love, trust, and second chances. From the very first chapter, the story draws readers in with relatable characters, emotional depth, and a romance that feels both genuine and inspiring.
The author does an excellent job of developing the relationship between the main characters, allowing their connection to grow naturally throughout the story. Their chemistry is undeniable, and the challenges they face make their journey even more compelling. Readers will find themselves rooting for them as they navigate misunderstandings, personal struggles, and the uncertainties that come with opening their hearts to love.
One of the book’s greatest strengths is its balance of romance and emotion. The story is filled with tender moments, meaningful conversations, and enough conflict to keep readers engaged without overwhelming the overall feel-good nature of the novel. The writing is engaging and easy to read, making it difficult to put the book down.
Overall, Count on Forever is a touching and enjoyable romance that reminds readers of the power of love, forgiveness, and commitment. Fans of contemporary romance will appreciate its heartfelt storyline and satisfying ending. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for an uplifting love story that leaves a lasting impression.
I've loved Shaw since the beginning of this series, but this book made me fall for him all over again. Beneath the grumpy exterior is a man who loves deeply, fiercely, and never stopped caring for the girl who broke his heart. And Millie? My heart hurt for her. Coming back to Holly Holler after eighteen years took so much courage, and watching her face her past while finding her way home again was beautiful.
The flashbacks absolutely got me. Seeing their friendship, their first love, and all the moments that shaped them made every scene hit even harder.
What I loved most was how mature this story felt. There were no games, no unnecessary drama, no easy fixes. The hurt wasn't magically erased, the healing took time, and every step toward forgiveness felt real and earned. It was such a refreshing reminder that love isn't always about grand gestures, sometimes it's about showing up, listening, and choosing each other every day.
Brandy does it again. She writes characters that feel so real they could step right off the page, and somehow manages to make me laugh, swoon, and tear up all in the same book ! I love it !
I went into Count on Forever without reading the first two books and still had such a good time with it.
This is the kind of romance that leaves you smiling when you finish. It’s sweet, sappy, heartfelt and wrapped up in the best small-town family vibes.
What hit me the hardest was Millie’s story. Her struggle with leaving home, building a life elsewhere and always feeling that pull to return home was something I related to deeply. Having moved away from where I grew up, those emotions felt very real.
And then there was Shaw. Give me a grumpy man with a soft centre every single time.
The moment that completely got me was when Shaw found the treasures and messages Millie had kept for twenty years. My heart absolutely melted.
The only reason this wasn’t a 5⭐ read for me is that I could tell there were some family storylines and connections from the first two books that I was missing. But honestly? It just made me want to go back and read them because I loved this family so much.
If you love small-town romance, found family, grumpy sunshine dynamics and soulmates who feel destined to find their way back to each other, you’ll want this one on your TBR.
Nearly two decades of unfinished business? YES! I was completely head over heels for this book before I even read the first page. Second chances have become my jam and this book fulfilled every desire I have for making it feel authentic!
Millie reluctantly returns to Holly Holler to take care of her parents' home after the loss of her mother. Emotions already on edge, she's ready to get in and get back out. After all, that's what she's been doing over the past 18 years - trying to keep moving so her mind never had time to settle. But as fate would have it, she realizes she's in a bit over her head and decides to stay for a bit while getting things under control. She doesn't want the past to come back and destroy everything she thought she'd left behind. She's strong, but allows herself to work through the hard part to get to the good.
Shaw initially portrays that he's angry -- but as you get to know him, you discover that he's using anger to cover up all the hurt and pain he's been feeling. He's undeniably still in love with Millie and I love how he's willing to put in the work once he gets over that stubborn side!
These two have some amazing dialogue and a natural progression that you can't help but root for!
COUNT ON FOREVER by @thebrandyland is out NOW on Amazon and KU! 🥳 COF is book three of her interconnected standalone Lacey Bros series!
I read my arc copy on the weekend and I LOVED it so so much 💚💚💚
I love all of Brandy’s books, but this one is hands down my favourite book of hers. It’s emotional, it will tug on your heart strings! It’s funny, and gives you all the feel good feelings. It’s raw and honest and will make you laugh, cry, swoon, sweat (grumpy, quiet Shaw has a bit of a dirty mouth! 🔥) but also, the cabin Shad builds with only Millie’s dreams in mind? Swooon!!
Also, a prologue that ends in a cliff hanger is genius and so perfect!!!
Shaw and Millie are absolutely perfect for each other. The flashback chapters of them growing up and going from childhood friends to sweethearts in high school is honestly the best. Their first kiss flashback chapter is among my favs!
There is also amazing found family vibes, as Millie basically has no family left in town when Jae comes back, but the Lacey women and the whole family and even the town welcome her back with open and kind arms. 🥰
I also loved the tension between Shaw and Millie! Ifs obvious they still love each other, but Shaw is still really hurt by what happened eighteen years ago. When he finally snaps? 🔥🔥🔥 and then when they actually get together? The best!!! They were Alexa’s end game, they just took a bit of a detour to get to their HEA 💚
Anddddd I cannot mention all the Easter eggs Brandy dropped! For the next book, and future books/series?! I absolutely cannot wait for what’s to come!!
Count on Forever is out and I highly recommend picking it up and downloading on KU 💚
Count on Forever by Brandy Pelletier delivers a heartfelt and emotional conclusion to the Lacey Bros series with a beautiful second-chance romance that proves true love can withstand even the longest separation. Set in the charming small town of Holly Holler, we follow the story of the MMC Shaw Lacey and the FMC Millie Donovan as they confront the heartbreak, misunderstandings, and unfinished feelings that have lingered between them for nearly two decades. One of the novel's strengths I felt is its exploration of forgiveness. Rather than relying solely on romantic tension, Pelletier examines how past mistakes shape people and how healing often requires courage from both sides. Overall, Count on Forever is a touching, hopeful romance about lost love, redemption, and the possibility of finding your way back to the person who has always held your heart.
I received an ARC copy from the author herself. Thank you so much for giving me a chance to read and voluntarily review this novel!
There is nothing sweeter than childhood besties who fall in love with each other; until some irrational fear in the mind of a teenager rips everything a part leaving a Millie-sized crater in Shaw's heart.
While I really thought the thing that pulled them apart was going to be so much more severer than it was - I can still see how Millie felt that she was doing right by the Lacey family and leaving town. Only thing is she left her heart there...
Poor Shaw he loved her so much he hated her just the same and tried desperately to evade her and her memory on the outside but he was really pulling the thread of an invisible string for 20 years willing her to come back to him. When she finally did come home he did everything in his power to avoid and push her away - despite his meddling family. In the end, love always finds a way and they get their second chance at forever.
If you love a sappy second chance romance - then this is for you!!
Thank you to Brandy Pelletier for the opportunity to read this beautiful story.
Overall Thoughts & Emotional Reactions: This story was filled with hurt and healing. The way I was on the edge of my seat to figure out why these two split. Shaw captured my attention in Down for the Count and I had to know what happened to our grumpy farmer. Welp, I never would have guessed that! I was sucked in watching Shaw and Millie find their way back to each other as the flashbacks provided all the answers I didn’t know I’d need. But, I can’t stress enough how the Lacey Family shows up for their own. The relationship between the three brothers is strained, but throughout the book you can see these tender moments between where the brothers show up for Shaw and remind him that he is loved and deserves to be loved. While Millie struggles to come to terms with her past and tries to find her place in the world, the rest of the Lacey Family brings her back into the fold and helps her remember her place. The amount of tissues I went through with this book may have single-handedly funded Kleenex for the month! Please check out this book, you’ll have plenty of laughs (Shaw's secret klepto & ransom tendency, iykyk) and tears. It is so worth the read.

Favorite Quotes: "She was my favorite song. I’ve long forgotten the words, yet the melody’s still stuck in my head.”
“Truth is, honeybee, we fell in love so young, my soul cleaved to yours,”
“Sure, life interrupted your love story for a while. But the two of you, together? Meant to be. It’s written in those stars you used to wish on.”
I received an advanced copy of this book and I am leaving this review voluntarily. The above opinions are my own.
One of my favorite tropes is second chance romance and “Count on Forever” did it so very well! Our two main characters Shaw and Millie grew up together and became fast best friends. As these two got older, the friendship turned into love. But after a tragic event their relationship ended. Now fast forward to many years in the future, Millie is back in town and Shaw is definitely NOT happy to see her at first!
I was addicted to the banter and redevelopment of Millie and Shaw’s relationship in this story and will definitely need to go and read the others in the series!
If you like small town romances, second chance romances, grumpy vs grumpy vibes then you should add “Count on Forever” to your TBR, but please check the trigger warnings because Millie experiences multiple tragic events that could affect you as a reader.
THANK YOU for the ARC! This book was incredible! I didn’t read/know about the first 2 books in this series when I read this 3rd book. I don’t think I “missed” anything by starting on the 3rd book, but I will DEFINITELY go back and read the first 2.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVED Millie and Shaw! They were so relatable as flawed main characters that were just trying to navigate life with childhood trauma, love, and loss.
I loved the way the book would add layers to their love story by going back and forth to growing up years and “present day”. It added more character development and made their actions make a little more sense. It was also fun to get to know the characters as children so it’s like I was growing up with them. It made me think of situations growing up with my childhood friends.
Count on Forever by Brandy Pelletier was such an emotional read. Even though this is book 3 in the series, I had no trouble jumping in and connecting with Shaw and Millie's story.
This second chance romance weaves together present day chapters with glimpses into their childhood, slowly revealing what went wrong and why they never truly let each other go.
If you love: ❤️ Second chance romance 🏡 Small town romance 👨👩👧👦 Close family dynamics 🥹 Heart tugging emotions ✨ A satisfying HEA
...then add this one to your TBR.
The chemistry, the history, and the emotional payoff had me invested from start to finish. I'll definitely be going back to read the first two books, and Brandy Pelletier is officially an author I'll be watching.
Second chances? Everyone deserves a second chance especially when loving someone after 18 years. When Millie comes back into town after nearly two decades she is there for a quick trip. She never thought she would end up seeing him again. But as fate would have it they did! It is a small town after all. Millie was Shaws first love and he never fully recovered from that grief of losing her. This book takes you along their journey present and past letting you explore their story thru flashbacks. They truly had chemistry between each other and the rawness of it was beautifully captured. I loved the part you fudging fudger🤣🤣🤣 that is a first for me haha Brandy Pelletier tells a great second chance love story and I would recommend this to anyone.
Shaw and Millie were a long time coming. This was a very emotional story but will leave you with a big smile on your face.
These two fought so hard for their happily ever after. Unfortunate circumstances tore them apart at a young age which resulted in deep wounds in both of them. This was a very realistic portrayal of a second chance. Nothing happened quickly which I was happy about. They took their time and worked through their situation as best as they could. It really was no wonder Shaw was so grumpy. His heart has been broken for many years. Millie was so strong and I just wanted the very best for her. I loved this story so much and cannot wait for what’s next!
Things I loved: - telling the bees - just the right amount of tension and anger before they chose to use their second chance - the flashbacks melted my heart because they showed how these two loved each other their whole lives - Lacey family and small town welcoming Millie back
I wanna do the witches ride so bad!
Quotes: - "Yet time again and again I've discovered the new soil is inhospitable. My roots simple won't take." - "I filled my days with pieces of you, as many as my life could hold "
First off I would like to thank Brandy for the opportunity to read and review this book.
Millie & Shaw Oh y'all, this one was so beautifully sad, like I could feel the pain, the angst, the hurt pouring through the pages. I absolutely loved the second chance in this one, and the way they fought their way back to each other and worked through their pain and forgiveness together. Ugh such a beautiful story.
4/5 Recommend this book. This book was beautifully written and handle some of the topics within beautifully and with sensitive care.
A messy tale of true, forever love. The kind we all dream about. I loved the duel point of view, coupled with the multiple time periods. The story keeps you guessing until the end. The dynamic between the couple is just fire. They are clearly made for each other and learning about their heart breaking 'time before the the second chance' is at times gut wrenching.
I loved how the story unfolded and even though the story is second chance, small town, found family. It never feels cheesy or predictable. A really raw tale of coming of age love.
*I received an advanced copy from the author, my review is my own and not influenced by others* Count on Forever… as a fan of her Lacey Brothers series, I think this is Brandy’s best one yet. Shaw and Millie’s story is so sweet and heartfelt, with plenty of moments that tug at your heartstrings, have you reaching for a tissue, and reminiscing on their shared experiences in adolescence and early adulthood, and rooting for them to find their way back to each other as adults. I’m so in love with every aspect of this book.
Second chance romance Small town Childhood sweethearts
Shaw Millie was the love of his life until something happened and she left his hometown and was gone for 18 years.
Millie After being gone from her hometown for more than 18 years, she has to come back after her mother's death to make arrangements.
This is a book gave me hope. It sends the message that we should always fight for our dreams and never give up hope. I loved the fact that they are in their late thirties, it's a refreshing change from most of what is available.
Shaw and MIlls.. Great 2nd chance romance. Loved how his family was so supportive of her throughout their lives, and loved the flashbacks to see how their love grew. Would have liked to have known the reason she left before the end of the book, but I think the way it was written in was appropriate as well.
Did not realize this was the third in a series so now I need to go back and read the other 2 books.
