Black Roses MC #7

Barrett: The Black Roses MC, Book Seven

Rate this book
When she barges into his clubhouse, he demands answers. Namely about the thirteen-year-old daughter he never knew existed.

Camryn
We were oil and water the first time we met, and nothing has changed. He’s my sister’s ex, and the father of her child he claims he didn’t know about.

Now he thinks he has every right to take my niece from me, and the only way I can be a part of her life is to live with the one person who gets under my skin simply by breathing.

He’s crass, arrogant, and completely off-limits.

But someone needs to tell that to the butterflies that explode in me every time he turns his devastating smile in my direction.

The heat building between us is more than fiery disdain, and that’s something neither of us are prepared for, but we can’t seem to escape.

Now I’m wondering if the cocky boy I knew has turned into a brave man who stays and protects what’s his.

Barrett
I left my hometown in the rearview and never looked back, until a girl shows up at my clubhouse and claims she’s my daughter.

When her aunt practically barrels through the gates searching for her niece, I’m left with only one option—play nice with Camryn Fuller or risk alienating my daughter.

Easier said than done.

I’m stuck living with a woman who’s constantly looking over my shoulder, waiting for me to mess up.

When I do, it isn’t with my kid. It’s with her feisty aunt and a moment when I should have walked away instead of kissing the hell out of her.

And I can’t bring myself to regret it.

Now, a ghost from my past has set his sights on taking my daughter, throwing our fresh start into utter chaos.

He thinks I’m the same scared kid he got rid of all those years ago, but I’ll show him that I’ve turned into the man he should be afraid of this time around.

kind of distraught that i have to wait until July for the next one 😭😭 i love this series so much and this one was no exception. sister’s ex can be iffy for me but they didn’t really date and it was when they were kids so i got over that pretty quickly. we also read about Barrett being a manwhore in basically every other book so that was a little off putting as well but i still really liked this.

Barrett took to being a dad really quickly and built a great relationship with Sydney. I loved the scene when she calls him dad for the first time 🥹

-MC romance
-found family
-enemies to lovers
-forced proximity
-surprise single dad
-sister’s ex
-reformed playboy
-pierced MMC
-slow burn

💜The Black Rose MC is at it again. 💜

The next installment in the Black Rose MC has arrived with book seven; Barrett. As always, I do recommend reading a series in order to get the most out of it. Each of the books in the series can be read as a standalone in the series, but they are in an interconnected world, so most characters pop in and out of most of the books.

Barrett isn't your average joe-smo, he’s stubborn to a fault, loyal and rough around the edges. He is used to his life and has no plans of changing things, that is until he gets the surprise of a lifetime on his latest birthday. That surprise you ask….a teenage daughter he never knew existed and she comes with a scary aunt too.

When young Sydney makes her way to the Black Rose MC Clubhouse to track down a man she knows to be her father, she is scared, but not as scared when her aunt Camryn finds out what she has done. When Camryn learns what her niece has done she goes thermal-nuclear. Her sister (Syd’s mother) was a mess, but she still loved her, with her messy way of life and death, Camryn has been the only constant in Syd’s life and she isn't letting some man neither of them know hurt her niece. Neither of them were expecting Barrett or the Black Rose MC.

I think this is my new favorite addition to the Black Rose Mc. When he learns he has a daughter, his entire life changes, and when Camryn challenges him on everything he says and does, that just makes his blood boil even more. And not in a way he was expecting. You can tell how much Syd means to Camryn, and how quickly she starts to mean everything to Barrett. There two are light gasoline and fire, they only spark hotter when they are together, but that heat isn’t just their sexual chemistry, it’s also their joint goal to make sure Syd is happy and healthy. When Barrett’s past comes back to haunt him, it puts his very fragile relationship with Syd and Cam at jeopardy, but he is nothing if not determined to keep what he has found. Or rather what has found him.

Way to go Ms. Author another great addition to add to the series, I hope there is more to come. For readers that love a MC romance with spicy undertones and found family, this is the book for you.

I LOVED this story! From start to finish I was engaged. I read 90% of this book in a day, and would have finished it if it had not been for adulting. Barrett and Camyrn were a delicious slow burn. And despite the fact I figured out the plot twist long before the reveal, it did not take away from my overall enjoyment of the story. In fact I said out loud "I knew it!"

The pacing, plot lines and spice were perfectly timed and very well written. Once again Kate Randall makes it's almost impossible to pick a favorite brother. And in classic fashion the cliff hanger at the end is keeping me on my toes.

I've been reading this series for roughly 2 years now, and it still holds my attention. It's always great to get check in on the earlier couples. And the world building is chef's kiss.

The only issue I had with this couple was the fact that any children they have will be Sydney's sibling/cousins 😅. They kinda even joke about it in the book. But this is fiction so nothing to lose sleep over.

Favorite Quotes:

"You turned a ho into a housewife,” Lucy says."

“Lock your door. I need to know that I can’t walk into your room tonight. Otherwise, neither of us will be getting any sleep.”

"Fuck. I hate when my brain makes sense."

"How the hell do my brothers walk around when it feels like half their heart is on the outside of their body,"

"All of our women could probably do better. Good thing we don’t give them a choice,” Jude says with a cocky grin. All of my brothers grunt in agreement."

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

This is the story of Barrett and Camryn. To say these two are oil and water just might be an understatement. She knows Barrett because he is her sister's ex and they have a child together. A child he claims he didn't know a thing about. Now that child has shown up at his clubhouse claiming to be his daughter. Then comes Camryn searching for her niece. The woman he loves to give a hard time. But, he is not stupid and knows if he wants to be in his daughter's life he is going to have to get along with her. But she doesn't need to know he realizes that. If he has one thing going for him it is that he is rude and crass and stubborn as the day is long. He is a little more than rough around the edges but extremely loyal. Camryn for her part is sweet and loves her niece. The poor girl has had so much chaos in her life that the only constant she has had is Camryn. She is sure not going to let Barrett hurt Sydney. But there is a whole lot more to this story that you need to discover for yourself. I loved these characters and the story they had to tell. I could not put this book down. I so needed to know what was going to happen between Barrett and Camryn. After all their chemistry bleeds off the pages of this book that you are going to love.

This one hooked me right from the premise. Secret child, forced proximity, and a messy past that refuses to stay buried? I was all in.
Barrett is not your typical polished hero. He is rough, stubborn, and very set in his ways, but finding out he has a daughter changes everything. Watching him step into that role, even when he has no idea what he is doing, gave the story a lot of heart.
Camryn brought the fire. She is protective, opinionated, and not afraid to challenge him at every turn. Their dynamic is tense in the best way, with that constant push and pull that keeps things interesting. The fact that he is her sister’s ex just adds another layer of drama that you can feel in every interaction.
The forced living situation really works here. Being stuck together makes the tension impossible to ignore, and when it finally tips into something more, it feels earned and inevitable at the same time.
I also loved the added suspense with Barrett’s past coming back around. It raises the stakes and gives the story more depth than just romance.
If you like MC romance with strong personalities, emotional tension, and a little bit of chaos mixed in, this is definitely worth picking up.

Just couldn’t get into this one. Not poorly written, but I always find it icky when the H has been with the h’s sister first. This felt less like a romance and more like a relationship of convenience. It was pretty boring and then the author seem to realize that, so she threw in some ridiculous backstory on why the sister was so messed up that included her well-to-do dad pimping her out to business associates that included bravta. 🙄

Also, I’m really getting tired of manwhores flipping a switch and becoming the perfect guy. Suddenly doing everything right, realizing how unfulfilling their past promiscuity was (while of course being the most skilled lover ever because of all their experience) and becoming 100% devoted to one woman (and in this case a teenage daughter.). It just doesn’t seem likely, especially when we’ve read Barrett’s exploits from other books and even at the start of this one. He’s happier than a pig in shit with his rotation of multiple strippers and whores but he instantly changes when Camryn and Sydney show up? Not likely. And why do the heroines who end up with these men always say they can’t judge the hero for his past? Um, sure you can.

This is the 7th story in The Black Roses MC Series where Barrett gets the biggest surprise of his life on the night of his birthday - a teenage daughter, Sydney shows up at the MC. Her mother had a brief relationship with Barrett when they were kids and then her father chased him away with lies and money. Sydney’s Aunt Camryn has been the only stable person in her life so when her sister passes from a tough life of drugs and an accident she takes Sydney to her parents to bury her sister hoping her parents have changed. Barrett, Camryn and Sydney are throw together learning how to live together and become a unique family while keeping the MC safe from unknown enemies. Camryn and Barrett give in to their attraction even when she drives him absolutely crazy with her stubbornness from the 1st meeting as kids. Their journey to becoming a family with a real home will have them dealing with her parents evilness and those who want to destroy the MC.

This is the 7th book in this phenomenal series, and this is Barrett and Camryn’s story.
Barrett is rough, stubborn, and very set in his ways, but his world tilts on its axels when Sydney arrives at the clubhouse claiming to be his 13-year-old daughter. whom he never knew about. Camryn is patient opinionated, and not afraid to challenge him, when she comes barrelling through the gates on a mission to find her niece. When Barrett’s past comes back to haunt him can he keep Sydney and Camryn safe and protected?
No spoilers: this is a must read for all MC lovers.
This is a well written story which has found family, friendships, emotions, drama, tension, secrets, suspense, intrigue, challenges, opposites attract, forced proximity, enemies / lovers, forbidden romance, humour, witty banter, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining addictive page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

I just finished Barrett, and it was such a great read! The secret child trope is always a favorite of mine, and this one delivered, especially with the twists and turns at the end that genuinely surprised me.

As always, I loved getting glimpses of some of my favorite characters from the Black Roses MC universe…that’s always a highlight. Barrett’s dedicated and sweet side really stood out, and I appreciated how fiery and strong Camryn was as a character.

That said, the relationships, both between Camryn and Barrett and between Barrett and his long-lost daughter developed a bit quickly. I would have loved to see those connections explored more deeply.

Overall, though, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I love this series and can’t wait for the final installment to be released!

Love me some Found Family, MC!

Barrett: The Black Roses MC, Book Seven by Kate Randall was another addictive addition to the Black Roses MC series. Barrett and Camryn’s chemistry was full of tension, sarcasm, and slow-burning heat, and I loved how their relationship grew while trying to protect Sydney. The secret child trope mixed with forced proximity and found family gave this story so much heart. Barrett stepping into fatherhood was surprisingly emotional, and seeing his protective side come out made him impossible not to love. The suspense and twists toward the end kept me hooked, and now I’m desperate for the next book in the series. Definitely one of my favorites from the Black Roses MC world so far.

WOW…this book was full of surprises for Barrett, Camryn and Sydney! Filled with fear Sydney runs to Barrett after her mother’s death with surprise #1, in fear Camryn chases after her. And the fun begins!! I laughed, I cried, I truly loved this little family in the making and how Camryn & Barrett finally bury the spats to make Sydney a real home, then finally falling for each other. ❤️

But when the unthinkable happens and surprise #2 is found will Barrett be able to get to his daughter Sydney in time and keep the love of his life Camryn safe?

Grab this all of the feels romance and enjoy!!

I freaking love the Black Roses MC series so much, and Barrett is a great addition! I mean, of course being seven books in, I'm invested!
I honestly couldn't put this book down, I finished it in less than 24 hrs. There's such a delightful found family aspect to this story, and I personally love a taboo coupling - which we get with Cam's sister being the mother of Barrett's child. Cam & Barrett are so so great together, and the way their relationship unfolds feels really organic, especially as they share the same singular goal.

Thank you for gifting me an advanced reader copy. Review reflective of my personal opinions

This series just gets better and better! This is more of a 4 1/2 stars for me.
The tension between Barrett and Camryn was so good and the moment they come together for a common goal was so much better. It was the perfect amount of tension.
Also Syd is freaking awesome and is probably my favorite kid character I have read. She is so strong and resilient for her age and I want to be like her when I get older. haha
The Black Roses still kicking ass is like coming back home. They have got to be one of my top 5 found families. They really love each other and will do anything for each other.

Thank you to Kate Randall and TheNexStepPr for an ARC in return for an honest review.

A great addition to the Back Roses MC. This book is just as addictive as its predecessors. I absolutely enjoyed the complications and messy that comes with a secret teenage child and her spitfire aunt.

Barrett the stubborn soul that he is, has no clue what is going to happen to his life. He is set in his ways, but this curveball has him stepping up and figuring it out on the fly.

It addition we get Barrett’s past bringing the suspense. The strong personalities, the forced proximity, and tension had me finish this book in almost one sitting! I am ready for more.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

This is an enemies-to-lovers romance with loads of tension.

Camryn chooses to move in with her sister’s ex, Barrett, so Sydney can get to know her father, who, it turns out, never even knew she existed after Sami was lied to about him wanting nothing to do with her.

As secrets come to light and people aren’t quite what they seem, the drama really pulls you in. The chemistry is strong, and Barrett’s protective side shines.
I loved the moment Syd calls him ‘Dad’ it’s such a sweet touch.

This is a fabulous read with plenty of emotion, loyalty and Black Roses family

Hands down one of my favorite MC series! Barrett and Camryn have so much chemistry and the way these two go back and forth with each other is gold!! These two go back to their younger days, but are brought back together when Sydney, Camryn's niece, goes looking for her dad. Who just happens to be Barrett. Barrett and Camryn meet up for the first time in years thinking they know exactly who the other is, and they couldn't be more wrong about each other. I loved this story and I cannot wait for the next one!!!

Seventh book in the series and the first book I've read from this author -- and I was able to follow the story line just fine. Barrett suddenly finds out he has a daughter when she shows up and the club. Following close behind is her very protective aunt, Cam. It was nice to see the evolving relationship of father and daughter. Cam as the love interest was a plus. I did like that the characters were older than I'm used to reading. Will definitely go back and read the backlist.

Love

Camryn didn't have live growing up, but she knew what it felt like from her niece. Having to share was also a new feeling for her. With Garrett's help she found she can do both. Barrett gets a second chance he didn't know he neeeded , the love of his daughter(he just met) and the live from a woman who wanted to kick him in the balls. Together the three found a family they didn't know they wanted or needed. On to the next adventure!💙💚😉

This book was definitely full of surprises and has all the feels
I loved the found family aspect of the book and how Barrett got to know his daughter he didn’t know he had. I especially loved how Barrett also got to know Camryn a little better since she was the one who took care of syd after her mom’s death and loved how they fell for each other.

The tension is every bit as thick as the sparks as Barrett and Camryn's story plays out. Emotions and feelings are all tangled up in animosity and secrets to create a situation that sinks it's claws deeply into your heart and squeezes it mightily. Toss in some action and danger and you just know you better plan ahead because this one is going to have you staying up late to finish it.

I just love these men

And women of course. This family just never disappoints and I'll say, the storylines and writing get better and better. Highly recommend. I will say, the are not dark 1%ers, but they definitely have a code and if you cross them, there will be consequences.
