This beautiful book is attention-grabbing and designed to deepen one's knowledge of geography and cultures across the globe. I’ve struggled with geography books in the past because so many of them are simply lists of numbers and dates, and frankly, most of them are boring. This book is so much more than that, and it is anything but boring. While it does include the necessary things like map-reading skills, it also includes information about weather, people, cultures, topography, animal life, economics, governments, and (to quote the author), “how the world fits together.”
The beginning sets a solid foundation for understanding geography from a biblical worldview and understanding how the catastrophic event of the flood of Noah’s day dramatically changed the face of the planet. In this same section (one that may need to be referred to more than once), the basics of map reading and the differences in types of maps are covered. An overview of types of governments and other definitions are also included. It gives a detailed, but not overwhelming overview of these topics.
I feel like this book takes the reader on a journey to discover the beauty of the world God created, and it helps us to understand that there are some serious consequences to our sin. It is colorful and engaging with stunning photos and helpful illustrations. I really appreciate the spreadsheet type charts that organize the facts in a simple manner. The facts are presented in a way that makes sense and ties the information together. The authors help show the connections between the locations, natural resources, and economies and exports, as well as governments and cultures. The topic of various religions is covered in a respectful manner without deviating from biblical truths. The Thank-Pray-Ask-Pray sections are a beautiful reminder to give glory to God for His beautiful creation and to pray for our fellow humans, created in His image across the globe.
The worksheets are not just busy work. They are helpful in reinforcing the material without being overwhelming. There are also optional activities, including art projects or watching a video. I think this is helpful to reach a variety of learning styles. Every 5th day is a review of the week. In the front of the teacher guide is a schedule, and in the back there is an answer key and a variety of maps. It is a well-organized and well-written course.
I am so excited to share this course with my daughter. I’m looking forward to the wonderful things we are going to learn together and the amazing discussions that we will have as we learn. I think this is an excellent course for high school students (and parents, too), especially those who feel called to missions.

World Geography and Cultures (Student Guide) is not a dry geography curriculum. With stunning visuals, this guide is based on a biblical worldview which emphasizes the creation of the world by God and land formations resulting from the judgment of the Flood. Students will learn about each continent, country, and region - including culture, language, people groups, government, religious beliefs, economic status, and landforms - through a variety of activities - map drawing, reading, photographic and graph data observation, reading comprehension questions, and a variety of projects that students can choose based on their individual learning styles/interests. A missions emphasis comes through as people groups are studied and personal application and encouragement is included for the student to pray about the world (Prayer Points) and their involvement in spreading the gospel in it. The option to research Christian missionaries and ministries enhances this missions emphasis. As characteristic, this curriculum has Master Book’s trademark ease of open and go use with each day’s activities listed clearly in the teacher guide, which is needed to complete 1-credit of geography coursework with review questions for each lesson, blank maps to complete daily map assignments, and answer keys. For those purchasing the digital versions, it may be helpful to print out the map section and put it in a binder for ease of completion throughout the course. The digital version also helps with enlarging pictures, especially those with the magnifying glass for closer observation. A variety of ways are presented for students to explore each day’s topic further - appealing to different interest levels and learning styles - but do not need to be completed in order to receive the full credit for this course per the discussion with the authors posted on the Master Books app. Explanation of world religions is included as well as information on the persecution of Christians. Historical timelines throughout show the progress of civilization in each region. Updated information makes this curriculum very relative to current events and provides the student with brilliant maps and cultural/historical background. I am excited for my high schooler to start this next year and think it is flexible enough to pair well with geographies from Master Books for the younger grades as matching sections in each book could be done at the same time for family style without necessarily going in order of the book. Pairing this with a world history curriculum, especially the newly released World History Encyclopedia by Master Books, would make an even more enhanced learning experience. I am super excited about this resource from Master Books!

Good geography from a Biblical worldview.
I am very picky when it comes to a geography curriculum and I am loving this course!
To start with, I am not a fan of books that say this is where this country is, the capital, and the population. That tells me nothing about the country. What I love about this course is how it goes into the GDP, religions, governmental rule and landscape of each country. Not only does it show the topography and the weather, but how that effects the residents, crop growth, travel, and how it all effects the culture. The teachers guide adds to all the information. There are fill in the blank and multiple choice questions, but also critical thinking questions and multiple options with a blank for the parent/teacher to choose which extra bit of research is done about each country, as well as, when it is due. That is flexible for the overachieving student, but can be easily modified for the struggling student.
The student reader is full of information in addition to tons of full color pictures of each country, the land and the people. It is a book worth to have on the shelf. (This is a book to have a physical book for as the PDF does not do all the color pictures justice.)
I enjoyed reading the student book, but the Teacher Guide adds to the depth of the course for the student to learn beyond the pages.

I am so excited about this new World Geography and Cultures course for highschool students! Right now my kids are only 10 and under, but as I've been homeschooling I've personally become more and more fascinated with geography as I learn alongside my kids so I got this resource for me so that I could dig deeper and learn more for myself along the way.
I've also found that the book is very well organized and easy to use as a reference resource for my students during the elementary years. We have used it to look up more information for countries we have studied in the elementary curriculum and to fill in gaps for countries that are not in the elementary curriculum. Recently, we were studying the ancient Persian empire and Souza which is in Iran. Because of all the world events going on we definitely wanted to find out more about this country. I also love that there is a prayer guide at the end of each section the end so we can pray knowledgeably for the people of the world in the different regions.
As a high school course, the textbook and the teacher's guide work beautifully together with lots of opportunities for extension activities and suggestions for digging deeper specific to your students' interests so definitely check out the Teacher's Guide as well

This World Geography and Cultures set was much needed! I had such a hard time finding a great curriculum for my oldest, then BAM… Master Books came out with this amazing set! I was thrilled to dig into it and absolutely love it. It keeps with Master Books goal of keeping God at the center of everything they do and produce. I cannot wait for my younger 3 to get to this course in their own homeschool journeys. The pictures are amazing throughout. The information even more so. I love the blend of maps and how geography can affect everything from culture to the economy and HOW that works for each area studied. The layout is easy to follow along with and teacher guide question worksheets are a fantastic way to reinforce what students are learning, but no matter how you choose to do geography, the main book is well worth having on your shelf.

First thing to note is how bright and colorful this book is, it is not a boring text book! The book is written in a simple easy to understand way, almost conversational. The text follows a logical pattern for each region being studied. Each region starts with an introduction, maps and key geological features. Then subsequent days go into economy, religion/culture and a timeline chart of key events along with prompts to thank God and pray, in the Pray Points section! This book is beautifully done, the photos, maps and charts are all arranged in a visually pleasing way that keeps you engaged in the material. This book does a great job keeping you interested, especially for students that find this area of study boring! Paired with the teacher guide this is a full high school geography course.

Our family cannot wait to get started on this course! The student book is absolutely beautiful and full of so much information and color.I am overwhelmed with all of the wonderful information about each country and how organized it is displayed, I am sure my child is going to come out of this course with a lot of knowledge.
The teachers guide has everything you need, daily assignments, maps to label and review exercises on day 5 which can be used for assessment purposes, quizzes or grading. Reading is assigned in the student book each day along with a worksheet which includes mapping. I really enjoy the extra assignments on the back of each worksheet that are up to the teacher to assign, but are more in-depth research, videos or other assignments to enrich your child's learning. I get excited just reading these, I may some of them alongside them!

As a homeschool mom of a high school student, I’m always looking for curriculum that my child can handle independently, and MasterBooks World Geography worked really well for us in that regard. My son completed most of this course on his own, which was a huge help in our busy schedule.
From what he shared, the lessons were straightforward and easy to follow without a lot of extra explanation from me. He liked that they weren’t overly long or overwhelming, and I appreciated that he stayed consistent with it without needing much prompting. He also mentioned that it went beyond just maps and included interesting information about cultures and different parts of the world, which kept it from feeling boring.

This is a fantastic course for high school geography! The pictures are beautiful and the information is in depth enough to keep the student engaged without being overwhelmed. I love how there are only two pages of the workbook to be done daily to reiterate what has been read and the ability to dive deeper into a topic with optional assignments. This gives the student the ability to engage more on what interests them about a certain aspect of the lesson. This course is so interesting that I want to do it myself!

The new geography course is wonderful. It's biblically based, very informative and hands on. It provides apologetics. The course is easy to read and understand. It's also is engaging. The textbook provides great pictures and colorful maps. I love everything about it. I'm very grateful for this new geography course. It will prepare the students well for college and even life.

This turns geography into an adventure! Each lesson opens the door to new countries, cultures, and landscapes while pointing back to God’s amazing design of our world. It’s engaging, eye-opening, and makes exploring the globe feel exciting and meaningful.
