Spring Break 2015 was supposed to be spent lying on the white sand beaches of Mexico sipping fruity cocktails with my friends and my boyfriend, Heath. Instead, I found myself single and flying back home to San Francisco to spend it with my mother, her new boyfriend and his son, Linc.

Linc or as my friends like to call him ‘Forbidden’ is my future stepbrother and the one person who can get under my skin unlike anyone else.

We all call him Forbidden because, like the fruit in The Garden of Eden, Linc, is gorgeous, tempting and completely untouchable.

I've hated the arrogant jerk for as long as I can remember. But a week alone together followed by a drunken bet leads me onto a path that once taken there is no turning back.

Let's see...

- Immature and one-dimensional characters? CHECK
- Stilted dialogue? CHECK
- Annoying inner monologue? CHECK
- Simplistic and uninspired prose? CHECK

This was a pretty short read, but I still had to put it down a few times because the main female character annoyed the ever loving eff out of me. The hero wasn't any better, IMO. He was a major douche. There is also the lack of chemistry between the two main characters, plus, dialogue was laughable and characterizations are just eye-roll worthy.

Safe to say I did not enjoy this one at all. I would go as far to say that I couldn't even find anything positive about this story. It did inspire me to name a shelf IDGAF in honor of my general feelings for the book.

This was a quick and fun read. Even though it's called Forbidden, it really didn't have any real taboo feeling to it.

Raven is summoned home to San Francisco by her mother for a family announcement meaning she has to forgo her summer break in Mexico with her boyfriend to spend it at home instead. Said boyfriend breaks up with her at the very beginning because of it - not such a cool boyfriend after all. Raven's mom has gone through many men since her divorce but she soon finds out that the new one, a pro golfer, is sticking around and that he and his son, Linc, have moved into the house. When her mom spontaneously decides to go away with her new guy while he plays on tour, she finds herself left alone in the house with Linc. Raven knows his reputation - he's hot as hell, supposedly highly gifted in bed and a one nighter kind of guy that goes through women faster than a speeding bullet. Theirs is most definitely a love/hate relationship. One night while drunk with her friend Tessa, they make a bet over a stupid prize if Raven can get him into her bed before she blows town and heads back to school at the end of the week. The rest of the book is a back and forth between Raven and Linc and her setting out to make sure she wins the bet. Needless to say, the bet doesn't turn out to be as uncomplicated as she thought it would be and when Linc finds out the truth, he's none too happy. Add a little bit of unexpected news from her mom, and the story of Raven and Linc ends on not so good note leading straight into book 2.

While I liked it (especially in the mind space I'm in right now) I would've enjoyed a little more talk with the two of them going back and forth - that's what I love the most about love/hate relationships but all in all it was enough for me to dive into book 2.

So 3.45 * Stars which would've been higher if the tension in the house was higher!

Forbidden book 1
1⭐ This is the lowest I've rated ever before. But had I known these things I wouldn't have read it!
This isn't about the writing style, that I really enjoyed I had fun until particular moments..

I'm really really pissy now.. (Glad to see I've calmed down over the night..)
I'll explain why but remember it's spoiling.. So Raven is drunk and wants to get laid with Nathan they start going further then making out Linc barges in the room to stop it.. Then he brings a f*cking girl home to bang ( Raven stops it). Then they get laid because she made a bet ., but feels bad so Raven doesn't take the gift. Then Raven comes home to hearing him bang a chick and he's mad because she interrupted and is then hurt when he hears about the bet? So then it looks like she's the bad one, while he was fucking another one.. Fucking asshole! I hope you get a nasty STD!!! No effin way this gets more stars from me! I hate it!!

Stepbrother Danielle jamie
Forbidden and Untouchable by Danielle Jamie (The Stepbrother Series)
New Adult Novellas that do not stand alone.
Forbidden by Danielle Jamie  is my first stepbrother book. The whole stepbrother theme seems so overdone that I never got interested. But I wanted to read Danielle Jamie. I have heard so many great things about her work that when I saw this series on audible, I jumped on it.

The first two, Forbidden and Untouchable , that I am reviewing here, are novellas, and they pretty much leave you hanging at the end, but not too bad. It leaves off in a good spot. The third book, Rapture , is a full length novel that I hear is amazing but a total tearjerker. It isn't out in audio yet, so I have only heard the first two.

Raven is on Spring Break. All of her friends, including her boyfriend, went to Cabo, but her mom called her home, prompting her boyfriend to break up with her. Her mom has been dating Linc's dad for a while, but Raven is really hoping her mom didn't call her home to tell her they were moving in together. Because she really can't stand Linc, despite how gorgeous he is.

So her mom, who made her come home, decides to tell her they are getting married, and then leaves to go away, leaving her to spend the week at home with Linc. Linc's nickname is 'Forbidden' among her friends because you know she can't go there, but a drunken bet is made, and well....one thing leads to another. Just once.

And it's HOT.
"I can't believe we're doing this,"
"Believe it, Spitfire. If you can't believe it, I'll make sure you effing feel it."

Turns out, Linc, despite his playboy ways, is a pretty good guy (except for one scene that really, really pissed me off). As much as Raven didn't want to, she sees it too.

My feelings about Forbidden are kind of torn. The characters are very immature, even less than their ages. They are spoiled little rich kids and the parents are assholes for leaving them after making her come home. The female narrator was OK, but just OK. The inner monologue was annoying. But I also needed to know what happens, I was invested enough, so I grabbed book two immediately. (I was not aware this was a cliffhanger series :(  )

Untouchable is from Linc's POV, and begins 3 months later. The couple have not seen or spoken to each other in 3 months. Unfortunately for me, the narrator really ruined this for me. While he had a decent voice, he couldn't read. He pronounced words wrong, accentuated the wrong parts of sentences, and read parts as if there were periods instead of commas.

But I liked this story a little more. I liked the emotional connection that developed.

But quite honestly, the fact that Linc was mad for three months over a silly thing kind of pissed me off, because I thought what he did was WAY FUCKING worse and honestly pretty unforgivable, but there was no denying the spark between the two.

They were there for the wedding. It was official. And they fought the feelings that neither could deny. But it was a losing battle.
"I'm going to fuck you bare. My first and my last fuck without any barriers. I need to feel you baby, all of you as you come on my cock...I may not be able to have you after tonight, but you and I will both remember this night, and remember giving ourselves fully to one another."

There was plenty of heat in this one, but it was also pretty heartbreaking that they couldn't be together.
“Sometimes loving each other isn't enough”

Likes:

•Danielle Jamie knows how to write a compelling story that makes you need to know what happens next.
•Hot sex.
•Some funny lines.
•You were able to feel the characters falling in love.

Dislikes:

•The audiobook narrators. The first one (Raven) was OK, but the second (Linc) was just awful. He couldn't read, accentuate or pronounce things correctly.
•The characters were basically immature little rich snots with parents who are no better.
•What Linc did after the first encounter was unforgivable, yet it was made out like Raven was the bad one.

The Down and Dirty:
This is a hard one for me to judge. First of all, it's nearly impossible to separate the story from the narration, and the narration was just...not good, especially Untouchable. I can see Danielle is a good story teller, but the characters felt very young, snooty and immature to me. However, I was compelled to listen despite the narrator, and even though I didn't love the characters, I really want to see them together. I have heard amazing things about Rapture, the third book in the series, and if it was available on audio when I finished Untouchable, I would have immediately downloaded it despite the narrators. For me though, I don't switch from audio to reading mid series, and I'm not sure I will still be interested by the time Rapture is out on audio.
I will definitely read more from this author, hopefully about slightly older characters, or at least more mature.
Bottom line: If you like New Adult Stepbrother books, I think you will enjoy this very much, but skip the audio and read it.

I have become a little addicted to these stepbrother books ... I love a good taboo fling/romance.

Raven just got dumped, why because her mother insisted she come home for spring break and her douchebag boyfriend didn't want to come with her and give up his spring break in Cabo. So Raven returns home to discover that her mothers new flavor of the month and his son are moving in. Linc, the step-brother, or "Forbidden" as her friend calls him is 2 years older than Raven, hot, and completely a thorn in her side. When Raven's mom takes off for the week with her new man to watch his golf tournament, things get heated between these two. Tessa, Raven's best friend sees the way the two look at each other when they think no one is looking, trys to nudge her toward "forbidden" and bets Raven that she can't get him into bed before she leaves.

Sparks fly, Tension is high, Emotions get involved, and drunk ramblings spill truths that were never meant to be heard. Will Raven take the bet ... will she get Linc in bed ??

"I can't believe we're doing this,"
"Believe it, Spitfire. If you can't believe it, I'll make sure you effing feel it."

This book had me on the edge of my seat and I can not wait to see what happens in the next one !!!

Lawd this is yet another amazingly HOTTTTT read by Danielle!!!! I was lucky enough to get to beta read this and so glad I did. This novella is a fun hot as hell read that definitely going to leave you begging for more.

I absolutely love Raven and her spit fire mouth. Linc is a complete jerk, but a jerk I absolutely love! When Raven goes home for spring break only to find out her moms new flavor of the month and his son have moved in, she is not happy. Linc is a player like no other. One drunken night Raven and her best friend Tess make a bet to see if Raven can sleep with this Forbidden sex legend! Will Ravens attempt to seduce Linc help her get over the attraction she has to him or leave her wanting more?

Danielle Jamie does it again!
Loved this story! Its a quick read that definitely leaves you hot and bothered.

Raven is a little spitfire who can't stand her possible soon to be stepbrother's cockiness. And won't take any of he crap!
Linc is the as#hole possible soon to be stepbrother. Who seems to just live to get under Ravens skin.
Spring break in the same house, parents out of town, a bet with her best friend and some serious sexual tension makes for a story that you can't put down.
I really wanted to hate Linc but I couldn't help falling for "The sex god of San Francisco!!!

I LOVED THIS BOOK!

This was the first book written by this author that I've read.
And I friking loved it! I myself am a bit addicted to stepbrother stories and was very cautiously 'stepping' into Forbidden. So unnecessary!
I read this in one day. More like a couple of hrs. I couldn't stop reading! The book just kept me wanting more and more and more till it gave me exactly what I was waiting for.
It was so hot and I for once fell for that cocky, arrogant, sexy manwhore thing that Linc radiated.

Until... yeah... you have to read it to see it yourself ;)

I received this for an honest review.. I'm telling this is FREAKING HOT!!! Once I picked this up I couldn't put it down.. This is a sexy short hotness. Raven and Linc's parents are dating/living together. Raven comes home from spring break to spend time with her mother only to have (the parents) take off leaving Raven and Link (FORBIDDEN) home by themselves.. HOLY FREAKING HOTNESS.. I need the next book like REAL SOON!!!!!!

It was an easy and quick read. Nothing to deep but still interesting enough to hold my attention. I have never read any thing by Danielle before. I am obviously a fan of the taboo plots. There were a few grammatical/spelling errors.

I liked the characters. I felt their connection. I understood the conflict and the forbidden aspect of their relationship.

I got what I expected.

Danielle Jamie wows the world again with another wonderfully wicked, witty, and delight of a book! Holy hot and heavy step-brother! Forbidden is so super sexy and sinful. Pure addiction.

You'll want to devour this delicious book in one sitting...which I did. I was filled with angst, happiness, sadness, and anger. I wanted to throat-punch a certain step-brother a few times. Yes, another step-brother book, but it's a must-read!

Here are some tips for when you have a date with one of Danielle's books:

1) Have a pair of spare panties on hand, because her books will melt yours right off!
2) Scratch # 1, and make that two spare sets of panties as her writing is 'pee your pants' funny.
3) Grab your tissues and maybe a punching bag for one of the best emotional roller coaster rides of your life, as your book world will be rocked!

Linc is one of my best book boyfriends and Forbidden is the hottest stepbrother book I've read so far!

Someone took a giant dump on what was supposed to be Raven's best Spring Break ever: Cabo, the beach, cocktails, and lots of hot sex with a cute boyfriend. That. did. not. happen. Instead, beautiful and spitfire Raven, who could so be Emma Stone's doppelganger, is stuck at home with her oh-so-panty-melting-hot new step-brother after her mom and his dad ditched them for their own romantic getaway.

Forbidden, like the title, is naughty and oh-so-tempting. Forbidden is also her and her BFF's nickname for her new and panty-melting hot step-brother, Linc. He, like the fruit in the Garden of Eden, is Forbidden. Gorgeous. Bedroom Legend. Untouchable. Off Limits.

'My body needs to get its shiz together. We do not like Linc. So just stop. Stop right now, whatever it is my [girl parts] think it wants. Because no way in hell am I going anywhere near that. His dad is banging my mom. It's wrong on so many levels that I'm even picturing Linc naked right now.'

Raven wants to hate Linc. She wants her traitorous body to hate Linc. He may be The Sex God of San Francisco, and an Adonis, but he's most arrogant arsehole of an Adonis Raven has ever met.

He's off limits. Until a drunken bet changes everything. Mission Seduce Forbidden is in full effect.

"I'm not sure you can handle me, Spitfire. Once I start, I don't stop--so you better think long and hard about what you're asking me."

What starts out as a bet with a fine or blurred line between the player and the 'played' gets messy. The game gets real. Lines are not only blurred, but crossed.

'It's my fault. I knew how he was, and still I went after the Forbidden fruit, and now had to pay the price.'

5 forbidden but fabulous stars

2.5 stars

I started reading this book and I was bored for the first 3 or 4 chapters when Raven went on about her mother and father, her mothers boyfriends and school. I was ready to QUIT this book.

Then the book picked up a bit by chapter 5 or 6.

This book was below average.

Raven and her friend were a little immature. There was quite a lot of inner monologue. The dialogue was ok, not cheesy but nothing really snappy.
There was no chemistry between Raven and Linc, none whatsoever.

I am not buying the next book

Four Forbidden Stars

Linc and Raven what a pair they have quite the love hate relationship. Do you or don't you have wild sex as in the one night stand variety. But more importantly do you have sex with your mom's live in boyfriends son? I can't decide if that's a question or a statement after reading this book.

This is the first Danielle Jamie book I have read and I have to day I enjoyed it a lot. It gets my four star stamp of approval. I was never bored reading. I laughed out loud a time or two. And the sex was HOT. Last but not least at the end my heart went bump, bump.......

I look forward to reading on about these to soon to be step siblings.

Hold on to your panties, because Forbidden is going to take you on a wild, sexy, angst-filled ride. Kudos to Danielle Jamie for writing another amazing read that will have you wishing for a step-brother like Linc.

I was thoroughly impressed with Forbidden; it was laugh-out-loud funny, engaging, and sexy. It was a page turner for sure. And, I finished it in a matter of a couple of hours.

I found myself emotionally connected to the characters, Linc and Raven. I was rooting for them, wondering if they would both realize what was right in front of their faces. They definitely teeter on the edge of a love/hate relationship. I loved that Raven held her own when it came to Linc. Oh and Linc is just one gorgeous man with some assholish tendencies. Haha! But, I loved him.

This book is what I call a slow burn-It starts to heat up slowly, sizzling with each page you turn, and then the inferno ignites; which has you biting your lip, clenching your thighs, and begging for one night with Linc or your favorite vibrator!

I can’t wait for more Linc! He will drive you bat-shit crazy at times, but I promise you’ll fall head-over-heels in love with him at the same time. This is a story that leaves you begging for more! If you haven’t read Forbidden, pick this one up! You won’t regret it. ;)

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. This book is really good, it shows a side of when does the hurter become the hurty. Tess knew the guy her mom was dating has a hot son but she also knows he is forbidden hence the nick name.

Linc has always been a jerk to her so when she does things just to get back at him she usually doesn't feel bad about it. However when it looks like there is a possibility that they could become real family she isn't sure what to do. Sure she is attracted to him until he opens his mouth. The other problem she has is Liam is known for being with a woman only once and then never speaking to them again. If she did do anything how would that effect the family dynamic?

This book is good it is quick because it is just then entro into this series. I think that there are things that are done in this book that I don't understand in a way. Like her best friend keeps pushing her to be with forbidden even though she knows his track record and the chance that he could become her step brother soon. You would think a best friend would want to keep their friend from that kind of heart ache. I am anxious to see where this story-line will go next. You know this will not be the end but only the beginning.

My 1st ever stepmother read and I'm hooked

I loved this book. The characters are easily relatable as well as the story line. Raven comes home for spring break to discover her mothers boyfriend has moved in along with his totally Forbidden son, Linc! When both their parents leave for the week leaving them alone, you wouldn't think much could happen. Yeah right! Tension rises and a bet between best friends is made. Will Raven win the bet as well as her months supply of coffee, yet be able to make it out without her heart full of mixed emotions? You'll just have to read to find out!

I'm totally in love with the asshole, Forbidden, known as Linc! You wouldn't have to give me anything to be able to share a bed with him. I would be owing you!

I gave this book 5 stars!

When you think about step brother your thinking it's a taboo read...This nothing like that. This book will make you laugh and smile because of the antics of Linc and Raven.

I love how Danielle draws you into her characters and makes you feel there emotions.

Linc is the son of Ravan's mom new boyfriend. They know each other but don't hang in the same circles. After a breakup Raven goes home to find that she has to spend a week with Linc alone. On a drunken bet she she seduces Linc. Will Linc and Raven be able to sleep together and move on or will it end bad?

I'm patiently waiting for the next one in this series.

I liked this quick read more
than I thought I would. The
dynamics between Linc and
Raven are believable.

I don't usually like to read books
where OW are implied, and for
that matter OM. Both Linc and
Raven like to play the field. Raven
is coming out of a heartbreaking
relationship and Linc is there
for her. But make no mistake
Linc is a player and he is going
to be a tough one to break!!

I am going to read the entire series
because it is a quick read and it
has held my interest, but I have
to say that it is out of normal
range of what I like to read, with
the other partners involved.

Eh, I had a hard time getting into these characters. I don't know if I needed to read the first book (since this was a 1.5), but either way it just didn't take off for me. I found Linc to be a complete jerk and Raven was looking to replace the boyfriend she just lost. Not to forbidden since they are both adults and their parents aren't even married. They do the "I don't like you" song and dance for a few chapters before finally hooking up.

The book did have some steamy sex scenes, unfortunately it wasn't enough to carry it for me.

I absolutely love this book! Raven and Linc are caught up in a whirl-wind of events out of their control. It's a journey to see how strong they are and how love is more important than what people think. This is unlike any step-brother book I have ever read but so very good. Have tissues ready and a significant other bc you will need both!!
