I LOVE A MERRY ..... ah, BOOK, right, BOOK.
And this one stars a merry widow, and a kilted kirk-going Scot. Plus a few of her friends leftover from previous books in the series.
The interactions of the characters made me laugh a lot, and made me cry a little. The merry widow's love of the life around her came through very clearly, as did the duke's love of the life around him. The challenge: the life she loves is wine, parties, and song. He, on the other hand, loves his country, and has determined that he MUST behave in totally proper fashion, as designated by the preacher.
The characters are wonderful, conflicted, and flawed. Each has scars, and each has fears, and, most importantly, each has protective walls.
The breaking of the walls, and maturation of the relationship, is what makes this book wonderful to read.
