I went in for HiFreakkaru x Yoshiki content and came out questioning my every belief about what is normalcy in human experiences, forms of grief and the allowances one makes for humans and those who are not quite human.

I'd only heard stuff before this...but Japanese horror really is jst smth else...

The story begins with our boy Hikaru dies in a ditch and a "monster", wearing his body, passes himself off as him peak identity theft gets caught by Yoshiki who has had longtime feelings for his "best friend" (cuz theres gotta be Yaoi...mmm horrory Yaoi...)

All this divulged into a bunch of teenagers trying to close up otherworldly tears in their universe so that no more dead souls can use the real people souls WHILE questioning themselves if the "Hikaru" monsters really is that bad and just how much of human nature can they expect him to understand. Can you really trust the monster wearing the face of deceased loved one?

How similar are the monsters outside to the ones inside us? And just how different?

Side note- After reading this volume, I'm pretty sure about one thing... Authornim woke up and chose pain and suffering for us innocent innocent readers...

ps. i reaally appreciated the author's speech on Yoshiki and Hikaru's relationship, they are special precisely because it is difficult to define them, but despite this, they are both learning to accept themselves in their difficulties. i love them 😭

La historia entre el volumen 7 y el 8 se mantiene súper interesante. La verdad es que al principio me costaba entender un poco toda la trama, pero estos últimos volúmenes se me hacen menos densos y súper entretenidos.

Me parece fuertísimo que la mujer tenga como hijo al de las gafas de sol (ayuda se me da tan mal acordarme de los nombres). Me da que pensar que el chico de las gafas de sol tuvo una especie de espíritu en algún momento pero que en la compañía se lo sacaron (?
Y bueno rezando estoy porque Hikaru pueda volver con Yoshiki 😭🙏. Cuando parecía que todo estaba yendo bien las cosas han dado un giro de 180° y ahora de repente todo va peor.
Al pobre Yoshiki se le ve traumado. Me da a mí que la historia va a acabar muy mal para él.

Me ha parecido muy adorable y tristísimo que Yoshiki haya podido abrirse y decir que tenía sentimientos por el verdadero Hikaru (que absolutamente todos lo sabíamos ya, pero bueno, no está de más JAJSJSJ).

Y la verdad no sé qué pensar sobre absolutamente nada. Cada volumen que leo me quedo más “qué🗿” que con el anterior. Cosa que me encanta, porque no se si esperarme un final bonito, un final filosófico (tipo: hay que aprender a dejar ir), un final horrible, un final pacífico o de muerte y destrucción. Que ganas de descubrir cómo se sigue desarrollando todo esto. Espero que la historia dure muchísimo tiempo más, y que hagan muchas más temporadas de anime 🙏.

yoshiki watching 'hikaru' take the life of a child in order to fufill yoshiki's wish hurts sm knowing that he's been trying to accept 'hikaru' for the monster he is. it's just going to make him think that his acceptance has been a mistake all alongㅠㅠ.

But seriously, I really love how Yoshiki feels like he is being saved when he is with "Hikaru." He stops caring about what is supposed to be "normal." He wants a place to belong with "Hikaru." And, I'm so proud of Yoshiki for coming out to Asako for being in love with og Hikaru! He is finally opening up without getting scared of being judged. Also, I love how supportive Asako is of Yoshiki and telling him he isn't gross for his feelings! My babies😭

Plus the Hikaru's concept of life, body and soul, that part had me in deep thoughts it really was portrayed so melancholicaly beautiful.

My heart almost sank when for a moment Yoshiki's mom had forgotten about him at all maybe because of keep mixing with hikaru he's slowly fading away from everyone's memories. Maybe that's the end of this manga....

AND UGH THAT KUREBAYASHI STUPID WOMAN i believed in her but i shouldn't now Hikaru's in pieces and the company has got him I'm so freaking worried.... And it wasn't as surprising finding she's that guy's mother i kinda saw that coming....

Last but not least Yoshiki cut his hair & he was looking more confident of course he was handsome before and now but it feels like he's not scared anymore.

no but in all seriouesness these vols are actually fcking tragic i feel so horrible whenever i read them bs fym yoshiki never had the chance to say how he felt and never will and even if he did, hikaru would find him disgusting
i hate when ppl water down these books to just BL cus then again it IS that deep and it always comes down to the difference between being gay and being queer and omg these books represent comphet perfectly.
also its pretty damn clearr throughout the series that yoshiki is gay and had feelings for the human hikaru but ngl in the way that manga is i dont think ANYBODY thought it was gna be canon at all. but the amount of hints showing yoshikis internal disgust and homophobia are so sad i actually cant especially one of the parts where yoshiki notices a crucifix around a mans neck and slowly leavs :(((((
