The third installment of this great series has the now-reknowned Bear Whitman settled down, on the wagon, and mostly trying to get out of the detective game when he is suddenly forced into solving a high-stakes murder case at the Indianapolis 500. This book continues in the tightly-spun, snappy style of it's predecessors and features a slightly more-evolved version of our hero -- who, fortunately, has lost none of his wit, charm, and ability to deliver a good wisecrack when necessary. A good detective adventure in the veign of Columbo or Fletch with the light, fun feel of a movie-of-the week event.
