The Morrowdeep Wyrm #1

All the Wyrm's a Stage

Cozy fantasy fans, welcome to the sleepy village of Morrowdeep, where the hob bakes honeyed crème whirls, a wyrm is rebuilding a theater, and the fae mayor is only slightly corrupt.

Potipher is a wyrm -- the "descendant from a dragon" kind, not the "lives in the mud" kind. Well, sort of. He did live in a musty burrow, but now he's arrived in Morrowdeep.

And he's brought explosives with him.

See, Potipher has a dream, and that dream involves transforming the crumbling old theater into something magnificent. And every good transformation starts with an explosion.

Joining Potipher on his quest to rebuild the town theater are a bookworm fae moonlighting as a casting director, an orc who loves constructing buildings almost as much as he loves blowing them up, and a traveling theater troupe led by an only slightly pretentious actress.

Grab a cup of tea, a cinnamon bun, and read as Potipher and his band of lovable misfits contend with ghosts in the rafters, a tax-loving mayor (is there any other kind?), and a lead actor that believes having a loud voice is the same thing as giving a great performance.

What an absolutely beautiful story about moving on after a profound loss. This heartfelt tale seamlessly mixes fantastical whimsy that will have you grinning like a toothy dragon one moment, then reaching for a box of tissues during its most emotional and memorable passages the next. The story is playful, joyous, and warm, but it does not diminish the pain that the main character, Potipher, lives with as he lays (more like blasts) the foundation for a future of friendship, hope, and the THEATER! Memorable and fun characters, the delightful village of Morrowdeep, and real emotional stakes… this book is a gem. I’m ready for book 2!
