Sycamore Falls

Tempted by the Nanny

Rate this book
I’m the nanny for a broody single dad.
And the heart keeping me alive?
It belonged to his late wife.

Working as a nanny for Dr. Hayden Lawrence was supposed to be simple. Keep my head down, take care of his adorable kids, and absolutely do not notice the way his rolled-up sleeves make me weak in the knees.

I’m sunshine.
He’s a broody doctor.

I believe in saying yes to things that scare me.
He believes in control, order, and never loving again.

We are complete opposites.

But living together has a way of blurring lines.

Late-night talks in the kitchen.
Lingering touches when he hands me the baby.
The way his daughter wraps her arms around my waist like I already belong.

Falling for him was never part of the plan.

Neither was learning the heart beating inside my chest once belonged to his late wife.

If I tell him my second chance at life began with his worst nightmare, it could shatter the fragile peace he’s fought so hard to rebuild.

I’m not sure which is more terrifying… Losing him, or asking him to gamble his heart on a future that’s anything but certain.

Tempted by the Nanny is a small town, off-limits single dad romance. Grab this book if you love:

* a broody widower who swore he’d never love again
* a sunshine nanny who lives like tomorrow isn’t guaranteed
* forbidden, slow-burn tension under one roof

Hayden and Rowan's story hits you right in the feels! It contains every type of emotion you can think of. There are themes of grief, guilt, sadness, loneliness. But also, happiness, hope, fun, lightness, inspiration. I laughed, I cried, I rode the emotional rollercoaster all the way until the very end!

Hayden is the quintessential grumpy older man to Rowan's younger shining light. It is understandable that Hayden is the way he is, struggling to raise two young children alone after suddenly losing his wife, something he blames himself for. When Rowan shows up to apply for a nanny position and he feels something towards another woman for the first time since his wife's death, he doesn't know how to react, so he falls back on his standard gruffness. It doesn't take long for Rowan to sneak past his defenses, though.

Tracy does a great job of navigating the waters of how someone who has lost a loved one deals with the feelings they have when someone new enters their lives. The struggles they have with guilt for thinking about moving on, guilt for feeling any happiness. How they deal with outside forces who act like someone should be in mourning for the rest of their lives. There was no love lost on Hayden's father in law, that man was insufferable!

As emotional as this story is, dealing with such heavy themes, there are plenty of light and happy moments as well. The family dinners with all of his siblings. How quickly Hayden's children fell for Rowan, and how instrumental she was in bringing Presley out of her shell. The way Rowan was so quickly adopted into the Lawrence family as an honorary member. The fun conversations between Rowan and her best friend Emily.

I wasn't sure how this story was going to end, but I was very happy with how everything turned out! The epilogue was so beautiful, and I already can't wait for the two upcoming books that were announced at the end.

Tracy Leigh brings to the reading table a heartwarming tale with Tempted by the Nanny.
Never let it be said that this author does not only know how to spin the reader's spirit in circles. If there is one thing she can do it IS that. But she is also so very good at giving us the angst and the doubt before the joyous celebration we need in the end.

If you are looking for something a little different, this could be your story. Not only are there immediate connections, but there’s also the intrigue, the kept secrets, the missed moments, the hot moments, oh heck there are SO MANY MOMENTS! And center to it all is the faction of the family. Maybe not how you might picture it, but it is there none the less.

Life in Sycamore Falls is nothing if not interesting. But sometimes making a move to a smaller town is just what the spirit needs. For Dr Hayden Lawrence, the change is more of a mixed bag.
Reality has a way of testing the resolve of the best. Being that single dad only makes for more interesting adventures. Rowan may be the nanny, but appreciation of her beating heart will have you swooning from the start. She is adorable, compelling, calming and her spirit is a gift that many never saw coming yet cannot understand how they lived without.

Heartwarming is too simple a description for this story. Tracy always brings the deep thoughts to the forefront. With this book, she definitely does. Yet, the underlying love shown with each character will have you smitten from beginning to end.

Tempted by the Nanny is part of the Sycamore Falls series, and while they can be read alone, you definitely will be going back to see how this saga started. Five stars are too few for this success story but being able to appreciate it will fill your spirit with light for days to come.

Very Well Done, Tracy Leigh!

I love everything TK Leigh writes as she is the queen of suspense, but I am finding out her writings as Tracey Leigh are every bit as good as her suspense books. Just when I think the current book of hers is my favorite, she goes and releases the next in the series and that quickly becomes my favorite. You have Hayden who has lost everything and is left with 2 small children. He is grieving his wife and so is his daughter who refuses to speak. He is drowning and doesn't know how to get out of his despair. That is until he is literally ran into and his life is changed for ever. He can't stop thinking of her and wonders what is wrong with him. He shouldn't be feeling this way since his wife is gone but he just can't shake her. When he offers her a job to help him with his kids will the sparks fly or will he deny himself and continue to grieve his dead wife? Rowan has faced life or death and has decided to live her life like every day is her last. Its her year of "yes" and she is fully enjoying her life. Until she literally runs into Hayden. He is rude and grumpy and dismisses her with a scowl. Through fate she ends up at his house for a job interview to be a nanny for his two children. Immediately the kids respond to her and she decides to take the job, but then she finds out a secret that can ruin her new found life. When feelings start to grow will she take a chance on Hayden and his kids or will she run because she thinks her life has a time limit. This story is about moving on from unimaginable loss and realizing life is short that you have to live life to the fullest no matter how much time we have left. I read this in one day because I couldn't put it down.

I just finished this one, and honestly, it felt like the trope lineup was crafted just for me. You get a boss x nanny dynamic, forced proximity, and an age gap all rolled into one beautiful bookish package. We meet our MMC, Hayden, a widower who is completely stuck in his grief and basically wears it like a badge of honor. Then comes our FMC, Rowan, who is living by a strict “say yes” mantra after surviving a pretty major health scare. After her “rebirth,” she decided to abandon the rat race and truly live her life by buying a van, driving, wandering, and just embracing opportunities. You just can’t help but get invested in these characters and their journeys. Just be prepared to feel all the things!

This goes way beyond dealing with grief though. Rowan ends up getting Hayden ready to say yes to life too, showing him the importance of letting things go and chasing the things that bring him joy. And together, they both learn how to actually live again. There is this one incredibly truthful quote in the book that says, “It’s amazing how seemingly insignificant choices can drastically change the trajectory of your life” and it just completely stuck with me. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that Presley and Jemmy are cute, little scene stealers that totally add to the warm fuzzies. 🤗

While this isn’t the absolute best book that I’ve ever read, I really didn’t have any major complaints either. Was it super groundbreaking? Not really. A little predictable at times? Sure. But I still had a really good time with it. I mean the characters are just so incredibly likable and relatable. The romance is heartwarming and heartfelt. And at the end, I was left with a happy little smile. Solid 4 stars from me. ❤️

This story between Hayden and Rowan has all the feels!

Opposites (eventually) attract in this heartwarming story of a widowed father in search of a nanny who will be patient and understanding with his 7-year old daughter, Presley, who has gone nonverbal since her mother’s passing a little less than a year ago, and his full-of-energy toddler son, Jeremiah (Jemmy). Hayden was an ER doctor in Chicago before moving back to his and his late wife’s hometown to join a local medical practice. He’s a serious, structured individual, who’s struggling and failing to try and juggle work and his home life since Cora’s death.

Seeing as he’s gone through 5 Nannies in the last two months, he finally relents and agrees to meet someone his sister has recommended for the position. In comes Rowan, who’s young, vibrant and full of life, trying to convince a grumpy & defeated father that she’s the right person for this job. She’s definitely nothing like ANY of the prior nanny’s he’s hired, so against his skeptical judgment, he decides to give her a try. He figures if it doesn’t work out, he’ll just fire her too!

Things are off to a rocky start between Hayden & Rowan. Her approach to life is no where near Hayden’s carefully thought out ideals so it’s going to take a lot of convincing and trust to get Hayden to believe Rowan is the right fit for his children’s (and his) needs.

I read this book really quickly because it just flows so perfectly that you don’t want to put it down. The revelation that happens in this story was beautifully written. It was definitely a “What are the odds” type of situation that keeps you attached to every page. No hesitation whatsoever on my 5⭐️ rating. (I’d give it more if I could!!)

This was a beautiful and bittersweet story that left me hopeful. If you’re expecting the typical nanny and boss trope you are in for a surprise.

Rowan arrives in town and, in her “year of yes,” agrees to nanny for Hayden, a harried doctor, and his two young children. Hayden is sinking under the strain of expectations from his father in law and grief over the loss of his wife. Rowan is a bright spot in their lives and soon he can’t imagine life without her. But there is more tying Rowan and Hayden together than they realize.

This book was just absolutely wonderful. It was at times sweet, sexy, funny, heartbreaking and hopeful. The author did an incredible job of addressing issues that could have bogged the book down in despair, but instead managed to lifted it up to a gracious new beginning for the two main characters.

It was a definite risk, taking on the loss of a spouse, the grieving of a family and the hopefulness of a woman given another chance at life because of that heartbreak. The author did it with grace and honesty, even in the truth of Rowan’s transplant prospects.

I wasn’t expecting such a deep and emotional book, but I’m glad I read it. If you’re looking for a book that will give you absolutely all the feels, this one hits the mark beautifully. Highly recommended.

Review: Tempted by the Nanny
Author: T.K. Leigh (Tracy Leigh)
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Heart of the Story

I am currently nursing a massive book hangover, and Hayden and Rowan are entirely to blame. From the very first page, T.K. Leigh weaves a story that is as emotionally resonant as it is scorching hot. What starts as a professional arrangement quickly spirals into a "will-they-won't-they" that had me holding my breath.

• The Chemistry: The "forbidden" aspect of their relationship isn't just a trope here—it’s a living, breathing tension. The pull between Hayden and Rowan is magnetic, and when they finally give in, the payoff is worth every second of the build-up.

• The Emotional Stakes: Beyond the heat, there is a deep sense of vulnerability. Hayden’s complexity and Rowan’s heart make them characters you can't help but root for, even when the odds are stacked against them.

• The Writing: Leigh’s signature style—polished, emotive, and perfectly paced—kept me turning pages well into the night.

If you love a story filled with high stakes, undeniable chemistry, and a "forbidden" romance that feels earned, this is a must-read. Just be prepared: you won’t want to leave Hayden and Rowan’s world once the final chapter ends.

💛Heart, Spice and Heartbreaking Beauty in One Irresistible Read!

Oh my heart I LOVED every second of Tempted by the Nanny!
This book had me laughing, swooning and reaching for the tissues all at once.

Hayden Lawrence is the ultimate grumpy single dad and Rowan is pure sunshine …but their chemistry? Explosively hot. The slow-burn tension, steamy touches and forbidden moments had me swooning nonstop.

Watching Rowan’s heartbreaking connection to Cora, Hayden’s late wife, alongside her deep love for Jemmy and Presley, made every scene emotional and unforgettable.
I loved seeing Hayden stand up for himself, chase his dreams and open his heart.
His love gives Rowan the courage to stop living on borrowed time and embrace a future she never imagined.

T.K Leigh is a master at crafting characters that feel real, tender and wildly sexy, and her ability to blend heart-wrenching emotion with slow burn romance and sizzling chemistry makes this book impossible to put down.

👉If you love broody dads, fiery nannies, forbidden slow burns, emotional heartbreak and a love that’s spicy, swoon-worthy, life changing, and utterly heart-stealing, this book will take over your heart and refuse to let go.

I should have written this review days ago, but BOOK COMA!!! I read it in a day. I just couldn't put it down. It wasn't the typical falling for the nanny book. It was so much more. Rowan is in Sycamore Falls searching for pie. Yes, Pie!!! Hayden is back in Sycamore Falls needing help with his children.

Rowan looks at the bright side of everything after being given a second chance. Hayden walks around with a gray cloud hanging over his head. His only bright spots are his children, but he is failing them.

Rowan is the first person to reach his children. Rowan is the first person to bring sunshine to a grumpy Hayden. Rowan is my heroine, my inspiration. She is everything. Watching Hayden's walls crumble was the best. Watching his children find the light--so many tears of happiness and hope.

I was addicted to the story. I laughed. I cried. I absolutely fumed. The emotions climbed and climbed. The intensity, the pull towards a happily ever after had me on the edge of my seat. Kudos to Hayden for becoming a brilliant man with all the move.

4.5 "Yes" Stars!

I love Single Dad romance and Tracy nailed it with this one. I have to warn you that this is one heck of a emotional roller coaster. Buckle up, sit back and enjoy the ride, but don't forget your tissues. It is a beautiful story of Love and Loss. Watching Hayden open up, let his walls down and go after what he wants made my heart happy, especially after such a tragic loss. I loved how Rowan embraced life after her heart transplant; putting her workaholic life as a Lawyer aside, buying a van, traveling around experiencing new things, following her heart and forcing herself to say YES. I absolutely adored the relationship Rowan formed with Hayden's children, specifically Presley. Seeing Presley struggling and opening up was heartwarming. Now that Father-in-law, he was definitely something to be desired. I wanted to smack him, throw my kindle, scream at him - not only for Hayden, but Presley, what he put them through was truly despicable. It was well written and hard to put down. Shout out for the epilogue, simply PERFECT...

I absolutely love this series and Tracy Leigh just keeps proving why she’s an auto-read author for me. Tempted by the Nanny pulled me in from the start and did not let go.
We’ve got a broody single dad doctor (yes please), a sunshine nanny (also yes), and that slow, tension-filled build that I LIVE for. The chemistry? Off the charts. The quiet moments? Even better. Those late-night conversations and little touches had me completely invested.
But what really sets this one apart is the emotional depth. That twist with the heart transplant?? I was not prepared. It added such a layered, bittersweet element to the story that made everything feel more intense and fragile. You can feel the weight of grief, healing, and second chances in every chapter.
I loved watching Hayden slowly soften and seeing their connection grow into something neither of them expected but desperately needed.
This book is tender, emotional, and just the right amount of swoony.
I already can’t wait to see what Tracy Leigh gives us next! 💛

Pro tip for reading this book:

Don't do it while in public. You WILL ugly cry.

This was my very first Tracy Leigh book and just as with my first T.K. Leigh book I became an instant fan. Forever.

Temped by the Nanny sounds like a well written fun contemporary small town romance looking at the blurb. And it is that. But it is also so much more.
It will grab you and won't let go until it has squeezed every possible emotion out of you while taking you on a beautiful rollercoaster ride.

Right at the beginning of the book, Rowan thinks to herself that she is meant to be there with Hayden and the kids.
Let's just say after only a couple of chapters I KNEW I was MEANT to find and read their story.

Rowan and Hayden gave me everything I didn't know I needed to read right now.

This one will stay with me for a long time. I already know that!

20 out of 10 recommendation!

This book was such an emotional and heartwarming read that completely pulled me in from the start. Hayden and Rowan’s journey is filled with grief, healing, hope, and a beautiful slow-burn romance that felt both heartfelt and genuine. I loved the grumpy/sunshine dynamic between Hayden and Rowan, especially watching Rowan bring warmth and light back into Hayden’s life and the lives of his children. The emotional depth in this story was beautifully done, balancing heavy themes like loss and guilt with sweet family moments, humor, and undeniable chemistry. Hayden’s growth throughout the story was especially moving, and Rowan’s kindness and strength made her impossible not to love. Tracy Leigh did an amazing job creating a romance that was both deeply emotional and incredibly uplifting. This was a touching, unforgettable story about second chances, healing, and finding love when you least expect it.

Hayden & Rowan's story was sweet... a bit emotional, but in the best way. For a single dad romance... there is a good balance.... I don't feel like the interaction with the kids overtakes everything & yet you wouldn't want them to be less present, if that makes sense.

Love the surprise twists (can't say more so I don't give away spoilers... if you read it, you'll understand!)

Love the characters. Love Hayden's family - and the Sunday meals his Mom hosts... 🤩💞

I love how fiercely jealous Hayden is...and love how he finally stands up to his FIL and starts living life for the future, a happy one, instead of staying stuck in the past.

Spice level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

Thank you to the author (Tracy Leigh), publisher & Booksprout for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

A hefty book with one hefty story!

Heartfelt, with plenty of swoon, this author never disappoints with her masterful storytelling.

In this installment of the Sycamore Falls series, the author created a story that goes a little deeper than grumpy single dad and nanny. She flawlessly
incorporates romance, and complicated emotions of grief, loneliness and guilt with a healthy dose of romance and swoon.

All the emotions were at play and flowed so nicely, as I navigated the sometimes choppy waters of Hayden and Rowan’s story. These characters were so well developed. Their banter so sharp and their conversations so interesting, it just added to the story and I couldn’t get enough of it!

While this read can be read as a standalone, reading the prior books in order helps understanding the dynamics of this fascinating small town.

I cannot wait to discover what’s next in this world!

Cozy, feel good age gap romance

I really enjoyed this one! I’m always a sucker for an age gap, single dad story, and this hit all the right notes for me. There’s just something about that dynamic that gets me every time, and this book delivered exactly what I was hoping for.

The plot was a bit predictable, but honestly, that just made it an even more enjoyable, comforting read. Sometimes you want to know where things are going, and just sit back and enjoy the ride—and that’s exactly how this felt for me.

Tracy Leigh has such a talent for creating small town worlds that make you wish you could step right into them. The sense of community, the friendships, and the way the characters interact all feel so warm and inviting—you can’t help but want to be part of it.

Overall, a cozy, feel-good romance that I flew through. Definitely a 5-star read for me!

Rowan and Hayden are such a wonderful addition to the Sycamore Falls extended family.

This book was such an excellent read. It had some tropes that had the potential to be very emotionally heavy, but that was not the case with this book. There were moments of grief and sadness, but Tracy Leigh did an amazing job of keeping things on the lighter side.

It was such a joy to see Hayden come alive and be present again as the story unfolded. And the way Rowan just fit so perfectly with the kids and Hayden's family had me rooting for them all.

This book was full of emotional depth, wonderful characters, silly, funny moments, steamy times, and awe-inspiring character growth.

I say yes this was a really good book to read

I like the upbeat of the story And all the yeses in it. The characters were well written well rounded you could feel the grief they were failing And The bonding between the different characters in the story. I gather this must have other books that follow and this must be a series because I could see many books coming from the various characters. I read it in 1 day. I just couldn't put the book down, the various different situations that occur the feeling of Despair coming from some of the characters and the feeling of living in today and I really believe in that. If you like these kinds of books that I've just mentioned you really need to read this 1

Choosing To Live
Being the recipient of a heart transplant Rowan decides to start living a life instead of being a workaholic, not even loving the work she is doing. She starts her ‘Yes-year’ by buying a van and going where fate, providence or luck brings her. It happens to be Sycamore Falls and she says ‘yes’ to become a nanny to two young children of a widowed doctor. Wonderful to read how she brings happiness to his home, his children and himself. Full of humor and sweetness.
Don’t forget to read the bonus, I read it with tears in my eyes. <3

Rowen and Hayden….Rowen, on her life adventure, Hayden, trying to survive, raising his two children. Has “fate” has it, Rowen is the next nanny to be “interviewed” and hopefully will last more than a few hours.

Hayden is tough as nails, strict, domineering and stuck in what he thinks he needs to be doing.

Enter Rowen, a free spirit, who loves life, enjoys Hayden’s children and instantly connects with them. Hayden doesn’t understand how she has done it.

You have to read this, if you’ve read any of TK’s or Tracy Leigh’s books, you know there is a deep emotional twist! No spillers here! But I know you will love this!

My oh my. Hayden has met his match, even if he wasn’t looking. Rowan is living a year of yes and it brings her to Hayden who’s in need of a nanny for his children. She connects immediately with the kids but Hayden is fighting the connection every step of the way. When he finally realizes that moving on and being happy isn’t betraying the memory of his dead wife, things start to click with Rowan. But she’s hiding a secret. What will happen when he finds out. This story has all the feels and two adorable kids (and a less than adorable FIL). You are going to love this story.

This books has it all…single dad, nanny, secret identity (in a way), family trauma, new beginnings and a beautiful love story.

This one will pull on your heartstrings a bit…but don’t worry...there are many laughs, chemistry, flirting, banter and the sweetest little kids.

Hayden and Rowan have an instant connection..they feel so comfortable together…like they’ve always know one another. Their journey to an HEA is filled with challenges, grief, and giving themselves permission to love. The two kiddos steal the show for me..so cute!

A binge worthy story that will grip you from the start. Highly recommend!

Hayden and Rowan never expected instant chemistry—especially after everything they’ve both lost. Each carries scars that make trusting again feel impossible.

Rowan has vowed to live a life of yes, taking one moment at a time and refusing to look back. Hayden, haunted by the ghosts of his past, can’t seem to stop reliving what once was. But when their souls recognize something familiar—something safe yet electric—they’re both forced to open up, just enough to let hope in.

Still, old wounds run deep, and the instinct to run before they can be hurt again threatens to destroy what’s blooming between them. Can they silence the what ifs long enough to believe in a future they never saw coming?

Hayden's story is one I had been waiting for. I wanted more of his backstory... and wanted him to get a happily ever after.
We've read little pieces about the tragedy that brought him back to his home town to be surrounded by family in the other Sycamore Falls books... leaving us longing for more.
This book was an emotional roller-coaster. In the beginning Rowan was sort of forced into his life when Dylan, Hayden's sister, hired her as a nanny for his two young children.
She brings a new light into their lives. She also finds out a secret that ties them together.
This story will have you hooked from the first page. I couldn't put it down and can't wait until the next book releases.

Tempted by the Nanny is full of all the feels. It's a nice slow-burn that keeps you engaged and waiting for that HEA.

Hayden is ala brooding widower raising two children. He wrestles with guilt and uncertainty. Rowan is sunshine to his grumpy. She brings life and warmth back into his home. She forges a beautiful relationship with his children that is both meaningful and needed to bring the family peace. There are some funny and sweet moments to keep the book from being dark. And, yes, there is some heat between Hayden and Rowan.

Well written and full of heart, Tempted By The Nanny is a gem and not to be missed. There is no cheating, no OM/OW drama, and a beautiful romantic HEA.

I really loved Rowan and Hayden’s love story. Even though it is very predictable.
It also broke my heart. What the kids went through loosing their mom at such a young age is so heartbreaking.
Even for Hayden, then his father in law puts them through it time and again for those stupid (in my opinion) memorials. Until Rowan comes into their lives and pretty much tells them they don’t have to do that if they don’t want to. Love her. She literally saved them all from more heartbreak and gave them her love instead. Plus the part about Rowan having their mom’s and wife’s heart is so sweet.

This awe-inspiring story had me all caught up in it as I connected with Rowan and Hayden. He is dealing with the death of his wife while raising their children. Rowan becomes a part of the family when she is hired as the nanny and their path begins. She gives Hayden a run for his money and touches his heart that he closed off to finding love. Rowan helps Hayden to open his heart and realize that it's ok to live again.

This is the newest addition to Leigh's Sycamore Falls series. A wonderful addition to the series and can be read as a standalone. Our main characters are Hayden and Rowan. Leigh delivers a captivating, well written, beautifully balanced romance. Complex themes of guilt, grief and sorrow but also joy, fun and hope. I was a rollercoaster of feels reading this but loved the ride from start to finish. Can't wait for more from Leigh!

Slow burn with a satisfying HEA

Tempted by the Nanny is the fourth book in the Sycamore Falls series by Tracy Leigh/TK Leigh. I have read a number of books by the author's TK Leigh pen name but this is the first by her lighter Tracy Leigh pen name. I enjoyed this sunshine/grumpy, boss/nanny, single dad, living in the same house, and building passion romance between Rowan and Hayden. The book does deal with emotions, loss, despair, angst, love, healing and more along the way to a very satisfying HEA.
