When I first started this novel and met the male that I thought was the Hero, I wanted to do this to the author:

(On another note: that gif is a guy trying to rob a woman of her purse and she yanked that a-hole and slammed him to the ground! Woo Hoo!!!)

Ok...

*clears throat.

So I read the first chapter and a craving to beat the crap out of the author rushes through me. I'm hot and pissed! How dare she make this evil son of a bitch the hero? What is wrong with her? Who would love him? This just sends the wrong message, I thought...

But things were not what it seemed...

The plot continued into a fun thrill where I rooted for the heroine to. . .(in order to not giveaway spoilers) to meet her goal.
And she did with the help of a god coiled and muscle and sexy kindness. Oh baby! I loved him!

I wanted to sit in his cabin and play naughty games with his fingers and my . . .

And the bridge of love that stretched out between them and united the two lovers together was just...

SO FREAKIN ADOREABLE!

Like a kitten....

I won't lie. I enjoyed it.

so much that I crown it with 4.5 stars.

I was given this book by the author for an honest review. My 3 stars is for book length, not quality of the story.

This is sweet, quick, easy to read story. Our heroine, Tamara has finally found the strength to leave an abusive relationship, but is injured in her jump from a three story building. Escaping, but unable to walk, or climb a fence to freedom she is befriended by a mysterious wolf with big green eyes, for some reason she trusts this wolf. Waking up in a cabin, she has no memory of how or where she is, or who the handsome man is that she sees upon opening her eyes.

Devon, the cabins owner, doesn't understand the protective instinct possessing him when he meets Tamara, and offers her a place to recover from her injuries. As time progresses, history and secrets are shared (some by accident), trust & friendship is developed, Tamara finally feels safe.
As the blue moon approaches, Devon must decide if he will assume the role of Alpha to his former pack, a role he really doesn't want. In true wolf hierarchy, there is an adversary who wants the role, Darius challenges Devon for pack leadership, but loses in the end. Devon attributes his strength of will, and courage to take on the Alpha role to his new love and knowledge that even thought she is human, Tamara is his mate.

Tamara and Devin were very likable characters, and I saw great promise in some of the supporting cast, like Devin's half sister Elisa, his friend Nick, pack elder Roman and even Darius. Hopefully the follow on book(s) will allow for cameo appearances and more development of our cast of characters.

The story flows well, the sex is steamy, and although our timeline is condensed, and characters are not as developed as they could be, I didn't feel like I was being cheated out of anything. I felt like Wolf’s Haven was a complete novella

Looking forward to the follow on books in the series

I had to give this one a lot of thought.
There were things I loved about it & things I didn't.
I thought the basis of the story was good.

What sex scenes we got was decent. Not 'Set the world on Fire' but hot enough.

My 2 major problems were the writing was a bit jumpy and the cliffhanger.

This is a short read of about 150 pages. Just as the story was getting really interesting 'BAM' cliffhanger. The End.

And the weird thing is, the next book is a different set of mc's.

But I felt cheated.
In fact, I was so pissed off I put this in my Book Rejected shelf.

Now, after almost 10 years!, I'm curious about the rest of the series & I'm seriously thinking about picking it back up. At least for bk#2. See how it goes.

Page Count: 105 Pages

Primary Characters:
Tamara - female protagonist
Devin - male protagonist
Secondary Character:
Nick - Devin's best friend
Roman - Caedmon elder
Elisa - Devin's half sister
Dawson - Devin's half brother
Darius - Devin's cousin and "nemesis" in the story
Brad - Tamara's ex-fiance
My Thoughts:
Tamara is a woman who is looking for a way of escape from an abusive relationship with her fiance, Brad. Brad, a local thug, and his crew solicited (more like threatened) Tamara's assistance to commit a burglary at a local museum. Having had enough of Brad, his abusive ways, and their toxic relationship, Tamara solicits the help of a local counselor, Selene, to help her make her escape. Together, Selene and Tamara plot of course of action that will allow Tamara to stop the burglary and slip away from Brad forever. But first, she has to act as if she is going to go through with her part of the crime.

Upon arriving at the museum, Tamara is dispatched to go inside the museum, turn off the security alarm, and open the door for Brad and crew. Hopeful that she will be able to slip away to call the police to stop the robbery, Tamara's plans are thwarted when Brad demands that she assist in the pillaging effort. Scrambling for what to do next, Tamara hies away to one of the upstairs offices and calls the police. Her plan is to quietly make her escape while the crew is being apprehended. Unfortunately, she is on the third story and cannot make her way out of the building before she hears the police sirens. Tamara is stuck; she can't get out of the building and she can't hide. Moving toward the window, Tamara considers her options: jump and plunge to her possible death or be sentenced to a jail term along with Brad, et al.

Settling, Tamara makes her choice. Jump! She lands hard and hurts her ankle but manages to make it to the relative seclusion of nearby bushes. Now Tamara is really stuck because she realizes that there absolutely no way from her to escape from the museum which is surrounded by a 12ft fence. As she ponders her dismal fate, Tamara hears growling in the bush beside her. She turns and comes face to face...er...face to snout with a huge wolf with brilliant emerald eyes. Tamara's fate plummets from dismal to fatal. She sees her death in the face of the wolf. But fate has different plans for Tamara when the wolf turns into her savior. Fearing that she has lost her mind, Tamara "hears" the wolf tell her to "Hold on". She slides on his back, grabs onto to his fur, and he plunges them both over the fence.

The wolf delivers Tamara to a forest and to safety. He's her hero who also happens to be much more than just a wolf.

This was a solid introduction into the world of the Caedmon Wolves. In it we see a disenfranchised hero gain acceptance and an abused woman find love. Tamara and Devin were interesting characters and I liked the overall byplay between them. Although this story was an interracial romance (IR), Ms. Kirk did not make race the emphasis of the story. So many IR's place a heavy emphasis on race that it distills the impact of the actual story. However, it was nice to see one that focused on the story with only minute references to the race of the characters.

I would have liked to see more conflict in the story. Devin and Darius fought quickly, Darius submitted, and then it was over. Elisa warned Tamara to be careful but there was no indication as to why. At some point I thought that Darius' mate would try to harm Tamara in some way but she did not. My assumption (at least I hope) is that the warning was general and will play out in later books in the series.

Overall, I enjoyed the story. It was a sweet story and a quick and easy read.

I was pleasantly surprised by this particular shifter book. Everything about this book was enjoyable for a lot of reasons mainly though because the characters were believable and real. The Wolf's Haven is truly that a haven for Tamara. Here's why I believe this:

Tamara wants desperately to get out of her abusive relationship with Brad. Brad is nothing more than a liar and thief trying to make Tamara be a part of his plans. Tamara knows that she needs to get away from Brad no matter the cost or what she has to do. Tamara plans for her escape from Brad and his thievery as well. She makes her bid for escape in the process gains a sprained ankle. She needs to escape now yet her sprained ankle is preventing this from happening. Until a wolf finds her and helps her escape from the past. The wolf has incredible emerald green eyes that give Tamara a sense of safety she's never felt before. They make their escape together. The wolf is actually a man named Devin Caedmon, a lone wolf for the past five years, returning home to prevent his cousin from becoming the new Alpha of Caedmon Pack. Devin realizes that just being around Tamara changes his outlook on life and sees the past in a new light. Devin doesn't want the leadership role yet doesn't see how he can avoid it either. Will Tamara trust Devin? Can Tamara accept Devin for who he is? What does the future hold for Caedmon Pack? What changes must Devin and Tamara make? Your answers await you in Wolf's Haven.

I don't think there was enough of Wolf's Haven. It read as a very condensed snippet from what could have been a larger work. There was very little narrative tension and what there was, was too easily resolved. I would have liked more pathos from all of the characters. A little more fall-out between past and present actions and more ramifications from the events that open the book. Considering how it opens, the female lead isn't nearly as damaged as I would have thought. The male lead also falls into his appointed "destiny" with little kicking and screaming considering his reticence throughout the book. Because the characters are so isolated for the majority of the story, I thought there would be more build up and more, well, just more tension between them. But everything generally goes real smooth. There's just not a lot of story here.

The sex scenes when they finally happen are rather disconnected from the rest of the book in tone. It's a huge shift from the more romantic tone of majority of the book to something a lot more carnal. Not that it can't be done or that there's anything wrong with it, but tonally the language shift was jarring.

The book was also very abruptly ended. Wasn't sure what to make of that. I'm a little curious about some of the other books in the series, so I may give one or two a try. The writing is competent and flows pretty well.

I usually don't like short stories or novellas; but this one was pretty good. The hero, Devin, was very sexy and sweet. I'm glad to know that it is the first bookmark in a series on Wolf Haven. I'll be reading book two next!

A sweet story, not too involved or exciting with minimal action. Tamara and Devin don't have much strife between them and get to know one another over a couple of weeks before committing.

Wolf Haven by Ambrielle Kirk

Ambrielle Kirk crafted a sensuous tale of love, healing and adventure. The narrative Wolf's Haven is well balanced with action, good and evil with high spirited characters, twisted personalities and settings that ranges from a peaceful respite to a hectic city, frightening unknown terrain.

Ms. Kirk touches all of a readers sensory elements via this adventurous, paranormal romantic story.
Her writing style possesses a punchy, sexiness, yet smoothness and easy flowing vibration of a river on a warm spring day. She created characters I identified with regardless of their role be it villain or hero.
Ms. Kirks demonstrates her well honed craft through creative scenes, rising actions with twists and turns which keeps the reader focused anticipating what will pop-off next. Ms. Kirk story resonates a powerful message for all readers but especially for women in relationships.

The Wolf's Haven characters have an edginess that makes them mysterious, with the magnetism that draws the audience deeper into the characters personalities as well as the other necessary elements of the good story. The settings are realistic and picturesque; appearing to the heart of nature lovers.

Tamara is a gorgeous twenty-seven, naïve, young woman looking for a change in her life as it has been one of painful experiences. She is engaged to Brad, a chameleon who keeps her equilibrium in a constant upheaval.

Brad is man of many faces but loses the magnetic luster which once captivates but can easily repel those who come in close contact with him. He used his charms to winTamara's heart. He is conniving and convinces his peers to look to him for leadership.

Devin is a man of substance who had issues in his past, he is the beast, a real go-getter. Devin's demeanor is one of strength, tenderness and understanding. His initial contact with Tamara is at the Heritage Museum of Fine Arts in Virginia and it may be characterized as one of surprise, excitement and sensuousness. Once Tamara and Devin looked into each others eyes they felt the magical current between them. As they peered into each others eyes into the soul; there was no saying no and they are willing to walk through fire, go to whatever limits, to the wall to overcome any obstacles coming their way.

The secondary performers in Wolf's Haven are critical to maintain a high level of excitement. Selene is a secondary character in Wolf's Haven who is a woman of extreme wisdom and insight willing to provide protection and support or whatever else is needed.
Dawson is a Devin's half-brother.
Darius a pack member of the Caedmon pack who has motives that are less than honorable, with a selfish dark energy.

Devin's haven in the woods is the perfect environment for the development of Tamara's and Devin's companionship of the freshness of a brisk breeze in the woods. Their new relationship takes on the energy of trust, acceptance, honor and supportiveness.

The budding romance in Wolf's Haven is depicted in titillating manner through the spicy words gliding across the pages of Ms. Kirk's paranormal erotic romance. Ms. Kirk turns up the heat on Tamara and Devin as they crave each other on a intellectual, spiritual and carnal level. I found this fire between Tamara and Devin sizzling and hungered for more as Ms. Kirk brings her lovers into deeper bonding expressions of love.

I loved Wolf's Haven because it contains all the components I relish in a erotic, paranormal romance: raw carnality, tenderness, multiple risks with a strong plot, conflicts and meaningful resolutions that made me cheer.

If you are looking for a delicious, love story that will take you on an hot, heart racing voyage loaded with dedication, acceptance and awesome intimate encounters Ms. Kirk's Wolf's Haven will take you to that special haven. I did not want to leave!!

Ms. Kirk is a writer I have added to must read list.

Tamara is escaping an abusive relationship while she still can. She has a plan, she makes her escape – but it all goes horribly wrong. Until a wolf arrives, an actual wolf, that carries her to safety and away from her abusers.

She wakes in a cabin in the woods, with Devin, the wolf shifter and begins to learn to trust him, even as he carefully takes care of her and her injuries.

But Devin has his own issues, his pack is leaderless and the only contender is a wolf that will stop at nothing for power and could destroy the pack. Unless Devin himself is willing to assume the role of alpha; something he has been desperately avoiding

And adding a human woman to the mix won’t make it any easier.

My overall feel is one of frustration because I think a lot could have been made of this book if it were a lot longer, the themes well developed and the story told over a greater period of time. As it is, too many of potentially great storylines in this book were compacted leaving them either lacking impact or worse.

Take Tamara’s flight from an abusive relationship. Parts of this were done so extremely well. Looking at the pain she felt and suffered – but also the shame, that little myth that she should have been smarter than to tolerate an abusive relationship, that it was her fault is touched on and briefly, but very well explored. Or Devin being careful around her, acknowledges that she has reasonable fears and that he has to be sure not to ever intimidate her and ensure she knows he won’t hurt her. The courage she showed to escape, the effort it took, the fear – all very well done. And then she leaves her abuser, has a magical wolfy ride and ends up isolated, not taking calls from her therapist and advisor, with a completely strange man in the middle of nowhere. She spends a week in complete isolation with him, at the end of which she sort-of-marries him and moves into his life. There was none of her getting her strength back, none of her finding herself, none of her healing or growing or asserting herself as a person or a woman – there just wasn’t time.

Or there’s Devin’s fight over the leadership of this pack. There’s no build up, there’s no exploration of the history – of his fraught relationship with his father, of his lack of acceptance in the pack, of the importance of finding a mate, of this whole prophecy that’s apparently going on and how that involves him. We could have done to have seen some of his isolation or seen how the pack works or seen exactly the how and why of his evil cousin (this is about all we know about evil cousin, he’s evil).

Wolf’s Haven (Caedmon Wolves), Ambrielle Kirk (Black Friday Blog Hop)

Tamara is on the run from her boyfriend, she finally finds a way to escape him during a robbery. Hurt and on the run, her only companion a large wolf with green eyes. Upon awaking, instead of a wolf she finds his owner Devin with the same gorgeous green eyes. Devin’s father has passed and now the pack wants him to assume his role as alpha. Responsibility for a pack his father kicked him out of for being a bastard is not something he wants to assume. He would rather stay in his cabin with the woman who is driving his wolf to mate.

Bookswagger Marcia: Three Crowns, swagger jacked, decent read. The story was enjoyable and I did like the shifter world created, I just found it to not be as fulfilling as I would have liked. I was drawn into this story from the very beginning, I wanted to know how the heroine Tamara would get out of her extremely difficult situation and then when she is introduced to the shifter world, I clutched my kindle waiting for fireworks. I think the word count held this story back, I just felt there were so many details were I was giving a tidbit or hooked but then let down because it was not explored further. Hopefully the series will continue to expand upon the Caedmon wolf world.

Bookswagger Danielle: Four Crowns, good read, on the way to swagger. I really enjoyed this book, my main problem was it wasn’t long enough. Normally this wouldn’t be a problem, I wanted more and found myself double and triple checking to make sure there really wasn’t anymore to read. The author gave just enough to get me hooked and make me want to know about the characters future. Tamara was an intriguing character and not one I would think I’d go for. On the surface when I think of an abused woman I think of someone who doesn’t have a strong sense of self and I like my heroine to be kick ass chicks. Surprising Tamara had me revising my opinion and I was definitely a fan. Devin was exactly what I liked in a hero, strong, and he proved it multiple times in the story without being obnoxious. I’m looking forward to more from this author, I was impressed.

Tamara risked her life to get away from her abusive boyfriend Brad. During a robbery at a museum she sat him up and jumped out of a 3 story window. She begins to believe that she was never meant to be happy. When all hope of freedom fades she stumbles across a wolf that brings her to safety. She learns to trust the wolf, but has yet to trust the man. Devin potential future leader of the Caedmon Pack, returns to the foothills of his Virginia home after five long years as a lone wolf. Both Devin and Tamara had a past of people failing them and each has there own issues with trusting their heart to another. I really liked Tamara. You instantly feel sorry for her and her situation. She is frightened and scared for her life because her fiancé Brad is a monster. She was tricked into a relationship with him. Tamara didn't want to come between Devin and his pack she knows that they don't accept her. When Devin first told her that he was a shifter she didn't believe him and yes she was afraid but she was afraid of his wolf. I liked how she was able to open up after being in an abusive relationship it can be hard to trust I wish that the author would have went into her past a little more like why she didn't leave her asshole ex sooner and more about why Devin had left the pack but overall this was a very good start of a new series for me. This is my first time reading this author and I enjoyed this book very much.

This really was a great book. I had my doubts when I first started reading Wolf's Haven but those doubts were quickly diminished. I really liked Tamara, she was in an abusive relationship and escapes to make a new life for herself. When she meets Devin, who just so happens to be a shape shifter! I loved Devin, he was a tragic soul that was really just searching for love that he never had.

Tamara was a great character because while meek she was also strong, Devin was an awesome character because he was the very embodiment of a lone wolf that was as sweet as pie. The progression of the novel was wonderful, as well as very nicely written.

The only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 stars, was because the book ended where it should have began. I was like but it's a series I'm good, but then realized it wasn't about Tamara and Devin so I was disappointed. Mainly because Wolf's Haven left you with more of a question, than a conclusion. I also would've like more background story on the two main leads, they were really just a big mystery.

However, the book was very good and I would recommend it to anyone who was a fan of this genre.

The first book in the Caedmon Wolves series has a unique twist to the shapeshifter world.

Tamara is a human woman on the run and is rescued by Devin, who takes her someplace safe. The romance between the two slowly builds even though there is a strong attraction. The author has done a great job of conveying the emotions of the characters of this story and the reader becomes bewitched by the characters as soon as the story begins.
The suspense builds as Devin has to return to his pack to stop his cousin from taking over. The others want Devin to lead which he has always believed to be impossible also he has to wonder if they will ever accept a human.

The author has created a world of characters that seem very real to the reader with well written and inspiring sex scenes, a plot with a believable pace and the fight scenes are vividly described engaging the reader even more. This book also has a believable and consistent dialogue.

This paranormal world is sensual, inspiring, exciting and entertaining and I am looking forward to reading more in this series. The only thing I had a problem with was I did not want the story to end.

Second Chances

Tamara is involved in an abusive relationship and is looking for a way out. All of her attempts have failed, but this particular night, she has a great plan. Just as things are getting started, something goes wrong. Frantically thinking, she jumps from a window to her escape. While dragging herself to safety, she comes face to face with an even bigger problem. Will she get the freedom she's worked so hard to achieve?

This was my first read by Ambrielle Kirk. This was different. I normally wouldn't have read anything of this genre. I was drawn in from the beginning by Tamara. Her character is one we see in everyday life. Even though I felt a few scenes were rushed, I found myself rooting for Tamara. Overall, “Wolf's Haven” was a pretty good read. I would highly recommend to those who are into paranormal romance.

Pretty interesting. I might have to continue on to book two. This one ends but doesn't really resolve any issues that it started. Which was probably the clever author's intention to keep us reading the series! I liked Devin and Tamara as a couple, as much a couple as you can be in a week, but kinda felt like their relationship was a bit glossed over. On my Were Scale of Hotness, 3 stars.

It was an okay book. Good for when you're on the go, or need to kill some time. It's a short read less than 90 pages on Nook, so everything is fast paced. All in all it was ok.

(I'll admit the reason I started reading this is because the h and I share the same name 😳 I've never read a romance book where the heroine is named Tamara, so when I read the blurb I was definitely intrigued... It felt like going back to Y/N times in Wattpad LOL)

Now, leaving that unnecessary comment aside, this was an OK read. It was fast-paced, the plot lacked depth, and the ending was a bit underwhelming. But it was fun to read.

I'm not sure if I'll be reading the other books, because this one didn't impress me enough. It was entertaining to read, but that's it. Nothing much to add.

Wolves are great

Devin and Tamara are a great couple, each dealing with their own issues. For Devin it is rejection and Tamara abuse, but their attraction overcomes all. I look toward to finding out more in this series
