Selene is thrust into the aftermath of Caedmon pack rivalry when determination to help a friend leads her to the foothills of the Virginia mountains. She doesn’t anticipate that her generosity would earn her a place behind bars and at the mercy of man who saves her from a sentence worse than death. Soon she discovers that Nick is far from ordinary. Under the façade of his commitment to protect her from evil hides a secret that shatters her faith in him.
Nick knew his life would be forever changed when Devin, the new Caedmon leader, honors him with the title of Second-in-Command. With this responsibility, he’s introduced to a web of pack politics and threats. Darius, the banished wolf who lost the most coveted title within the pack, turns out to be a sore loser, and he demands either complete dominance or total destruction. Someone must stop him before he tears down the unity that has held the pack together for decades.
In the midst of it all, he meets a tempting brazen beauty. Selene is not just any woman, and the wolf inside reminds Nick of this fact every time she’s in his presence. She awakens raging passion within him, and he desires her like no other. Nick’s past misfortunes has taught him many things. For one…never trust a woman with his heart.
True love awaits in the path of danger, but will Selene and Nick let the chaos destroy their bond?
Wolf's Promise (Caedmon Wolves #2) By Ambrielle Kirk
“True love awaits in the path of danger, but will Selene and Nick let the chaos destroy their bond?”
While taking a vacation to see a friend, Selene has a car accident in the backwoods of Virginia. Upon waking up, she finds herself in a strange cabin bound to a bed, and threatened by a scared, angry, ill tempered man. She is told his wife can't bare him children and if she wants to live she will bare his offspring. He demands at least 9 months of her life.
High in the mountains of Virginia, Nick second in command of the Caedmon Pack is attacked, captured and locked a dungeon. The Fates being as cruel as they are throw Selene and Nick together in the underground dungeon. Hours pass with conversation, small bits of beef jerky, and Nick's promise to protect and help Selene to escape.
Good luck and sloppy guards, allow Nick and Selene to escape, along the way we learn about our characters, through their conversations with each other. We see Selene's fear turning to trust, and Nick's protectiveness and caring growing stronger with each footstep.
There was a lot going on in this book, Selene & Tamara's meeting, Devin & Tamara's wedding plans, Nicks past, his fears of being betrayed by a lover, Darius' plans to destroy Devin, glances into Pack politics, and Selene's newly awakened sexual hunger. This book seemed a bit darker and edgier then Wolf's Haven, the sex Hot if not hotter.
The book is novella length (approx 120 pages), has good character development, a strong story line, continued world building, characters you can't help but hate, and those you love. It does contain some violence and , all related to the development or support of the plot. It’s a good follow on to Wolf's Haven, and from what I understand a led in to at least a third book.
Hopefully the book will be well received and will encourage Ms Kirk to write a full length novel, expanding on the characters we have meet, life in the Caedmon Pack, forth coming nuptials, possible offspring, and Elise's role as a "seer".
This book was given to me by the Author in exchange for an honest review
Ms Kirk has done it once again. I was so excited to see that Devin and Tamara made an appearance throughout the second novel with the followup to their relationship. Nick was another alpha hero that I truly enjoyed. She weaved more details surrounding the history of the Caedmon pack. Very suspenseful. There was just enough detail in the story so you don't get bogged down with unnecessary details just to make a long story. You get one explosive story into a compact story that packs a mean punch. Sex scenes were EXTREMELY steamy. Hurry up and put out book 3!
Loved the lead in to this book. Tamara's counselor Selene decided to find out for herself if Tamara was okay. As an domestic abuse counselor, Selene remembered how difficult her clients past was. Fearing that Tamara was falling down the same road again she packed up her car and headed in the direction of Tamara's phone signal last pinged.
Nick, Devin's Second in Command of the Caedmon Pack, decided to get away from it all and camp out in the mountains on pack land. What happened next made these to characters cross paths and begin on a suspenseful, action packed journey that they would never forget.
This book starts with a great intro catching the reader up to the new characters Selene and Nick. Selena is Tamara's caseworker on an adventure to make sure she is okay from the first book's events. Nick is now the beta for the Caedmon Pack, which has gone out hiking alone. After a quick start and lots of upheavals, this book gets better and better, .including steamy scenes to all-out fights. It is action-packed and intense. I don't feel like there was massive sorry in this one, but I definitely loved all the hot steamy scenes and even the action-packed battles. The author did a great job making the relationship hot and heavy. I love how they both felt the mate bond even though she is human.
The second novel of the Caedmon Wolves based on two primary characters Nick and Selene. Great character development as well how the writer easily ties the first two books together. Devin, now pack leader, has selected Nick as second in command. Unfortunately there's a pending rivalry issue because the banned Darius wants his rightful place as Alpha. Thus ensues the story of how Nick an Selene continue their relationship as she is his mate, and how the rivalry between Darius and Devin ends.
Still wish for a bit more character development, but over all its a good story. There was one spot that confused me, from one chapter to the next, it was like the transition was missing.
This is the second book in this series and it's as exciting as the first book. Once again Ambrielle Kirk has written a excellent book. The characters are strong and loveable, this world is so great. I really enjoy this series it's quite entertaining.
It ends one wolf mate but leave anther to begin if you want to continue. There is also the threat of the old pack but what can I say. Each female has her own story to tell with her mate & now we have a witch. Gotta read next book.
This is not the best read I've had with this type of series, but it's not the worst either. The writing isn't the best the character development poor but I'm still reading.
"This is a fantastic series!" The characters are amazing the story line is compelling it will keep you glued to the pages!. Selene is a spunky Woman. Selene is on a mission to find and help her friend Tamara. The last she heard of Tamara she was in Virginian Mountains. When Selene gets to Virginia she is kidnapped by a psycho. The guy says he wants her to have his pups. He tries to rape her only she fights back and is thrown in a cell with Nick. Nick is of Devin's pack and Devin is who Tamara is with now. Nick had been made Devin's second in command when Devin became Alpha. Nick was hiking in the Mountains when Darius's men trapped him. Darius is the psycho who had kidnapped Selene. Nick and Selene help each other escape. Nick finds himself and his wolf drawn to Selene. Nick lines up for Selene to leave only Selene finds she can not stand to do so. Can Selene be Nicks true mate?. Darius and his group are still causing trouble. Can Devin and his pack stop Darius for good?. Will Selene get her wolf. This book is stocked full of suspense, action, and awesome Romance!. You really need to try this series!
Selene cannot rest until she finds out what happened to Tamara, a voice over the telephone she was helping escape an abusive relationship. She cannot go on with living her normal life until she knows she is okay. She did not expect to find herself in the middle of an ongoing battle for clan leadership or to discover there is such a thing as shifters nor to fall in love with the Alphas number two man Nick.
Nick is taken by his clan’s enemy and never thought he would discover his mate while being held hostage as well. He has no choice but to save himself and her while hoping she can accept the beast he can become.
Bookswagger Marcia: Three Crowns, swagger jacked, decent read. Wolf’s Promise was a nice continuation of the series, I read book one and it was good to see Tamara again towards the end of the book although the focus was on Nick and Selene as it should be since it is their story. This was a quick read, the clan is still dealing with fallout from book one so it picks up from there although you will not need to read book one to read Wolf’s Promise.
This book was given as a gift with the expectation of an honest review. This is the second book of the Caedmon Wolves series. There are 5 more books in the series. It looks like they can be read out of order, but if you are like me I prefer to read them in order. Serene is concerned about one of her clients and decides to take vacation time to visit her. Her GPS has lost its signal and her phone is almost useless. She does have a map and she decides to take a bathroom break, get some gas, and food. She sees a gas station, but there is little else to be seen. She gets back on the road, gets her map from the floor and looks up at a wolf in front of her on the pavement. She tries to stop her car, but it slides sideways and crashes into a tree. The next thing she knows is she didn't get rescued by a hero like in the books. She gets very worried since she told everyone that she was going to the beach for her vacation not to the middle of nowhere with mountains. She is afraid of what may happen next.
Selene is crisis counselor searching for her missing client. Little does Selene know that searching for her client would lead her to be kidnapped. A scarred face man tells Selene that she'll willingly submit to his affections and bear his get as well. Selene stares at this man in shock and informs him that she'll do no such thing. Nick Caedmon is second in command for the Caedmon Pack. Nick wants to regroup before meeting up with his Alpha Devin. Nick is taken hostage where he meets Selene, who turns his world upside down, and fellow captive. Who is the scarred face man? Will Selene and Nick escape? Will Nick admit his attraction? Your answers await you in Wolf's Promise.
I loved this series! The characters are well written. They have flaws and not perfect which is a bonus. The attraction between Selene and Nick is explosive. I liked how the author tied up loose ends from last book to this one. Leaving plenty of room for more books. Yay!
This is book 2 of the Caedmon Wolves series and is packed with just as much excitement and sensuality as the first. Wolf’s Promise is a story that many fans of the genre will enjoy an escape with and it can be read as a stand-alone if desired. A 3.5 rounded to a 4.
Selene takes a trip with the very best of intentions and ends up in the worst possible situation. Besides learning about the paranormal world, she meets one of the worst of the bunch. Thank whatever god or goddess that’s on her side, she meets the handsome werewolf Nick and he assists her out of her sticky situation and brings about some of the very best (wink wink).
Nick is just looking for a bit of reminiscing and peace before settling back into the real world. What he gets is anything and everything but peace!
Mating is a serious business and very…permanent. I’m very happy Selene and Nick found one another and look forward to more of them in the future.
Nick I loved, he was a more show then tell kind of man, "let me give you a hint." Nick grabbed her hips and pulled her forward. She bit her lip as her center pressed firmly against his rock hard evidence of desire." Selene she was strong in her own way but there was some reservations she had, "I know what will happen," she said, wringing her hands in her lap. "I'll return home and never hear from you again. You have no intentions of contacting me after I'm gone, do you?" Once the boy removes his head from his butt things got a rolling with him and his woman, "yes. Just like that," he hissed, holding her about the waist. "Offer yourself to me." With each book I'm falling more and more in love with this series.
When I start a book I really like, I blaze right through it...given it took me two months to come back and finish it, you may deduce that this one just did not keep my attention...it was okay...the more I read this kind of book, the more I want a good, strong story with characters the focus of the book, and less graphic sex and language...seems like some of these scenes were thrown in just for the "hot" factor when a stronger story would carry it better...after reading books 1 and 2 now, there is just not a real drive to get more...
I wasn't as impressed with this installment as I was the first one. Selene was a tad bit too aggresive for my liking. In stories like this, I want the damsel in distress. I also didn't find it believable that Selene was a 28 year old virgin. I kept waiting for Selene and Tamara to meet and then it was anticlimatic when they did. There really wasn't much chemistry between Selene and Nick.
Now I did enjoy the backstory of how the Caedmon wolves came to be. That was actually the best part of the story for me. Jayson's story is up next but I'm not excited to read it.
I really enjoyed this book. Darius is bent on revenge from losing the status of Alpha. He has evil plans. He kidnapped Selena and his plans for her are contemptuous. Nick, was captured as well. They were thrown into a cell together. Nick promised that he would not let any harm come to her and they would escape. Was this a start to a budding romance. Nick never breaks his promise. I will have to see. This series is excellent. A little hot and steamy at times but the storyline is great. This is a good read.
One, the editing in this one was HORRIBLE! Two, are we to believe there are no strong women and that they all need rescuing?! Give me a break! Although Slivia was only in this story a hot minute, at least she appeared to be a woman who didn't need saving. I will finish out this series no doubt only to find out how Elisa and Dawson fair but this MUST get better quick! On my Were Scale of Hotness, 2 stars.
3.5 stars I enjoyed Nick and Selene's characters. Selene is a friend of Tamara from book 1 and she wants to check on her friend but she stumbles upon Darius after a accident and he takes her prisoner and that's where she meets Nick. Nick and Selene escape and neither wants to part with the other, sweet kisses and longing hold these two together. A lot f action, intrigue a d some mystery. I enjoyed this story . 3.5 stars review by Nanee at upallnightreadallday.blogspot.com
Wolf shifter Nick has been burned by love in the past and doesn't trust women because of it. However while caged by an enemy he meets fell captive Selene and finds himself desiring her like no other before her. I loved the chemistry between these two. It's explosive hot. The characters are strong, engaging and believable. The story is intense, sensual, exciting and well written. It's a good story. Another 4 STARS
Much more violent then book one of the series. Ms. Kirk expanded her world building, introducing new gifts to shifter mates as well as a witch/wolf shifter. The H and H were likable characters, though as in book one they could have used a bit more fleshing out. All and all I enjoyed the read and am looking forward to the next installment.
4.5 stars This book, Wolf’s Promise was much better than Wolf’s Haven. I loved it. There were some intense moments that weren’t there in the first book. You didn’t know what was going to happen from one instance to the next. Nick was the perfect Alpha male. I can’t wait to read the last book in the three book set that I bought.
I really liked Selena and Nick in this one. It was short though and I really wanted to read more about the problems within the pack but I wanted to know more about Nick and Selena themselves. Selena was so head strong I wanted to hear what problems she had and Nick's past seemed to be barely touched. Really enjoyed the story though and the drama just made me have to read more.
This is book 2 of the Caedmon Wolves series and is packed with just as much excitement and sensuality as the first. I was so excited to see that Devin and Tamara made an appearance throughout the second novel with the followup to their relationship. Nick was another alpha hero that I truly loved to read about.

While I was excited that this novel had Devin and Tamara in it, it mainly starred Nick and Selene. It was interesting to watch everything play out but it was so mediocre that this novel drove me partially mad. I don't know if I'll even consider reading the next novel in this series.
Kidnapped, now that sucks but being told that you are there to carry a crazy alphas baby...that's a little nuts. Tossed into a dungeon with a wolf without a clue that they are real starts a story full of true mates and hot sex. Oh yes!
