Fear Not: A 33-Day Cancer Devotional Journey to Commemorate Each Year of Christ's Life on Earth

Rate this book
So many people have been faced with that heart-stopping moment when the doctor announces that you (or your child or spouse or parent or friend) has cancer or something else equally frightening. This devotional is meant to give you the knowledge that God is with you every step of the way. There are a couple hundred places in the Bible when the voice of God echoes off a thousand hills:

• “Do not be afraid, for I am with you.”
• “If I am for you, who can be against you?”
• “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
• “Neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor anything will ever separate you from My love.”

The triumph of losing your fears may lay in these devotionals while you discover just how much it is that God loves you through days with people who have lived in your shoes.

I'm a Christian, a wife, a mom, a grandma, and a great-grandma who enjoys her family, friends, and writing.
I'm the author of The Truth Trilogy (The Roman's Quest; Marcus Varitor, Centurion; The Truth Doesn't Die), multiple short stories, some children's stories, and a devotional.
I live in Northern California with a super-friendly little mutt (Meggie Wigglesworth) and a queenly cat who comes to the name of Cleo when she feels like it.
I write reviews of books I like. Sorry--I will not write a negative review. In fact, I don't finish reading books I don't think well of. Don't have time for that.
By the way--I do not accept friend requests from people who hide their profiles--especially guys. I also do not accept friendship from guys "looking for a relationship."

Yes, I wrote some of the days' devotional encouragements, but most were written by people who have lived through probably the same level of fear that you are experiencing. It's my hope and prayer this book will pull you into God's comforting arms and bring peace to your life.

You should know--I will not make one single penny from the sale of this book. All of my royalties will go to cancer research.

The word of God is a river of life and within its pages are the answers to our everyday needs. In this inspirational read, you will discover information which speaks to your heart; that a heavenly father is carrying you through the darkest valleys of your life. These desperate times in life can be when the physician declares to you or perhaps a family member that you have a life threating disease or perhaps some different kind of tragedy. Filled with stories of people who have actually faced heartbreaking situations; you don’t want to miss out on this book. It is a wonderful collection of stories for those up against tough state of affairs. There is a scripture in each chapter and an inspiring diagram. Then at the end of each chapter a recommended prayer. While reading, I looked forward to every chapter, and I found the verses and perceptions helpful to my life in many ways.

Fear Not by Anne Baxter Campbell, is a 33 devotional book, one for each of the years Jesus lived. Although this book was primarily written for people dealing with cancer, there are many other fears we face, and that this book would be most appropriate for. There are a variety of contributors, having faced different health struggles or issues, even from Scripture: one whom had bled for 12 years, Hagar, Joshua and more, and how God worked in their lives.
The set up of this book is something I really like as it prepares you to get the most out of each chapter, by giving you a plan to follow each day.
PREPARE-Read the Scripture
PRAY-for God to open your eyes to see what He has for you in the days reading
READ-the devotional
PRAY-using the one enclosed in the book and let Him speak to you.
WRITE-what God is saying to you.

Each chapter begins with a Scripture verse, something to hold on to during the rough road ahead, a reminder, a promise, an encouragement, something directly from Him to you.

DAY 1
But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine.” Isaiah 43:1, NKJV pg. 7

What an awesome way to begin this journey, and a great reminder of whom we belong too.

Day 2
After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying,
“Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.” Genesis 15:1, NKJV

But there is so much more to this belonging to Him, and it may not always be easy, in fact, be prepared, but we have seen time and again in the Bible just how good God is to those whom follow His desires.

"Do you understand that God knows the desires of your heart, and that sometimes He must nudge you past your fears in order for those desires to be realized?" pg. 8

Can you pray this prayer today? If not, what is keeping you from doing so? Get on your knees and talk with Him, it will be worth the time.

"Prayer: Dear Lord, may what You want be what I want. May the desires of my heart be so in tune with Yours that I will be unafraid to ask, and may I remain grateful even when You say no or give me only the things I truly need—even if they are not the things I asked for.

Lord, this is what I believe I need:
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________.
Lord, let Your will be done. No matter what, I give You my praise. Amen. " pg. 8,9

Day 3
The woman had to decide between fear and faith. She said to herself, “If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well” (NKJV). She chose faith. Making her way to Jesus, she touched His cloak. Jesus turned and saw her. “Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well” (NKJV). pg. 10

Her faith had made her well. Do you have the faith to believe that if you would just reach out and touch Jesus that you too would be healed?

These are simple devotionals, but they carry such important truths, and lessons to remind us, to push us towards following the desires of God's heart for us. It is also a wonderful, fast reference of scriptures to commit to memory, to have on hand for the times when we struggle, help for those times when we don't know what or how to pray and more. Pick it up today, one for you and one for a friend in need. You won't be disappointed and you will bless someone big time.

I love the way Anne finishes this book, and I leave you with it now:
"Help me remember, Lord, You are bigger than the mountain, stronger than the tides, and gentler than the softest hug. No matter where I am, You are there. Thank You. Amen and Amen!" pg. 41

Five Stars isn't enough!!

How many times did Jesus say “Fear Not” in the gospels? How often did the Lord impart these words to those in Old Testament Israel facing life-altering situations? Do you long to hear those words from our Lord applied to your situation, knowing in the depth of your being that He walks with you through your own crises including, but not limited to, cancer?
Fear Not is a unique devotional journey that includes 33 devotions about fear, one for each year that Jesus walked on this earth. While it is a cancer journal – for those facing the “C” diagnosis either for themselves or for a loved one – I found that it is incredibly helpful to those facing the fears that go crash in the night and try to steal the peace of those with terminal or life-changing diseases. Anne Campbell has written devotions and compiled devotions penned by others facing cancer or life-changing diseases of their own or their loved ones. For those of you who have followed Diann Hunt and her writings, Anne Baxter Campbell dedicated this book to Diann and her legacy of faith.
Short and easy to digest in times of crisis, each devotion begins with a scripture and ends with an author-scripted prayer. The prayer includes space for the reader to include their specific challenges or fears that can be written or noted in. Fear Not can be use as a devotional journal and re-used for any situation in which one is fearful. This reader found that with every devotion, each scripture verse would begin to bring moments of comfort, many of them favorites that needed to be revisited. I could feel the sweet peace of the Holy Spirit begin to calm my restless spirit.
Each devotion addresses specific situations in the respective writer’s own life, and demonstrates that which opens the heart to receive God’s peace without discounting the feeling of fear, dread, or panic. Each is written in such a way that one could apply the simple, yet profound truths and comfort to their own life. Pointing, always pointing, to the Lord as the One who goes before us and with us into the storm or even the valley of the shadow. While I wish this had been written before losing my dear mother-in-law to cancer (only temporarily – we will meet again in heaven!) for her comfort and peace, in her final days she lived out these devotions in the precious hours we shared – and the desire from the depths of my heart is that my loved ones who do not yet know Jesus could seek and find His sweet love and peace while on this side of heaven.
I highly recommend Anne Baxter Campbell’s “Fear Not” to young adults and adults of any age, especially to those facing an unwanted, life-changing diagnosis, or challenges that seem insurmountable – in other words, everyone! The scriptures alone are a treasury; the devotions and prayers are a human touch of comfort provided by our Lord to remind us that we do not face our fears alone. We have Jesus, we have the testimony of these authors, and our friends and loved ones walking with us.

FEAR NOT is a 33-day devotional with selections written by the primary author and others. It is written for anyone facing giants (catastrophes) or enemies (diseases) or just anyone who needs reminding that our God wants us to live in trust, not fear . The author urges the reader to replace fear by drawing closer to God through whatever our trials may be. Her stated goal for us is that by the end of book we “will know Him better, trust Him more, and receive a small glimmer of just how immensely He loves {us}.” She reminds us that “He wants to walk with us through everything, good and bad, if we will just let Him.” Kathi Mathias in her forward to the book explains the book’s goal to encourage all of us to “let him hold your hand and walk beside you—and when you haven’t the strength to walk, lift your arms and allow Him to pick you up and carry you.”

The format of the book is that each day’s devotion contains a scripture, then a short incident from either the Bible or that particular author’s own struggles and her reflection on it. An invitation for the reader to let God speak to him or her follows, and an open-ended prayer completes the short daily reading. The stories are inspirational and encouraging. I received this book through The Book Club Network, but comments expressed are solely my own.

“Fear not for I am with you”
This is a wonderful devotional for anyone struggling with something in their life right now. Although I truly enjoyed it and found comfort in reading the devotions and my life is pretty calm at the moment! We all have life experiences that we found overwhelming, or still do. This book is set up with individual stories of struggle and how that person found healing through faith. Each devotion begins with a bible verse and then follows with a personal account of someone’s struggle. The devotion concludes with a prayer to help the reader on the path to healing. It can be read in small doses – one devotion a day – or several can be read together if you find you need more support. They don’t have to be read in order, either. This would be a wonderful book to give as a gift to someone you know who is living in fear or despair. It is described as a devotional for someone with a new diagnosis of cancer, but I feel it would be helpful for many others. It also would be wonderful to find this book in every hospital chapel and counselor waiting room. You never know whose life you could touch by inviting them to read just one devotional.

God wants us to live in His trust. So we need to remember to
“ Fear Not” but replace any fear with trust in God to help us
overcome whatever situation we face throughout life. Although
this was designed mainly for cancer patients, I found it helpful
to face other problems. In addition not only patients will benefit
but family members, friends and caretakers will receive insights
for coping by placing trust in God. This trust will always
overcome fear.
This is one of the easiest devotional to inspire and follow. It is a
33 day devotional. It is based on Jesus’ 33 years on earth as the
Son of God made man.
It presents to the reader a scripture followed by a prayer which
is presented for God to open your eyes to see what He has to
offer to you. The devotional for the reader comes next leading
into a prayer. Then there is a section which allows you to write
about what God is saying to you this day in the devotional.
Since receiving this as an eBook, I kept a note book for each
time I read the devotional.
“ Fear Not “ can be read everyday in the order of the book or
randomly just by opening the devotional when needing a
reminder of God’s support.
Thank you to book fun.org for this eBook. My opinion is my own.

Fear Not by Anne Baxter Campbell is a great devotional. It’s packed with Scripture and encouragement and a wonderful prayer at the end of each short, easily read devotion for every day. There are 33 days’ worth of devotions which is perfect. This book would be great to reread every month for the entire year. I believe that I will get something different out of each devotion each time I reread it. And if I have to skip a few days and then come back, the devotions are easily read together each day or periodically as I can read them.

Great book and it will offer encouragement not just for people who are walking through the journey of cancer, but also their family members, loved ones, or anyone walking through any trial in life.

This is a really encouraging devotional. It is filled with so much joy and hope. It is an easy and quick read for 33 days. Each day includes a Bible verse in NKJV, a life experience from someone who has lived through a tough situation, and a special prayer. Fear Not is incredibly uplifting and I could easily read it over and over again.

This was written for readers facing cancer and other fears. But as I read through the book, I was reminded no one is exempt from trials and this book would be great for all. I felt myself strengthened and encouraged just reading through each day’s devotional. Fear Not would make a special gift for anyone.

Fear Not by Anne Baxter Campbell is a great source of comfort and encouragement. This book, which includes contributions from multiple writers, shares thirty-three devotionals. Each of these devotionals begins with a scripture and continues with a short, personal story from someone who has faced cancer or other struggles. Each devotional concludes with a prayer and a place to record your own thoughts and fears.

We all face challenges in our life and Fear Not offers encouragement from God’s Word and from those who have faced fear and challenges in their own life. I enjoyed reading these words of comfort!

This book was just what I needed, even though I am not facing cancer at this time. Fear not is exactly what the devotions are about. Even though it says it's a Cancer devotional, it doesn't have to be just for cancer patients and/or their families. A Bible verse where we are told to Fear Not and then a short story about someone facing problems and how they leaned on God . This will be a book I return to over and over. It is short, only 33 days of devotion, but so helpful when we start to fear. The Bible tells us 365 times to "Fear Not" so I believe it is something we need to learn and keep on learning. As one for who fear is an ever present entity, this book is a source of great encouragement! I am learning, again, to leave everything in the Lord's hands. That dreaded C word (cancer) has entered our world, and learning to trust and not fear is an ever present struggle. I am grateful for those who took the time to write this devotional to allow others to learn from what they experienced.
This book makes a great gift for anyone, especially those facing fears!

A wonderful devotional.

This book was recommended to me by 2 different people when I diagnosed with breast cancer. There are a few different days that the reading is focused on fears connected with cancer. I was amazed though by how many different types of fears that are addressed in these daily devotions. It is very well balanced and each day’s reading draws the reader’s attention directly to God and how He takes care of us through any type of frightening situation.

Fear Not is a 33 day devotional that anyone can get something from. It is loaded with Scripture, prayers, and encouragement to be experienced by anyone. It is geared for cancer patients but anyone can get encouragement from the daily readings. Each time it is read something new is learned from the same readings.
