The writing was well crafted. The vocabulary, language, diction, sentence structure, all of it 10/10. The author did a masterful job at stringing sentences together and making it all flow.
As far as the story itself, the relationship between the fmc and mmc felt a bit uninspired. I wish there was stronger chemistry and a more dramatic build up. Their dynamic felt a bit weak, it was missing something. I also feel like the internal monologues went on for too long. Certain details kept getting repeated. For example, how many times did we need to be reminded that ezra found Naomi all those years ago in the alley after her brother passed. It got mentioned soooo many times. There were also some inconsistencies where they’d discuss certain things and then later pretend they weren’t aware. Or they’d say things then contradict themselves later in the story. Out of nowhere, they had these strong feelings for each other and it just wasn’t believable. I got bored by the halfway point and had to DNF.

Ezra wasn’t gangster enough for me. The plot didn’t develop with suspense. Problems presented themselves and then two chapters later, problem solved. Also, the spice took too long. We grown.
