He knows what it takes to make a comeback. She isn’t sure he deserves a second chance.
After a career-threatening injury, Georgia Jaguars defenseman Theo Williamson is fighting to prove he still has a future in hockey. The harder battle? Convincing Rebecca Bradley he deserves another chance at her heart.
After a career-threatening injury, Georgia Jaguars defenseman Theo Williamson is fighting to prove he still has a future in hockey. The harder battle? Convincing Becca Bradley he deserves another chance at her heart.
Eight years ago, when his father died, Theo shut Becca out instead of letting her help him through the hardest time of his life.
Becca rebuilt without him. She’s stronger now. More careful. And she definitely isn’t interested in letting him back into her life—no matter how sincere his apology sounds.
But when their meddling mothers trap them on a surprise vacation together, distance isn’t an option—and neither is ignoring the chemistry they never really lost.
Just when Becca starts to think Theo might be worth the risk, real life comes crashing in. Demanding schedules, hard days, and the uncertain shape of what a future together would even look like.
Soon, Theo realizes he isn’t just fighting to win Becca's heart. He’s fighting to believe he deserves to keep it—before the same old doubts convince him to let her go.
Jenny Proctor is an award-winning author of more than fourteen romantic comedies and an Amazon bestseller. She began her career in publishing in 2013; her writing has been a constant since then, but she's also spent time as the owner and managing editor of Midnight Owl Editors and the chair of the Storymakers Conference. Wired for relationships, Jenny loves public speaking, teaching, and building lasting connections.
Jenny was born in the mountains of Western North Carolina, a place she considers one of the loveliest on earth. She loves to hike with her family and spend time outdoors, but she also adores lounging around her home, reading great books or watching great movies and, when she’s lucky, eating delicious food she doesn’t have to prepare herself.
I always love reading Jenny Proctor's books. She's got such a way with her characters, and plots. I did not want to put this one down!
I love Becca! She's a traveling nurse. She and Theo had dated when they were in high school, but due to some rough times, they broke up a long time before the story opened, leaving them both with regrets.
Theo is a hockey player. I love that he and his twin brother have played together since they were little. But...Theo is currently injured and he's not sure if things are going to work out for him to go back to that. I love the way he's willing to drop everything to help Becca when she needs it.
I've got to give a shout out to Theo and Becca's meddling mammas. It was hilarious how they worked together to get them back together. I'll leave it up to you to read the book to see if their shenanigans worked or not.
You're definitely going to want to read this book! I love everything about it!
Oh I’m down bad myself for Theo Williamson. I was hooked from this book from the beginning. This is how you do second chance romance!!
I loved seeing Theo and Becca reconnect. It is tension filled and yet soft and sweet. They both had many conversations that needed to be had and I liked that there was arguing and push and pull and getting down to the grittiness of how crappy life can be sometimes. The way that they learned to lean on each other again and the fact that this gave me that soul mate level kind of love!!!
There were also some beautifully handled conversations around first loves, grief, and pain. As someone who personally deals with chronic pain I found a lot of what Theo was going through to be highly relatable. And I also just adored Becca too. She’s independent, a good friend, and works hard. I love when romantic characters stand as well on their own as they do together.
I could fawn over a dozen scenes in here. And getting to see other teammates and future set ups!! There’s not one weak moment in this entire book. I am head over heels smitten with these two.
I really enjoy Jenny Proctor’s writing, and honestly, I like her as a person even more, so I’m always happy to pick up one of her books. Here We Go Again wasn’t one of my favorites from her, but there was still quite a bit here that I enjoyed.
This is another romance set around the Atlanta hockey team we met in the previous book. That story focused on Carter Williamson, while this one follows his twin brother, Theo, and his high school girlfriend, Becca.
Becca is now a travel nurse who takes a contract in Atlanta with her best friend, Mia, putting her back in Theo’s orbit years after their relationship ended. Theo, meanwhile, is a professional hockey player working his way back from a hand injury. Naturally, old feelings start resurfacing.
One of my favorite parts of this book was actually Becca and Mia’s friendship. I love a female main character who is truly a girls’ girl, and Bekah is such a supportive, loving friend. I also adored the fact that Becca and Theo’s moms play pickleball together. 😂 There are lots of sweet little details like that throughout the story.
Second-chance romance can be tricky for me because the original breakup has to be something I can believe the couple can—and should—come back from. There were a few aspects of Theo and Becca’s breakup and what happened afterward that gave me pause, and I never completely got past them.
I also had some complicated feelings about the way sex and intimacy were discussed. I genuinely appreciate low-spice and closed-door romance, and I certainly don’t need explicit scenes for a relationship to feel romantic. But occasionally, books at this end of the romance spectrum can swing so far in the opposite direction that sex begins to carry an enormous amount of moral or emotional weight.
For me, some of the messaging here edged a little too close to purity-culture ideas that can equate a person’s sexuality with their worth or make physical intimacy feel like the defining measure of a relationship. That’s something I’m personally sensitive to, and it made parts of Theo and Becca’s relationship harder for me to connect with.
That said, their relationship is portrayed as very respectful, and I think plenty of readers will feel completely differently about the elements that bothered me. If you love second-chance romance, hockey romance, and sweet/closed-door love stories, this could absolutely be a winner for you.
There was a lot to like here, and while it wasn’t one of my favorite Jenny Proctor books, I’m still glad I read it—and I’ll definitely continue reading her work.
Theo’s dream of playing professional hockey for years alongside his brother might be cut short—literally—as he fights through the pain of recovery to stay with the Atlanta Jaguars.
After eight years of finding the strength to face her dreams again, Rebecca is travel nursing to save money for surgical nurse practitioner school in a new city—Atlanta.
When Theo runs into Rebecca all these years later, she must decide if he’s worth giving a second chance. Because while they’ve both spent years chasing their dreams separately, Theo can’t help wondering if the dream they wanted all along was getting to chase them together.
Forget about how smart Rebecca is in the medical field and how talented Theo is on the ice- they both excel in yearning. From the very beginning you feel the pain of what was lost in high school and the depth of forgiveness required to move on separately, let alone together. Theo’s time in therapy is definitely evident but it’s still so sweet to see Rebecca show him he’s worth the second chance.
Add in: meddling mothers, a beach stay in Florida, fun friends, and lots of kissing- another winner from Jenny Proctor.

If someone were to ever create a machine that could turn book characters into real life people, I’d have them start with Theo and Becca. Because the men of this world could stand to take some lessons from Theo. And I’m pretty sure some of us women need a Becca in our life.
I was hooked from the first page — forget housework, homeschooling, breathing, sleeping eating. I needed to know what happened next.
The characters are so real, so relatable. They aren’t perfect. They make mistakes, but they learn and grow from them — giving us a renewed outlook and helping us see our mistakes in the same light.
Becca mentioned falling in love again, but also the fact that it was new and old at the same time. Which is my favorite part of a second chance romance.
The whole cast of this book is the bomb. From the meddling mothers to the brother and friend support groups. One thing I’ve noticed a lot in Jenny’s books is children, and if you know me at all, children are my favorite. So having Carter’s nieces show up was the cherry on top.
Biggest thanks ever to Jenny, and Booked With the Emily’s for my ARC copy!
If you’re in the mood for a second chance romance with sizzling kisses, little to no swearing, with the best growth arcs, then you’ll want to read this one!
We’re back with the Georgia Jaguars, and this time the spotlight is on the other Williamson brother, Theo. As someone who loves a good second-chance romance, I really enjoyed watching Theo and Becca find their way back to each other.
Theo and Becca were still teenagers when he suddenly broke things off. Eight years later, they're kind of thrown together when Theo is brought into the ER after suffering a serious injury during a hockey match, and Becca is one of the scrub nurses on duty. Eight years is a long time to be apart, and I loved that their relationship wasn’t about simply picking up where they left off. They’ve both grown and changed, so getting to know each other again really did make this feel like a new relationship—but one with a history.
One of my favorite things was that Theo and Becca became friends again before restarting their romantic relationship. There was something special about watching that friendship develop and seeing them figure out what they wanted. I also loved Becca and Mia’s friendship. Give me women supporting women any day! And the way all the Jaguars’ wives and significant others welcomed Becca into the Jaguar family was another highlight. It made the whole group feel like a close-knit family.
Theo had quite the emotional journey in this book. He’s spent years blaming himself for his father’s death, and now he’s facing a severe injury that could potentially end the hockey career he’s worked so hard for. Add in processing his feelings for Becca after all these years, and he had a lot to work through.
I loved this second-chance romance and the reminder that sometimes people need time to grow before they’re ready to find their way back to each other. And that epilogue! 😍 I absolutely loved it and am already looking forward to the next addition to the Georgia Jaguars series!
I received a copy from Victory Editing via NetGalley. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
I didn't think Theo's story could be better than Carter's, but it was! And it was so addictive to read that I read it in a couple of hours, which is recommended, by the way. It helps that it's a long weekend and I had the time!
Here We Go Again by Jenny Proctor Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Age rating:15+ Spice:none
Hehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehhehehehehehehehehehehhehehehehehehehhehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehhehehehehehehehehehehhehehehehehehehhehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehhehehehehehehehehehehhehehehehehehehhehe SECOND CHANCE HOCKEY ROMCOM WITH AMAZING YEARNING, GREAT CHARACTERS, AND PERFECT CHEMISTRY WHAT MORE COULD A GIRL ASK FOR! I AM SAT AND WAITING FOR THE THIRD BOOK IDC IF ITS NOT MARCH YET IM READY AND WAITING THESE BOOKS ARE SO GOOD GO READ THEM RAHHHHH
Theo and Becca really made this book for me. They have that perfect mix of history, unresolved feelings, chemistry. The banter was cute, and I genuinely had such a good time reading this. Overall, nothing too complicated or dramatic. This book was such a cozy second chance romance with lovable characters.
“Control. Right. I am in control. Except … maybe not as much when it comes to Theo. Because for all my carefully crafted boundaries, for all the plans I’ve made to keep myself safe, that man always made me feel like tossing every single rule out the window and leaping into life with my arms wide open. Which is exactly why I can’t call him. I already tried it once and look where it landed me.”
This is the PERFECT second chance, romance, story of Theo and Becca! These once upon a time, high school sweethearts broke up after the death of Theo‘s father. Now, they just happen to be in the same town—Becca as a traveling nurse and Theo as hockey player for the Jaguars. Seeing each other after all these years, shouldn’t be a problem, right?
Oh. My. Heart! Every time I read a Jenny Proctor book, I think it’s my new favorite book she’s written, and here we go again! 😏 I was hooked on the story from page one and read every chance I got to find out more about what was going to happen with Becca and Theo!
These two were clearly meant to be with their history together and their undeniable chemistry! They were seriously just so cute as they tried to resist each other, but just couldn’t help themselves!! I loved that their meddling moms and a trip to Florida really helped seal the deal!
Favorite quotes:
“Rebecca Bradley is the only woman I’ve ever loved. And the echo of that love has been chasing me since our relationship ended. Every woman I meet has the unfortunate burden of being compared to her, and so far, no one has measured up.”
“For the record?” he says from his bedroom doorway. He gives me a teasing smirk. “I really like you in my shirt.”
“Yesterday’s decision to ask you out was pretty spur-of-the-moment. I was trying hard to comply with your wishes, since you said you weren’t interested. But generally…” His words trail off and he smiles, his expression chagrined. “I only had to hear your voice again to know I wanted another chance.”
Thank you victory editing and NetGalley for the ARC

I absolutely LOVED this one! 😍 Here We Go Again was such a sweet, emotional, feel good second chance romance, and I was completely invested in Theo and Becca from the beginning.
The second chance storyline really got me. Eight years is a long time to carry hurt and unfinished feelings, and I loved watching Theo work to earn Becca’s trust again instead of expecting everything to magically fall back into place. Their chemistry was SO good, and their forced vacation together was exactly the kind of meddling I love. 😂
I also really appreciated that this was a low-spice romance. There was plenty of tension, chemistry, and steamy kisses without the story needing to go beyond that. It gave me all the swoony romance feels without being over the top.
Theo’s journey was probably my favorite part. Watching him deal with his injury, his career, his past, and his feelings for Becca made his character feel so real. And Becca was strong, independent, and absolutely not going to make it easy for him which I LOVED.
This was such a fun, heartfelt read with hockey, second chances, great chemistry, meddling moms, and just enough angst to keep me turning the pages. Jenny Proctor definitely delivered a winner for me!
I love J.P.'s hockey romances - because we actually get some time on the ice, while most authors tell the sport romance without giving us time on the ice\field. J.P. knows her hockey, so she get isnin the ice and I love that! I loved that almost 1\2 the book the MC's are together. I love watching them work things out together, learning together, change for one another, help one another heal from past mistakes or issues. Our MC's had lots of time to do that and I loved watching them grow. I absolutely loved their time on the island and I'm so glad they went back there for their celebrations. I'm so glad I got to read the bonus epilogue, it was sooo good.

If you’re a fan of second chance love stories, this is one not to miss. I loved these characters!!! They had legitimate reasons for why their relationship fell apart, and it was so good to see the growth and maturity that brought them back together.
So sweet and fun! Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a closed door romance!!!
This is one of the best second chance romances I've ever read. I have a soft spot for high school sweethearts, since I married my own, and the author really captured that connection beautifully between Becca and Theo.
I loved the way they reconnected and the way they began to build their new relationship on the foundation of the love they had always had for each other. I loved the reality of the way they communicated and talked things through and especially the way Becca called Theo out when he wasn't communicated his fears. This allowed them to fix things going forward.
Ever since learning Theo's tragic backstory in When Alec Met Evie, I have really felt for his character (and for his twin, Carter, too). It has been wonderful to have them both get their own novels in this series. Here We Go Again is definitely one of my top favorites from this author.
Be aware that this is a closed door romance, however, the couple does discuss past intimacy in their teenage relationship.
I received a complimentary copy of this book, however, I also purchased my own print copy.
Thank you so much to Booked With Emilys & Jenny Proctor for a copy this book!
"I mean, I know it's early. I don't mean to imply-" "Please imply. Make all the assumptions, Bec. Whatever you think you might be feeling, I promise I'm already there."
Eeeeee! I LOVE THIS BOOK! I was hooked on the relationship between Theo & Becca! I really love second chance romance between that and set in the hockey world, I was seated. Listen I love me a good spicy romance but with Jenny's books she can make you still feel ooey and gooey without the intimate moments. I do not trust many authors with this task but with Jenny, I know I'm going to be smiling from start to finish. And I was swooning before even anything was happening between our couple!
I will admit, I was trying to remember Theo and Carter in the first book and luckily the way Jenny wrote this one, I was able to recall moments from the first book, Could've Fooled Me. Theo and Becca had this prior history dating while they were in high school and after his father died, their relationship changed causing them to break up. But their feelings never really went away and as luck would have it, Becca who is a traveling nurse, started a stint working in Georgia, near where Theo plays hockey. The moment she first sees him in the parking garage - swooon.
"Basically, you're saying you're obsessed with me?" "Obsessed is an understatement."
Theo knows that Becca is it for him. She is a little bit more hesitant especially when Theo was there to rescue her after she and her boyfriend breakup. So she was reeling from that and then scared that it was not going to work again with him. I totally understand her apprehension and I am glad that she decides to give him a try. He truly is such a golden retriever and a gem of a man.
There were just so many moments from the couple that I love from the MS walk to their week together on the Island to the team dinner. Just everything about them made me smile. I also love how Becca was not going to let history repeat itself when Theo showed signs from before when he would start to shut down. And this time Theo accepted the help and her presence.
Jenny has hinted what is coming ahead and I can't wait! I love being in this world and I especially want to see Mia find love. I loved her!
I recommend this if you are looking for a swoony, high school sweethearts to exes to lovers, hockey romance set in Georgia!
This was my first time reading a Jenny Proctor book and now I have read her whole backlist!
Becca is a traveling nurse working in Atlanta and hoping not to run into her hometown, ex-boyfriend who is now a professional hockey player. When their meddling moms get involved, they may have no choice but to reconnect.
I loved this book so much! It was SO well written and completely immersive. I was rooting for Becca and Theo the whole time and really appreciated their character growth. There is so much emotional depth to this story and undeniable chemistry. If you are looking for a swoony, hockey romance, highly recommend this one!
I received an eARC of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.
“But loving someone means loving the broken parts too. It means letting someone love our broken parts.” If you’re looking for a swoon-worthy second-chance romance, this is it! Theo and Becca were high school sweethearts until something tragic pulled them apart. Eight years later, they find their way back to each other, and their reunion is anything but simple. I really enjoyed the way Jenny intertwined the past and present, allowing us to see not only what happened between Theo and Becca, but also how much they had each grown and changed during their time apart. Their second-chance romance felt emotional and believable, especially as they worked through old wounds, unresolved feelings, and everything that had happened since they were teenagers. You could really see the history between them, which made their chemistry feel natural rather than forced. I loved watching them slowly reconnect and figure out whether the love they shared in high school could survive everything life had thrown at them.
The pacing was excellent, keeping the story moving without rushing the emotional moments. The balance between the past and present worked really well and added depth to both the characters and their relationship. Just when I wanted to know more about what had happened years ago, the story would give me another piece of the puzzle.
Overall, this was a heartfelt second-chance romance with plenty of emotion, relatable chemistry, and characters who felt like real people. Theo and Becca’s journey reminded me that sometimes love doesn’t disappear—it just gets buried beneath time, hurt, and circumstances.
If you love second-chance romance, forced proximity, and meddling mothers, you’ll want to pick this one up! Prepare for a laugh-out-loud, cute, and emotional ride.
LOVED this story! I am officially all in on Georgia Jaguars! Can't wait for more books from Jenny in this series!
Second chance. He's a hockey player. She's a traveling nurse. Never stopped loving each other. He tries to win her back.
What I loved: *Characters that read like family. Loved getting to know Theo and seeing his relationship wtih Carter from his perspective. Becca was a gem of a human and I adored seeing her let Theo back in and find happiness. Also the whole Jaguar's team -- can't wait for Holly's book! And can we anticipate some HEAs for Becca's sisters in the future?! *Second chance romance. I just love that Theo was fighting for Becca again and their love story was so sweet. *Hockey. I love hockey romance and this was such a fun one! I enjoyed the "injury and rehab" angle in this one. And it also broke my heart to see Theo fighting through that experience. The emotions and intensity were so raw and beautiful. Here for it.
Can't wait for Holly's book!!! That is going to be so fun!
I wanted to like this one as much as the first one, but unfortunately it just didn’t do it for me. They got together too quickly for my liking, and idk it just felt underdeveloped and like the plot outside of the romance should have been bigger.
Jenny Proctor has done it again—created a beautiful, funny, touching, romcom that has replaced all of her other books as my favorite. This happens every time Proctor releases a book. I would say it is problematic, except I want to keep reading new Jenny Proctor books. It is a problem I will just have to deal with. So for right now, Here We Go Again is my favorite.
Does anyone else have this problem or is it just me?
Here We Go Again focuses on Theo Williamson as he tries to reconnect with Becca, his ex girlfriend. As Theo tries to win over the woman he still love. Becca can only see the man who broke her heart 8 years earlier. The story that follows is full of heart, hope, and romance.
I loved how Proctor mixed so many tender, heartfelt moments with so much humor, banter, and swoony kisses. It was well done. The story flowed beautifully and felt so true to both Becca and Theo’s character. I loved how they reconnected again and how some things were easy and some tricky. It felt so real and honest.
As always, Proctor’s side characters shined in this story. I adored both Theo’s mom and Becca’s mom. Their matchmaking was brilliant. I love to see healthy, strong mother-child relationships in books, and this story delivered several wonderful examples. I also loved Theo’s teammates and their connections to each other. The book is set in the off season, so there isn’t too much hockey but there are plenty of hockey players.
I adored everything about this book. Becca and Theo’s story was so tender and full of hope. It was just a joy to read. I can’t wait to read it again or maybe I will listen to it next time.
If you want a beautiful story of healing and friendship and family and sweet and clean romance...this is the one for you!!! And bonus...it's a hockey book!
I loved the first book in this series, but this one blew it away in my opinion! I couldn't wait to get to Theo's story after reading a glimpse about him in this author's previous books. And wowsers! It was so good. And emotional! But I'm here for the emotions! I love watching characters have struggles and having to figure out how to move forward and find healing and sometimes forgiveness through their journey. And that is exactly what happens for Theo and Becca.
I loved that it wasn't this quick fix for the rift that had happened between them years before. I loved that Becca was willing to listen to Theo and accept his apology. I loved that she was torn from the pain and sorrow she had been through, but also still having feelings for Theo. It just warmed my heart watching them work together to heal, become friends again, and fall in love even more! *Sigh*
I can't wait to see what more is in store for all of the characters in this series, and who gets their own books! *Squeal* Get your hockey skates spruced up and be ready for all the fun and charm and emotions in this one!!!
Content: Clean. Some kisses but nothing further. Characters do talk about being intimate but waiting for marriage. The author has a note about this in the beginning of the book. There is talk about the death of a parent in the past as well.
I received a copy from the author through Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op, via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.
This is the second book in the Georgia Jaguars Hockey series. It's a kisses only contemporary romcom. It does have a standalone story, but I'd recommend reading book 1 first for the most enjoyment. These characters are interconnected and part of their story took place in book 1. Their story actually begins at the end of the Appies series of books. It would bring even more history to this book if you read When Alec Met Evie.
I was invested in this book from the beginning. I really loved how these 2 main characters were dealing with their past and their present. Theo has always been my favorite twin in this series. Watching him heal from past hurts and finally get his happily ever after was so satisfying.
Sometimes you just can't put a book down. I felt like that for most of it. I did play responsible adult and not stay up finishing. But then when I had an hour left, I didn't want to pick it back up again. Because I didn't want it to end. So, I ended up waiting until late wasting time and started my final 1 hour at 11 PM. It was worth it! (I knew I could sleep in the next day. So that was my treat.)
I was given the opportunity to read an advanced digital copy of this book through Netgalley. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Talk about your feel-good, second chance, super swoooony romance! Ya’ll this one is IT!
Theo & Becca have such a great story & they SHOWED UP with all the chemistry! But it’s not all fluffy, heart squeezing romance … there is depth in these pages. DEPTH. Lot’s of deep convos about deep things & life struggles that bring on all the emotions.
Absolutely every single thing about this book was so delicious!! And then Jenny went & sprinkled in a couple of well-meaning, meddling, match-making, pickle ball playing momma’s … and well, that just went & iced it all in a super sweet layer!
Sooo loving this series … and super excited for Holly & Indigo’s story up next!
💙 high school sweethearts 🏒 2nd chance romance 💙 forced proximity 🏒 meddling mommas 💙 scrabble 🏒 papaya paradise 💙 pickleball 🏒 “it’s always been you” 💙 super swoony swoon
🫶Thanks to Booked With The Emilys & Jenny Proctor for the gifted copy of this book.
This was the ultimate second chance romance, with some meddling mamas working their magic to give these two some time together.
Becca is a traveling nurse with dreams of more. She is on a short contract in Atlanta for now, until it is up. The last thing she wants is a run in with her ex, Theo. But Theo sought her out. Once he knew she was in town, he was determined to meet with her. At first, he just wanted to apologize. It was therapeutic and felt like the only way forward. But as they spend more time together, sometimes aided by their parents, they start wanting to pick up where they left off. But hearts were broken back then, and both of their futures are still up in the air.
I loved being back with Theo and Carter. I met these two back in When Alec Met Evie, and I loved Carter's romance. I am so glad Theo got his HEA, too. Now I am excited to see who is next. Holly, Indigo, Mia, Blake?
I received a complimentary copy. This review reflects my honest opinion.
I just knew Theo’s story was going to be good. And I loved every minute. This is what I adore about second chance romance.
They fell in love when they were young but circumstance and tragedy pulled them apart. Years later, Becca is a surgical nurse and Theo is a hockey star. After his injury, their paths collide again.
So many things. The chemistry. The pining. The fiery kisses. It’s all there and then some.
The family aspect was such a good touch. Loved their moms, the interactions with the team and of course Theo’s relationship with his twin brother Carter. They are adorable.
Such a fun read. I binged it! Highly recommend adding to your TBR but I would read book one first!
Thank you to Jenny Proctor and Bookedwiththeemilys for my #earc!
I am obsessed with Becca and Theo. I am a sucker for a second chance romance and this one was perfection. There are such deep topics that are covered and I felt like everything was handled in such a great way. Theo has been through a lot and seeing him grow up and mature after seeing his self-destruction behavior in When Alec met Evie (The Appies) was the perfect closure. Becca is such a sweetheart and I just loved how understanding and patient she is with Theo. Their chemistry and love could be felt through the pages. I teared up and I can't recommend it enough.
I’m learning I’m a sucker for a good second chance romance. The chemistry between these two was fireeeee. 🔥💃🏼 Even more than that, their forgiveness and healing were so, so strong. They sought help, grew in their communication, and learned to love one another, flaws and all. This has been my fave of the two in this series thus far, but I’m super excited to see Holly’s love story play out too. 🤭🤗
Thank you Booked with the Emilys and Jenny Proctor for the gifted copy of this ebook. All opinions are my own.
There are books of which you just know in advance that they are going to win over your heart and I have no problem admitting that after book 1 in this series, I was absolutely prejudiced about this next book. That also involves a risk, because you might get disappointed… But not with Jenny Proctor: it was once again a compelling, warm, funny and complete story! So the fact that the cover for book 3 was revealed while reading only makes me look forward even more to what is to come in this series!
I always have mixed feelings about second-chance romances: I believe everyone deserves a second chance, but I often find what happened in the past so essential to the trust between the couple that I don't realistically believe in it or even feel resistance to it. But not here: Jenny Proctor completely convinced me with this second-chance romance! Theo and Becca didn't break up because of a silly misunderstanding that could have been resolved in a single conversation, nor is the pain from the past brushed aside just because they still have feelings for each other. Theo has to take responsibility for what he did and Becca gets to be careful with her heart and stand up for the life she has built in the meantime. I love a vulnerable MMC, where therapy is treated as part of their personal growth and a strong FMC who is independent and can hold her own. That made their second chance so much more believable to me.
I must say that I also really loved the moms: I really had to laugh out loud at their lack of subtle matchmaking! I found the warm relationships between the parents and their adult children to be a wonderful addition to the story and something that inspires me in my own mother-son relationship!
As someone who has been battling her own body and chronic pain for nearly 20 years, that part of Theo's story was also very relatable to me and something that completely drew me into the narrative and made me root for him to get everything sorted out. You just want his hockey career not to be over yet and for him to be able to trust his body again without problems and go all out for his game, alongside his teammates and certainly with his twin brother!
