When I get an opportunity to read the latest Steve Cavanagh book-It goes straight to the top of my ARC pile-regardless of publication date! So here we are!
“The worst times of your life seem to last an age”
And, the book opens with Eddie Flynn having one of those moments-as he wakes up in the trunk of a moving car, wondering if when his abductors pull him out, he will be taking his last walk….
But, of course, we will have to circle back to that.
How did he end up in this predicament? It started FIVE MONTHS earlier with a MURDER….
Patrick Vanderpool, son of a billionaire media mogul, is running for Political Office but the affair he's having could derail everything.
Vanessa Vanderpool, is his wife, and she is not about to turn a blind eye to this affair. She has warned the young lady in question-Molly Green-to stay away from Patrick but she doesn’t appear to be listening.
She arrives at Molly’s apartment and waits until she sees her husband leave.
When the “OTHER WOMAN” is found brutally murdered, there are only two suspects.

Was Molly dead when Vanessa arrived or was Vanessa the one who killed her?
ONE OF THEM IS GUILTY
The story unfolds through various viewpoints but mostly through those of Patrick, Vanessa and our FAVORITE Conman turned defense lawyer the VERY VERY CLEVER Eddie Flynn. Because both suspects are sharing their version of the truth, there is some repetition in the chapters, as parts of their story are identical-but parts are drastically different.
We find out how events led to this outcome beginning SIX weeks prior to the MURDER and then learn more about halfway through the book when the TRIAL begins-circling back to the trunk of the car BEFORE there is a verdict.
Since Eddie’s partner Kate left the law firm in the last book, it’s Eddie and Harry at the Defense table, and nothing could make me happier as Eddie will take RISKS at Trial which the straight laced Kate wouldn’t, making for a much more ENTERTAINING experience in the Courtroom.
Bloch (FEARLESS!) and Gabriel Lake are still investigating and Denise is still running the office so we get to catch up with them and others from earlier books. Although this can be read as a standalone, the relationships between the characters grow and evolve throughout the series, so it is beneficial to read them in order to appreciate that.
I was correct with many of my guesses, but there was a twist in the end that I didn’t suspect making this another COMPELLING read and nearly impossible to put down!
Will we get an Eddie Flynn book 11? I have no idea but I would be all for it, and that SPEAKS VOLUMES because as a general rule-I don’t like many series-but I can’t seem to get enough of this one!

Did I start and finish this in one day? Let's just say I finished all my household chores while listening to this book😅😅
I just love Eddie and his brain. Some parts of this were predictable for me seeing as this is my 10th Eddie Flynn book😅 That didn't dull my enjoyment though because I just love a good and tense courtroom drama!

I'm officially addicted to Eddie Flynn.
At this point, every time Steve Cavanagh announces a new book, I mentally lock my front door, silence my phone, cancel my plans, and disappear from society until I've devoured every single page. Please don't look for me. I'll emerge several hours later looking slightly unhinged, begging for the next installment like a wounded animal because these books are simply never long enough for my greedy reading appetite.
This series should come with a warning label:
Highly addictive. Sleep deprivation guaranteed.
This latest installment grabs you by the throat from page one. What initially looks like a juicy domestic thriller—a betrayed wife discovering her powerful husband is having an affair—quickly mutates into something much darker, bloodier, and infinitely more complicated.
Vanessa Vanderpool discovers that her husband Patrick, the privileged son of a media empire and reluctant political golden boy, has been cheating on her with his assistant, Molly. Jealousy gives Vanessa an obvious motive.
Meanwhile, Patrick walks into Molly's apartment believing he's escaping his miserable life, only to discover something in her diary that completely destroys everything he thought he knew about the woman he loved. Suddenly, betrayal fuels his own motive.
Two people.
Two excellent motives.
One horrifying murder.
Then comes the crime scene that made my jaw hit the floor.
Molly is found brutally murdered. Her head is missing. The killer leaves behind virtually no forensic evidence. The only breadcrumbs investigators have are security camera recordings showing who entered and exited the apartment building.
Unfortunately for both Patrick and Vanessa...
...they're both on camera.
Talk about a nightmare.
Enter my favorite fictional attorney, Eddie Flynn.
Patrick's legal team conveniently develops a sudden "conflict of interest" and refuses to represent Vanessa, leaving Eddie to step in as her defense attorney.
Please.
We all know that's complete nonsense.
It's painfully obvious someone wants Vanessa isolated with lawyers they can manipulate while protecting the interests of Patrick's father—a ruthless media mogul whose money, political influence, and willingness to weaponize public opinion make him far more terrifying than many serial killers I've encountered in thrillers.
One of the things I adore most about Eddie is that he refuses to defend someone simply because he can win. He still carries the emotional scars of mistakes from previous cases and desperately wants to believe his clients deserve saving.
Vanessa doesn't exactly make that easy.
She lies.
She hides things.
She constantly raises red flags.
But Eddie's instincts keep whispering the same thing.
She's hiding something...
...just not murder.
Watching him peel away layers of deception while questioning everyone—including his own judgment—is exactly why this series never gets old.
And then...
THAT OPENING.
Steve Cavanagh is absolutely evil.
The novel opens with Eddie trapped inside a car trunk, battered, bleeding, and seemingly moments away from death.
Excuse me?!
How am I supposed to calmly continue reading after that?
I spent the entire novel internally screaming, "Please don't let this be Eddie's last case!"
The suspense never lets up.
Thankfully, Harry Ford, Bloch, and Lake are once again by Eddie's side, and honestly, every reunion with this team feels like catching up with old friends. Their chemistry, loyalty, and perfectly timed humor balance the relentless tension beautifully.
But this time the stakes are even higher.
The enemy isn't just trying to destroy Eddie professionally.
They're coming after his family.
His future.
His custody battle.
His entire life.
As the investigation unfolds, the murder of Molly begins connecting to an older cold case with horrifying similarities, revealing secrets buried beneath layers of wealth, privilege, corruption, and carefully manufactured public images. Every revelation made me question everything I thought I knew.
Just when I felt confident I'd figured it out...
Steve Cavanagh smiled somewhere across the universe and pulled the rug out from under me.
Again.
And again.
And one more time for good measure.
The man simply refuses to let his readers feel comfortable.
What I continue to admire about this series is that the courtroom scenes are just as exhilarating as the investigations. Every cross-examination feels like watching a championship chess match where one wrong move could destroy an innocent person's life. Few authors write legal thrillers with this much energy, intelligence, and cinematic pacing.
Then came the ending.
That final conversation between Eddie and his client absolutely shattered me.
No explosions.
No dramatic chase.
Just an emotionally devastating exchange that quietly broke my heart far more effectively than any action sequence ever could.
That's Steve Cavanagh's greatest strength. Beneath all the breathtaking twists, impossible puzzles, courtroom fireworks, and relentless pacing lies genuine humanity. He reminds us that every case is ultimately about people—their mistakes, regrets, sacrifices, and impossible choices.
I honestly don't know how this author keeps topping himself, but somehow every Eddie Flynn novel leaves me even more obsessed than the last.
This series has become my ultimate guilty pleasure—the literary equivalent of saying, "Just one more chapter," until the birds outside start singing.
If you've somehow managed to avoid Eddie Flynn until now, fix that immediately.
Your sleep schedule may never recover...
...but it will be worth every exhausted minute.

Clawed me in from the get go!!
A husband is having an affair. His wife discovers the truth. The other woman is found murdered. Husband and wife both visited her separately on the night she was killed, and both are caught on CCTV. Only one question remains… who did it?
The courtroom chapters were hugely entertaining, packed with clever legal arguments that kept me completely invested. Eddie’s sharp comeback lines had me chuckling. A few scenes did feel unrealistic, but I had so much fun reading this story that I didn’t really mind. I just had to know who killed Molly.
You can never go wrong with a bit of rich people drama. The politics, the power, the bribery and the media manipulation all made for a thoroughly entertaining read. I loved every minute of it.
The build up is excellent, with non stop suspense that keeps you hooked from the get go. Steve Cavanagh is a brilliant writer who really knows how to reel you in and keep you completely engaged throughout. It is fast paced, action packed and difficult to put down. I guessed a couple of the twists, and I do think it could have been a little shorter, as some chapters were more descriptive than they needed to be.
Overall, this was a thoroughly entertaining legal mystery and a proper thrill ride from start to finish. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Love this series. Eddie Flynn is at it again.
This time its a murder case and the alleged killer(s) are part of one of the most powerful families in the US.
Eddie is representing the wife Vanessa but doesn't believe she's entirely innocent. Or guilty.
Vanessa was there the night of the murder following her husband who she thinks is cheating.
The victim Molly was a woman who worked for Vanessas husband Patrick.
Although they thought the victim was Molly when they found her she'd been decapitated. Vanessa, Eddie thought couldn't have done this.
This leads Eddie and his crew searching into Patricks family and why Molly was murdered.
Lots of twists in this book. If you've read the previous books this is a great addition to Eddies story

I am always excited for a new Eddie Flynn book, can you believe this is book 10! I love a good legal thriller and Eddie is one of my favourites. Former conman turned lawyer, Eddie has away of looking at the evidence in a different context to most, and he is not afraid to say what he really thinks, landing him in trouble most of the time. That is kind of lawyers you want on your side.
Highly addictive and very easy to binge read, One of Us is Guilty is one of his toughest and dangerous cases. He is up against the might of the powerful Vanderpool family who are ridiculously rich and own most of the media companies in New York. They are willing to do anything to protect their own.
I love Eddie and his trusted team of Harry, Bloch, Lake and of course Denise. They are all fiercely loyal to Eddie and will do whatever it takes to get the answers. There is always tension around these huge cases and it makes for an amazing read. The courtroom scenes are always my favourites, and more so in this book where everyone is against him and his client.
Another incredible read from Steve Cavanagh. Thank you so much to Headline for allowing me to read this book early. Out on July 30th.

What a brilliant read.
This book starts out as any other murder mystery. But with Steve Cavanagh, nothing is ever as it seems.
It is an unputdownable novel in the truest sense of the word, and i raced through it, only to be disappointed that I'd read it so quickly and now I have a long wait for the next Eddie Flynn book!

Only I would start a series I have been meaning to start for ages on book 10, even though I own all the other 9 books in the series. Why? because I was approved for the ARC of this book and I have no control! However I am proof that you can totally read this series as standalones! Might I have rated it a straight 5 stars had I read them in order? Possibly. Will I go back and start the series as Steve intended and read them chronologically? also yes. Will i end up re-reading this book once I've made my way through all 9 preceding books? most probably!
I must be going through a total legal thriller vibe because this was the 2nd legal thriller book I devoured in July! This was just so fast paced with the short punchy chapters that it made it incredibly addictive and I couldn't put it down.
I always enjoy rich people drama and this was next level! A multiple POV book, with multiple twists, courtroom drama and an ending with a bang! I'm glad I got to finally meet Eddie and the gang!!

Another enjoyable Eddie Flynn book. Nothing too special about the plot or writing but I still highly enjoy it. Great narrator.

Wow! Where do I even begin with this fast-paced crime thriller?
The story opens with a gruesome murder, and at the center of it all is a wealthy, powerful couple. Molly, the victim, was an assistant on Patrick’s political campaign, and also his mistress. Vanessa, Patrick’s wife, knew about the affair and understood that her life would be forever changed if it continued. So when Molly ends up murdered, everyone becomes a suspect. Was it the charming, up-and-coming governor trying to save his career? Or the scorned wife pushed to her breaking point?
I had no idea this was book 10 in the series when I requested it on NetGalley, but I was able to jump right in without feeling lost. The author does an excellent job of making the story accessible for new readers while still making me want to go back and read the earlier books.
From beginning to end, this book had my anxiety through the roof. I actually had to take several breaks between chapters just to calm my heart rate! It was a wild, twist-filled ride that kept me guessing until the very end. I’d happily have Eddie Flynn as my lawyer anytime. I loved this book so much that I can’t wait to go back and read the rest of the series!

Great book from start to finish, managed to read the book in one straight day after a stressful time at work. This book took all my worries away, and provided some rest bite. It’s a great book from start to finish, it’s unpredictable and typical Eddie Flynn fashion, I’ve missed this character - his confidence, his flare and persona to tackle everything head on when the case is against him and he’s fighting almost a losing battle. There’s not a dull moment in the book, and just as the book finishes there’s another twist that I definitely didn’t see coming.
We meet Patrick Vanderpool who is the son of a billionaire media mogul, and destined for power but he’s having an affair that could ruin everything. Vanessa Vanderpool is married to Patrick, and she has her own ambitions. But the affair that he’s having could ruin everything. But when the other woman is found brutally murdered, there are only two suspects. One of them is guilty, but which one?
Overall a great quality book, definitely worth the time investment - you won’t be disappointed, and I haven’t been disappointed at all in the Eddie Flynn series. It’s always been a regular staple in the series I follow.

When this proof popped through my letterbox last Friday, I just couldn’t believe my luck! This is my favourite thriller series, so I just couldn’t resist diving into this latest one straight away.
And what a rollercoaster of a ride it was: it was absolutely BRILLIANT! Eddie Flynn fans, you’re in for a real treat with this one.
Once more, Steve Cavanagh stuns and surprises with his cleverly written plot, which is intricately woven together like a spider’s web. I loved the different POVs, the different scenarios, and the wit and humour woven throughout.
I just love it when Eddie stands up to begin a trial in court: I get a tingle of excitement with the anticipation of seeing how he’s going to handle each case, and I adore seeing how he outwits his adversaries, and takes them down a peg or two.
Theres a lot more to this story than the courtroom though, and I loved seeing Bloch and Lake play a part in the action again. I was on tenterhooks the whole way through: wondering what was going to happen next, and who the guilty person was. For once, I did wonder if Eddie had backed the right person.
This is the tenth book in this series, and I just relished every page and chapter. It’s an action-packed, masterfully crafted read, and it’s my new favourite book in the series! 🙌🙌

Another great Eddie Flynn novel! One of Us is Guilty actually made me squeamish and that never happens. I love seeing what kind of antics Flynn and his team get up to. Such great characters and I love how well they work together. This was a great installment.

Yes, yes, yes! Steve Cavanagh has whacked his latest Eddie Flynn book way out of the park. This is a very clever put together plot that moves at a relentless pace and had me on the edge of my seat for the entire book. The courtroom scenes are so brilliantly done and Eddie proves why he is one of my most favourite characters in a book. There are twists and turns that will leave you gasping and oh my that ending - did not see that coming. Sheer brilliance. Steve Cavanagh is the absolute master of a courtroom drama and ten books in he is still very firmly at the top of his game. I have given every book in this series five stars and this one is no different. Outstanding

A while back, I read a standalone book by Steve Cavanagh called "Twisted". That was a good word to describe most of his books, this one included. You might think you've figured out what's going on as you read, but you haven't. You might think you have an idea about what's going to happen, but you'll probably be wrong.
So, just read and enjoy the ride, and don't waste energy trying to figure it our ahead of time. There's plenty to keep it interesting, so enjoy.

Holy crap, I love this Eddie Flynn series so much. It genuinely just keeps getting better and better, and I honestly don't know how Steve Cavanagh still has ideas left because every book somehow manages to top the last one.
One of Us Is Guilty follows Patrick and Vanessa Vanderpool, a powerful couple whose lives are turned upside down when Patrick's mistress is found brutally murdered. With only two suspects and secrets everywhere, Eddie Flynn is pulled into another dangerous case where nothing is as straightforward as it seems.
This book had me punching my bed multiple times because I kept thinking, "Are you serious right now? That did not just happen." The twists were absolutely insane and delivered everything I want from a legal thriller. I was completely locked in from beginning to end. Cavanagh's knowledge of the legal world always shines through, and it makes these books feel so authentic.
I also loved how the story bounced between different characters and POVs without ever becoming confusing. Everything came together perfectly, and every perspective added something important to the bigger picture.
One thing I really appreciate about this series is that these books can absolutely be read as standalones, and you'd have no problem jumping in here. But following Eddie Flynn throughout the series and watching him grow has been amazing. He's not only a complete badass, but he's also incredibly smart, witty, and exactly the kind of lawyer you'd want on your side, even if he tends to do things the Eddie Flynn way.
Another phenomenal installment and easily one of my favorite legal thriller series ever. Read this immediately. You will not regret it.

Steve Cavanagh is one of my favorite thriller writers. Every book he writes has been incredible and innovative and this one is no different. Eddie is still charming and chaotic. I would die for Harry, honestly. There was a lot going on in this book but I didn’t know who the killer was until the very end.
Highly recommend if you like legal thrillers. The court room scenes are always top tier. This is the 10th book in the Eddie Flynn series but could also serve as a stand alone.

Although I have all nine previous Eddie Flynn books sitting on my shelf, I somehow started the series with an advanced copy of One of Us Is Guilty instead… go figure!
If there’s ever been a sign to finally get my shit together and properly work my way through this series, this book was the sign that smacked some sense into me because I absolutely loved this.
The courtroom scenes were phenomenal, the writing had me completely immersed, and I could visualise everything so clearly it genuinely felt like a movie playing out inside my head while I was reading. Those short chapters combined with the pacing made this ridiculously addictive and I flew through it.
Throw in rich people superiority complexes, multiple POVs, corruption, layered reveals, courtroom drama and an ending I absolutely did not see coming, and this became exactly my kind of thriller.
This book was basically catnip for me. Safe to say I’ll now be heading back to finally start the Eddie Flynn series from the beginning because if One of Us Is Guilty was this good, I need to know what I’ve apparently been missing out on all this time.

Steve Cavanagh is one of my favorite authors and I eagerly await each of his releases, so when I got a bookseller proof copy I had to read it immediately.
I knew Eddie Flynn 10 was going to be a big one and it absolutely did NOT disappoint!!
One of Us Is Guilty puts a wealthy, high-profile couple at the center of a gripping murder investigation. Eddie Flynn, as always, finds himself risking everything to uncover the truth and the stakes have truly never been higher.
The book is packed with clever details and hidden clues, and I didn't see a single twist coming. ESPECIALLY that final chapter. Steve. You are brilliant.
I genuinely can't wait to get this into the hands of everyone and share this brilliant book with them!

Well... Steve Cavanagh got me again. At this point, Eddie Flynn could cross-examine me into confessing to things I didn't do. By the end, I felt like I'd earned jury duty credit.
This psychological legal thriller follows a wealthy, high-profile couple whose marriage is imploding, and both have compelling reasons to want the mistress dead. Turns out "till death do us part" wasn't just a wedding vow.
Never bet against Eddie Flynn—especially in a courtroom. He's hands-down one of my favorite fictional characters. There's something irresistible about a defense attorney who's always three steps ahead, can spot a lie before it's spoken, and treats the courtroom like his own chessboard. My favorite scenes were the courtroom showdowns. His bold, fearless tactics—especially his exchanges with the judge—never got old.
And can we talk about Bloch? She's every bit as smart, fearless, and capable as Eddie, and I loved every scene she was in. Together, they're such a fun team to root for.

One of Us Is Guilty was a fast paced and addictive legal thriller that had me hooked from its first page. I adore this series and this new book didn’t disappoint one second.
I loved the mystery surrounding the murder and the question of whether Patrick or Vanessa were the actual villains. There were plenty of twists, secrets and surprises, and I kept changing my mind about what had really happened. The short chapters made this such an easy book to binge, and I found it very difficult to put it down.
The courtroom scenes were some of my favourite parts, and Eddie was a fantastic character as always. I also enjoyed the interactions between him and his team and the way they worked together.
Overall, this was a gripping and entertaining thriller with plenty of suspense, drama and courtroom action. That ending definitely left me wanting more and I’m a forever fan of this author.

So happy to reunite with Flynn, Bloch, Lake, and Harry! Flynn and Bloch are seriously the most badass lawyer/investigator duo ever. This is only my second Eddie Flynn novel, and while I'm sure longtime readers get some extra context, everything is explained so well that I never felt lost. Essentially, Flynn is tasked with representing a client accused of murdering her husband's political aide. The corruption among the ultra-rich had me yelling at the book, so frustrating! My only small complaint is that the multiple POVs sometimes made things feel repetitive since certain events were covered more than once. Overall this was a fun, twisty legal thriller with plenty of action and funny moments that kept me guessing until near the end. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

At every stage you think you have the murderer figured out, and Eddie Flynn is having the wool pulled over his eyes. But of course he’s not, and he has more tricks up his sleeve than any prosecution in his way. Everything we have come to expect from a Steve Cavanagh book is in here, cunning, wit and brilliant story telling. Thank you to Netgalley for the advance reader copy.
