Crazygirl tells the story of Penelope Jones, a single lawyer living in London trying to find her way through a toxic work environment, a thirteen-coffee-a-day addiction and a group of girlfriends who keep leading her astray (or is she leading them?). Coupled with an inconvenient affection towards the elusive ‘Stranger’ and her evil ex-fiance wreaking havoc on her professional integrity, things aren't going well. Then she meets Blue, waiter and DJ extraordinaire. Penelope considers him condescending and undesirable at first, but over the course of ten days discovers he is not all he once appeared.
Hello! I'm Allie. I'm a Polish-Australian-Libyan-born engineer living in London. I like to write books. I also like Nandos. I don't like running, but I run lots because I like Nandos.
How to rate this book? At the start I really didn't like it but the last third was great.
The story follows Penny, a late twenties, single lawyer who lives in London. She hates her job, drinks too much, loves a good fight and is obsessed with finding a man. She has three close friends and they seem to spend all of their time phoning each other, going out partying and discussing their disastrous love lives. So far so sex in the city, albeit London rather than New York.
What annoyed me at the start of this book was it seemed to be a bit of a rip off of that show with a bit of Bridget Jones flung in for good measure. Penny isn't that likeable, she's supposed to be an intelligent, professional women but spends her time slacking off at work, being rude and obsessing over some loser guy because he's good looking. The fact that she and her friends score everyone out of 10 based on looks, personality and career to determine their suitability as partners really wound me up.
The story did pick up however around about the time she started to have a meltdown. It was so good to see her finally find a bit of self respect and backbone. I love it when people snap and finally say what they really mean. I wish I could do it myself at times.

I found this novel on the Kindle Store for free and so I thought that I would give it a go. This is a fun, cute story to read, it features the main character Penelope Jones who has a mean ex-fiance and the meets Blue who she reads completely wrong as she thinks he is undesirable, this book goes to show you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. It is a good lighthearted, fun book and one that will make you want Penelope as your friend
The second half of this far outweighs the first, but overall I enjoyed it. There were soooo many references to SATC, and it felt like plot lines, characters, and dialog were taken straight from the show, but being a huge fan of that show it didn’t bother me too much. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right? So perhaps the author is just a huge fan too.
I find with chick lit you can’t really expect groundbreaking material, so as long as I’m entertained I call it a win.
I wanted a quirky chic-lit Sophia Kinsella type of book but this didn't cut it. For me anyway. There are many others who will probably love this and being an anti "romance novels" person I do have to say that it held me far longer than I at first thought it would. But in the end it's simply not the read I am wanting on these fresh warm summer days.
When I stay up all night reading, I know it's a really good book. Am so sorry it's over, hope she wrote more. This book would be great for anyone who loves to get really involved with the characters in a story. Penney is so interesting and complex, as are her friends. Very fun book.
Absolutely amazing writing, just the right book to make you feel some girl power! The author just captures the female psyche so intensely and her smooth writing style resonated with me. I am an avid chick lit reader (british or otherwise) and this is definitely top 3 in flow, writing style, and interest. Please write more crazygirl books!!
the story was ok. at the beginning it is very confusing the way it is written with mixed names and facts. in general the way it is written is like you are talking with a girlfriend of yours, what happened yesterday, what did he tell you and that sort of stuff. from the middle onwards it gets easier.
This story really had me laughing most of the time. The characters are realistic, as they are not perfect. Most of the situations Penny finds herself in are spot on. Who wouldn't want to take down a cheating ex who is borderline mental.
I really enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone in the dating scene or not.
Modern romance, with an awkward, feisty, fickle female main character. Although slightly predictable, it was well-written and entertaining, and I'm currently on the hunt for the author's next book.
At first I wasn't sure about about Penny and her exploits but very quickly I was hooked and happy to be along for the ride. Funny and touching. I definitely want a sequel, Alexandra!! What will Penny do next?
I really loved this book. The main character is the sort you are really rooting for all the way through. So glad the ending gave me that feel good feeling.
Total jibberish! FULL of typos, missed words and repeated words. Really shallow characters who are only interested in sex and drinking. Avoid this one!
Fun, cute chick lit. Enjoyed it, though sometimes the mc's rambling was a little much, and I wish Blue was in the story more. Would read more from the author.
At first I was a bit sceptical as it seemed a bit dull. The more I read the more I felt that I couldn't put the book down. It was a very enjoyable read.
If you are ok with the use of the word "retard" to disparage people then you may be able to get through this book. It is stunning no one from the author to her editors thought this was not ok.
