Good information about Alzheimer’s and dementia. Learned about what’s going on and how to relate to it. Helped me to accept certain behaviors and develop appropriate responses.
I'm going with 4 stars for overall content and relevance.
This book is complete, concise & clear in its approach to the various aspects of the disease, including the medical science, the psychology, behaviors, treatment, therapies, etc. For anyone trying to understand the basics of the disease and/or who may be facing the care and support of someone with the disease, it's a solid resource.
However, this book, like many others, is understandably dated and like any written work can't be reflective of current advancements and changes in knowledge, treatments and therapy options.
This book helps me understand my mother, who has not exhibited the typical Alzheimer's behaviors. It also helps with caregiver loss of identity and self.
