Born in the small Welsh town of Llanelli, Steven began writing stories at the age of eight. His inspiration came from his love for ‘80s horror movies, and novels by Stephen King and the late Richard Matheson.
During Steven’s teenage years, as well as being a black-belt kickboxer, he became a great lover of writing dark and twisted poems – six of which gained him publications with Poetry Now, Brownstone Books, and Strong Words.
Over the next few years, and after becoming a father and a husband, Steven's passion drove him towards writing short stories, gaining him further publication with Dark Moon Digest: an American horror magazine. His terrifying tales of the afterlife and zombies gained him positive reviews, particularly his story, Burning Ambition, which also came runner up in a Five-stop-story contest.
Finally, in 2013, after years of hard work (and countless rejection letters), Steven got his debut novel, Fourteen Days, published by Barking Rain Press.
Great collection of short stories that will satisfy ALL horror lovers. I never liked this genre until I started reading books written by Steven Jenkins. Now I'm hooked, and if you've stumbled upon this and don't know why, just take a chance, you'll be drawn in immediately! Vampires, zombies, demons, haunted houses, and anything else horror will, amazingly enough, draw you in and have you sitting on the edge of your seat for MORE! Since the stories are short, they grab you immediately and hold your attention because you just won't be able to put it down. I highly recommend this and ANY other books by this author.
There is usually a story or two just don't hit the mark in an anthology but every single story in Twisted Locker was on point and engaging. Steven brings a new twist to older genres and makes them fun. I have to say my favorite story was "34 Pearl Street". I love a good haunted house story and this one is just a banger right up with Matheson's "Hell House". My only wish is that it was a full book to explore more about the house's lore. But if you like short story horror then pick up this book.
Brilliant! A great collection of short stories, something for everyone that loves a dark & twisty tale. I thought I would read a story when I had the time but found myself reading one story straight after the other! A true delight to read! I do strongly recommend.
A man starts a new job as a security guard at a haunted house. Things go good for a little while, then everything changes. A man confronts a demon and is cured of a terminal illness. At what price? Twisted tales to creep you out.
Amazing short story collection featuring demons, zombies, and other creatures. Plenty of twists and turns, and great storytelling throughout each story. Highly recommended!
A well written collection of excellent short horror stories. A must read for all horror lovers and highly recommended. I received a complimentary copy and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
What an amazing book. You will not see the ending of each of these stories coming. I was hooked from the first page. I can’t wait to read more from this author. .
brilliant. normally there are a few weak stories in collections like this, but not here, they were are brilliant. Pearl Street stood out as my favourite though. can't wait for volume 2!!
I loved this book of short stories and novellas. My favourite was The Devil on Pearl Street which was so atmospheric and creepy. As always, Steven’s characters are very real and flawed which really helps to put you in the story alongside them. Highly recommended.
