I wrote it so I want to just make a statement. Thank you all for reading FEAR (even if you didn't like it). I just appreciate the chance. If you leave constructive criticism and not a ___ critical analysis, trust me I would love to learn from what you've had to say. Because you are the readers and I thank you.

Ugh... I beginning to hate cliff-hangers. Not really, not when it's a full length like this. Actually it's the wait for the conclusion that drives me beat shit crazy.

Positive... Who the hell doesn't love a sexy bad boy who's heart is thawing? Not to mention the fact that he's English royalty. On the flip side he a dick for being engaged... pompous ass.

Negative... enunciate, enunciate, enunciate. I almost stopped reading because of the slang used in the beginning. Yes, some of the younger youth uses slang but as children age in the real world slang is left behind ... regardless of educational status. It just respect for yourself.

Positive... I can't wait for the second book in the series. Avant did an excellent job with her first release. I'll keep an eye out for more from this creative new author.

"Fear: Falling In Love With An Alpha Billionaire" by Amarie Avant

What I liked about this read....

All I am left saying is this was a good read that will keep you on the edge of your seat not wanting to put it down this read that had so much drama until the end and even then you will still be left wanting more. Thank you author for a fast paced read! The two main characters were definitely opposites and seeing how they were drawn together was quite interestingly done by this author. The flow of this storyline will give the readers a read with some twist and turns that when you think you have it figured out which way the author is going in the story it will be turned another way especially at the end. Will these two Lux and Vic be able to work out their differences and drama issues because it seems like only a phone call is needed so solve the problem but will it be too late? Well, to find out this and so much more we will have to pick up this authors next read!

In a genre where stories are often duplicated, this action packed romance is refreshing and unique. This debut novel from Amarie Avant is an exhilarating ride filled with mystery, intrigue and a blossoming new love. This author did an excellent job with the development of characters from vastly different worlds that are brought together under exceptional circumstances. The dialogue is clever, witty and well written. Lux is young and sweet black woman. She is strong enough to persevere after life has dealt her a terrible loss. Vic is a privileged suave mysterious man with a wealth of secrets. This sexy story is a page-turner with a series of twists and turns that will keep the reader engaged and wanting more. Amarie Avant’s debut is a must read for fans of interracial romance. I can’t wait to read her second novel Fear II: Falling in Love With An Alpha Billionaire novel due out in April.

Fear: Falling in Love with an Alpha Billionaire, is the debut novel of Amarie Avant. The premise of this story is an assassin, Victor, takes an assignment to kill Dr. Whitson. Before he can execute the job, he meets and becomes infatuated with Luxury, the doctor’s daughter. It turns out that the assassin happens to also be a Duke, grandson to the Queen. The story is rounded out by the fact that Luxury’s mother was murdered one year prior and Luxury was the one to find the body.

This is not a happily ever after story. Victor has been able to seduce any woman he chooses for a long time and we are to believe that Luxury is a challenge to Victor. This was my first inclination that this book had some serious issues. We are expected to view Luxury as this emotionally stunted, but strong young woman, because of her broken relationship with her boyfriend and the death of her mother. But at any point Victor gives her an instruction, or demand, she relents immediately. Secondly, I almost didn’t finish the book because it became difficult to follow the true story of the book. I’m surmising that because this is the first in the series, and we find out at the end it is a cliffhanger, the author threw so much backstory, it became hard to keep track. For example, what purpose did Deondre serve? Who exactly is Monica? While in the context of this review these questions are meaningless, I had the same feeling about their presence in the story.

I probably will not read the next book to see how this story ends.

Fear is the love story between two lost souls. Victor D' Ross. A member of British royalty and A Contract killer. And Luxury Whiton a College dropout and a florist. Ordinarily these two would not meet in a million years. However they do meet and sparks fly. Victor is immediately attracted to Lux and visa versa. Everything seems ok right?! Well he is there to do his job. A job that by the way he loves to do. However the hit involves the woman he is falling in love with. Lux is heartbroken do to a recent tragedy in her family. Fear and secrets are everywhere. Great story and great story telling. 5 stars.

I got to 28% and had to put this book down. The only reason I went that long is because it was recommended to me. The writing and grammar is horrible. Here are a couple of quotes from the book that had me shaking my head:

"Bye, booboo! Aliyah says, rolling her neck. Stop talking that man's head off and awaken your mentality."

"A baritone sigh seeps past my parted lips. My dick falls flaccid against my pants and finally my head falls back."

Seriously!?!?!

I have to say my favorite character was Victor by far. I love a tall, dark and handsome man with a large bank account. But what I liked most about him was that he was a British aristocrat with a twisted mind. Dark is my favorite. He has everything in life and yet he chose a profession of danger. (I won’t give his trade away) It wasn’t because he was spoiled or bored; it was because of his warped mind stemming all the way back from childhood.

Lux, Victor’s love interest, is the typical girl next door who leads a simple life. She becomes enthralled with Victor and falls hard, fast. She wants to fight him but just cannot as she gets sucked into his twisted world. It happens. It’s all chemistry.

I like the concept of how Victor desires the daughter of his assignment. At first, it’s a game of control that turns into actual emotions. Victor is a worldly man, who can have any woman he wants, and he has, but Lux is different. She’s not rich, spoiled or vain which is what he is used to. In this novel of danger and intrigue, the author did a great job of hooking me in and keeping me interested. I cannot wait for book two to see what happens next.

This book has great potential, BUT!

This book has great potential but it is so confusing the author has so many grammatical airs, as well is miss spell words. The book does not flow well is, she jumps to quickly and does not segue into what she's trying to tell you as a flowing story, I was so confused. if the story had not been such a good story with such good potential I would have stopped reading it immediately. But as I say the story itself was very good and that's the only thing that saves this book. so please author for part two, PLEASE!! have someone who is a good editor to edit your book. Editing is so key in reading a good story. Will I get part two of course I will because as I say the book was very interesting and I love Victor, but please remember for book two edit, edit, and more edit.

Should Luxury love Victor or fear him? Luxury and Victor literally run into other while she's on her way to meet her father. From the moment they meet, she's drawn to Victor, but he's arrogant and she's not even sure she likes him. Victor is in New York for a job, but when he meets Luxury he decides he can have a little fun too. What happens when Victor finds out that Luxury is connected to the job he's there to do? Will he complete the assignment, or will his attraction to Luxury change his mind?

I enjoyed this story, although sometimes I found it hard to follow. I had a love hate relationship with Vic. Sometimes he was an arrogant jerk and then he would show his softer side. Overall I think it was a pretty good story and give it 3 1/2 stars. I look forward to seeing what happens next for this couple.

DNF @52%.

The beginning was good and I was excited to read this but the more I read the worst the book became.

First, the H is a manwhore and women are crazy attracted to him. He sleeps around a lot. I wanted the h to be different but she very quickly gives in to the H. Letting him sleep with her on the first date!!! I wished she made him work for it.

Second, the h calls her parents "mommy" and "daddy." I have never heard an adult speak that way. This happened a lot in the story and was a major turnoff.

Third, the slang. Oh, the slang was awful. Why couldn't they just speak w/out the slang?!

Lastly, the slutty BF is my biggest pet peeve and the h's BF was incredibly annoying.

4.25 Stars. Usually, I avoid Mafia, gangster and crime romances; but I'm glad I have chosen to read this series-it's awesome so far. This book hit all the right notes... interesting story line with just the right amount of believable angst , well developed and memborial characters and a cliffhanger is well placed with an anticipatory revelation. The story opens with Victor Wesley Tomas D'Ross, Duke of Arlington, aka, Dr. Victor Finch, the story's murderous playa and male protagonist is ending a mission in India by enjoying a sheik's daughter. Victor is part of a network of assassins and kills for personal satisfaction more than for the money. To quote Victor about himself, " I am the byproduct of a womanizing child beater and a woman blinded by perfection,...". Victor leaves India and takes an assignment for a hit in New York; but runs into the story's 22-year-old Black heroine, Luxury Whitson, having her from being run over by a biker. Victor prefers South Asian women and is surprise at his immediate attraction and protective feeling toward Lux who he realizes is the daughter of his present mark. During the course of the story, Lux and Victor start a sexual relationship with loving undertones. By the end of this installment, Victor saves both Lux and her father from being killed by the assassin sent kill her father and him for not killing her father. It also sounds like Victor's courtly duties involve his marrying his childhood friend. The last reveal is the killer of Luxury's mother being her father's best friend, Dr. Charles Everhart / for play, her Uncle Red. KUB #21.

This is the first book in the Fear Series by Amarie Avant and I have to say that I am really glad that all three books in the series are out so I can jump right into Fear II! I read this in one day! It was so much fun and full of action, intrigue and of course, really hot sex! Luxury does get on my last nerve though. She really needs to chill, but I get that she's pretty young and also, at 22, I was a hot mess as well, so I get it. But I don't know why she fight Victor off so much. lol I think most men would not bother, but hey, this is a romance novel, so we carry on and don't care so much that Victor is also full of secrets too and an assassin who happens to be part of a very very wealthy royal family! He's a bit of a scoundrel as well, but those of us who like bad boy characters will see why Victor is irresistible. He's a dominant in the vein of 50 Shades of Grey character, Christian. At least, that is who he instantly reminded me of, just add the murderous side job and a British accent and you have Victor! Anyway, looking forward to continuing on with Lux and Victor's love story/adventure.

The first story in this genre that captivated and inspired me and got my own creative juices flowing. Amarie Avant is definitely a great talent to watch as she takes you on a journey of Victor who is twisted but sexy at the same time. Victor and Lux's strange romance is absolutely unlike anything you've read before!

Fear was an intriguing read. This was the first book ever that I had read from this author. Victor was an alpha male that intrigued me to no end. My fascination in his character grew the more I delved into the story line. Lux and Victor we're as different as night and day, yet they we're explosive together from the very beginning. When reading this book be prepared to get your blood pumping from the excitement and danger from this author's magnificent craftsmanship of this awesome book. I literallyccouldn't put the book down or should I say kindle? As soon I finished the first book, I scooped up the second one. Excellent job!!!

At first I couldn't get to grips with the story, I was a bit confused and couldn't get into the book easily, nevertheless I persevered and started to like Lux and understand why she liked Victor so much. I didn't like the explanation of how or why she feared him because most of the story he doesn't give her reason to fear him. I need to read the next part to this story because I need to know how it ends plus I think Victor's in denial as he actually loves her. Realistically, as I am English, it's a bit far fetched to believe a Royal could fall in love with a person of colour, but don't let my opinion put you off it's still an interesting read.

Really?

Everyone is entitled to their opinions. But I still can't believe this book received so many five stars. The leading lady was weak. She acts like a child trying to be a woman. And I got so sick and tired of her referring to parents as mommy and daddy. It would have been nice to find out how Victor got into the business. And there was a lot of run on sentences and missed placed words. I had to continue going back and rereading the sentences . It made it hard to stay interested in the book. This book didn't flow well at all to me.

Loved it

I really enjoyed this book! There aren't very many interracial bwwm romances that have some teeth. This booked skated near the dark side. Which I liked. Now I read dark erotica and this wasn't that but it had a main character that well wasn't a boy scout. However he can hunt. I really can't wait for the next installment. Please make the next one longer. I loved the action sequences. Victor is definitely an alpha male and he's royalty. A royal, a billionaire who moonlight as an assassin. Need I say more?

Oh wow

Vic Vic Vic SMH. Who wouldn't love a assassin Duke?? I figure it was going to be a part two. I feel bad for Lux. Hopefully see will understand and accept Victor for who he is. I can't wait to see where this story goes from here. I'm hoping they find a way back to each other. I'm curious to know the story about Victor and Madeline relationship. Hopefully that will be touch on in the second book.

This was a really good read and I would have rated it with four stars if not for the words that condensed together through out the book. I would have to say that Victor met is match in Luxury. I would like to know the back-story of why Dr. Everhart wants Luxury's dad dead. I wonder if it had anything to do with his accident. Interesting that Victor left out the part about having a fiance. In his own way, I think that he does love Lux, which is one reason why he can't leave her alone.

Luxury, AKA Little One, makes me think back to when I was 22…so young and naive. The character of Luxury Nicole Whitson makes us laugh, cry, and fall in love with Victor. Victor is that GQ type that we love and hate. This book is a must read and will definitely make you blush. As Avant takes us on an emotional rollercoaster you will go through emotions of happiness and hurt. I highly recommend this book if you enjoy suspense and romance.

Luxury seems realistic, really fleshed out. She's written in a way that I can actually see her in my head. She seems real. Victor is makes you want him and want to kick him in the b*lls after. This is a series but it's novel length, not some 100 page read that makes you want to scream. I am definitely happy with this book and anticipating the next one.
