Two months after Alaska, the earth is restless again.
Off the coast of Japan, the Pacific begins to boil. Gas vents rip open the seafloor along the Japan Trench. Deep tremors roll beneath Tokyo. Then the rupture comes—a megathrust earthquake powerful enough to shift the planet’s balance.
But the quake is only the beginning.
Volcanoes erupt in sequence across Japan’s arc. Tsunamis hammer the coast. Ash swallows the sky. Across the western Pacific, the Philippines and Indonesia begin to stir.
Geologist Sam Shore and volcanologist Irina Toropova recognize the pattern spreading through the Ring of Fire. The Earth isn’t reacting.
It’s transforming.
While governments scramble and politicians resist the unthinkable, Sam and Irina race to prove what few are willing to this is not a chain of isolated disasters. It’s the start of a new phase of planetary upheaval.
And if humanity doesn’t prepare now, the next megathrust may be one we can’t survive.
Just as thrilling as the first one! I love disaster movies because they capture the action just as I think it would be in real life, with special effects showing the damage done by the earthquakes. In these books, I can feel the fear as one terrifying event after another takes place, making them run for their lives. This is a great way to see what would happen without it actually taking place. Can’t wait for the next one!
Megathrust: Ring Of Fire book 2 continues the story of the Groves family et al as they try to rebuild following the cataclysm that that faced in Alaska. Now set up in Japan, it seems the world isn't done with them yet. As earthquakes, volcanoes, floods, fire, magma and more try to wipe them out, they prove stronger and more resilient than they ever imagined. The crystal clear description of the environments and events, especially the disaster sequences, creates a very involving and enthralling reading experience. Overall, 5/5 stars! Highly recommended for fans of apocalyptic survival thrillers, disaster thrillers and outstanding thrillers of any type! This book will appeal to a huge cross section of readers!

Another book in this series of just how many people can we kill off in one book. This time the major scene is Japan and you can figure the kinds of things that happen from that.
You've got people near Mt. Fuji (not the best place to be with what is going on), lots and lots of destruction and death and plenty more going in. The book is well written, of course, and it causes one to wonder what the body count will be in the next book.
Young characters who possess so much knowledge and wisdom are beating the odds stacked against them and managing to survive against all expectations and challenges that come their way.
