At twenty-nine, Sarah is one of the oldest omegas at the center. She only really even stays so she doesn't have to move back in with her family and have them fix her up with a pack. She doesn't have the time or inclination to deal with a bunch of alphas who only want someone who will be pretty, silent, and breedable. Not that she doesn't want a family, but the doctors have already told her that due to her PCOS, she might have difficulty conceiving...a fact her family keeps failing to mention to potential packs.
Her world shifts when she meets a scent match at a holiday mixer and suddenly all she needs is to be close to him, even if he doesn't seem as enthusiastic about the idea. Now she's in for a world of confusion as she tries to navigate the sudden need for a mate, along with her pretty beta boy and diva, pet bunny, Mr. Shaggbutt---all while navigating family drama.
Pack Miller isn't looking for love...or at least most of them aren't. All they really have planned is getting out of their apartment and, according to Spencer, "doing adult stuff...like buying cool kitchen appliances." But when the biggest alpha of them all meets the fierce omega one day at work, all bets are off. Now he's pining after the tiny woman who acts larger than life while she makes the rest of his pack wonder what forever might look like. Can Paul put his past loss behind him, can Alistair build a bridge and just get over it? Check out Hopping for a Better Pack, where these people will hopefully learn that just because fate says something is right doesn't mean you need to put up with anything less than perfect.
Galadreal Simmons was born at a very early age. She doesn't remember much of at, as she was tiny and squishy. Regardless, after 45 years…she is still short and squishy.
She was named after an elf proving that nerd genes run in her family. It's spelled differently, because try teaching a five year old how to spell that. When she was of an adult age, she had it legally changed to include the misspelling.
She lives in a not overly remote location in the southern United States with her husband, two small creatures that share her genetic material, and a cat named Nyx.
She enjoys reading, avoiding human interaction, and feeding crows in the hopes that they will form a crow army and do her bidding. So far, that hasn't worked out, but she continues to do it anyway—because they might be hungry.
This is the story of the assertive omega Sarah with her family issues and her PMOS and her big, beautiful beta Greg. There's also the blond himbo and sweetie pie named Spencer and his packmates Paul and Al who both have their issues with women/omegas. Finally there's an alpha who recently turned out to be Sarah's scent match, but we don't like him.
Large parts of this is just life chugging along and a lot of inner thoughts of the different characters, while waiting for the two groups to meet and combine, which sounds boring but somehow is really lovely instead.
In spite of there being a lot of people involved, they were all well fleshed out and I cared for all of them. Except for Sarah's family, of course, but they played a big part in her development as well .
And now I have to go read the books that came before this one. Such hardship.
Absolutely loved this book. Sarah is older than your average unbonded omega, but she doesn’t care. Then she meets her scent matched beta and all bets are off. Any pack who wants her has to take him as well. Enter Pack Miller. Spencer, the giant cinnamon roll Paul, the more mature level headed one Alistair, the grump. However, there is a small spanner in the works. Before Sarah meets these guys, she finds her scent matched alpha. Now she has to ask herself some questions to work out who she’s going to pick.

Hopping for a Better Pack is the 4th book in the Pack Pets Series by Galadreal Simmons.
I have really been enjoying Galadreal Simmons Pack Pet’s series, ever since I read the first book, I found myself hooked on this series and I found “Hopping for a Better Pack” to be this fluffy, sweet, Omegaverse love story that included this fluffy bunny and I swear this is the best Pack Pet’s book Galadreal has written yet.
Sarah is an Omega who’s been doing everything in her power to avoid her toxic family and avoid finding any kind of pack as she knows she doesn’t plan on bending to any Alpha’s will and being pretty, silent, and breedable. So, she’s shocked to find a scent match while at a mixer, but as it turns out, her scent match Max is about as excited about her as she is about him.
Sarah is shocked to find yet another scent match in beta Greg and that’s about all she needs or even wants. So, she decides that she’s going to bail on both Max and Greg, clear her head and go on vacation and see her best-friend. A best-friend we’ve met in a previous book Spencer who is part of Pack Miller. And we are once again reunited with not only Spencer (Sarah’s bestie) but Allister and Paul.
I have to say that as the other previous three books in this series, “Hopping for a Better Pack” Galadreal did a stunning job in writing this book and I have loved everything that she’s written. I do have to warn you that there are some darker themes in this book but Galadreal is such a phenomenal author who can masterfully knit all the heavier drama with the lighter and sweeter side of the tropes that she’s chosen to use and I feel so privileged to have gotten to read this book.
Sarah is such a unique and beautiful Omega. She’s not your typical Omega either. I loved that she isn’t the typical demure and sweet Omega you see in these books. I adored that she is this multicultural, multilingual, powerhouse of an Omega. I felt for her in her struggles with PCOS, her body images, and her possible infertility issues.
With Greg being her scent match and a Beta, you know without a doubt that any pack that wanted Sarah would have to want Greg as well.
And then there’s that Alphahole that Sarah scent matched with. Let me say this, he does not deserve her in any way, shape or size. Of course, that goes double for her toxic family. And I love the way Greg does everything in his power to protect her from all their toxicity.
I absolutely love the pack that Sarah finds while she’s on vacation and the way they help her through her sudden and surprising heat, they are everything that she could have ever wanted or dreamed of. And what I really loved was the way they were friends from another one of the packs from a previous book in this series and this just perfectly ties everyone together and I found that to be absolutely perfect.
What really hit me in all the feels was the mental and emotional abuse (thankfully none of it came from Sarah’s found family). Honestly all of it ran my emotions, my heart, and soul through the wringer and there were nights I had to set this book down just to settle my soul for a night. This is a slow-burn and that was honestly needed for all the characters as they all come from a troubled background and the slow-burn was needed for everyone involved to really properly process their feelings, thoughts, emotions, and it gave them all the time to grow and develop.
I loved all the hilarious moments that Galadreal snuck into this book, it helped to lighten all the darkness and the heavy tropes. I really loved the addition of the bonus chapter, that was a great addition and I loved that.
I loved Greg, he is one of the best Beta’s I’ve ever met no questions asked. Alister was grumpy but he had such a sweet and loving family and his brothers, oh I hope his brother’s get their own story in the future. I would love to see them get their own HEA. Paul, he’s more reserved for an Alpha. He knows what it feels like when a scent match goes wrong and a pack ends up getting hurt from that scent match gone wrong. And then there’s our cuddly teddy bear of an Alpha Spencer. He was just so adorable and so easy to love. And I just loved how he was all in from the very beginning.
And the spice, oh the spice was off the charts. Even when the guys were taking care of Sarah and her sudden and surprise heat, the spice was off the charts and it was hot. And the banter was amazing with mental and snarky communication that was just so fun that made me laugh.
I want more of this series and honestly I don’t think that Galadreal should stop writing this series. There are still so many stories that she could tell. I think the next book should focus on Sam and Lily and give them a pack, it has to be a safe pack though. And maybe give her someone that will pay attention to her the way Alastair did when they were saying goodbye to Sarah?? I can only hope and keep my fingers crossed.
Let me tell you, if you haven’t read this series yet, you are seriously missing out.
If you love the Omegaverse, a strong intelligent FMC, loving, protective, moody MMCs, then you don’t want to miss out on Hopping for a Better Pack. I highly recommend reading the entire Pet Pack’s series but you don’t have to read the entire series to enjoy this book.
My favorite quote:
~Gregs Inner Dialogue~
Nah, Greg, don’t be a dumbass. Omegas don’t work that way. Neither do alpha purrs, it’s something you have to be built with. Is there somebody I can call to purr for her…does it even work over the phone? Sh!t.
If you haven't read Galadreal Simmons yet, what are you waiting for?
This was the fourth book in the Pack Pets Omegaverse, and this one is chunky. As with most Omegaverse, we follow the omega, and in this case, it's Sarah, A twenty-nine year old omega who has been living at the omega center for the past ten years because most alphas think of her as too much. Too loud, too opinionated, and alwbooksoo much. She's come to expect that no alpha would ever pick her until one night, she meets her scent matched alpha, but he doesn't pick her. Sarah also has a problematic relationship with her family. They continually under cut her with cruel words and cannot support her. But right after scent matching with an alpha, Sarah also scent matches a beta, and refuses to join a pack unless he is included. When she takes a trip to see her bestfriend Teddie, a male omega who recently bonded a pack in Mississippi, and there she meets pack Miller. Alister, Paul, and Spenser are a mismatched group of alphas, looking for someone to love, Sarah is an omega no one else thinks deserves a pack and love. I really loved all the characters in this story, in this book especially there is a lot of crossover of characters from the first three books, but it can still be read as a standalone. Each character is fully fleshed out, and they are always present in the storyline. Even the minor characters are well developed. My only complaint is the length and how much each character thinks and feels is present, but sometimes it repeats, so some good editing should take place. It's a true cozy Omegaverse with a happily ever after. I highly recommend this book and series.
This Omegaverse shows that not all scent matches are perfect, and omegas can and do choose who they want in their pack. Sarah meets her scent match at a mixer at the omega academy, but there’s just something off about him. He doesn’t introduce her to his pack and barely has anything to do with her. It messes with her hormones, though, and she ends up needing help from Greg, one of the beta security guards, to start to feel better. They aren’t scent matched, but he makes Sarah feel safe and happy. Sarah’s family is terrible, but she can’t stop caring what they think or taking what they say to heart. On a trip to MS from LA to see her bestie, Teddy, she meets three more alphas that she’s drawn to. Spence is a giant golden retriever and is drawn to Sarah just as much. Spence’s other pack mates, Paul and Alistair, both have past trauma with omegas and/or scent matches, so they are not so quick to jump in with both feet. When Sarah’s heat hits early and unexpectedly, things get a little more serious. They’re all kind of all in, but Sarah and Greg live on the other side of the country. The books in this series are spicy and sweet but emotional and a little heavy. Their happy ever after was worth the journey. Loved it!!!
Sarah’s story is perfect. In the beginging Sarah meets a scent match. But something was off with him and his pack. Like why...
Then we meet Greg who is a beta that was asked to help cause she wasnt doing good. Well hold and behold, he is her scent match beta. He is just perfect and amazing for her. The way he loves her is just awww.
Now, she goes to visit Teddy and his pack and their is where she meets Spence. Who I have loved since Teddy’s story. He was just a sweet Alpha. Then she meets Al and Paul who are with Spence at the Omega Nest store. They take a little bit longer to fall for Sarah.
Spence falls fast and hard for Sarah. I am happy they all get their happy ending.
~Gregs Inner Dialogue~
Nah, Greg, don’t be a dumbass. Omegas don’t work that way. Neither do alpha purrs, it’s something you have to be built with. Is there somebody I can call to purr for her…does it even work over the phone? Sh!t.
I had the most issues with Spence's character. They said again and again her wasn't dumb. But then he would think sonething dumb. Like hearing the word 'ursaphobia' and thinking that means you like bears. ....phobia is never really a positive. So idk. I really wanted to like this set of Alphas, but they all felt SO OVER EXPLAINED, that they didn't feel like actual characters, just points on a sheet for plot. Kinda' frustrating.
I will also say. I now HATE the 'he's not mine, but he's mine.' Phrase and gambit. Like. Whut. I kinda' long for that instalove connection in these books, I want that for the main gals. And I like reading how they find their way through it. That's what makes Omegaverse books unique. So to have a chick get packed up with guys she's continuously all 'not really mine, idk.' --it feels really sad. Weird energy, all book long. And I don't think excusing it away by 'trauma-this' or 'trauma-that' is necessarily the answer either.
I'll just say, this book is one of those fluffy sweet Omegaverse love stories.. and then you have a fluffy bunny included in this I mean it's a win-win.
This book starts out with Sarah and a mega who has been dodging all types of packs and her family as well, only to find a sent match at a mixer but turns out that that sent Max doesn't seem to be too excited about her.
She finds her scent match beta Greg and ticks that is just all she needs excerpts when she goes on vacation to see her bestie who you met in another book she meets the Miller pack, which has Spencer, Allister, and Paul
This book is really well written I love this author I've read her from the very beginning and I would definitely read the trigger warnings there is a few darker themes and some of the other ones that she writes but it's such a good author who combine the heavier drama and the lighter sweeter side of these tropes and I am just so glad that I got to Arc this book
Sarah's story is sweet, but also very sad. Losing her best friend to pack life hours away, it should be great meeting her sent matched Alpha, then almost immediately after her sent matched Beta Greg. John just makes things strange, but Greg is the sweetest. Then her abysmal(was that the right word?)family. Getting to visit with the past characters was sweet. Meeting the Walker pack was interesting. Spence is the best, although I love all three. They each had sad backgrounds for different reasons too. Theres so much steam, copious amounts of snark, mental and snarky communication. So many sweet or funny moments. I don't think Galadreal should stop on this one. Maybe give Sam and Lily their own story, maybe a safe pack, maybe with someone that made her pay attention to Alastair when they were saying goodbye to Sarah????? Fingers crossed. If you haven't read this series yet, your missing out!
Sarah is the Omega FMC and I love that she isn’t the typical sweet and demure Omega. I also love that she is multicultural, multilingual and a little powerhouse! Sarah struggles either PCOS, body image and possible infertility.
Greg is her scent matched Beta and any pack wanting her must want him too!!
Her scent matched Alphahole doesn’t deserve her. Neither does her toxic family. And Greg does everything he can to protect her from their toxicity.
The pack Sarah finds while on vacation to help her through her unexpected heat is everything she could ever want. They are friends with the packs from Galadreal’s prior books and I love how she ties them all together!!
This book is funny and sweet and spicy!!
Definitely read this book and thank me later!!

I have loved every single one of these stories and this one was epic. Angst, tension, scent matching gone wrong, and finally Spencer's story, I felt so bad for him in Teddys story that im so happy to see Spencer get a happy ever after.
Love how there is not only a mental health rep, how Sarah has medical issues and mental health, along with Spencer and Alister, although Alister took awhile to grow on me. Loved how we get a peak into how their minds work and how anxiety and the rest impacted each of them.
I really hope there are more coming for this series, having a special animal in each is also a major draw, from lizards to bunnys it shows just how important that connection is with mot only people but with our pets as well.
I was looking forward to this book coming out, as I enjoyed the previous ones in the series. It was good to go back to some of the characters, but as it had been a while since I read the earlier books it took me a while to get back into it, despite the author's helpful summary at the beginning. It was really interesting to read an omegaverse story where scent matching doesn't automatically lead to the perfect relationship, it was a refreshing change. I particularly liked how the author described the way some of the characters overthought things so much, especially Spence and Alistair. The way the members of her pack defended Sarah against her family's toxic behaviour was really heart-warming.
I loved Sarah's story! This was my first book by this author and I'm so glad I got the opportunity to read it. The storyline was also a first and original for me. I also loved each of the main characters.
There was drama, humor, sadness, and so many more different emotions. This was a great slow burn romance overall.
I really enjoyed how the relationships developed between Sarah and each guy. The different dynamics and all moving at different paces. There were so many feelings, banter, tender moments, great spice, and much more.
This was such a great read and I'm so happy with the ending.
Spicy, why choose mfm (there are more Ms, but I don't remember where they go when swords don't cross lol), contemporary, non-shifting omegaverse romance. This is the 4th book The Pack Pets Omegaverse series. This can be read as a standalone, but the other stories are great as well so I recommend reading them in order. I loved all of the characters; lots of strong personalities and relationship growth. There is more than a bit of trauma (for several people), but overall still a very cozy read with a happy ending. I feel like I know who might be in the next book (I hope there is another installment!) and really look forward to reading it.
Omg I love this series! Sarah is sweet but sad. Losing her best friend to pack life hours away. When she meets one of her scent matches he doesn’t seem thrilled to meet her. Then she meets her beta and makes her feel the belonging she’s been waiting for. Sarah’s family is horrible to her. But there are sweet moments with her pack that make up for her family being the way they are. Greg was absolutely wonderful. I honestly could help but smile when it came to him. Can Paul get past his past to get to his happy ending with the rest of his pack.
This book had a lot of potential, but I think the author did a disservice with a lot of long internal dialogue and descriptions in chapters instead of condensing, it/it really needed heavy editing from the standpoint of where do you cut? Also the transitions for the epilogue we’re missing and that needs to add, as well as the ending with Alistair, being very abrupt. It has a really good foundation, but it feels like parts of this for rush and other parts that should’ve been rushed/cut down were expanded on when they didn’t need to be.
I liked this story for the most part. I LOVED Sarah’s Latina sass, but I felt awful for her when her family treated her like garbage. Glad she had Gabe to comfort her.
This book was a bit hard to read for me in that the inner monologues of the characters distracted from the story. They read like ADHD stream of consciousness tangents. It happened often and dragged out the scenes to the point of almost forgetting what the characters were doing in the first place. Kind of exhausting keeping everything straight.
Hopping For A Better Pack slapped in the best way! I related and understood Sarah's hardship with dysfunctional family and parental matters so much. Greg is bestest Beta ever! Hands down. I loved grumpy Alister and his sweet family. Not to mention his brothers. Paul is our reserved Alpha that understands what it's like to know a scent match never goes as intended. And Spencer, our cuddly bear of an Alpha was so adorable and lovable. He was all in from the start!
Hopping for Better Pack is the newest book by Galadreal Simmons. If you loved Sarah as a side character in Building A Pack is Ruff, get excited to read her story here. It is refreshing to read about an older FMC and some of the bumps it takes to get her perfect pack. While we do see some characters from previous books, this can be read as a standalone. I am excited to see what will come next from this universe.
I love this book. Honestly one of the reasons I picked this book was because there is a bunny as a pet instead of the typical cat or dog. I still love all the pets but its nice to see something that is not typical. This book has so much heart I love the FMC and seeing little glimpses of past packs made me so happy. I don't want to give away in spoilers but I will say this is one of my favorite series.
I was a wee bit concerned about the length of the book in the beginning, especially since the first few chapters, where characters were being introduced, were very wordy. Happily, I finished the book happy for every page. I love these characters and how their relationships develop. It's not often that I actually LIKE the jerk of the pack, but Al grew on me. Every character, good and bad, had their role to play. I can't wait for the next book!
Holy moly, this is a story full of mental and emotional abuse (none from her found family). It ran me through the wringer. For an omega verse, it is a slow burn but needed to be for everyone to process their emotions and grow. There were some really hilarious moments. Some of the characters from past books made appearances in this book, which was fun. Really loved the bonus chapter.
I loved that each character had a POV. I wish there was more about what happened with this alpha scent match that just seemed like he got off easy with no real consequences.
Loved this one! The newest Pack Pets book follows Sarah, the Omega feisty friend of Teddy from the Ruff book, as she builds her pack. Very cute continuation, I loved her MMCs and their relationship building.
I had the pleasure to be an arc reader for this book, and it was wonderful. I loved how it was different for the omega in this one that you don’t generally see in most Omegaverse; it felt more down-to-earth and more relatable to me too.
I love that they aren't all scent matched (some are), that the love they have for each other is just that strong. This is an amazing story...though I have questions about Ben & Adam/Lily (hint hint).
I love every book in this series. Each is well written and I really enjoy the humor. I’m always excited to see a new book from this author. Can’t wait till the next one.
Hopping for a Better Pack by Galadreal Simmons is the fourth in the Pack Pets Omegaverse series. This follows Sarah who is an older Omega- 29 - who finds her pack in an unexpected way. Loved it.
