I honestly just couldn't take it anymore. This whole book is just one metaphor after another. There is barely any actual dialogue between anyone which makes it impossible to get to know a single character in this book.
The inner monologuing i think was there to distract you from the lack of actual plot, characters connections, development or anything of real substance.
I had to give up on it getting any better at 67%, so I skimmed the rest. This one clearly has not been proof read because there are so many inconsistencies.
• In this one Rhett is married to a woman called Savannah but he gets his own book later on, where he falls for his best friends sister who is call Gemma.
• Dominic first tells Piper he loves her for the first time during an intimate scene on page, but later it's mentioned that he says I love you for the first time on the roof just the two of them.
There are more but I won't go into them. Definitely not for me and i won't be continuing with the series.
I usually enjoy fast-paced MC romances—the kind you can fly through in one sitting where everything happens quickly—but this one didn’t quite hit the mark for me.
I had a bit of trouble connecting with the author’s writing style, which made it harder to fully get immersed in the story. On top of that, I noticed a few inconsistencies along the way. They weren’t major or central to the plot, but they did pull me out of the story at times and slightly affected my overall enjoyment.
That said, it’s still an easy and quick read, and I can see how it could work well for readers who enjoy this type of romance.
As always, this is just my personal opinion based on my own preferences. I’d definitely encourage others to give it a try and see how they feel about it!
Well written but inconsistencies made it 3 stars only.
Good story, very likable characters. But story not proof read before publishing. Vice president single then married with 2 kids and 1 on the way. First time president says I love you on beach then has him doing it again in the epilogue as the first time. She states after sleeping together they sleep at compound nearly every night. Then get apartment gets vandalised and she acts like staying at compound is a big deal and describes the bedroom as having never been it before. I will read next book as I loved the characters and the writing style, but if inconsistencies Marseille be my last.
This book was not at all what I was expecting. It could’ve been really good, but it was just a lot of overly descripted sentences. The book was maybe 20% dialogue and 80% of weirdly descriptive and poetic sentences. It did NOT feel like a MC romance whatsoever. This is a book I would’ve expected to read in English class in the 7th grade. Something old, like Shakespeare. It just ruined the entire book for me. Most of the descriptions were so overly done that it yanked me out of the story because nobody talks like that, especially not a nurse in her 30s or an MC president. I ended up just skimming the last 30% of the book to get it over with.
Not your typical MC or MC book, but I enjoyed it and look forward to more in the Saltwater Kings brotherhood stories. Piper has the rare patience that is difficult express in writing and even more difficult to find these days. Enjoy the book it gives you a little slice of peacefulness that Dominic needed.
This was a good story. I did want to have some of the bad guys roughed up, but I enjoyed myself. Was waiting for one of the brother's to ride in and stay, but I'll keep reading to see how it goes..
I love this series but don’t understand why some books are based on Maine while others are based on the West Coast, prob Oregon or Washington. It’s never explained but the towns are the same as are the citizens. Very confusing.
