Hot Damn!!!!!!! This is why Salvatore Luciano Gabrini has emerged as my favorite because he's just Bad A$$ all across the board.
Sal and Gemma are happily married, Sal still running his business in the states and abroad and Gemma still fighting for the poor and impoverished. Two of the unlikeliest people are madly in love with each other. There is nothing Sal won't do for his wife and their is nothing Gemma won't do for her husband. Can Sal be extreme at times? Absolutely but when your married to a Gabrini that is what is to be expected, the Gabrini men take care of their women with no questions asked.
Gemma has a visitor from an unexpected person, a high profile lawyer by the name of Ted Coggan, now his visit to her office is even more surprising because he asks her if she can represent a client for him? The question is why? He claims that because of his notoriety his client is not going to get a fair trial, she is on trial for murdering her lover which she is claiming is self defense. Gemma agrees to take on his client but as she tells Sal, him being the voice of reason can't understand why are they asking her, not because he doesn't believe Gemma isn't a kick a$$ attorney, but because Gemma has been on a serious losing streak and she only represents those who can't afford to pay. Sal smells a rat and when Gemma asks him to join her, Ted and her new client for dinner, he readily agrees because he feels as if something is up. When they arrive, Sal is floored because the client is someone from his past that has something of great importance to him which he wants back.
Gemma's former mentor Rory Calhoun, is a judge that is retiring and looking to open up a law practice in Las Vegas, they run into each other and he tells her whats been going on in is life since the last time they have seen each other so many years ago, and she does the same. As they are laughing and talking, Sal walks up and he doesn't find anything funny and in fact, he knows the former judge and mentor of his wife, is looking for more than office space in Sal's building and he tells him in no uncertain terms that Gemma is off the list and to look elsewhere. But Judge Calhoun doesn't heed the advice and warning that is given to him, so he proceeds to buy Gemma a Rolls Royce for her birthday. Sal tied up in one of his side ventures is caught up in the middle of a shoot out, completely forgets its Gemma's birthday until he comes home, battle weary and emotionally drained. And demands she returns the car first thing in the morning and proceeds to make up for missing her birthday.
But the back and forth of Sal's other life is catching up with him, its not so easy anymore to separate the two. Plus dealing with Gemma's parents and then cutting them off with the insistence that Sal killed their daughter Chelsea which he did not. The mysterious Johnnell is sitting in their leaving room with a police report claiming it was indeed Sal that killed Chelsea when it was not, Reno smoked her a$$ when she was trying to kill Tommy.
The Gabrinis always have enemies, who are always plotting and scheming but what these enemies fail to realize is this, The Gabrinis are not to be trifled with at all and when you come against one then you come against them all. Someone has snatched Gemma off of the streets from the parking lot of her job at the court house. Whomever had the unmitigated gall to come against Sal Luca's love will truly understand the saying, "There will be no place on heaven, earth or in hell where you will be able to hide from him". Sal Luca is coming for you and he will not stop until you are not even a memory on this earth.
Author Mallory Monroe, OMG has me screaming because you just don't know where she is going with a story line, if you even think you have an inkling of where the story is heading, think again because you will not know for she has mastered the twists and the turns of blowing her readers minds.
This book was a rollercoaster of a ride that was both exciting and exhausting at the same time. Sal Gabrini is known for getting into and out of tight situation; he will stop at nothing to protect those he loves.
Gemma Gabrini loves her husband in spite of his background, she knew he would protect her with his life. Mallory Monroe brings the heat to the Gabrinis but this one seemed to have more action than usual. I love that we got to see a different side to Sal. A great read.
I am loving this couple. I love everything about them. Its them against the world including the in-laws who just keep on thinking the worse of Sal even when he saves their asses. Well they get put straight in this book.
I felt Sal's distress when he just kept on turning up dead ends and then his wife rescuers her own self. Everybody is blaming Sal and it turns out it was nothing that he did wrong. I loved how he could show his emotions about his wife and I was so glad when he took care of both those two jokers. We saw Sal's dark side in this book. Gemma showed that she can be a bad-ass and does whatever it takes to get the job done. They are exactly right for each other and I could read about them forever!!!
Did that seem shorter then the others or what? I love some Sal and Gemma but this one was kind of a let down on the drama meter. Yes it was filled with twist and turns right along with the passion and all but something seemed to be missing. It was kind of predictable from the jump when Gemma was in trouble who the culprit was. The more I read the more I wanted something else to be going on. After reading the other series the "rod" scene just lost it's gusto. Enjoyed this one but it seemed really short and just not on the level as the other Sal books. Hopefully we'll get some top notch enemies and drama filled to the max in the next one.
Another great read. As always I can't get enough of these series. Lots of action, love making, jealousy, and most of all important family. Can't wait until the next book.
I did not believe I would like this series. BUT I do, Sal is hot and lovable. Gemma is sexy and smart. They are good together. The plot is good. There is a lot of killing and sex in these books with a plot twist. I am still reading this series. I have to stop and write a review, before I read the next book. Let the advantage begin…
I enjoyed the story and the way characters from other stories are tied in and come to help. I really appreciate the love and connection that Sal and Gemma have. They are determined to make it no matter how the odds are stacked against them but why did Gemma's personality change. Gemma was the independent, pull no punches type of woman and all of a sudden she has become a bow down, yes do as I say and not as I do type of woman. What happened to the Gemma from the first book that told Sal to go to hell when she didn't like how he was handling her. Many parts of the story were predictable to me as well. From the moment she was introduced I knew Johnelle was going to be trouble for the family as well as Rory. Also I felt like there was too much sex going on. I want to read a story not a porno. It's ok to have a love scene or two but Mallory's books are beginning to be full of them as of late. Maybe to hide the fact that the storyline is weak, repetitive, and predictable. It makes me wonder if "Mallory Monroe" is actually the one penning the stories or if the name is just a moniker to be used by others as well.
I just love a Gabrini man!Once again we get to crush on Sal Luca! This is a coming of age for Gemma and a cementing of their marriage and family.I just love how Gemma lets Sal be the man. Also it's refreshing to see a man of alpha status know when your back is against the wall you have three things to depend on 1. Yourself 2.Your family and3.God. This is also a sneak peek into Sal's world and how he handles business.I also take my hat off to the Gabrini women you are a some smart, tough cookies. Also I feel I just got to address this Reno issue some readers think he has with Gemma, not so he's a sexy strong alpha male who can appreciate when a woman is special and a keeper.Thank you Ms. Monroe for once again giving me my much needed fix of Gabrini's. I can't wait for the next chapter in the lives of my favorite Mob Family that isn't.
WOW! Like another reviewer I wanted to go back and read Sal & Gemma's story again from the beginning....yes this story had it all, plenty of crime & suspense. Laughter, when RENO & Sal get together as usual. Spoiler** lol...two grown men still physically fighting like they did as children**. I STILL THINK SAL IS A MOB BOSS. Poor Gemma...think she'll ever really win a court case or just give up practicing law all together.
Tell me why Gemma is so weak when it comes to Sal,she's appear to be such a strong woman, but she lets Sal tell her when to eat , he sex her so rough, I can feel the pain, but it seems to be ok with her even when she's upset. Now don't get it twisted,I love me some Sal,I just don't like this thing with Gemma being so soft now and she's wasn't like that in beginning.Ms Monroe keep up the great work and u are the only author that I pay 5.99 and feel like it's worth it
This book was off the hook. Someone kidnapped Sal's wife Gemma. Sal's true gangster side comes out full force as he searches for his wife. He leaves no stone unturned. It's a mystery romantic thriller. Loved it as much as all the books in this series. I'd recommend this book to anyone who likes a little bit of action and mystery in their romance stories.
The saga continues with Sal and Gemma. Although they are soulmates, Sal is still thuggish and his life is still full of drama. Gemma is kidnapped and can't be found. She manages to escape from her kidnapper; her mentor, a retired federal judge. It's a page turner and will keep you reading.
This book was so good it was like watching a movie only you felt more into it because u felt the emotions more and sometimes just going back to read a line that meant everything and in your head you could say it fast or slow or get something different because your not in a hurry to finish the book all I can say is great job!
I loved it. Gem and Sal really click. Gemma is Sal's ride or die chick. Sal is such as complex character. He is a take no prisoner type of guy and then he shows his vulnerability when he prays. Great read. I love all of the Gabrinis.
I am exhausted, I feel as if I just got off a emotional roller-coaster ride. you didn't know who or where it was coming from, they was coming from everywhere. Dayum good read!
What can I say except well done. A little more action this time. Even though Jonelle should have been tortured . But hey.... .next book. Keep them coming
