3.75 rounded up. It is episodic but honestly its just capey fun teamups done well. It's a nice reprieve from the so far event (in-run not DC events) or climax heavy that Adams run has been so far.
Oh man, the Guardians did some shitty secret plan in the past and try to hide it again. It worked out so well the dozen of previous times lol.
Krona is back again and as a creepy clone of Hal. The Guardians try to track him down. Hal knows some of his plans or ideas but is unsure what they are and takes the whole trade slowly dealing with his strange visions. They also slide in a Star Sapphire retcon. Turns out love isn’t an emotional spectrum thing, it’s like… 9 different types of love and she has to track them down. It’s a cool idea. I was always bummed love, and all emotions, are treated too singularly in GL.
But Hal mostly slowly deals with this while teaming up with a bunch of heroes for one-off adventures. They're all fun and drawn well from the rotating artists. I won't lie though the first few artists I preferred much more as they felt more slick and dynamic as the rest felt more old school in a specific style that was never my total cup of tea.
Turns out all the one-off adventures were to have some fun final cape action flings before we enter DUN DUN DUN DUNNNNNN Kyle Rayner’s time in the spotlight! But then the book ends lol. From what I’ve heard and seen the next volume might be a bit lame balancing Hal’s more interesting plot with Rayner’s much more middling plotlines that take up more page space but never really committing to letting him run the book solo. But I’ll have to truly read on to see how much that’s true in actuality.
Finally, as a little aside I'm glad DC is doing though “previously on” splash pages. They really help especially when reading trades as they release months apart. It's always something I love about manga tankobans that so many comics just don't do in their collected editions.

Hal Jordan's latest adventure has him wondering whether things are preordained or not. A quick flick through the Book of Oa has him doubting everything, and it sends him into the arms of old loves, and into the orbit of old friends too, as GL marches to issue 600.

This arc's a little all over the place, but it's still as solid as I've come to expect from Adams after these last few years. Hal's interactions with Carol, Ollie, and Batman ring true (ha, pun), and although it feels like the big reveal takes a backseat quite quickly, it's nice to see these characters moving forward for a change instead of just circling one another over and over.

I think #600 marks a change in tune for the series, with Hal taking a back seat to a Kyle Rayner-centric arc, so we get a taster of that here too.

I really like Adam’s but this whole run of issues feels like it’s treading water.
I always worry when a writer starts to do a bunch of issue where
A) it’s all team ups with other dc heroes
B) it’s random villains each month with no real stakes or story being told

It makes me think the writer has run out of ideas.
When you throw in this ‘quest’ for Sapphire to go find a bunch of artefacts, I assume just to get her off the board, then it just feels like lazy writing.

I had high hopes for Adams run on GL and I still do, but he needs to take bigger swings rather than going through the motions like this.
