Noviate Anna Hasdiel is royally screwed. She survived the Dark World, but only to face tougher waters ahead. Summoned by the Powers for breaking the Law, she faces severe punishment. They don't know that her mere existence is her biggest infraction.
Anna’s the daughter of a Watcher. The Watchers are imprisoned and their children hunted by Legite Shane Huntley. Huntley may have the ability to discover the truth about Anna. But, Anna isn't the only one keeping secrets. The Power's are corrupt and have their own agenda. Can Anna stop the Power's before they discover who she is? Will Anna be able to convince Shane of her goodness before he kills her himself?
Just like the first book devoted, Torn was a page turner. Every time i finished a chapter i had to read more. The character anna is fierce as well as fragile. Her new companion Huntley has many sides to his personality. I really couldn't figure out if anna could trust him or not. The ending was not surprising but action filled and great. As my last review i can't wait to read the part of the series. All the characters are hard to figure out whose side they are on until the end.
I think I have said this enough, but it's always good to repeat some stuff. THERE'S SO MANY FUCKING TYPOS! Em, I love your writing, the action, romance, the story, but CAN I PLEASE EDIT YOUR FUTURE BOOKS?!?!?! I know what I said was rude, but the typos really distracted me. I apologize for anything offending in advance. This series is off to a great start. I loved the first book and this book was pretty good. The beginning was pretty slow, put it really picked up, and it was super enjoyable. *switches to computer to commence bitching* The Typos -"She forgave to.": Too, not to -"...made us like shit.": I hope you don't like shit... Look like shit -"Descent fucking clue.": Decent -"Made our accent to...building.": Ascent -"He small shoulders...she.": He is supposed to be Her -"They'll parish.": I think it's supposed to be Perish -"You have to earn respect to.": It's too -"Beat up car dinted.": Dented -"Hangar.": Hanger -"Tazered.": Tasered -"Ever male.": Every -"Legates": Legites -"Dam idiot.": Damn -"A-wall": AWOL -"Memphis' tale": Tail -"Kicked him in the groan": Groin -"Mini-mouse": Minnie Mouse I love Shane, but I'm not a big fan of the love triangle so far. The story is really interesting, but that cliff hanger is killing me. I can't wait for the next book. This book was action packed a FULL of drama. LOVED IT! I love the snarky dialogue and the inner dialogue is hilarious. It's very JLA-esque.
This was a great sequel. I liked the first book, "Devoted", but I absolutely love "Torn". I think this book had a better plot and far more interesting characters. My favorite character in this book was Huntley. He was so unpredictable and mysterious at times. He added an unknown factor to the story. You never quite knew what he was going to do next or whom he was actually loyal to. I think the this book got better as it went along. It started off a bit slow. There was a lot of plot development and background. It picked up though. It eventually became quite a page turner. By the end, I couldn't put the book down. I enjoyed the story. I can't wait to read the next one... especially considering how this one ended. I look forward to reading the rest of this series and any other books written by Emery Skye.
This is the second book in the Angel Academy series, the stories build on each other so it should probably be read in order.
Anna and Taylor have been summoned to Bethel. Before they go Nathan warns her to stay away from legite Shane Huntley. Off course Anna cannot help but attract the attention of the one legite who may have the power to uncover her most protected secret. And that's just eh beginning.
This was a really good follow-up to Devoted. We got a lot more insight into Taylor in this book which was nice since she seems destined to be part of Anna's crew. Shane was a fascinating addition and I hope we get more of him and his background in the next book. While Anna spent a lot of time with new characters in this book there were still sightings and interactions with the Devoted crew so I didn't feel like I was missing them. The new characters brought a lot to the book without making me feel overwhelmed by too many people.
Overall I really liked this book, I have read it three times now since Sunday. I really like Anna and her crew and cannot wait for the next edition. Note: this one does end, not exactly with a cliff-hanger, but definitely a WHATS GOING TO HAPPEN!?!?!?!
I received my copy from Emery and it was so worth the wait! I would recommend reading the first one because it would make more sense that way so go get a copy of Devoted(try to link to amazon!) now. This book answers so many questions that we were left asking from Devoted but in the end leaves us with a few more. The characters from the first novel have changed some but still have the same spitfire will to get their way. The action starts off really early and doesn’t slow down until the mind blowing end just like the in the first one. Toss in some new phenomenal characters and I’m hooked!
Awesome storyline. I had a ton of questions after reading Devoted (An Angel Academy, #1) and this book answered them, but now I have more questions. I have a new book man-crush. Holy crap, Shane is smoking hot, but he has his corks. Taylor developed so much. She's an awesome chick. I'm happy I learned some back stories of the characters. A lot of the pieces fell in place. I love love love where the series is going and thank God… Spoiler. That scene with Amalie and Anna broke my heart.
I'd give this 20 stars or more if I could. I loved it. It reminds me of James Patterson's maxim ride. You can't help but love the kids, and it's a great story.
** I received a copy of this free from the author in exchange for an honest review**
I have not read the first in this series and that most likely contributed to my difficulty becoming invested in the MC, Anna. I found her to be stiff and almost emotionless, or at least her emotions didn't affect me at all, in the beginning. I found that changing about 70 pages in and found that I did care what happened to her. Her story, back story included, was interesting and the changes she was experiencing were well written. She seemed more mature for a teenager as the book went on and wasn't TSTL 100% of the time, which is a nice change from the typical YA book. The choices that she makes lead to dire consequences for her and are based in what is ethical and moral and not really good for her. Her actions also cause other characters to question what they think is moral and ethical and their own personal choices.
As for the other characters- I HATE NATHAN, hate him. I don't know if I would have more sympathy for him if I had read #1 first or if I would despise him even more, but right now- HATE HIM. He came across as extremely weak and Anna forgave him far too much, and then the very end when he actually did something she seems to have forgiven him and hates Shane now. I can't say too much about Shane without giving away a million spoilers, but he is a sexually harassing jerk-face for most of it, but I still enjoyed him (that probably says more about me than anything about him). Amalie and Aloysha were pretty forgettable, although Amalie's surprise at the end was a nice touch. I liked Taylor for the most part, again I would probably hate her if I had started with #1, but can say that she was funny and supportive when she found out the truth about Anna.
Holy Cliff hanger Batman, now I have to read #3. If there isn't a follow-up to this I will have to make up my own ending and I wouldn't even know where to start.
There were quite a few grammar errors and word choice mistakes, but I choose to chalk those up to the advance copy and format I received. This is a good read, but I would suggest reading the first book before moving on to this one. It can be read as a stand alone, but I am sure I did miss a lot for not reading them in order and that I would be more invested in the characters from the start.

This is book 2 in the series and the reader should read book 1 to understand everything that is going on. The author continues to take the reader on an adventure through heaven and hell and everything in between. While Anna continues to try and protect everyone that she loves and cares about she is given the task of being a part of the team that hunts the very thing she is....will Anna survive Shane Huntley? Can Nate save her from this new trouble she is in? Who can she trust?
The author grabs the reader from the very first sentence with this book and never lets them go, even after the book is finished. The reader continues to think about the characters, the situations and what is going to come next to them all. The story is written and read at a break neck pace and the reader often times gets finger cramps from flipping the pages so quickly. There is no good stopping point, so forget about taking a break - you won't want too! The reader is so absorbed in the story that the end comes as a surprise to them, and not in a good way! The reader never wants the book to end and once it does they are left with a major book hangover that only the next book in the series can cure! I can't wait for book 3! I need it now!
Add this one and book 1 to your TBR list! Don't miss out on this amazing series! It is a can't miss!
This book was sent to me by the author for a review. Anna's story continues in the book and there were things that happened that I was not quite expecting. Again, Nathan and Anna's relationship just frustrated me at times. With Shane now in the mix, I'm curious if she will end up with either one of them or if someone new will show up. The way the Angels act in this series is really quite different from how I picture them to behave. Their powers are also something that is different from how I view them. The cliffhanger was good and I can't wait until the next book comes out to find out what happens next. The editing of the series needs some work but overall I do like the storyline.
I really do like the storyline and the characters. That being said, the formula used to break this book into chapters, as well as the hyphenated words and unfinished sentences, made this difficult to read. Student angels go to Academies to learn how to protect humans. As in all politics, there is corruption and prejudice. The main character, Anna, finds out that her bloodline puts her at risk of a death sentence. Whether your good or bad doesn't matter. Battle lines are drawn and it's good verses evil and good verses good. Anna's blood is the key to ending the war. I was given this ebook in exchange for an honest review.
Not a bad writing style (a must in my opinion!) and the characters are well developed. However you must read the first book before diving into this one. :( there's no back story explanation of the first book, it just thrusts the reader into the aftermath of the last book. Sadly I was not given the first book to read nor had I read it before hand.
If you enjoy paranormal school settings definitely pick this series up! You'll love it and the characters really grow on you and the characters grow so well throughout the book.
Even if you don't like school setting books give her books a shot. You just might be surprised.
I love this story! It had me in tears at least 4 times and I just got sucked into the story. Now, while the story was a gem, the mobi book I was given for my review was full of mispelled words, sentences that just don't have endings and some strange punctuation. But again, I love the story! The characters are developed and fun. I havent read the first one yet, but I am hoping to soon! Love it!
I was given a copy of this book to read and review. I was not paid for my review in any way, and all opinions are my own.
I read Devoted and just like that book Torn had me hooked at page one. With this book Anna is still such a fierce yet emotional character. Like with any great sequel I have a ton of questions that need definitely need answers. I really liked how the plot moved right along, it kept the flow of the book moving so I was not bored. And I must say WOW! Shane sounds dreamy. With that Emery, Emery, Emery.... can't wait for book 3!!!!
I have absolutely fallen in love with this book! Every twist and turn of the plot steals my breath away, left me wanting more. The only thing I disliked was the fact that it came to an end. Never had a book had me so caught up that I cried just because I came to the end. I am very impatiently awaiting there's next book, I'm now so caught up in what is happening especially with Amalie!
I really like this book. Its exciting and entertaining. I wish I get to read the first book before Torn. But otherwise I just couldn't put it down. I needed to know what was going on and how its going to end. Can't wait for the third book
