This series will piss you all the way off but you won’t be able to put it down. I absolutely disliked 90% of the whole series and even less of this book in particular. I didn’t like any of the character, I didn’t like anything they went thru, I don’t feel Iike they grew or learned anything, the redemption or second chance was not earned, the betrayal too great. I never wanted two MCs to not have an HEA together more. The author has a formula to all her books that I have read. The blk FMC will get betrayed or messed over in the worst way, the white FMC antagonist will fair well the entire series and MIGHT suffer a little in the end, and the MMC is a POS that the author manages to make us empathize for. This book just made me so mad and I was hoping it would all be for something but it wasn’t enough. I want more vindication for the blk FMC so bad.
This book could have benefited from some self editing. There was a lot going on that was unnecessary and didn’t advance the story just added to the trauma of it all. And then I wish we got to see Gabby happy even if just for a little while. It got to a point where I really really wanted to DNF but I was too hooked.
But with all that being said I still was locked in. I was looking forward to each book and doing a happy dance when it dropped early and it’s sad to say but I will read whatever comes next. Literary glutton for punishment.
I am so intrigued by how the author has a way about writing taboo and gut punching stories that keeps you interested from beginning to end. I think she is willing to write unpopular situations that other authors steer clear of in a way that authors also stay away from so it gives her this uniqueness. She puts us as readers into the head of the victim and the aggressors and this makes me as a reader more involved and attached to how they will react or be affected. You hold out for this payoff or balance that may or may not come. This is a good quality as an author regardless to whether I like or agree with the content.
*slight spoilers*
With this series the pay off didn’t come for me. Gabby is humiliated the entire series and learns from nothing. Link is a horrible MMC. I don’t care how handsome, or muscular he was, how big his shlong was or how well he pleasured the FMCs. He was horrible in general and atrocious to the FMC that he supposedly loved. The DV aspect was so unnecessary and out of place and made me dislike him and her more. There is a line in the book “May a love like this never find me but find all my enemies”, that summed up the romance aspect.
Even with how Sarah ended up, It didn’t seem like enough. She did entirely too much all the way to the end and was fairly happy with Link, and benefited on her attacks on Gabby the whole series. Except for Marty, I don’t feel like any of the antagonist suffered enough on page for what they did on page and that includes the MMC. Reversely Fabian is a wasted character. I was hoping for a potential that never came thru. He could have been left off completely and wouldn’t have been missed.
I wanted Gabby to win soooooo bad and she doesn’t the whole series and a good bit of it is her fault but with no actual work just a space of time she ends up with a quasi HEA. She is dick-matized in the worst way and it is annoying because she never puts herself first. Even at the end, Link thrived and Gabby was stagnant without him.
I read 60% of the book. I skimmed the rest looking for this ah ha moment that never comes. I’m glad that it’s over but I don’t regret reading it. I wish I wasn’t so invested. I would recommend the author but I would not recommend this series. This is a “venture at your own risk” type of read. I would not be responsible for recommending this.

My mouth was open on several occasions throughout this finally. The surprises of events that too place indications where the story was going. The story was addictive, I couldn't out the book down...I stayed up late reading it even though I had work the following day...had dropsies at work because I had to finish the book. I absolutely loved every minute of reading the whole series. I highly recommend all of AdaG series, once you start, you won't be able to stop!!!!!
What a great ending! This was a roller coaster of a read but I enjoyed it. No one messes with my emotions like this author lol. I feel like that’s what makes her books so great
I have a love hate relationship with this series, after reading Book 1, I didn’t want to keep going but I’m glad I did although some parts just didn’t seem right like Gabby with Fabian in the sleeping bag. I did love the fact that they both cared for Morris.
This series took me through it! Through every high and low my emotions took hit after hit but im glad everyone got what they deserved can't wait for this author next release!
The Work Wife series will send you on an emotional roller coaster! I can’t tell you how many times my emotions were all over the place. This series ending perfectly!!!!
Out of all of Ms da Great's stories this one had me all in my feelings. Very angsty and an emotional rollercoaster. This final book had everything and then some. The redemption of Lincoln was something I was hoping for but I was also in my feelings over how abusive he was to Gabrielle in their first marriage, and after their divorce. He really changed for the better. Only when he himself felt the same pain Gabby felt, when he went public over the lies about Gabby, and his realisation over his past toxic traits through counselling, is when I felt was the turning point, that he could change. Gabby was a saint compared to Lincoln. She deserved every happiness and glad she got a good HEA even if it was with Lincoln. She is extremely forgiving. Though I did not want her to end up with Fabian. I was side eying his interactions with Sarah. Sarah's comeuppance was satisfying. How she still planned to mess with them after getting out of jail; the gall of her. Good riddance. But I have questions.... - Did Gabby ever find out Fabian slept with Sarah? I guess she might not have been as friendly and affectionate with him back then if she knew. - What happened to Voss? He ended up in prison yes but would have been interesting to see how he fared. He was a psycho. - And last but not least Morris?! He obviously passed but wished for a scene with him with Gabby and Lincoln as a proper couple. Anyway what a finale! Loved it!
I now understand why one reviewer said that after reading book two to book four, she no longer had any sympathy for Gabby. I appreciate that the book ended in a good place. It came full circle. I thank you for Marty getting exactly what he deserved, although I did not see the depths of that penance, even with Sarah, she got exactly what she deserved. There were parts to this said, I asked myself, what in the world is going on? Noooo! This author was playing with us. I can see why things had to play out the way they did, break it all to come back to a new start. This was a good series. What Gabby did after the revelations? I didn't see coming in. I didn't understand because what why would you even do that? You didn't even really like him like that. FABIAN did that, with a woman he knew was in love with another, man that's crazy. I also understand why the reviewer said she didn't like nobody in the book except Morris and handsome. She was right on that 💯.
*SPOILER* I’m just really confused bc when the cops come to arrest Marty, he ends up putting a gun to his chin and killing himself. But the epilogue is COMPLETELY different. He’s alive and Lincoln tortures him w robots and kills him in a mine shaft…so he dies twice? It doesn’t say anything about alternate ending for Marty or it being a dream. I guess Marty is immortal? 🤷🏻♀️
Everyone sucks in this series. I'm not sure if I regret reading it or not. The first book was good and angsty. This book has a conclusion. The books in between were bat 💩 crazy and not in an enjoyable way.
Emotional roller coaster. Gabby was strong and scrappy but she also let to much slide. Lincoln is such a man thinking with his smaller head 85% of the time.
