I do not think I’ll ever recover from these. They were beautiful. The authors ability to write pure sonnets into this love story was otherworldly.
The story gave me vibes like the cat and mouse duet but better in my opinion. The characters had depth. They had substance. There was more believable love story. It felt as though their love truly did transcend. Twin flames. Red string. North stars. It was beautiful.

The plot felt as though it gave me everything I wanted. I do hope we see more in the future. Maybe a prequel to the grandparents. A spicy novella even. I’ll take whatever crumbs this author leaves. 🥵

I loved the character and relationship development between Jax and Tala. It felt smooth and natural. The pacing was a little slow for me. I found the writing unique and interesting. Jax is a villain with a good reason. He's motivation in life is to get revenge for his father and to save as many dogs as possible. With that said beware there is animal abuse but not from the main characters. The side characters were multidimensional and well developed.

More spoilers, fyi.

So, I finished book 2 and just as I thought, it wasn't any better than the first one. It wasn't worse, per se, but geez, it didn't improve either.

As you can guess, we spent the first 40% of the story waiting for Jax to find Tala (who had managed to work out her own escape just before he showed up - no trains were involved in this story, though). During that 40% we got to see all of Tala's torture. Thankfully, it wasn't as bad as Addy's and she had someone on the inside tempering her abuse and helping her plan her escape...so there's that positive difference.

Tala was a bit insufferable with her attitude after her reunion with Jax. I get it, somewhat, but her insecurities were not justified or explainable based on character development throughout the two books.

Once they catch Brutus, the story is OVER and that's at around 82%ish. And then, it's literally sex at every single turn, every single chapter. Honestly, it was overdone. I was over it. Oh, and there's a bit of gun play in there towards the end, just so we don't leave that piece of HA out.

The words 'dome' and 'meat suits' are used more. And I will stand by this till the day I die: the word relievedly IS NOT A WORD. And even if you can find an internet search arguing against me, I'll tell you you're wrong. This author has a strong relationship with adding 'ly' to words to make them fit where they shouldn't.

This may be my last book by this author. It depends on how many books I read before the second book for Vore comes out...how much I can erase from reading these two, y'know.

This is still a great book. I love all the characters, the found family. Obviously the last book ends on the kidnapping so the first half of this book is great and tala is an amazing badass and only grows in this. I did feel like the second half of the book just fell abit flat for me. Still great but got a bit bored towards end. However amazing spice yet again. God I need a Jax lol 4 stars.

Jax & Tala my god! Their relationship is so intense. The love and the spice was so good. Jax would say the most swoony things I ever heard. I just loved this book so much.
